Just want to say I love the work you guys do. Quickly becoming one of my favorite video game channels. You guys put in a lot of work and it shows. I appreciate it!
@@GamingOffTheGrid , you all can keep your carbonated horse piss, but as for the chocolate, I love the Ferrero Rocher. Also, as for how to pronounce those words, it is fuh-rer-o ro-shay. I saw you mention 6-Pack and I used to have a next door neighbor that had a kid that was around 9 or 10 and I was around 15 or so and we would totally play the 6-Pack back in the day at his house and he would sometimes visit me (because, once again, he was my next door neighbor) and he would play video games with me...it was awesome. Finally, have you two played Darius, Tetris, Pier Solar and the Great Architects, Xenocrisis, or Paprium yet for the Sega Genesis? Tetris and Darius are actually getting official physical releases for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive thanks to their appearances on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini and Pier Solar and the Great Architects, Xenocrisis, and Paprium are three really great homebrew games for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive that you might enjoy playing sometime. (Also, do not be dismayed at not having Pier Solar and the Great Architects, as it also has Sega Dreamcast, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii [I think], Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, Android, and iOS ports also available...oh, and Kemco has a ton of good Android JRPGs that literally no one talks about on Android and iOS as well, just saying.)
I know collectors often view sports games as garbage/filler... but on the Genesis they are iconic, IMO. While there are a ton of cheap sports games for the system, nothing beats EA’s NHL series. 95/96/97 are all under $10, sometimes even for CIB.
@Bill Cook, honestly, in the terms of football games, if we are talking about the NFL, nothing comes close to the greatness that is ESPN NFL 2K5 for the PS2 (though Madden 2004, 2005, and 06 are also good games, and ditto for NCAA Football 2004, 2005, 06, 08, 09, and 11). Anyone can talk about Tecmo Bowl all that they want, but ESPN NFL 2K5 always had support for itself since Day One and it did not rely upon fan based nostalgia, plus ESPN NFL 2K5 can do all of what Tecmo Bowl games did and better as well. Sure, some of the rules in the NFL have changed since those games, but, more often than not, ESPN NFL 2K5 is closer, not just with the rules, but also the AI, than any other NFL game, bar none. Now if we were going for crazy and zany old-school football hi-jinks, then the Fourth Generation of Video Games certainly did it better than any other generation for a lot of sports. Now as for the other games, for boxing, nothing comes close to the EA Fight Night series except maybe the Malibu Interactive Boxing series for the PC, SNES, and Sega Genesis (ABC's Wide World of Sports Boxing, Evander "Real Deal" Holyfield's Boxing, Greatest Heavyweights, Riddick Bowe Boxing, and Chavez, if you are wondering about the names of those games and their chronological order). Now as for college basketball, College Slam might be a generic NBA Jam, but it is still as fun as those games and no one talks about it, which is sad. However, on the PS2, an equally criminally overlooked, as well as criminally underrated, basketball game is College Hoops 2K8. Yes, it might not be as well known as the NBA Live or NBA 2K series (NBA 2K8 is also a good game), but it has a LOT more teams, as well as depth, that no one talks about on that game. Now as for baseball, although MLB The Show has been most impressive since around 2015, a lot of people overlook MVP Baseball for the PS2 and Xbox and, to be honest, it is a better baseball game than any 8-bit or 16-bit offering (though MLB Slugfest 2003 is also fun for the PS2 and Xbox). The 16-bit Madden games were nice, but everyone overlooks Mutant League Football. Mutant League Hockey also gets overlooked. I also wish that there was a Mutant League Baseball, a Mutant League Basketball, a Mutant League Soccer, a Mutant League Rugby, and a Mutant League Lacrosse, as those games would have been nice, plus there are not a lot of rugby and lacrosse games that are available and having those games might have started a bigger trend for them in the USA.
