I still don't get why you keep linking the Haina desert with Pearl Harbor when they are on totally different Islands. The Pearl Harbor is at Honolulu, which should be equivalent to Melemele Island in the game.
True, Pearl Harbour would most similarly line up with the Hau’oli Marina or Kala’e Bay but I guess this is more of a general reference with Alola being based on Hawai’i. In any case the desert could be referencing the lives lost in the bombing even if the location doesn’t line up or the European explorers and traders decimating the indigenous population with diverse diseases back in the day or the constant loss of life in the islands due to the several violent eruptions of Kilauea and Mauna Loa (mainly). In any case the connection of harsh deserts in Pokémon regions being linked to massive loss of human life is kinda enforced by the name of the Alolan desert: The word ‘Hainā’ means ‘cruel’ in Hawaiian.
I know Hainā’ means cruel in Hawaiian, but this can have different explanations, doesn't "need to" be linked to WW2. I know Hoops and Hip Hop love to make these linkages that he thinks are "obvious", but come on sometimes the evidence is just not enough to convince other people, they're just theories and can easily be argued. I am pretty well aware of Pokemon locations counterparts in the real world and some possible inspirations like I totally agree with the part that Hoenn based on Kyushu has something to do with the atomic bomb (but if you look closer at the real map you will find out the location he mentioned is a bit far away, not really close enough to be accurate), but this part of the Pearl Harbor? I'm sorry I just don't buy this explanation. If the desert is around Hau'oli city or Kala'e Bay then sure I'll totally agree with this opinion.
Yeah, according to bulbapedia, and comparing the map of hawaii to alola, hau’oli city marina is based on pearl harbour, the cities they’re located in even match, and the Haina Desert is actually just based on a real desert-like area in hawaii, the Kaʻū Desert.

