The first three videos were understood by me and I learned a lot. Unfortunately, I do not have much background knowledge of scanners and this video was way above my head. I am sure it is a help to others who have a deeper knowledge of frequencies.
Yes, The beeps can be set at off or on or any level in between, I should have turned it down for the videos, I know I did later on in the others videos.
Uniden 436 Scanner ::::::I'm glad. My wife had me hunting that feature right after the scanner arrived. Radio Reference which evidently provides the pre set programing for this scanner indicated my rural county would include the new secret squirrel P25 phase 1 or 2 channels but they are not here. I'm no genius, well I am but evidently not when it comes to this scanner, but I have went thru the entire manual and it seems they take you right up to the point of getting what you need then.....next chapter. I have obviously turned to RUclips but nothing I have tried has located the P25 anything. No IDs, no talk groups, no nothing. Just from entering my locztion I get access to counties close by and since I live where 3 states come together some of their counties are using the Tennessee system. I have not heard a digital peep. Been in law enforcement over 35yrs and worked in many countries as contractor and am also a medic. I assist local units and the highway patrol but since the local sheriff and I have a totally different attitude about L.E. I'm basically in the dark now. He hasn't made an arrest, that we know of, in his entire career of probably 25yrs and I hae donated over 25,000hrs to my county and state while I'm not out of the country. Now an officer could be in trouble in front of my house nd I wont know. I've tried close call n discovery but nuthin works so if anybody has a clue I would be glad to hear it. The system here isn't brand new and it has been nothing but trouble for the oficers. At leat with analog a weak transmission willmget some info thru but with digital it's either all or nothing. Also the politicians and EMA idiot preached that we werd gettin the Ferrari of systems but actually got the rent a wreck version....for over million bucks. U can guess where the money went. Thanx for ur time If u got ghis far. PTSD n 4:30am n I type too much. Glad the scanner workin for yall. I got the first trunk tracker still goin but only gets local volunteer fire departments. And keep ur powder dry, bad times comin.
Ok... Sorry to hear you are having an issue with the scanner. Let's try a few things first. Enter your zip code ( push the 'zip services' on the scanner front). I am assuming that you did this, if you did that you are halfway there I hope. Hit 'system' ( white key on front of scanner) to go back Next try to set the range, hit the menu button on the side, go to 'set your location', go to 'set range' and enter 50... that should be good. Hit 'system' Hit 'menu', go to 'Set scan selection' and go to 'select lists to monitor' and then hit (or turn on ) 'full data base'... Hit 'system'. Hit 'Menu', go to 'Set scan selection', go to 'Set nationwide systems' ... turn on what you want to hear, Law enforcement, Law Talk etc etc... Hit 'system'. You should start hearing things now... if you now hit 'system' and wait a second, you can 'hold' the system to whatever is reading out on the scanner (top lcd line), now press 'system' and hold it down while you turn the knob on top of the scanner, this will display all the systems that are loaded as you turn the knob, find the one you want to listen to and let go of the 'system' button... this also works for the 'Dept' button as well... When you load a full database and if you have all the 'Nationwide systems' turned on, and it starts scanning, you are scanning several thousand or more freqs. Try to narrow it down to just the Law enforcement systems and then narrow it down again to just the systems you want to hear close by. I hope this helps somewhat. This is exactly what I do sometimes...
Uniden 436 Scanner :::::::Thanks for ur response.....I had tried all those thins but after I kept digging on Radio Reference I finally found a page by accident that our county has a Motorola system, something Communication America with 3 chnnels for sheriff's dept, one encrypted BUT to get the info in PDF files or as downloads I have to pay $15 or more to be a preminum membr to have access. In other wordd holding the data hostage that was supposed to have been downloaded or updated. Tye only thing in my county is what we have been using for years. So this close call stuff only works if it is already in the scanner somewhere. I sat outside central dispatch and triec every search method n got not a peep. I can get a refund for the scanner and th feds are sending me a radio that will get and transmit everything but it never hurts to have alternate ways to monitor. Im goin to pay the ransom and see if download works. The way the manual and advertising reads it almost sounded like the old frequency counter b4 trunking came along but not that I can see. Unless the "system is in there and you have talk group info, id's n all the rest u got to pay go play. Thanks again for your time and help.
You might want to practice/learn the terminology and details of operation before doing a video like this. The attempt is good as it can be helpful to others. It's just a bit fumbling! Keep practicing!
@@barneyf.howell6378 Thanks for the comment, I am not a pro at this, just another radio hobbyist. I played around a long time with the radio to find out just how it works, the official terminology sometimes escapes me and I was merely trying to show others how it works to the best of my knowledge. Again, thanks much for the comment.

😊😊😊
I really don't use search with scan a whole lot. I use my favorites lists. That 436 is an amazing little handheld
Good video. Hard to watch due to the beeping. Suggest you silence the beep for future videos. Otherwise learned from video.
I have a fever and the only cure for it is more beeps.
Well done! Can the beeps be turned off?
Yes, The beeps can be set at off or on or any level in between, I should have turned it down for the videos, I know I did later on in the others videos.

Trying to figure out how does one rule out custom search es while scanning?
Should have shut off the keypad beep, it's way louder than your voice.
Attention-Nator ??
Yeah....well
Sometimes my mouth gets lazy, haha....