@@paxhumana2015 Yes, I and just about everyone else will agree that NFL 2K5 is the standard for video game football. It does so many things right that even after these sixteen years since, Electronic Arts hasn't come close for Madden football to what 2K has done. But, the discussion is about great Sega Genesis games, and Bill Cook pointed out that many people tend to overlook that the Genesis had great sports games, too, especially in the early years of the NHL series. The Sega Genesis also had RBI Baseball, Joe Montana Sports Talk, Madden and NBA Live games - all which were really fun. And, by the way, NFL 2K5 played better and looked better on Original Xbox compared to PS2 due to it having greater processing power, gpu, and RAM memory. Plus, as a bonus, the Xbox version of 2k5 utilized the feature of a custom soundtrack when you ripped songs from CD's onto the hard drive, which was really neat.

Muti-carts are pretty dang sweet. We have an NES and SNES on in the garage so we don't have to take the collection in and out. They work great. I wonder if there is an Aladdin hack out there that combines the games? If not there damn well should be :)
I love my genesis and collecting for the system. You can still find some deals more than Nintendo or even PlayStation. You should do best sports games for the Genesis which I think you can find a good amount for under ten dollars
I loved all the games that you mentioned, that I actually remember/knew about. I had never heard of Sub-Terrania! I hope you guys have continued success. It was a great console and I need to buy a gen 2 for my own collection.
Oh you guys must have tapped into my brain this week, I've *just* had a hankering for collecting some genesis games. Sold off about 6 of them 2 months ago ( a few common titles that didn't really need to stay in the collection so to speak) and want to rebuild a small library of titles worth holding onto. I have one title left, a CIB Xmen 2 Clone Wars, and my first game to track down is its predecessor X-men. Flawed game but holds tons of nostalgia as a title I played the shit out of it when it came out. And its title screen theme rocks to this day. You guys are doing well, always look forward to the stuff you put out.
Great episode. I already got most of these games. I also have a multicart. This is a great way to play the crazy expensive shoot em ups using the genesis arcade stick on the original hardware
Thanks man! We have a multicart on the way for the Genesis. We use one for the NES and SNES in my garage when we are playing casually. Definitely a great option. Cheers!
You can never fo wrong with the 6-Pak. The way you described the controls for Sub-Terrania, reminds me of Gravitar (1982), which is a frustratingly hard arcade game.
I remember buying a Sega Genesis early 92, my first new game was Lakers vs Celtics on sale at Kaybee Toy Store. Recommended Cheap sports games are Super Tecmo Bowl, RBI Baseball 94, Double Dribble, and any Nhl hockey games. I brought Superman developed by Sunsoft not to long ago for about 10 bucks, it's not bad. If you can get it cheap, Mercs is a top favorite, there are 2 different versions within the game. Great Video!
Really great video. There are so many awesome, obscure Genesis games. My 2 recommendations for cheap but really good would be Fatal Labyrinth and Kid Chameleon. Great video guys
6 pack was my first sega game back when I was a kid. It was my only game for a good 6 months; and I was not left wanting. Sub terrain was another one I got years later....man that was good fun.
Just goin through the vids, offerin support and stayin for the material that speaks to me. It most often does. I noticed the beer was a duplicate of another occasion. Just sayen, hope memory lane is sweet. Good hunting!
Totally love physical collecting...but this is one where I emulate....I have the entire library on a jump drive and I just don’t have the space...but the memories of playing altered beast and nhl 95 are some of my favorite gaming memories.
@Gaming off the grid I got two words for ya! Repro cases! I get mine from “Custom Game Cases and they use the original style Sega clamshell cases. Not the similar but larger repro cases commonly found. These are the exact same size and design. I have never problem buying loose Genesis games because of the availability of their cases and their repro artwork is pretty decent. I buy my games to play. CIB doesn’t matter to me.
@@GamingOffTheGrid You're welcome. www.customgamecases.com. I am not affiliated or anything. They just have solutions for gamers who want to keep their games protected and also be able to house them nicely on shelves or however one stores or displays their games. Keep up the good work and the excellent libation recommendations. Cheers.
You guys are great to watch despite not being an alcohol guy. I was late to the Genesis party as a Nintendo kid growing up but unfortunately my Sega stuff was all stolen while away at college 😖
Thanks a ton! The beer aspect isn't for everyone and that's totally cool. Sucks your shit got stollen. Hopefully you have been able to recapture some of it over the years. Genesis Mini is a good option if not. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I was a SNES kid, but I do have the Genesis-mini as well as Genesis collections on PS3 and Switch. So as much as I love Altered Beast and Sonic, it would have to be for a game I don't already own three times over. TMNT Hyperstone Heist would definitely do it.