to be fair, game and anime mewtwo's haven't been confirmed (just the manga). but that said,it's most likely the case anyway (though i HIGHLY doubt dr.fuji is putting his daughter's DNA into the body of a mew clone experiment that's designed to be the ultimate weapon/tool of a crime boss).
mewtwo is also controlled by a giant spoon in that case. seriously the manga has so much stupid nonscense that it makes it very hard to take it as canon. espically the whole pokemon fusion thing.
i get that the manga writers have the official pokemon name and all but it just doesnt add up at all with the mainline games. its even less canon then the anime imo.
@@johnmarkson1990 the giant spoon makes mewtwo become stronger and control his power better. Mewtwo is phychic so him and Blaine being able to speak telephatically makes some sense (not that much but still). Also the anime spouts weird stuff sometimes, such as Ash's pikachu being able to take down multiple legendaries but not being able to take down a level 5 snivy who only knows tackle and growl. But for non cannon theres the fan theory that pikachu gets gets reset every new region which doesnt make ANY sense
According to your desert theory, I think the Kalos desert could be based onbthe battle of the Somme from World War I. It makes the game freak interview interesting since references to both wars are then included in the game, and World War II is already a breaking of the "It should not happen again" wish in itself, that was made just after World War I
At least he's not harping on about how Gamefreak is "genius" because he made an acrobatic periodt of a stretch and connected two unremarkable and irrelevant details together and decided that they were significant. Remember when Matpat used to make videos that included more than just ramblings and wild speculation with zero evidence to back it up? Yeah, me neither.
If you're going to be making a region based on a real world location, of course some areas are going to line up with locations of historical events. Just because the Ruins of Alph happens to be in the same location as an atomic bomb and Unowns are written on the floor does not mean it's a reference to WWII. Most of this is just grasping at straws.
Bruh, this is all huge stretches. My favorite part was him posting a screenshot of an interview where they outright said they did not use WWII as inspiration for X/Y and then proceeds to say it’s without a doubt inspired by it lmao.
It's really strange he says Hoenna desert is where oone of the atomic bombs were dropped when that location is actually Littleroot Town/Oldale Town. But, life is obviously a reference to WWII, as Germans, Jews, France and Nuclear Physics all exist.
There should be a prequel of Pokémon: X and Y were Kalos was invaded by an unknown region, if the region borders another unseen region. If dat ever happens.
dear god you think this is dark wait till you see the manga the gym leaders in unova are put on the cross for trying to stop team plasma and how rosa was apart of team plasma while Blake was a member of the international police so both of them would have seen loads of things
The human dna supposedly used to create Mewtwo isn´t from Dr. Fuji´s daughter. It´s from Blaine. Which also explains their borderline psychic connection in the manga.
I see a lot people saying that this video is wrong because in the manga Mewtwo's Human DNA came from Blaine. But the thing is manga canon is not the same in anime canon. Think of manga canon, and anime canon (also game canon) as their own separate universe. They may follow similar stories using similar characters but have their own differences. The manga Mewtwo may have Blaine's DNA but Anime Mewtwo and probably Game Mewtwo might have other human's DNA. HoopsandHipHop is mostly discussing about the anime version of Mewtwo and that Anime Mewtwo might have human DNA and probably came from Amber.
I feel like the Kalos/WWII connection is just a coincidence. Trust me, crazy coincidences like this happens all the time, and many of them are way crazier than this.
in the adventures manga it was clearly they used gym leader Blaines dna in Mewtwo in that version, with him being one of the main scientists who worked with Fuji in Mewtwos creation
I take this a step farther to say Amber's game counterpart is Green/Leaf. Let's Go did not help debunk that theory. Well, Leaf/Green is Amber's clone is the theory.
"Human or pokemon, maybe that make difference to other, but not for me" "Yeah that definitely sound like a person who may end up throwing pokeballs at random people" - You mean like this theory from game Theorist? (Actually I think it make a lot of sense). Actually Green could just be Amber, and she actually didn't die but was just cut from those machines and thus her connection with mMewtwo was kinda broken.
@@KingofBeasts444 I'm not sure what are You asking about, but yes, this is quote from Game Theorists video Mewtwo's Secret Human Clone (ruclips.net/video/rsApCFiokS0/видео.html)
Mewtwo's origins go a bit deeper than that. Dr. Fuji used the funding from Team Rocket to secretly fund his research into cloning his daughter, he not only likely used Amber's DNA as material for that reason but also viewed and treated Mewtwo as his own son. He goes out of his way to protect him from Giovanni and Mewtwo actually views Fuji like a father in return. On the deserts representing wars and bombing, as dark as it is there's a bit of a positive side to it as well. All these places have started to recover and are teeming with new life much like new growth following a wild fire. Its a brilliant showcase of life finding a way.
Here are two ones I thought of, in case you ever make a part 2. Animal abuse exists in pokemon. This is canon, we see evil teams like team plasma mention this while we see them kick munna, and stuff like that. But it’s not just the evil teams. In the original games there are trainers (Sabrina and one or two trainer classes) who have whips. You were going to whip pokemon in the beta too but the cut it, I can see why. Another one is hoenn. I saw this in a video, but it was a long time ago so sorry if there isn’t much detail. Hoenns plot with team magma and aqua was based on something happening in Japan at the time. Something was happening with the water around Japan, so they started making artificial land. But this wasn’t good for the environment so people were protesting this. Game freak made this into the plot to spread awareness about the situation.
For a second, I thought you said "Morpork College" and I thought it was a Discworld themed LARPing group. The Team Flare thing is added to by the fact that Lysander won the trust of the Kalosian populus.
while the route 4 desert is where you would expect the world trade center to be (with castelia city being the garment district and nimbasa city being times square) the area of pearl harbor is represented in sun and moon by kala'e bay also insert chinpokomon joke here
Your grasping at non existent straws all of these are “theories “ ones which lack truth and in one instance was even rejected by game freak, and the mewtwo one is just dumb, as you purposely ignore the manga and mewtwo in it having blaines dna
Maybe that's because the manga the games and the anime have nothing to do with each other and he was talking about the games not the manga yes he referenced anime for a little bit but that's normal when you think of a game and some people don't even consider the manga Canon
About the only thing stopping the Kalos = WW2 theory from being a direct rip off of the war, is that Team Flare's actions and ideals happened loooong after the war, but then, there is still a small war between them and the 'allies.' this being you and your group of friends. And the 'war' still ends with a WMD. Take it how you will :P
It is, but anime, games and manga are kinda like separated canons. Though to limited extent they cane work together, but sooner or later we would be forced to choose the preffered source, as not all elements can actually fit together and some parts will have to be excluded. But yeah, MewTwo having a Blaine's DNA could work in any canon I think...
Actually if you look a Kalos map and compare it to France, the desert route (route 13) is on the area where D-day (Normandy landing in WW2) happened. Also the Courmarine City (The one with the Grass-Gym) is about the same location as Omaha beach.
Mewtwo does canonically have human DNA. I have read that in the Manga Mewtwo contains Blane's DNA and interestingly there are fanfics in which he contains Giovanni's. I love the idea of him having Amber's. I adore that little story.
Not only is the Haina desert not on the coast (as other comments point out), it's not even on the right island. Haina desert is on Ula'Ula, which is modeled after "The Big Island" (or Hawaii proper). Pearl Harbor is on Oahu, whose game counterpart is Mele Mele Island (where you start out).
7:30 hey hoops when you were taking about the Hoenne region and its conection to ww2 i thought if meteor falls could have something to do with this and i kinda found something: japan was relentlesly bombed by the allies in ww1 and the craters in meteor falls could be from bombs insteaad of meteors
Funny thing You said that, cause with my brother I actually work on region based on Poland (well Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to be more precise). Though without a planes of refferencing WWII much (I don't say we don't do it at all for sure, but... well it's not among our plans. The topic of WWII is very overused imo). Still if there would be region based on German the past war of those 2 regions is a likely thing
According to a girl in Lysandre Café, it costs 5,000,000 PokéDollars to join Team Flare. So apparently you have to be rich AND beautiful, if you don't want to be Thanos snapped
What you are talking about isn't cloning, it's genetic engineering. We (in RL and in universe) don't know enough about pokemon breeding/conception to even think about attempting cloning as we know it today.
So not "disturbing things included that GameFreak won't admit", but "disturbing theories fans insist are true despite GameFreak saying otherwise, and the Mewtwo DNA splicing they directly state in an added scene to one of the movies and reference in the Let's Go games while not even being all that disturbing" Seriously, aside from the Mewtwo one, which they directly state in the movie (or did you really think GameFreak has absolutely no input on the show and movies despite co-founding The Pokemon Company?), all of these are just shitty fan theories. Repetitive, shitty fan theories that all just talk about WWII. Not to mention the more personal annoyance of getting an ad at the start of the video... Only for another ad to be crammed into the video itself in the form of a sponsorship, but idk how many others care about that.
Yeah I also hate that. It's one of the most annoying thing among popular RUclipsrs... And yeah actually nothing in the video is that disturbing. Sure, the Mewtwo part has some more serious tones, but disturbing? Not this much, though it is one of more heart wrenching stories in the pokemon universe. And WWII theories... wouldn't be so disturbing even it they wouldn't be farfetched.
Japan has also been working on a bunker city under Osaka that has been dubbed Tokyo 2 in case something happens on Honshu that makes the current capital uninhabitable.
Yes! I totally believe the Mewtwo theory! It just makes too much sense. Especially since Mewtwo can't transform. I never considered that it had Dr. Fugi's daughters DNA tho. That is really dark..
Because it doesn’t have amber’s DNA😅 Mewtwo canonically has human DNA, as was revealed in the Pokémon Adventures manga. However, the DNA it has is not Amber’s - It’s Blaine’s. Blaine and Fuji are brothers, so Fuji used Blaine’s DNA to stabilize Mewtwo. It was a major plot point for that part of the manga.
One very sad detail in Pokemon games is that Cubone wears the skull of its dead mother. Surprising detail in games that are also for children. (I'm not sure if children actually find that sad; a lot of traditional fairy tales are very violent and lots of children of a certain age find that sort of thing very intriguing. I know that I sure did when I was about 7 or 8.)

