chaseontwowheels would be cool to hear a follow up on how hot the helmet is / how the vents are once summer comes back around. I live in ATL as well so I’d want your sign off that it’s not significantly different from your other helmets before plucking down the money. That was the only question I had after watching the video. Nice review man!
I have big ears as well that always get folded over inside my helmet. Solved that with a $5 helmet liner. Keeps my ears in place when putting on my helmet plus reduces my helmet hair 😁
Rear camera, Sport/Touring would be a change in software not actually moving the cam, like eg like GoPro Wide/Medium/Narrow.
Legalize of charging, choking hazard should be no different to people using IEM while riding.. wink
Didn't blur the work address in this video?
Spotify music displayed... don't care.
The Helmet reminds me of LS2, as they make a number of different company's gear.
White/Black/Carbon, eh not fussed. And not annoying at all with the water.
chaseontwowheels what’s the website for the helmet?
Can you please tell me whr you got tht sena ride connected hat !!!!!! Tht ur wearing in the vid
Great review Chase! But... for $1900 id buy a track bike lol
HipsErs that buy things like this ain’t going to the track in their skinny jeans 😂
Just came here to say that I really enjoyed the production value of this video, I can tell how much you've grown as an editor just by watching your videos, great job, keep it up.
I love it. I've been following Skully since your 1st video. I totally plan on getting one eventually. Thank you for the review. I can't wait for his technology to get into more helmets.
dude your video quality....so good! keep them coming
Great review. It was very helpful especially the HUD review and how it works. Thanks again and God bless!
Nice review, although if feels like I've been waiting as long as the helmet was announced to hear your review of it! In depth and covers everything I wanted to know short of how it fairs in a crash.
thank you skully for pressuring other companies to make the future epic!! this thing is epic just need it to be extremely good with compablility with intercoms like sena, scalarider. and gps, tomrom, navigator V and such! bless you Skully :D
I just wanna say that ride clothing line is great. It's really nice to see that type of brand and business selling reasonably priced/still great clothes and not gouging on prices. Can't wait to get some.
What a great surprise! I've been looking forward to this review since you visited them. Thanks Chase!
Thanks for the informative video. I totally agree about the certification issue... if a helmet costs $1800, it should be fricken SNELL rated and nothing less.
Dot is useless and for that price i would not buy a non snell, shame.
What Would Grant Do this is my favorite response ever. 😂😂
With a bunch of gizmo's packed into the helmet my biggest concern is compromised safety (to fit stuff in and keep the helmet light)... they might not be able to get SNELL.
David Kuhn not our problem it’s theirs. They want to enter this market it’s on them. A helmets FIRST and MAJOR responsibility is the safety of the rider wearing it. All the tech is nice but it’s NOT worth a life my friend.
@@dnice4431 "worth a life"? you guys acting like DOT is the same as a novelty helmet. if this helmet can pass ECE then it's practically as safe as SNELL anyways.
I totally thought this helmet would record and replace my go pro, Dang ! And I personally think the white helmet is fresh. Great review, respect! from Santa Monica,Ca
Thanks for the update I got mine when they were $1499.00 and showed the new company and I'm on track to get mine in may at first I was mad for not getting one but I cant wait to try it out not to happy about having to spend the $75 to get the shield but if you love to ride it cost so once again thanks for all the update videos they help out alot keep up the great work.
I would love to try this helmet.. great review
Thanks for the review Chase! Does the Skully Fenix AR-1 have bluetooth communication capabilities so that you can use it to communicate with other riders?
I would definitely go fo the black color version. Another great review bro and I especially enjoyed the cinematics.
Much respect to you for putting that timeline in the beginning of the video!
Thanks for review Chase.
I had 2 questions:
1. Are there controls on the helmet for the volume or is it only controlled via voice controls.
2. For the DOT vs ECE is the choice just for which sticker they put on the back or are there actually hardware differences?
Been waiting for this!!
Good review. Thanks. Scully looks great but out of my price range. Noticed your cell phone mount. Is that your favorite and what is it?
Great video very detailed thank you!!!
Carbon color all the way
Ayyyy chase about to hit 1 mil!
Thanks for the great video Chase! I too am in GA, I noticed you have heated gloves on in this video, I didnt see them listed in the description, wanted to ask if you could let me know what they are and if they are good? Thanks for all the work you do!
Great review, looks super cool and I totally want one, but for $1800 I am like, how do I make one. Ya know a small display + camera + Raspberry Pi + bluetooth
I'll give you 700 for one
How would the skully compare to an Arai Corsair RX7, Arai has a snell and dot rating. How was the air flow when vents where open?
I really like the skully and I'm super excited that it has become a reality.