Don't be hatin' on my boy Sonic. Thems fightin' words lol. Good list though! 6-Pak is an amazing value and one of the first games any Genesis collector should consider picking up to start a collection. Interestingly enough the most expensive individual game I own is my Genesis copy of TMNT The Hyperstone Heist (CIB). Love the Genesis, the console wars back then were the golden era of gaming in my book.
Poor Sonic. He gets dumped on around here lol. Dude Hyperstone Heist is high on our list of games we want to add to the collection very soon. Awesome game. And yes, the 16 bit console era/wars was an epic time indeed :). Cheers!
I love this channel and you both have a great personality and a heartwarming passion for video games. You’re criminally under subbed, but I’m sure it that will change soon. Keep em coming 👍
If I want the game I'm not too bothered about it being cib... I think they're a bit pricier over here in the UK... I'm happy to get any MD game for under £10...great stuff lads
The manual is a bonus for me, I hate buying Genesis games without the case (unless it's cardboard, I buy cart only and get plastic repro cases for those), if I get cheap loose carts that *should* have hard cases I buy or make reproduction cases. I love customgamecases.com, $4 blank cases, $5 with repro artwork. Unfortunately, I don't know about availability outside of the US. 😔 Either way, cheers mates! 🍻 *"SEGA!"*
@@ButtonBashers Which is why I just buy/make repro boxes, including a *hardshell* Sonic and Knuckles "modified" generic Genesis plastic case (a razor blade or X-acto knife to cut off two plastic tabs to fit that beast) and reprinted artwork. I don't care if it's authentic, just *hard plastic!* 🤣 (I'm a little "off" though)
@@GamingOffTheGrid I couldn't care less about an SNES box, unless you wanna throw it in free, I'll sell it/display it, and maybe get a hardshell repro for the game, or just keep it in an old NES plastic clamshell box or loose.
Solid list of games. Also if you like Columns be sure to pick up Columns 3 also. For some reason they skipped part 2. Another puzzle game I enjoy is called Klax. See if that is up your alley. As for the Mortal Kombats, I would argue they are all actually better on Snes with the exception of the first game which ran slow and censored the blood. For the definitive old school MK experience though I recommend Mortal Kombat Trilogy on either the original Playstation or Sega Saturn. There is an N64 version of that as well, but it is missing some characters and other features. Cheers fellas.
I've been practicing that for 26 years breh :)! I remember those commercials so well. Ahhh watching Monday Night Raw and getting SEGA commercials left and right. Where have those days gone my friend? Cheers!
Sweet! Sipping on Boulevard Brewing chocolate ale and can't wait to see what you guys picked to compare how much I bought em for years ago. Or, If I'm missing out on a game or two🤔.
Surprised these are so cheap. I won't be getting them, because I don't collect carts. But, as a huge Sega fan, it's cool to see other people enjoy the Genesis. It's actually neck and neck with the Dreamcast for me, and I only got a DC a couple years ago. For a beginner, get the mini. It's around $50 here. Tons of great games with a few head scratchers. And I never got the disdain for Altered Beast. Solid gameplay, good graphics, interesting concept/gimmick and great music. Plus the cover is awesome.
@@MP-vd1ck I fully realize that. A good storage option is old cassette boxes. It's cheap, doesn't take up a ton of space, and most Genesis games don't really require a manual.
Genesis is a great system. So many great titles, and really stands out visually and sound wise, I mean you know a Genesis game right away when you see or hear it.
Man I'm not 100% sure. I think they came from a PS1 loot box thing from Game Stop like 2-3 years ago. It looks like there is a similar set on Amazon for 12.99. A tad different than ours though as ours are all rubber. Thanks for watching man. I love my Genesis collection, but I gotta disagree on Mortal Kombat. The first game is definitely better on Genesis, but MK2 if far superior on the SNES.. Just my two cents.. Lol.