TBH, I made a point of going through The First Movie frame by frame, including the uncut origin. It's explained that point of Mewtwo for Dr. Fuji was to create a creature with such strong psychic powers that he would survive the cloning process. There's no reason why human genes would be included in that, certainly not Amber's.
The movie is a lot easier to come by than the manga that confirms Blaine's DNA being present. Cloning still feels like a controversial topic to discuss IRL let alone in a series that is made to include children in its audience. So the idea of including human DNA in Mewtwo might've gone over some kids' heads, it would've been caught by those who understand, and that most likely would've resulted in backlash.
Fuji was compared to Dr. Frankenstein in the 1st Movie when the Team Rocket Trio find a message he recorded. The Frankenstein Monster (sorry I know it's a matter of perspective) was a body created by combining parts from various others. Cloning was never that controversial to put into literature & to be fair cloning does happen naturally in the real world. Identical siblings born together are technically natural clones & there are certain species that solely reproduce by creating clones of themselves as a form of asexual reproduction. The only real controversy with cloning comes from the unnatural cloning of humans from what I understand. People haven't ever found the cloning of plants as controversial. Now what is done with the cloned organisms is where all the controversy comes into play. The creation of clones to create an army or labor force, or to treat them as nothing more than an organ factory for example.
@@princesspikachu3915 The lore & effect of Frankenstein is complex. The Films may have not been faithful to the novel, however they had a huge impact. Frankensteining became a term for producing experimental conglomerations even if there was nothing mentioned about that in the book. My brain is mixed up right now to where I can't remember things accurately it seems. Weren't we talking about Mewtwo & cloning in general rather than Frankenstein? I admit that the idea of artificial life born in laboratories started with Mary Shelly's story, although DNA wasn't discovered until the 1950s right? The cloning of life is much more modern & the same holds true for genetic engineering.