Watching this on my TV next to my google home. Damn it chase, it was so loud when my google home said there's nothing playing right now. Scared the crap out of me haha
I see the large flashing green lights in the back of the helmet. Are they for the charger? Do they turn red when you stop like bicycle brake lights available?
if you crash and your head slams on the part where the lithium-ion battery is, will the battery vent causing possible suffocation in the helmet due to battery fumes?
Hey Chaseonteowheels have you put a chin GoPro Mount in the Skully Helmet? Any recommendations in which Chin Mount to use? The front area of the Skully Helmet looks a little tricky for a mount.
How do you toggle between modes? GPS to rear view camera to music to battery check?
Is there a headphone jack? Or could I use an adapter in the micro USB plug for wired headphones?
I wear plug-phones to listen to music and for hearing protection because sena speakers are way too quiet when wearing earplugs.
If I could get them to answer an email would be cool. As a dealer wanting to purchase, still no response after 4 days. Not so sure!
west coast moto Not Dot approved I don’t think I’d sell as a dealer
@@Leroyyyyyy the hell are you talking about?
I emailed with a question as well, and it took them 5 days to respond. They said in the email that they were being swarmed with questions and it's taking some time to get to them all. My guess is they will get to you eventually, but yeah I don't see why a "major" corporation they are saying they are would take this long to respond to emails that could get them business.
I got the Nuviz and put it in an excellent helmet. Love it
Sooo I am new to the channel as well as to ridding. I am going to purchase a touring bike and do some state to state ridding. Thank you for your video. Of the videos that I have watched, this is one of the best if not the best review I have observed. I do have one question. What is the difference in certifications? D.O.T and I believe the other was ECID or some lose to that! Is the a legal difference? And which is the better for safety? Thanks I appreciate your input!
Does it come with a big screen TV and an Olympic size swimming pool in there too?
Hey Chase, would love to see your opinion on the Cardo Packtalk Bold. It has the best voice commands for sure as well as the best noise cancelling and wind noise detection, Auto adjusting volume (more wind noise=louder sound, less wind noise=quieter sound), mesh networking and its actually waterproof rated not water resistant like Sena 30K.
when i watch helmet/gear reviews what i want to know in the end of the video all things aside(price mostly) would the reviewer switch to the product being reviewed for there daily use of course that seems subjective but the reviewers use/test a bunch of gear better and longer then i personally would be able to so for me makes a bit of a difference when considering options if the reviewer would not switch does not mean it might be a bad product and i might not buy it but another more comparable piece of data
Thx a lot for this nice review. I've been watching Skully for a while and was very excited about a test. One Question: The rear Camera really shows objects in the dead spot of the rider?
Yes. The 180 degree rear view camera of the SKULLY Fenix AR allows you visibility of traditional blind spot areas.
Yes. Due to the wide-angle lens configuration you have almost 180 degree awareness behind you. One of the many safety feature of the SKULLY Fenix AR.
I understand this Skully offers Music from phone to Helmet through Bluetooth and includes GPS and Telephone capabilities, using the built in Speakers. I use a Sena 10C mostly to film, but also use it for Music and the aforementioned GPS and Telephone stuff. Is there a way to use the SENA 10C with the Existing Speakers and wiring that comes with the Skully, just to Film?
Thanks.
Could you include ventilation and moisture wicking for hot weather riding in the next video? I know it would be difficult with the cold weather but definitely something I'm curious about
Chase I had to LOL, when you said “Siri...” when talking about voice commands my
Phone perked up and was like “were you trying to call me?” It made me laugh...
Any thoughts about the CrossHelmet? I see that it's similar.
Thanks for the review & I’m going with white
Very Crisp Review. And yes,I wld go fr d Carbon Black anytime!!!🤘👍
New subscribers here! I'd love to see a in-depth comprehensive review of the Sena Momentum Pro Helmet!
What is the camera like when its dark outside???
BTW, I would prefer the carbon...
The camera and heads up display work well at night. It does a good job at picking up ambient light and provides a good image.
@@customercare9496 I appreciate the reply but I think that an actual customer review would be better than someone who works for the company
I love the technology but I can't afford it yet. Hopefully in a couple of years the price will go down and the technology will be more common in helmets. But it's definitely something for me to keep a eye on.
Great video Chase! Just bought the Raw Carbon version, but bummed to see on my receipt that it takes 10-12 for it to ship, gotta wonder if they make them as their ordered. keep the videos coming.
