Since I grew up with him, Pierce Brosnan is my favourite James Bond in the franchise. Pierce had that charisma with blend of swag like Sean Connery & charm like Sir Roger Moore. Pierce Brosnan was born to play James Bond.
9 years since your comment and i agree . Although by the looks of it they want to change his gender and skin colour next . The latest Daniel Craig film dropped huge hints of this .
That's what I been saying for years!! Daniel Craig just doesnt have it.. In my opinion, Richard Madden should be the next bond. Either way, I miss Brosnan
I grew up with Brosnan as Bond. I am slightly biased, but he is MY James Bond. His charisma, his looks, his great acting. Everything screams James Bond from him. I remember as a 11 year old hearing the news that he got sacked. I didn't like Daniel Craig until Skyfall, but I have to admit that Casino Royale is also an excellent movie. Spectre and Quantum of Solace are worse than TND and Die Another Day imo, so Brosnan still has the upper hand in terms of good movies. Goldeneye is easily along with Goldfinger the best JB movie there is.
I was born in 1952 the first Bond movie came out when I was 10 years old I didn't see my first Bond movie until I was 14 Gold finger and I've been a fan and ever since except for the Roger Moore ones Except ForEyes Only I went back and watched the first three Dr No and from Russia Russia With Love and Thunderball at the movie theater. As we look at it it has affected our sexual mores ideas about technology, cars, fashion and everything else .A lot of the things you see in the Bond movies are things that later on become real and there's always a learning curve in the Bond movies that go on in the real world you don't know about such as water being more important than oil or technology for solar energy or Europe taking the wealth of Africa for itself G.O.D. gold ,oil ,diamonds I will always love Connery in the role first Bronson ..he's my age ...Craig... Lazenby... Dalton... Moore and for you younger ones Barry Nelson in the tv Bond Casino Royale not the awful spoof that was made in the 70's I've been lucky enough to fulfill some Bond fantasies even gone to Jamaica to the boxite mine where they filmed Dr No he my be the devil but sometimes it's good to be a little bad or Bond... James Bond!!!
You know, if Pierce Brosnan had the scripts and stories that Daniel Craig is getting these days, I think he would have topped Sean Connery! The writing is so much better these days than it was back when Moore, Dalton and Brosnan were Bond. Back then, it was so cheesy that sometimes it was hard to watch without laughing.
I completely agree, I too think if Pierce had the kind of story and script that Daniel has had, he would have been one of the best and maybe the best. The recent Bond films has more gravitas, has more focus on not just cheesy or action but really good story and character, there is a focus on making good quality stories and not just things that go boom. I mean, if all of Pierce's scripts were like Goldeneye or Skyfall and such, he would have been amazing. It's the downshift in quality of the story that just killed it.
+Edward Cabaniss I'm also agree with you guys.. But have you ever think that Brosnan wouldn't match Craig's Bond character? Bcos I think there are differences between them which make Brosnan wouldn't match Craig's Bond, and otherwise Craig wouldn't match Brosnan's Bond.
I agree, Pierce is such a wonderful actor, from a child I loved watching his movies, he could've certainly been the Daniel Craig of the 90s. I blame the script writers and all for making him seem so...tame..
@eating sugar no papa Correction - GoldenEye is his best. His other three? Nowhere near the level of the likes of Russia with Love, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Living Daylights and even Casino Royale.
I miss the earliest days of the franchise when each film had one or two dominant and distinctive motifs. Nowadays each one seems to be a hodgepodge of all the familiar elements. And all the visuals are ultra-busy. Back then there was an appealing minimalism.
+mark aaron I agree. Today's entertainment is filled with multiple little stories and little characters with their own little stories. The end result: you don't really care about any of them as much since not enough time or development can be given to them in the allotted time of the film or tv show. This happens to superhero movies especially where they throw in everybody but kitchensinkman.
@@elfhermie this comment was made very close to the time I had become exhausted with superhero films. +RB2331 You must be JOKING! I've already chucked Craig's last two films in the cinema trash pile. I will NEVER watch Quantum Of Solace again and will only watch Skyfall if I pair it with Home Alone as part of a comedy double feature since it features the same plot. I watch EVERY Bond film apart from Craig's multiple times per year and have done so for multiple decades. They always entertain. Casino Royale is a good Bond (Craig's only good Bond film) yet it holds no multiple viewing appeal. It already feels dated. Look at that crappy CGI snake, the stupid parquar or whatever it's called jumping garbage, the fact that they switched it to poker instead of baccarat because poker was hot on tv and in American casinos during the late 90s and early 2000s (it's no longer) and the anti-Bond crap they put in it which does nothing but scream "look at me, I'm putting in stuff in here for no reason other than to go against past Bond films that people actually love". Craig's era is EASILY the worst and most forgettable of the series. Today's films are pretty much all garbage. They're clones of each other that cash in on certain brand success. Craig's Bond copied Bourne and Dark Knight. Neither of those franchises has mass appeal. Bourne has already been all but forgotten and considered a negative just as Matrix before it did (started good and fresh and turned to crap that everybody copied) and Dark Knight only appeals to "serious" comic book fools who think cartoon characters should be treated like Shakespeare. That's the camp most who like Craig fall into. Unfortunately, his movies as Bond lack what Shakespear had: STORY, suspense, and memorable CHARACTERS. Craig's Bond will be considered the worst of the worst decades from now. The others, while dated (part of their charm) will always be considered classics of their time. Craig's Bond films aren't classics. They're slow, boring, overly dramatic, poory written, have no worthwhile stunts/escapes, hardly any good looking women, poor villains, ugly locales, goofy CGI, and horrible action editing. Pure garbage.
I don't think anyone can deny that Sean Connery set the bar for what's expected in a Bond movie. As legendary as Craig's performances were, I still think Brosnan is the closest to the OG.
