    Nicely done test of system pressure.thank you .

    Beautiful. So I was getting flares between gear changes and dialed the pressure up on the adjustment with the volume cap off. Flares are reduced, almost imperceptible unless in a very specific rpm range (2200 - 2500). However, there's a big shudder and jolt when the car warms up, and I go from P to D, or D to R or R to D at idle. In normal driving, gear shifts are smooth. Jolt only happens at stand still. What could be the likely culprit?

    Make a video about adjusting that. My 124 shifts a little rough

    Actually thought I would test my trans yesterday, used standard oil pressure kit, had all the fittings including elbow in my kit. But had zero pressure at idle, with vacuum connected. Thinking port may be blocked ? I didn't let it run for too long, before questioning whether I even had it connected to the right port, after seeing your video again I can confirm its the same port.

    Great educational video as always and thank you. Quick question, Can a bad modulator cause smoke from exhaust pipe? I am also an owner of 300CE with M104

      when diaphragm ruptures in these things on any transmission it is possible to suck atf up and into the intake manifold. My first car as a kid was doing these smoke screens, it is accompanied by poor or no shifting once the fluid level gets low enough. easy enough to test with hand vacuum pump

    Nice, Would there be any difference with the trans at operating temp?

      entirely possible, but i cant legally
      drive it to bring it up to temp yet. I’m not
      gonna play with this one im more interested in why blueblack has very firm shifts

    Not sure if you've rebuilt the trans yet or not, but that one sure looks healthy to me!

    Question, does the modulated oil pressure control the hydraulic pressure on the bands and clutches? I.e, if the modulation pressure is increased, Tee bar screwed in, is the transmission less likely to slip under full power situation? Many thanks. I see many people are running incredible power and high boost, but what Mods are the doing to there trans

      likley the transmission has had a serious internal malfunction if the oil level is correct and there are no forward gears.

      I will have to calculate it instead using pictures. Information on these old mercs is getting harder to find.

    Can this cause transmission fluid leaking into the engines vacuum and going into combustion causing smoke?

    • @MMWA-DAVE

      absolutely. If there is any atf in the vacuum line, replace it.

    Could a bad vaccum modulator cause a late shift?

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  2 года назад

      on these transmissions shift points are altered by the throttle pressure cable, which is adjustable. The vacuum modulator only alters shift firmness.

    • @salehfiras943
      @salehfiras943 2 года назад

      @@MMWA-DAVE well my issue is that the cable is fully extended and i still have high rpm shifts if I shorten the cable a bit it increases the rpm to shift even more...The shifts at low speed are with a clunk sometimes and a push foreward...at full throttle the shifts are smooth fast and nice overall but still at high rpms..All vaccums check i dont know what to do honestly anymore..

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  2 года назад

      @@salehfiras943 do you have the S/W switch by any chance? If this is malfunctioning it may explain the late shifting. The harsh shifting at low speed does sound like the vacuum modulator either not adjusted right or having a burst diaphragm. It can be tested with a vacuum tester. The S/W function is also a vacuum pod on the throttle pressure cable which can also be tested same way.

      @@MMWA-DAVE I have fixed the problem(6months worth of reading manuals and forums and all of that... maybe it will help others in the future...The pin in the garbox that it connected to the cable was stuck! Couldnt believe it but it did! For anyone who has problems with the gearbox take it step by step...Verify linkage corection of the pressure cable (and the integrity of the cable by hearing a click in the gearbox when pulling and letting go),verify vaccums and after that dig deeper(ofcourse after you SERVICE the gearbox with a new filter and the right new oil)