If you have the power base converter for the Genesis that allows you to play Master System games you can get for under $10 a loose cart of Aladdin for The Master System which is it's own different game. Genesis is great. It was MY first system. I had the NES but had to share it with my brother but the Genesis was MINE and will always love it. I wish I had the games I had back then. Sold them with my Genesis to get a PS1. I only have a handful of C.I.B. games after recollecting for it but they're all great (Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Streets of Rage 2, Shadowrun and Castlevania: Bloodlines to name a few). I picked them up right before the prices started going up which slowed down my collecting. Now I have to be a lot more selective and only get the games I really want and will just put a few bucks aside a week for a pricey one until I can afford it even if it means only getting 1 or 2 games a year tops.
We definitely need to get one of those converters. Damn man, your remaining collection is all killer no filler. Neither of us grew up with the console but it's great. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Honestly, with how much they tend to cost you can buy a Master System instead. However as a person who owns one it is really cool. It also works on a Retron 5 so you can play old school or in HD.
I have 0 nostalgia for the Genesis, but there are a handful of games that I'd love to collect on the system. Toejam and Earl comes to Mind. Obviously the sonic games. There are a few few sure.
@@GamingOffTheGrid The N64 is a small library and I'm already sick of this piece of shit lol. I left a decent comment on a previous video but it probably got flagged. I said something about stomping a mud hole in your.......but RUclips probably hated it

Man that's a tough one. All over the place is the best answer. Redbubble is an awesome site. Sony, and Sega's website have some cool stuff. A lot of years with a t-shirt addiction has let to what we have lol. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
The trick nowadays is finding the cheap gems that aren't available on one of the many compilations out there. Something like Altered Beast or Vectorman is cheap but also on basically every Genesis bundle. Also is it me, or is the Genesis now getting the level of pricing we saw with SNES in the mid 2010s?
GOTG for life if you have wrestlemania 17 on vhs you guys should watch it on a live stream maybe you can show some of the matches but i think austin vs bret hart is the best match so i think we should watch that match and thats the bottom line because action jaxon said so

I had a Sega pack on PC back in the day that had Vectorman 2. What they did with the lighting in that game is super impressive for sure!
I need to give it more time, but so far I still think I like the first one better
Totally love physical collecting...but this is one where I emulate....I have the entire library on a jump drive and I just don’t have the space...but the memories of playing altered beast and nhl 95 are some of my favorite gaming memories.
NHL 94 is the NHL game I go to from this era but I'm sure 95 is legit as well. Great stuff. Cheers!
love the passion & consistency of this channel! keep it up🔥
Thanks man! We put a lot of work into this project and love doing it. Glad you are enjoying the vids. Cheers!
Thanks a ton for the info man. We will check that out for sure. Cheers!
Cheers!
Alright, you've got to me. I'm gonna head to the game store to hunt these games down. Looks like a tasty beer too.🍻
Good look on the hunt! and yes! This was a very tasty beer!
I was a SNES kid, but I do have the Genesis-mini as well as Genesis collections on PS3 and Switch. So as much as I love Altered Beast and Sonic, it would have to be for a game I don't already own three times over. TMNT Hyperstone Heist would definitely do it.
Man we want to get Hyperstone Heist so damn bad. Hopefully we can snag a copy in 2021 :). Cheers!
Wow, thank you so much! We are just two dudes drinking beer and talking about video games! Cheers!
Good God, would love a complete videogame collection video from GOTG someday! Maybe for 10K subs 😉❤
Damn man, that would be a long video :). Maybe we go console by console each a different video. Thanks for the idea though. We'll take note. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Oh yes! A much better idea! A console per console basis. Would be great I reckon! And cheers, about to crack open a beer 🍺
Wait?! Whoa did you guys just completely skip over 7k subs?! Awesome! congrats brothers!
Dude this last 2 weeks has been f'n nuts. We can't even keep up. Not sure what happening but we'll take it :). Cheers!
Great video, I am playing Ex Mutants now! Never heard of it before.
Hell ya! Really fun game indeed. Cheers!
“Oh...I don’t want to go down that road.” Is exactly what I said a couple days before I bought my first SEGA Genesis 😂 no regerts.
LOL No Regerts!! Cheers to the Genesis!