@H H - Did the purchased helmet ever arrive, or was it lost in Skully Technologies' ever growing pile of IOU's and broken promises?? If it did arrive, was it anywhere close to the aforementioned estimated shipping timeframe?
i would get a carbon one. you might not be able to answer this but here it goes anyway. i wear glasses and was wondering how easy it would be to put them on with the scully already on? this is alwayskind of a pain with full faced helmets. some have been better than others but with the heads up display is it possible at all? thanks a head of time for youe videos and any input you can give me. keep up the awesome work.
I have put a Skully helmet on. (from the first company that screwed everyone, not the NEW Skully Fenix AR-1) and yes, you can slip glasses on whilst wearing the helmet. I would think that thin metal strip type spectacle arms might cop a bit of abuse after multiple times putting them in and out, so a more flexible plastic arm spectacle arm would probably work better. I wear contact lenses, so it's not an issue, but you might like to wear sunglasses (if you don't have a tinted visor). It will work.
How is the ventilation? Does the visor have a city position? Does the battery get hot?
soledout57 great questions
The air flow in the SKULLY Fenix AR is very good and performs similarly to most full face helmets.
The battery is located outside the shell inside the fin.
How does it work with Cam systems like I have a sena 30k and 20s would it work while you're two up or with your friends?
How do you rate the ventilation system?
And how is the camera vision at night?
just bought the zip up and the winter hat. can't wait.
That R6 headlight unit looks like black manta ray's head. Looks awesome
I'll l
thanks for putting a easy release strap instead of the old D ring which never goes well with new riders! much appreciated Skully.
Thanks for a good review. Can the navigation deal with no internet and therefore offline maps? Also can you specify preferred road type and shortest/quickest?
Has to be the Black version 😎
Not yet. It will part of the next release.
Does the helmet update over the app? if not then it does not have over the air updates. most likely its a USB update
I had a transition visor on a way cheaper helmet the only issue I have a brow line that gets a hot spot. The speakers on my sena 10c pro fit snug in the ear pockets and i can hear it clear even when pipeless on my zx14r
Great review as always! I would imagine that if you clicked on ECE, that it would also be DOT approved. It's probably either DOT only or ECE/DOT, paying extra for the ECE?DOT helmet.
ECE will not cost extra
Chase, next time your riding past SKULLY HQ, can you drop in and see if anyone is still there, they don’t seem to answer any emails.....thanks in advance from the United Kingdom.
I honestly thought they went bankrupt since they killed their kickstarter. I was surprised seeing this review
Does it have any ability to link up with bluetooth communicators for multiple riders or would a separate set of speakers need to be installed?
The SKULLY Fenix AR offers communication through the smart phone via Bluetooth. This model currently does not support third party intercom protocols, but we are exploring option for upcoming software releases. Note that the SKULLY Fenix AR firmware is OTA capable, meaning it can be updated over-the-air when the helmet is in a Wifi environment.
Chase can you switch the hud to the left side of the helmet
Good vid, great info
13:24 misspelled USB Chase. Love ya any who, keep up the great work man
Umm. If you're going to be so pedantic..."Love you anyhow"...not "Love ya any who". Just saying.
Chase you said the audio was to soft, was that with or withouth hearing protection in? You are insane if you ride without them but some people still do. Just wondering if you do it or not. Should probably have put that in the video at the audio part... since so many people ride with hearing protection
Phoenix az get to 120 in the summer. Would u recommend this in az? Based on battery
Is there any way to use the Skully to communicate to other riders like a Sena can do? Having the speakers for music and navigation is great but helmet-to-helmet audio is just as necessary in my opinion.
Nice video!!! But can skully intercom with any orther bluetooth devices?? Sena? Blink?? Etc?
The SKULLY Fenix AR offers communication through your smart phone via Bluetooth. This model does not support third party intercom protocols at this time.
I was rear ended last week and something like this is priceless. A concusion and multiple FX in my back. I'm lucky to have not been killed.
Good day. Can you get this helmet outside of the USA if so are there eny drawbacks thanks ride safe
Great video. Ride safe chase
Great review! Just one comment... please check the tyre pressure of your rear tyre! Looks deflated.
If your LEFT eye dominant .... Can you move it to the left side ??
I used mine to ride to and from ft Lauderdale last week in 40ish degree weather. the helmet was very comfotable. the only issue I had. chase touched on. the battery life and spotify only. i used iheartradio the whole time without issue though. like he said. if you can drop 1800, it is worth the experience.
Needs to come in more color combinations, I have a blue bike and I'd like blue gear IF I was to get one. But it looks like a really cool helmet and I'm looking forwards to where the market goes because of it.
Does it include the photocromatic pin lock?
How about misspelling of Micro-USB as Micro-UBS at about 13:23?
Good review!
Wait, skully is back?! YEAH! Looks like I found my helmet!
Hey Chase,! Whats up with Skully are they closed up. I have had o reply to 5 emails? Are They done?. Please let me know what you find out.
