Excellent high speed modern trains! Wide open spaces make good atmosphere but there are few people for international station. Class 373 has Jacobs bogies and power cars concentrating at both edge of formation and so it makes much different sound from Shinkansen.
Yes, it impressed me too, how only a small group of people use Javelin stopping services and Eurostars. Ashford International is much busier as it is a major hub where conventional lines merge and split too. Oh 373 are stunning, even 23 years later they still impress! Yeah, it's much different from Shinkansen trains, where traction is distributed across all bogies.
Hello, Ethan, thanks for your comment! Oh yeah, got to love the traction motors of class 373 trains...they were made by Alstom though, a French company. They are a member of the TGV family, only longer, more powerful and fit for the narrow loading gauge, used in the UK.
Absolutely fantastic video. Very relaxing and nice to see some 300kmh passes. Thanks Pano for this. You really capture the essence of rail travel. Can't wait for your next presentation. Yiasou
+Beyond 1000. Oh, a million thanks! This is my goal, this is why I have been doing this for 8 years now, to promote railway culture and traveling! I am glad it works! Eurostars only reach 300 km/h in section one of High Speed One line. Here you can see them at 230 km/h, as this is the speed limit of section 2. Yet they are so impressive! Χαρά μου, θυμάμαι ότι μου είχες ζητήσει Eurostar!
Nice video. Really enjoyed watching. you managed and were lucky to capture the new e300 all updated and modern. Really look forward to hopefully seeing more videos like this in the future. Thanks. 😎😆🖒
Thank you so much, Daniel!!! I was hoping the refurbished Eurostar trainset would be on a stopping service but i only caught it running, You will see more, my friend! Thank you once again!
+KTV Videos Thank you so much mate, I enjoyed the station and the trains, you will definitely have a good filming session there! Good God, I have been watching your videos for a long time and I haven't subbed. Did it just now! xD
After the 'documentary' style start the train action starts around 1.25. Professionally done though, thanks. On a separate note... I see there are no shared bogies on the 374 huh... that should make it easier for Hornby to make a model with the provision of buying extra coaches!!!! Shame about their Eurostar cockup!
So true! These trains still look mean and full of personality, even after 23 years of service. A few selected 373 trainsets are being refurbished and will remain in service, not all is lost!
The 395s (Javelins) and the Velaro Ds (374s) are made by completely different people, the 395s are made by Hiatchi in Devon and Japan while the Velaro Ds are made by Seimens in Germany
Actually they sound a bit different from the Deutsche Bahn Velaro D's. I think it has something to do with the 25kV electric system used in Britain rather than the 15kV used in Germany and other German speaking countries or then it's just updated traction motors.
In 2019, there were 9 TMSTs renovated as e300s - these trains will not be retired soon -, a few still in original TMST 2005 renovation, and one with original interior operated by IZY (low-cost Thalys) between Paris and Bruxelles.
Hello there! Ebbsfleet International serves the people from Medway, the area around the station, to commute fast to London and back via SouthEastern's high speed services. It is also an intermediate stop for Eurostar trains to and from Europe.
Also on the plans apart from the the theme park is also one of the governments plans of a new city on top of the existing ebbs fleet estate I think it was mentioned once that this will house 10,000 properties an industrial area and expansion on the bus links to and from the station, eta about 2020
Why is that classy eurostar replaced by such a terrible crying piece of metal that sounds and looks more like an ICE 3... Love the old eurostar class train and his howl when it leaves the station :) All the high speed trains in the future won't have sexy motorcars with heat grills on the side i guess and that's fucked up!
I would say the new e374 trains are rather nice and modern, yet it's all a matter of taste. I am also very sad to see the old beauties leave, also feeling honored i saw and filmed them.
New 2020s TGVs will have nice power cars but they will be smaller than current ones - current design dates back to the mid 1970s, even on 2019-built TGVs - and the new TGVs will be more silent than 373s. To be honest TGVs don't have any particular sound, even the 1970-1980s model, unlike the Eurostar.
10:37 That wheel-slip with automatic sand dispensing kicking in straight after. Great footage :)
+CoyoteUK84 Oh you have trained ears and eyes, you can also hear the wheels slipping before the sand kicks in.

Ebbsfleet was built essentially in the middle of a wasteland for future planing of the paramount park which is not happening anymore
The Class 374s use distributed traction
8:17 was what I came here for xD Nice capture.
I've been on the e320 class 374 Eurostar.
My first reaction: meh, doesn't sound amazing... (Acceleration kicks in) second reaction: YES!
2:09 OMG the loudest traction ever and sounds like an German Loco

They use GTOs instead of IGBTs or synchronous motors so that’s why
It's a velaro

One of these Eurostar 373 018 was abandoned. Search "The abandoned Eurostar"
The traction on the Eurostar is loud but I like it. I have not been on any trains in this video but I hope to someday.

LOVE THE E320S!

Hello! Thank you very much for the comment! Correct, the Velaro D family of trains don't feature Jacobs bogies so train modelers should be grateful.
0:07 We will soon make a brief stop at Ebbsfleet In,tl
I wish they were not getting rid of these style euro stars, they are so gerogoues looking and sounding!!
So true! These trains still look mean and full of personality, even after 23 years of service. A few selected 373 trainsets are being refurbished and will remain in service, not all is lost!
Class 374 and the Javelin are EMU. But, Sound is dissimilar. Interesting!
+ttmjrm Thank you for your comment! Yes, they have totally different sounds and the acceleration is different too..

Do you know how many e300's are left? I may go tomorrow to Stratford

Anyone else live in gravesend??
1vanWasHere what part? I live on the river
Most of them Eurostar's don't stop at Ebbsfeet. And why would they?
2:09 5:48 Eurostar traction motors start
Shame Eurostar dosent serve ebsfleet anymore
What's the point of this station? In terms of commuting
Hello there! Ebbsfleet International serves the people from Medway, the area around the station, to commute fast to London and back via SouthEastern's high speed services. It is also an intermediate stop for Eurostar trains to and from Europe.
And soon the new Paramount them park :3

I need 2× eurostar?
Does the southeastern javelin Train goes to France as well
???????
Oh hell nah
Ass Kicker don't overdo it man

jeweetwie wie, the new Eurostars ARE Ice 3s. Just refitted for Eurostar.
Erm... No. They're completely different.
Chayce Huff
Its ICE Velaro-D with multiple carriages
New 2020s TGVs will have nice power cars but they will be smaller than current ones - current design dates back to the mid 1970s, even on 2019-built TGVs - and the new TGVs will be more silent than 373s. Not many people about. Is the place haunted?
No but there is a Village close to Ashford called Pluckley that is haunted
The sound is so loud and annoying 😣
This is music to many people, like me, on the other hand.
It's not. If you hate it, why are you here?
Class 373
