    I always thought it was named Pallet town because all the other towns are named after colours so the place you'd start when painting would be to use a pallet to apply the colours

    • @BrotherGreed
      @BrotherGreed Год назад +9

      While your explanation makes sense and is probably the original intention before they retconned it, it's worth noting that painters use "palettes" not "pallets."

    • @XxYamiNoEnzeruxX
      @XxYamiNoEnzeruxX Год назад +13

      @@BrotherGreed I believe that homophones as jokes are pretty popular in Japanese writing so it wouldn't surprise me if the misspelling is purposeful because they thought it was funny XD they also cut everything down as small as possible to fit everything they wanted into the game, that may be a factor too.

    • @jackmilburn3819
      @jackmilburn3819 Год назад +3

      I suppose they gave it a sort of "in-universe" explanation. I was aware of that Pallet Town fact while it was being said in the video.

    • @Justic_
      @Justic_ Год назад +5

      @@XxYamiNoEnzeruxX note that the Japanese name of Pallet town isn't literally Pallet town (it wouldn't be spelled like this anyways, it'd be spelled in Katakana and thus they can't really misspell it as something that sounds the same), it's Masara Town, which comes from Japanese for "brand new" and sounds similar to the word for "pure white".
      As for the explanation behind the towns name, I'd say this is very clearly an anime-only thing, since a) the towns in Gen 1 are of course all named after colors, but more importantly b) it goes completely against series lore from the games, back then and now, because it claims Pokemon trainers to have already been a thing at the time of Oaks great grandfather, so even before the professor was born, probably more than 100 years before when the Kanto-games are set, when Pokemon trainers still would've been relatively new as a concept and there definitely wouldn't have been a Pokemon League yet, since lore back then stated that Pokemon are a relatively recently discovered thing in the first place, and in recent lore we learn Pokeballs only came to be around that time, and with them the idea of someone "training" Pokemon for a living.

      Considering its BST is so similar (even being in between Pikachu and Eevee), it's also considered a mascot of sorts, and is also a 2-stage (at least in gen 1) that evolves via stone, I'd say Clefairy is a great choice.
      Pikachu BST: 320
      Clefairy BST: 323
      Eevee BST: 325

    20:50 this leads to an interesting point: it's noted that Lt. Surge served in "the war" and in 1st gen this was strongly assumed to be based on a real-life war of some sort, given the setting included a lot more influence from and allusions to real life back then. Thing is, there are two strong contenders for which conflict this was supposed to have been: either the Gulf War (being the most recent conflict) and WWII (an assumption you sometimes just see for the obvious reason of "it'd be interesting to assume Surge was a WWII vet and former occupation personnel who went on to move to Japan and end up a gym leader").
    On the one hand, the latter seems anomalous given how young Lt. Surge looks, if we assume the game was set in the same general time period it was released, making the "based off the Gulf War" interpretation much more logical. But it's well known that one of the trainers in the gym, depicted as an old man, refers to Surge as his CO. So either Surge had a career soldier under his command who just could not hold onto a promotion during all that time, or Surge is quite a lot older than he looks.

    I would love a full depth analysis on why Necrozma, Terapagos, and if you look at it closely, Eternatus all have some relation with crystals and their bodies resemble crystals. I’m almost convinced that when the ultimate weapon fired, it caused certain pokemon to mutate just as the evolution stones did, creating these three Crystal Legendaries

      This makes sense but I really doubt that the "ultimate weapon" will ever be referenced again. All the theories line up perfectly apart from the fact that Kalos isn't the region above Paldea. • @tkfarms7882

    Karen is a relative of Clair. She has taken the teaching of the Master/Elder in the Dragon's Den to heart and echoes his line regarding strong and weak Pokemon. This means she more likely has a connection to Blackthorn City.

      @@cobaltlance18 Legends Arceus' character Sanqua has a strong resemblance to Karen, but also via dialogue has an outfit in her closet that matches the description of Clair's. Pokemon Masters hinted at the two having some kind of relationship, but never said for sure the exact type. Tie those together with Karen using the same "Strong Pokemon. Weak Pokemon." line as the elder from the Dragon's Den and you have enough evidence to show where Karen comes from.
      Of course Clair isn't humble. That's a big part of the plot in her leg of the story in Gen 2. It's why she hasn't received the approval of the Elder.

    • @Meandmyshadowclones
      @Meandmyshadowclones 11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, when Red and Green released in Japan, players found a bunch of glitches and bugs that prompted GF to release a sort of "Definitive Edition" in Blue. When releasing the games in the West, they decided to keep the concept of having 2 versions like with Red and Green, but based the international release on Blue's improved build. Then, due to Blue being a hit in Japan despite people already having bought Red and Green, and the popularity of the anime and Pikachu as a character, they made Yellow, which became the third version for the West.