Thanks! Joseph
Thumbs up 👍
Great Review
Many thanks
Any update on how this helmet is working out Chase?
Wow okay thank you for that little tid bit about having a round oval head and not an intermediate oval. I too have just found out to have a more rounded oval headshape after purchasing my first helmet - shoei rf-1200. I have been thinking about try trying to sell it semi-new and taking a loss and buying arai. But it's not that bad, I can probably wear it for a few hours without hot spots.. so maybe I'll stick with it. Uhh.. lol
How’s the helmet at night in a darker scene
I remember for first Review on this Helmet and I enjoyed it but the old company never came through and a lot of people lost out. I was able to get me refund back right before the 2 brothers that owned the company spent everyone's money on Expensive Cars and Luxury Trips. The 2 brothers could've been billionaires! But greed always gets you in the end but Chase Great Video once again and I'm still on the fence as far as purchasing one. Stay safe 🏍 Bro! God Bless you and your family 😉👍🏾🙏🏾✌🏾❤🕊⚔
Can you try and find out something since you have the helmet? My doubt is for people like me, I´m almost 50 and use glasses to read, I have what is known as tired vision, I see well in a distance but not close up, to read, I need glasses. Since that screen is no close to our right eye, I am curious about the focal point. Is it set to infinite and we can focus anyway even though its so close or is it impossible for people who need readying glasses? CAN you get someone who needs reading glasses to try on your helmet and let me know if he was able to see it properly?
First off, nice review done there.
Secondly, the quick release lock you're talking about in 4:40, helmets here in the Philippines are already using those type of locks. Just saying.
But still nice review and great helmet.
Nice video thanks. Is there an kind of intercom functionality to allow rider to passenger chat or group chat etc like the Sena 20S?
Not yet. Working on it.
My biggest question is, If I am riding with a buddy, and they are using a SENA headset, will this helmet connect to their SENA to allow communication from rider to rider without adding a SENA to the SKULLY? Thanks.
Curtis Haley hmmmm good question🤔
Thats a really good question. Hopefully Skully can chim in on here and let us know.
chaseontwowheels mine will arrive in February, so if they don’t chime in by then, maybe I can test it out and update folks.... unless you feel like testing it out for us since you are hands on already.
By the way, I live in Knoxville and I am the General Sales Manager for Indian/Triumph of Knoxville. Stop by anytime you are in the area. Maybe we can do some riding when this cold leaves.
Pretty sure that’s not possible with the Skully. The Bluetooth protocol that SENA uses isn’t the same as say your phone pairing with a radio.
You may be able to pair it using the universal pairing mode of a SENA/Cardo, but the problem with that is the huge lack of range and audio quality. They will basically have to be your passenger. Oh, and unless the Skully handles multiple Bluetooth connections, your phone is now useless as it’s not paired (making the Skully useless right?)
This is why the Skully is a no go for me. Having comm units during my group rides is something I can’t give up, and owning a $1500 helmet and another $600 helmet with another $300 in a Cardo, is just not worth it.
Sena works with everything else. I've connected to others and did we not learn from the last skully
Chase you make the highest quality videos in the entire motorcycle community. I hope you know that. Thanks!
How does it do in the rain and fogging?..
Hey Chase, I was looking for thin enough speakers for my Icon Variant. Any suggestions?
sena smh10r speakers are perfect fit
Chase have you looked into speaking with iCH, (Intelligent Cranium Helmets), to check out one of theirs once they have the test models ready? If you can snag one of those I'd love to see your review.
Hope they're thinking of making it a bit more affordable, though the price seems to be fair having that they are the ones who's pioneering these type of equipment/gear in the market... 2k just doesnt seem to be budget friendly though... Great review by the way... All the way here from Manila, Philippines...
Since im far sighted, i feel like the HUD would be too blurry to even figure out what im looking at through the small display. I could be wrong.
Whr can I purchase tht sena ride connect har ur wearing??
Interesting review. Do you foresee any issues with strapping a Lithium battery next to your head? Lithium batteries are not renowned for standing up well to impacts such as those encountered in a motorcycle accident or high temperatures, such as the friction heating caused when a motorcycle helmet scrapes across the tarmac. I assume Skully have thought this through but I couldn’t find any reference to it on their website.
Have a question about sizing and returns. I’ve emailed skully and have yet to hear back from them. Who can I call or contact to refer my questions to before I decide to drop 2K on this product
I guess my question is does it feel like a normal helmet when it’s on?
I was curious about riding it in hot weather? Does it breathe? Not seeing many vents
The air flow in the SKULLY Fenix AR is very good and performs similarly to most full face helmets.