02:47, 04:24 - In the official Pokemon Adventures manga, Mewtwo canonically got human DNA from Blaine (the Fire type gym leader, which is Dr. Fuji's brother). So maybe it's not as big a secret as you think.
Did Blaine canonically survive?
@@Dark_Side_Productions Yes, he was still alive in the manga.
@@Dark_Side_Productions yeah he survived and was one of the only one's besides Yellow to be able to control Mewtwo and that required a giant spoon or something with psychic ability. The closest Pokemon actually got to referencing the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings was in the Sinnoh games, where apparently dates corresponding to sad events have lowered encounter rates.

Even more so when you consider that in my fanfiction Mewtwo is a clone of me and my salami sandwich.

Gamefreak: No.
H&HH: Clearly based on WW2.
Dude, I get where you are trying to come from but no. Clearly not based on it, just a surprising coincidence according to Word of God. WoG trumps fan opinion when it comes to "what inspired you while making the game".
I'm pretty sure Holocaster was from Holograph & Podcaster with similarity to that certain word being completely unintentional. It's really silly that these crazy fans obsessively believe that as the basis for Team Flare. I do admit most evil takes loose inspiration from them in fiction as they are the textbook example of evil, however the entire goals & ideologies of Team Flare are massively different from the German Party that I fear my message's removal if I mention Them by name. Team Rocket have taken inspiration from Them at times. The ancient war & ultimate weapon were inspired from Mythology not any history from the 20th Century.
H&HH has really lost his credibility as of recently. His videos have become more about watching his insanity as he tries to make Pokemon Content it feels. He recently disrespected Dialga & Palkia & enraged the fans of Sinnoh Monkeys in another of his videos I watched earlier. The guy needs to take a break from releasing new videos, because I don't think he's using Rest enough. @@MisterMusicMan92 I should watch his most recent videos to see if his mind has gotten any worse. A lot of drastically different words exist that have close spellings out there, which makes the argument fail. This should further be boosted by the fact that English isn't the primary language of these developers. If you were to try to name something in a foreign language, I'm sure that there would be unintended similarities to other words.
Being based on war in general, sure it might take a few nods from any given war, especially those France took part in. But saying it's based on one war in particular is silly.

