Thanks for posting this!! I'm an HO scale guy called upon to repair an n scale Bachmann 0-6-0 for my neighbor's young son. Thanks to this video I was able to make the repair. A double thumbs up from us!!!
Eric, exceptional, calming ‘how-to’ video. A Super WoW 🥳🥳. I recently purchased one of these and on taking it out of the box, those super miniature screws had come off the drive rods. I may try to re-attach them, using your clear description of alignment. Thanks !!!
It has been a while since you posted this video, but I thought I would share my recent experience with a Bachmann 0-6-0. Recently, I received a brand new Bachmann 0-6-0. It is a very nice little locomotive with sloped tender. Runs really good at slow and high speeds. Very quiet. I just hooked up 18 twin-bay hoppers, one small tank car, and a caboose, and it pulled all 20 cars (unweighted) quite easily at low speed (and faster) on a level track. I am pretty impressed. I do not want to overwork the Loco, so I did not add any more cars. Your two 0-6-0 videos were the primary reason I decided to get this locomotive. Thanks much!
This is exactly the kind of video I was looking for to see if I wanted to buy a Bachmann steam engine! Thank you for making this video. I think the 0-6-0 will work perfectly for my Steam era stitching puzzle!
Another great video. Bachmann is the only company I can tell that has an N scale USRA switcher on the market. And yes, their quality has really improved.
This is an awesome video Eric. I had two Bachmann 0-6-0s that I tore apart and fixed. They ran fine when I sold them on eBay. It was a struggle to fix them and this video would have been such a big help a couple of years ago. I sold all my steam except for three because they are so finicky. I keep my Rivarossi 0-6-0 because it runs pretty nice. I also have a Rivarossi 2-8-2 and lan Atlas pacific that run nice. They all run nice it won’t pull worth a crap.
Eric I am glad you finally got my package and that you liked what I sent you. I have no idea when or where I got that steam engine. I am truly amazed that you got it running. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks for this tutorial. I recently bought a very old N scale Locomotive (it works just fine), and I was curious about how these Loco's came apart, but it seems most RUclips clips II saw so far covered Diesel Engins, and not Steam Locomotives.
I did enjoy the video as it covered all my issues with drive linkage, split wheel axles, and pins. Hope to be able to find extra drive wheel pins as like you say, very small and lose easy.
Another bright idea I've had is to take a Bachmann 2-6-2. Add carefully shaped lead weight to the sides of the boiler, a bunker to the back of the cab. Viola a 2-6-2t.
I have two of these 0-6-0 and there still in parts on my bench in a plastic jar. The gears were cracked and they need replacement maybe I'll finally get the courage to try and fix them
Nice video. I don't know if you have any advice but I got a new ho model of a 0-6-0 and the rivet connecting the crosshead to the side rode I think is loose because the crosshead comes out of the sidebar. You have any idea on tightening it by yourself?

Of you get a Kato 2-8-2 Heavy, it is far superior in every way. Plus if you ever decide to sell it, you can get your money back.

You sir have a lot of patience and steady hands! great video's.
It helps me relax. When I work on trains I focus 100% and I forget about all the other negative stuff.

I you get a Kato F-E-F 3, you will see: It’s completely different. You can enjoy running steam trains.

Right this guy could probably make a bag of spare parts into an engine, he's a pro.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, regrettably when I tried to follow your example on a 080 I failed - hope to find someone as skilled as you to repair it for me..
Is it an Atlas?
@@watchtrainsnow1099 No it's a Rivarossi N Scale 0-8-0
if the motor runs it' s possiblesome you can fix it. if the motor is bad, I know a guy who can fix it.

@@watchtrainsnow1099 The motor seems fine it runs briefly until the valve gears / linkages become stuck again
Very good! I have one of these that I am repairing for the second time, broken front axle. The video really shows how to put this together!
I’m glad I could help.

Steam is hard to work on. I’ll make more steam videos later.
The newest versions have split frames and better gears and are actually pretty good locos...finally.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for posting again!
No worries!

WOW!!!! YOU Have the patience of JOB.
Interesting that you mention that. I went through tough times around the year 1999. I kept Job in mind, especially how god restored him at the end.
Hi Eric, really impressed with your skills. Cheers, Jim L
I was like that whenI was a kid. Always took my trains apart. Over the years I got better at it.
Another bright idea I've had is to take a Bachmann 2-6-2. Add carefully shaped lead weight to the sides of the boiler, a bunker to the back of the cab. Viola a 2-6-2t.
Sounds like fun! Are you going to make a video on it?
@@watchtrainsnow1099 I'm not really set up to do videos. Maybe this will give me the motivation to do so.

Yes, it’s not the best engine to get.
Mine was pretty good condition, and since I have another 0-6-0 which is the new one
I will probably make this a little passenger engine
The newer ones are good runners
@@watchtrainsnow1099 agreed
I have that engine and it’s works fine and it is in mint condition. And it is not a horrible engine. That is MY opinion.
If glad you are enjoying it. Mine was not running when I got it.
Had mine apart a couple times. Trying to fix that broken part.
Finally gave up. Kept breaking. Put it in a box.
Yes, I don’t recommend buying this engine. It’s good if you like to repair engines and you want a challenge.

I’m not sure. I have repaired broken parts before with crazy glue. But you have to be careful not to get it in moving parts.
If I am correct that is Actually a 2-6-2. But Still like it.
They are both the same drive, so maybe it was a 2-6-2. And the person that had it before lost the pilot and trailing truck.
Back to Deloeran
Yes it was fun to fix!
I would use a small pair of tweezers but then I wouldnt be gamne toi try this anyway hahaha
As far as tweezers go, it’s a 50/50 chance. I have had times when the pin flew of from the tweezer. I guess it depends on your mood on that day.
🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Thanks for watching.
Very poor quality
They are cheap in eBay for a reason.