Either way, cheers mates! 🍻 *"SEGA!"*
@@scramblesthedeathdealer its nice to have the box.... But some of the games boxed are expensive as hell!..and I'm a tighty pants
We don't go CIB typically for cartridge stuff but damn those Genesis boxes are so sweet :)! Cheers fellas!
Ya on Mk I was thinking of the first one lol. Whoops. Gonna have to snag Columns 3 for sure. Thanks for the recommendation. Cheers!
West your Sega impression is spot on!
Hell ya! Cheers to that :)
Damn! That was a good SEGA scream haha had to watch it again to make sure it wasn't dubbed in
LOL! No dubs here man. Been practicing that since I was 8 :). Cheers!
These are loose copies
Not complete in box with manuals
@@MP-vd1ck I fully realize that. A good storage option is old cassette boxes. It's cheap, doesn't take up a ton of space, and most Genesis games don't really require a manual.
We love Altered Beast but I can see why some people crap on it. It just makes me laugh every time I play it
Nice! I just fixed my Model 2 and got an RGB cable in for it! Time to buy some games! :)
Heck yes man!
Awesome selection guys!
Thanks man! Been having a good time collecting for the Genesis lately. Cheers!
Great selection. I would add X-men. Thanks for getting more people into the Genesis.
Good pull on X-men! Right under that $10 mark! We just don't have much experience with it so we didn't talk about it
@@GamingOffTheGrid just look at it as an opportunity to look into a new game.
Great stuff man. Genesis still has some cheap great games. I noticed a lot of retro games are starting to dip in price.
For sure. A lot of the disc based stuff is starting to rise so hopefully the backside of that continues to mellow out. Cheers!
Just been playing my hacked mini with lad today lol he loves beavis and buthead lol
LOL that is a pretty fun game!
How much did you pay for yours?? I want one.
@@RetroGamingReplay my mini was 50 I think if remember correctly..
Genesis is a great system. So many great titles, and really stands out visually and sound wise, I mean you know a Genesis game right away when you see or hear it.
Totally agree dude! It's that Blast Processing!
Actually love you guys vids so much good content... not seen one video not liked yet lol
Thank you so much for the kind words dude! we really appreciate it!
Solid video! Where did yall get the playstation button coasters from?
Man I'm not 100% sure. I think they came from a PS1 loot box thing from Game Stop like 2-3 years ago. It looks like there is a similar set on Amazon for 12.99. A tad different than ours though as ours are all rubber. Thanks for watching man. Cheers!

I love my Genesis collection, but I gotta disagree on Mortal Kombat. The first game is definitely better on Genesis, but MK2 if far superior on the SNES.. Just my two cents.. Lol.
Ya we messed that one up. I was thinking MK1 and talking about MK2 lol. Whoops
Still, 8 bucks for the Genesis version is well worth it..
Sega does what Nintendon't! 😎😉
Now now let's not get that ol' debate going lol! What a fun era that was man. Good times! Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid The great Debate of our age 😂😎

I knew as soon as we mentioned MK you would be happy LOL
Great video guys
Thanks a ton man! Much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed. Cheers!
I have 0 nostalgia for the Genesis, but there are a handful of games that I'd love to collect on the system. Toejam and Earl comes to Mind. Obviously the sonic games. There are a few few sure.
I think your next goal should be a complete genesis collection! I'd LOVE to see all the bum deals you get ;)
Hope your doing good man!
@@GamingOffTheGrid The N64 is a small library and I'm already sick of this piece of shit lol. I left a decent comment on a previous video but it probably got flagged. I said something about stomping a mud hole in your.......but RUclips probably hated it
I don't really like Sega as a console, but I liked this video! loved*
Glad you enjoyed. We aren't huge Genesis fans by any means. We both grew up Nintendo kids. But lately we've been on a Genesis kick :). Cheers!
Sega rules! I have to pick up Ex mutants for sure. Thanks guys!
Looking at Sub Terrania in this video, I was reminded a lot of Pixel Junk Shooter 1 and 2. Have you played those on the PS4 or Vita? They're awesome!
Negative. But always looking for odd games on our Vita. Gonna have to check that out :). Thanks for the recommendation. Cheers!