    I'd honestly wager that the Yeti is an early prototype of Jynx. Jynx is right next to Electabuzz and Magmar in the Pokedex, formed a sort of conceptual trio with them as vaguely humanoid Pokemon who (at the time) were standalone evolution-less representations of an element, and a single element each at that assuming the Yeti wouldn't have had a psychic secondary like Jynx wound up with.
    If so, it probably would have been better if they went with the Yeti design, since Jynx kind of got pushed into the soft retirement pit with Porygon and Kadabra for what people assumed of hers.

Especially in the anime, because they had all these trainer ranking things from the Pokemon league ( I guess? I don't remember much) and I guess it also explains why it had real food like chicken and stuff, back then it was part of the real world and they were gonna end it after johto anyway...
    And another amazing thing about the original Anime was that the filler episodes were more down to earth, even the actual plot épisodes, I felt it was something anyone could do if Pokemon were real , but now it's all very trivial and sometimes too over the top

    Two thoughts:
    1. At 5:05, I wonder if the unused text is for Strength; IIRC, the battle animation for Strength in gen 1 is a rock (or similar) being “thrown,” so “ground rose up somewhere” could be like “the rock/earth was thrown somewhere.”
    2. At 18:15, I wonder if this is an early sprite for Jynx. Jynx is in a similar Pokédex area as Electabuzz and Magmar, a yeti would likely be ice-type (as Jynx is), and, unfortunately, Jynx’s early design had the same blackface depiction as Buu does.

So what would happen is you would be at a river and it would cause a bridge to rise up. This seems like the simplest explanation, but that's just my interpretation. This may have been dropped from the game in the early stages when they came up with the surf hm.

    Ground rose up somewhere actually sounds more like a translation for when you’d use strength to drop a boulder in a hole. Someone probably fixed the transition and left the scraps in the code. I find that way more plausible then an unmade HM. That’s definitely text referring to a boulder or gateway opening and just wasn’t translated well. Rock climb was several games off and that doesn’t sound anything like what the text says. This was probably meant for when you moved the rock on the pressure plate.

    6:45 my money is on the third starter being Clafairy
    - it was a starter for Red in the manga
    - was almost picked as the franchise mascot and Ash Ketchum's first pokemon in the anime before Pikachu was chosen instead
    - there was once the idea to have a Pokemon Pink version release alongside Yellow with Clafairy as the starter
    - i believe it was also one of the producers/devs favourite pokemon (could be wrong)

    Another thing that can be expressed from Navel Island is that navels are something that’s related to oranges and in part even if they’re not the exact same islands, the Sevii Islands in the games are supposed to be similar to the Orange Islands

    Speaking of Kanto! The let’s go game have one of the most subtle but my most favorite hidden secrets!
    Let’s go wasn’t much for huge changes as other remakes- and one the things that stayed almost the same was the layout keeping the same locations the game has always had. But there is one thing that was added.
    In the mansions basement Is where the large test tube lies. It has been there in every game and stays the same but! In this game and this game only south of that room there is another. Instead of one large test tube there are 4 smaller ones located in the room. They are never acknowledged or mentioned it just there.
    But they still did add it and it most mean something! And to me at least it seems it might be in reference to a certain Mewtwo origin story. Think about it you never need a larger tube if what was inside never lived to outgrow it!

    Dude, the third Pokémon in Let's Go is Clefairy based on the fact that Pokemon Yellow was supposed to have two other games connected to it, being Pokémon Brown, which would have had Eevee as the starter like it was in Pokémon Let's Go and Pokémon Pink, which was supposed to have Clefairy as the Pokemon you get as all three Pokémon in these games were supposed to need a stone to evolve but was scrapped to put Yellow out because of the popularity of the anime. The Let's Go games aren't redos of Red Blue and Green, they are supposed to be the fulfillment of Yellow, Brown and Pink, though why we didn't get Pink still, remains a mystery.

    So Snorlax was based on a dude who just so happened to be called Kirby as a nickname (a dude who was born well before Kirby was established as an unrelated character?)
    So saying that Snorlax was even *indirectly* based on Kirby? That’s like…beyond a stretch, man. It’s just not a logical conclusion to make at all.

    Pocket Monsters the animation novelization, also mentions that Professor Oak has two brothers: One is the Mayor of Pallet Town, and the other is the Postmaster. After finding this out, this puzzled me because there was a pokemon episode (I think it was an episode in the Pokemon Chronicles show.) that a kid was visiting Professor Oak's lab was there to get his first starter pokemon and the kid is supposed to be the Mayor of Pallet Town' son which would mean this is Professor Oak's nephew but nothing in the episode suggest that.
    The novel was made around the time when pokemon anime started, so they probably didn't that pokemon would last this long. And why later anime episodes would contradict a number of things.
    One more thing, apparently, Ash's mom runs a restaurant in Pallet Town in this novelization.

    Pallet town is a fairly new built town and is called pallet town because it is colourful instead of being just 1 colour like the rest of the towns and cities
