    Just found your video and thank you so much for sharing Steve!! I've had three Phal Orchids that I bought in bloom two years ago and they suffered from bud blast and crown/root rot!! I was able to save them but they haven't rebloomed since, and this year the roots are starting to get alot longer which you said is normal, and they're growing more roots and leaves so I'm SO hoping this year they get new flower spikes, that would make me so happy because that'll let me know that I've finally learned to care for them in every way possible!!❤️🥰🙏🏼

    I have a phalaenopsis that is just now dropping her flowers that bloomed in May. It is now September. I could tell they were about to go because the bright color started to fade somewhat. I ended up hand pollinating a few of them. Maybe I will get lucky to get a seed pod!

    I was gifted one of these a few years ago -the original stem of flowers died and I did snip that about close to two years later another one emerged in March and I got 10 blooms from that stem it is still in its original container and the leaves are so big it tips it over when barely touched. Should I repot it or let it continue to thrive and just maybe set it in an outer pot as well for support?

    50 years growing orchids?!?! Wow! I was wondering if you can get an orchid to rebloom without manipulating the temperature? Thank you for sharing your knowledge n tips w/us. You have some beautiful orchids there. God bless you!😇

    • @victorb145
      @victorb145 3 года назад

      I don't know if you can do it by not changing the temperature at all. But I would not recommend letting it get down to 60. I found my plants would Bloom but drop their flowers almost faster than they opened. Last year I had some heat trouble and the place got down to 50. Not all of the phalaenopsis survived and the ones that did are still trying to recover.

    Is there a range of humidity that phaleanopsis need? We live in the high altitude desert of Northern Nevada, with low humidity. I mist the orchids daily and keep a humidity thermometer near them, but I don't know what conditions I should be replicating.

    I received an orchid for Mother’s Day and I do not want to kill it. How do you know, without a doubt, that you’re not watering too much or too little? Note: The roots on top look a little white. The flowers have been beautiful and large for almost 3 months now.

    • @RubyJane6904
      @RubyJane6904 10 месяцев назад

      I take a look at the roots through the clear pot. If they are green, don’t water. When they turn white I pt the clear pot in a bowl and water thoroughly . Let it drain completely. Works for me. Just don’t let it sit in water after you water it. Hope this helps

    Steve I need your help. I have a Phalaenopsis that I’ve had for a few years now but it’s never budded until now. Some weeks back it started budding and looking great then one by one the leaves started turning yellow and falling off. I lost three of them but the plant still looks great and the buds still look great but one by one the little buds are turning yellow and falling off. It has yet to bloom a flower. So far I have lost four little buds. Please tell what you think is going on with it or what I may can do.

      I think he was referring to the germination of orchids on a commercial scale using the seeds. From my knowledge this does requires a sterile condition. Orchids usually grow naturally in the wild. But when it comes to producing them on a commercial scale, it does requires sterile condition when growing from seeds to get the best results.