Also worth checking out is Solar Jetman for the NES!
Ive been collecting for the genesis for 2 weeks now and already have 20 games i havent gone over the $20 range other than Hyperstone Heist and Castlevania Bloodlines I want to get the cheap games I think would be fun and work my way up
Nice man! Good luck on your Genesis collecting! We are collecting it hard also! 🍻
Are you all in OR/WA with all that good Beer? Great vidga and great games!!!
Actually in Iowa man. We have a lot of good friends in the Washington and Oregon area though :)
@@GamingOffTheGrid I'm originally from Oregon (Served in the military and all over the World, retired now in Florida). Just seeing all those amazing beers had me wondering! I guess if I ever make it back up to Wrigley Field, I may have to pit stop one state over for all that glouriousness!
ex-mutants was a malibu comic, so it was a legit comic book
Some other games on Sega Genesis games are .
1. Samurai showdown $12
2. Eternal champions $6.99
3. Sonic the hedgehog 2 $9.99
4. Sonic the hedgehog $ 9.99
5. Star control $8.99
6. Super battleship $8.00
7. Tom and Jerry : frantic antics $5.99

Great to see you Boys getting into the Sega Mega Drive sorry Genesis to you guys, some absolutely amazing games on the system and you have picked some great cheap games Aladdin hands down is better on the MD Wes lol
Great video as always, I’m so close now to a complete MD set I need 17 more and I’m also trying to grab the Genesis exclusives too guys get me a CIB Gargoyles please 🤣🤣🤣

Now all the just price went up !
Hahaha!! It's all these DAMN RUclipsrs raising the prices!!
i play most these games on pico drive ps2 still tbf lol way playing the sonic pinball the other day aswell so addictive aha
x mutants is deffo a re skin of castlevania can tell buy the axe and animation was playing sotn on my ps3 today
It has a slight Castlevania feel to it but it still has it's own charm and is rally fun to play!
Random question but where do you get your retro gaming tees?
Man that's a tough one. All over the place is the best answer. Redbubble is an awesome site. Sony, and Sega's website have some cool stuff. A lot of years with a t-shirt addiction has let to what we have lol. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
The trick nowadays is finding the cheap gems that aren't available on one of the many compilations out there. Something like Altered Beast or Vectorman is cheap but also on basically every Genesis bundle.
Also is it me, or is the Genesis now getting the level of pricing we saw with SNES in the mid 2010s?
Great games for under $10. NHL 94 another great game. I think it's under 10 bucks as well
We covered that game in our SNES version of this episode. We tried not to double up on games but we are huge fans of NHL '94 for sure. Epic. Cheers!
Oh yeah that's right my bad lol
What’s up fellas.. cheers
Sub-Terraria is an awesome game. I picked it up with a Genesis lot I bought, and I play it all the time.
Very unique game and the controls are tough. Lots of fun though. Cheers!
Solar Jetman for NES is similar to Sub Terrania and came out before it. Check it out guys
We'll give it a look for sure. Always lookin for good NES games that we've missed. Thanks for the recommendation. Cheers!
GOTG for life if you have wrestlemania 17 on vhs you guys should watch it on a live stream maybe you can show some of the matches but i think austin vs bret hart is the best match so i think we should watch that match and thats the bottom line because action jaxon said so
That would be sweet man but we'd get a copywrite notice immediately lol. Not gonna be able to pull that off.
You said Sonic, but Sonic 2 is notably better and still only about $5 and easy to find
Sonic 2 is better for sure. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
If you like sub terrania on genesis try solar jetman on nes. Same concept. Fun game.
That sounds sweet! We will have to check it out! Thank you!
My lad loves n64 but I won't let him play my games they all complete and minty lol I know I'm stingy lol but bought him multi cart he got around 200 ish on it
Nothing wrong with a good ol multicart! We have a few in the garage and we play them a lot!

Sega MK2 sucked compared to Snes. It was missing so many colors and frames of Animation compared to a Nintendo version. I have both.
Shoot. Might have been the first one I was thinking of lol.
@@GamingOffTheGrid yeah mortal kombat 1 is better on genesis but two is better on snes
