There are a lot of videos about this scanner, but yours are the best by far . I have had scanners my whole life like your old one . I was lost on this one , but your videos have really helped. Thanks.
Jjames Anderson Hey thanks for the positive comment... I searched youtube after I got my 436, and although there a lot of good tutorials, I said 'Hey I can do better'... Glad I could be of help, more to come, but I recently had surgery and my left arm is kinda immobilized right now. Stay tuned for future vids when I start to feel better...
Wow i'm really enjoying your explanation of this scanner. I was ready to give up and sell it. Now i'm starting to enjoy it as i did in the past with my old scanners that i've had. Thank you very much.
Haven’t been able to update the firmware on mine. The database is outdated as well so none of the frequencies are current. Essentially I have a really cool paperweight. The instructions are essentially none existent. Info from Uniden is useless. Sentinel is clunky and I keep getting failed to update messages, can’t connect to the server. Apparently I’m not alone, reading several post regarding the same.
A little late to the party as far as your video goes, but I just got this scanner for my birthday and your video made some things pretty clear. Thanks. BTW, used to work with a guy lives in St George UT.
@@chriss7393 absolutely. Weekend afternoon entertainment some days around here. Especially now that summer is arriving and all the citiots are coming to cottage country.
I just ordered this radio - previously used the BC125AT. Are favorites lists the best way to scan “Banks” like I did on my 125? I know you mentioned the channels and such, but that doesn’t seem to function quite the same as banks.
So a few years ago, my county's fire departments (since I live in a rural small town county) all switched to a main fire frequency. They each had their own beforehand and those are still in the databank on Radioreference. The same goes for out county's ambulance service and police/sheriff's office. My question is, will the scanner know that all those other frequencies aren't being used? Because there are only 3 frequencies in my county I have to scan now because they switched over. These are analog btw, between 154mhz and 155mhz.
I'm thinking of getting this radio as my county switched to P25 which I'm assuming is another term for "trunked". Am I correct? Does this radio support p25 / trunking?
Yes, this is a trunk tracking scanner. One of the best IMO. P25 is just a name for a digital trunking application. For more info on what the scanner does, try this link..... wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BCD436HP
This scanner is awkward to use that one has to set “hold” function to freeze system, department and even channels before he can listen to what he wants. If you do not set “hold” to freeze them, “beep””beep””beep” and nothing happens.
..."is there a way I can't set up my ZipCode still", did you possibly mean 'is there a way I CAN set up my ZipCode still'? Honestly I would have no idea if you can set up a Zip Code in Australia... sorry...

You're doing something wrong, it's pretty simple, select 'Set Your Location', then select 'Enter Zip Code", then select Canada. Then just enter the first 3 digits of your postal code or any nearby postal code, then hit the E/yes button. You only need to enter the first 3 digits because the location does not need to be perfectly precise and it only lets you enter those first 3 digits. I've also had the auto locate work while at home, but not on the road. I have several postal codes saved and labeled for the areas I travel and now I can just switch between them. I have yet to have it 'not accept' any of the postal codes I've entered. I assume by to you meant two.
@@Kurogane_666 Yeah, first one I bought the display quit working in less than a week, I was really happy though when amazon had a new one delivered before I'd even sent the old one back, they emailed a shipping label, I printed it off, sent old one back with no extra shipping charges. I wonder what would happen if you hooked it up to a big outdoor antenna? I have the opposite problem in Barrie, Ontario. Trying to filter out all the extra stuff I don't want and I somehow pick up things from 200km or so away with the radius set at 20 miles?
...Not exactly sure what you are asking. It is a radio scanner, so yes, 'you can make it so you are just scanning'. As far as one channel scanning, well, that wouldn't be scanning, that would be just monitoring one channel. And you can do that of, course.
I have an Icom IC-R2..older scanner, but this one came unlocked from the UK and can scan the old analog 850-890 mghz cell phone frequency. Most if not all cell phones are digital now. So it's useless.

Can't wait to do some Fire Buff with this scanner.
How is it done so that when the scanner is turned on the time is programmed?

How do I enter a single frequency with out scanning? Interested in aircraft band.
To enter a freq manually, see my video Part 5.

Make a favorite list with just that one freq, and listen...
So you don't have to have a computer to program your states data base .