Second. Also, in the comics it confirms this. And no, it's from Blain, the Fire type Gym Leader. At least in the comics.
I love how you pose mewtwo being half human as a theory like it hasn’t already been confirmed 🤦🏼♀️
to be fair, game and anime mewtwo's haven't been confirmed (just the manga). but that said,it's most likely the case anyway (though i HIGHLY doubt dr.fuji is putting his daughter's DNA into the body of a mew clone experiment that's designed to be the ultimate weapon/tool of a crime boss).
mewtwo is also controlled by a giant spoon in that case. seriously the manga has so much stupid nonscense that it makes it very hard to take it as canon. espically the whole pokemon fusion thing.
i get that the manga writers have the official pokemon name and all but it just doesnt add up at all with the mainline games. its even less canon then the anime imo.
Wasn't it Blaine's dna in the manga?
@@johnmarkson1990 the giant spoon makes mewtwo become stronger and control his power better. Mewtwo is phychic so him and Blaine being able to speak telephatically makes some sense (not that much but still). If the manga still has some stupid nonsense what about being able to cancel evolution using frequencies from the pokedex? That one made SO much sense.
I find bombshadows one of the most horrifying things to exist
According to your desert theory, I think the Kalos desert could be based onbthe battle of the Somme from World War I. It makes the game freak interview interesting since references to both wars are then included in the game, and World War II is already a breaking of the "It should not happen again" wish in itself, that was made just after World War I
This video should've just been "all WWII references in Pokemon" saving the title of this video for another video later down the line.

In the Adventures manga Mewtwo shares DNA with Blane. The manga actually gets pretty gritty and dark.
Oh wow, I just saw the ruins of Alph part of the vid, this is actually actively kind of offensive...
There should be a prequel of Pokémon: X and Y were Kalos was invaded by an unknown region, if the region borders another unseen region.

Blaine's dna was added to Mewtwo

Team Flare somewhat makes me thought of Eren and his Team Yeagerist.
Yeah Mewtwo has like 3 different origin stories and it was all because they had different people working on it
Here are two ones I thought of, in case you ever make a part 2.
Alternate Title: "Pokémon is actually a tale about World War 2"
I love Halloween! The spooky content is muchly appreciated! I can't get enough of it! Thanks for being awesome!
And to think I thought that the Kalos war was inspired by the 100 Years War. Live And Learn
Yeah the 100 Year War inspired it far more than any history from the 20th Century, although most of it was also based on Mythology I thought.
while the route 4 desert is where you would expect the world trade center to be (with castelia city being the garment district and nimbasa city being times square) the area of pearl harbor is represented in sun and moon by kala'e bay
also insert chinpokomon joke here
Some of these could be coincidental, but it’s interesting to theorize on.
In the comics it is said that Blane’s dna is in mewtwo
Your grasping at non existent straws all of these are “theories “ ones which lack truth and in one instance was even rejected by game freak, and the mewtwo one is just dumb, as you purposely ignore the manga and mewtwo in it having blaines dna
Yeah it was hard to watch tbh
Maybe that's because the manga the games and the anime have nothing to do with each other and he was talking about the games not the manga yes he referenced anime for a little bit but that's normal when you think of a game and some people don't even consider the manga Canon
amen. it was actually pretty annoying that most of the video was basically the same theory of "gamefreak has a thing for WWII".
Mewtwo having human DNA as well as Mew DNA would also be an explanation why it's one of 2 likeminded with a split mega evolution line.
In the Pokémon adventures manga Mewtwo has Blaine’a DNA
good job, as always. thanks for the video
Keep it up on your work and this channel
Blaine is part of Mewtwo in the manga
Isn’t it confirmed in the manga that mewtwo is part human due to him having blaines dna

What you are talking about isn't cloning, it's genetic engineering. We (in RL and in universe) don't know enough about pokemon breeding/conception to even think about attempting cloning as we know it today.
So not "disturbing things included that GameFreak won't admit", but "disturbing theories fans insist are true despite GameFreak saying otherwise, and the Mewtwo DNA splicing they directly state in an added scene to one of the movies and reference in the Let's Go games while not even being all that disturbing"
Seriously, aside from the Mewtwo one, which they directly state in the movie (or did you really think GameFreak has absolutely no input on the show and movies despite co-founding The Pokemon Company?), all of these are just shitty fan theories. Repetitive, shitty fan theories that all just talk about WWII.

@@bookmew1081 Frankenstein’s monster was not created by multiple body parts. Have you even read the novel?
@@princesspikachu3915 The lore & effect of Frankenstein is complex. The Films may have not been faithful to the novel, however they had a huge impact. Frankensteining became a term for producing experimental conglomerations even if there was nothing mentioned about that in the book.

Well considering Giovanni's megalomany and how he wanted most powerfull pokemon I once theorised that MewTwo can have Giovanni's DNA. Kinda fitting with his behaviour in the first movie too.
