Great video Thank you so much I need to replace the leaf springs on my older 27' camper as well, big project and this really helps I'm going to give that business a call can't bring the camper to them safely but could possibly order the springs and parts from them I'm in Quartzite Az now but Thank you again 👏😎😊
I’ve been looking at my springs. Also for a video that would share how to look at them to see how bad they might be. I’m going to take my Grand Design 385GK in and get it inspected. Thanks for sharing your lesson. 😊
We did something similar back in 2020 when our factory springs and axles packed it in. We have a new 6-pack spring set but, lo and behold, we need to replace them again after 25000 miles. That said, we live in the Yukon, next to Alaska, and almost all of those miles are on challenging roads. We have just competed a west to east trip across Canada, including 2500 miles in rural Newfoundland, home of the potholes. Fortunately we are in the main city here and can have a full replacement for $850 custom made within 3 days. Take-away: Rough roads eat trailer suspension for breakfast, lunch and dinner…no matter how hard you try.
Thanks Randall. This is really good to know. We also travel to mostly rough destinations. I will start planning for that possible failure. Safe travels. Thanks for watching.
Years ago, we were in a caravan with our group, several travel trailers, some pop up camper trailers, etc. We pulled into campground and learned one of the group had a broken shackle. We called a remote welder who came to us. He welded the repair. We had him look at all the shackles on our trailers, and he reinforced several of them. Just not good enough from the factory. Have you considered an upgrade to your center equalizer, along the lines of CRE3000 or RoadArmor or Equa-Flex? Too bad you have to replace your Morryde steps. Hope you find a better solution. 😎
John, that is a good story. It is lucky that you even found someone to weld for you at camp. Now that I have discovered our suspension issues, i may need to upgrade to the CRE3000. The step is/was great, just need the larger one. I will find someone who will wants a nice step at a discount and get that problem resolved. Thanks for the great idea !
Loved this video. We have the same issue with our tires hitting the floor on bumps. Lately I’ve seen people with similar rigs to ours on FB pages changing their springs which brings up a question for me on your new springs. Since you went from 4 leaf to 6 leaf instead of 5 leaf, do you know the weight rating on the new springs and the max weight of your trailer? Thanks.
With those new springs, it did not change the overall capacity for the trailer. It did increase the height, so we had to upgrade the folding step, and the ride was a bit stiffer. I was glad we did the repair.
Because of a similar problem, I went from four leaves to five and now six. It is very stiff and almost two inches taller. On a rough road, it really tosses the rear end in the rear. Lighten your load and slow down.
Seb, I agree with you on the money well spent. Yes we did have to adjust the Equalizer hitch, i did not record that portion. Had to flip the shank head 180 degrees. readjusting was not hard and the instructions on the product website were very clear and easy to follow for us. Everything is level and re are ready to roll
Is your RV a low rider ?
When was the last time you inspected your Leaf Springs ?

To delay replacing the solid steps, just take a bunch of Lynx blocks, 2 stacked under each leg should do it (for now).
That is a really great solution Phil, the fix should allow the step to be accessible to the short inhabitants we have wishing to enter 🤩

hahahaha love that video of "not" hauling ass down the washboard road
🙂 thanks
Well spent $650! Wondering if you had to adjust the hitch setup to match the new clearance/height?
Sorry, never mind You have addressed it :). Serves me right, I should wait till the end :)

Seb, I need to work better at presenting the details better, i sure appreciate you supporting the Channel and watching :)
Oh boy 2 years old, ify you can get longer legs for your steercase.
Did you readjust your hitch too.
You bet , hitch was way off until I fixed the adjustment
Mr. Kage 🥰
Yep best boy ever, he loved Camping so his memory will live on for us. He will be missed
Dont replace your RV steps. Just put a few of those yellow leveling blocks under each leg to provide support.
