    * I HAVE NOT SOLD THE M2 COMPETITION* Like I've said in the beginning, it's a hypothetical question...
    So what car would you replace your sports car with, if you HAD to sell it? Comment below & thanks for watching!

    I have tried both the current version of the Macan GTS and the version before the facelift. Both are in my option the closest to a “fun daily driver” you can get without being a sports car. It is one of the best cars if one should have the perfect one car for almost any weather and use. You can drive to work in comfort - take the family on long holiday drives and still have fun on a back road if you want to. If you live in a country like Sweden that gets snow ❄️ during winter time, this car will not let you down.

    You know what else, life is full of trade offs. Also a consideration is whether it is your only car or second car. If one, the Macan is awesome! But a second car can be more performance focused or extreme, because it’s not an everyday car.

    I drive M2 Comp and was invited by BMW to drive the entire M lineup on track. I have to say that I was blown away by X3M's power and handling. Of course M2C gave me the best experience overall, but if I needed and AAV, no doubt I'd consider X3M, this thing comes much closer to M2C as I thought!!!

    I have an M2 LCI and was in the same shoes that you were. Macan GTS was really a serious candidate. But I really do want to keep my M2 so much. I didn’t want to replace it. I bought an f30 340i xdrive for daily use with family. A macan gts costs nearly the price of both in my country. I am happy with the decision. I still keep the M2 :)

    I am a m2 comp owner too, I live in Canada where snows for more than 4 month, I even drive to ski resorts before the snow trucks arrive. if a Canadian can survive winter without AWD, 80% of the population in the world who live in city don’t need AWD. If I do want a 4-door family car and trade in my m2, the G80 m3 will definitely be the one, it got more comfort and practical feature than most of practical cars and it almost as fun as an m2. But if I can keep m2, just simply have a cheap, reliable mpv or wagon for the occasions when more than 3 passengers

    • @karlxu782

      if BMW is really going to release m3 touring, it will be the best all-in-one car in the world, at least to me. it has all the features I ever wanted on a single car, except for hardcore off-road capability, but no other sedan has neither.

    When you live in a place where you have to take into account the road imperfections (potholes etc) but you feel the need of a sports vehicle it all comes down to the Macan GTS with 20s (mandatory), otherwise the M2 will perish too soon and you’ll regret it, unless you plan to use it only in the best highways and track days...

    I have 2 f80’s and a macan gts. Macan gts is by far a better daily driver. Awd, smoother, more quiet, more space. But it’s far worse on fuel and not as fun. But overall It’s a hard decision on which one to keep. The macan is a lot better on the interior and so easy to drive. The f80 is more fun and makes you wanna drive hard every time. F80 is also surprisingly good on gas. F80 had a better stereo system too I think.

    I've never really considered the m2 a sports car. It is a sporty 2 door car. But I guess that's not really important in this comparison. The Macan GTS is a very good compact SUV. It drives as close to a regular sedan as it can while still having the increased ride height.

  • @kimmartin6344
    @kimmartin6344 3 года назад +1

    I sold my M2 for a Macan Turbo. Most of the time on UK roads the M2 is waiting for the few moments you can exploit it and then it comes alive. The Macan Turbo is much better to drive and more refined and still enjoyable when an open road presents itself.The Macan is more expensive and (in my view) is not a sports car but, for me, neither is the M2. It cannot hide its humble origins. Yes, it's very fast but not in the same league as a Cayman 718 GTS 4.0 for driver enjoyment.

    • @TunedIntoCars
      @TunedIntoCars  3 года назад

      I beg to differ. The M2 competition is definitely in the same league as the GTS4.0. It's not as precise a driving machine as the Porsche, but definitely up there with it as far as driver enjoyment is concerned.

    I had e92 m3 - great car, great sound but swapped it for a Macan S Diesel. Without passengers the M3 is faster but with passengers they both go round corners the same - limited by Passenger complaints. For me the Macan is better than the M3 - I drive it daily and even though the diesel is quiet, it’s preparing me for the move to MacanE.

  • @fastdays_1
    @fastdays_1 3 года назад +1

    I was considering a Macan GTS (first series, not this one) but then I read about the MANY (95%) owners having issues with the distribution cover leaks (aluminum bolts which broke and cause the leaks - this happens to the 3.0 engines so the S and GTS): if not under warranty, it's a 6 to 8k bill! and also, the transfer case issue and leaks too.....I was almost ready to buy one but then I changed my mind due to these known issues (and few other bits and pieces related to poor assembly and electronic). I'm a porsche guy and I love porsches but this is quite scary....

    • @TunedIntoCars
      @TunedIntoCars  3 года назад

      I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, but how have you determined that 95%? I highly doubt that's the case. Usually when it's a widespread issues Porsche is very good at fixing these issues. See the 718 gt4 and 991.1 gt3 engines.
      This situation sounds very similar to the crank hub issue of the S55 BMW engine. A lot of people say most of the engines have that problem but in fact the percentage of people that experience the issue is quite low.

    • @fastdays_1
      @fastdays_1 3 года назад +1

      @@TunedIntoCars I know but unfortunately this is confirmed by dealers (only those who wants to disclose of course) and Porsche mechanics or specialist...I’m always very careful in verifying “words” about common issues but these seems to be very much real unfortunately. And you are right about Porsche fixing this issue: the restyling Macan doesn’t have that issue (and other were partially fixed) but I like more the first gen (design wise) and it’s also much cheaper now.

    Both engines, the S55 in M2 and the Audi engine in Macan/SQ5, are obsolete and prone to have mechanical problems. The best option in the Macan-sized market segment is one of the B58-engined cars: 340i GT, 440i GC, M340i, M340i wagon, or the upcoming M440i GC (which is sized in between the GT and GC of the previous generation, and tossing in more horsepower). All these options deliver far more low-end torque useable in normal street traffic and are far more reliable than the VW 3.0L and 2.9L turbo engines in any of the Macan variants. All the B48-engined options listed above can do 0-60 in 4.7seconds or better; the M340i (and likely the new M440GC) can do 3.8 seconds.

    • @kpiskin
      @kpiskin 3 года назад

      @@TunedIntoCars It really depends on what suspension you get with the Macan Turbo. You really need the air suspension with PASM. The Macan isn’t as far behind as one might think. Obviously, the M2 ups the performance from the 135is but I think it’s easy for me to say the Macan Turbo performs better than the 135is and just below the M2. However, you are also getting a lot in return by having a largish hot hatch instead of a compromised coupe. I cannot fit in the back of an M2 and I am not tall.

  • @Michael-ub9jb

    Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. The transfer case on my 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.
