People also don't realize that there is now an over supply of items on the resale market. Fashionfile is giving lower quotes than they used to because the bags are just not moving like they used to. People need to deal with reality and I think part of that "reality" is realizing that bags were never an "investment". There luxury bag market went through a craze and there was a bubble, it seems like that bubble has now burst.
Yup!!! I agree. That’s why I NEVER buy a bag that I don’t LOVE. Because that “investment” theory can and sometimes comes back to bite you in the booty

Yes! Finally someone says it! Let's be real.. do I hate paying a percentage to these places? Yes. Do I moan about it every time? Yes. Do I feel I'm being ripped off by these sites and/or consignment shops? Girl, heck yes!! But I've got better things to do than try and post pictures, measure the darn things, and be around ready to jump if someone asks a question. But, I usually try and take the offer anyway because I don't want the hassle.
Right!!! Exactly! We all get irritated and hate paying the percentage. It’s annoying to pay a company a fee, but most of us logically folks know in the back of minds that 1. WE don’t want to be bothered and 2. It’s a business that has to charge a service fee to remain in business
Exactly! If you want more money, then sell yourself or consign. I’ve sold to Fashionphile because I didn’t want the hassle of responding to messages and dealing with scammers or headaches of selling on my own. Peace of mind is worth something

I completely agree! I had a Christian Louboutin tote I used maybe for a month or two and it just wasn’t for me. I didn’t like it. I sold to Fashionphile and I knew I wasn’t going to get a lot for it and could’ve sold it myself for more. I didn’t want that hassle. So I took that offer and now I have a little more in the bank to use for something I know I want. That’s that. So thank you Fashionphile! 🤷🏻♂️🤣

I’ve been trying to say this for YEARS and nobody wants to hear it. The reseller is doing ALL OF THE WORK, that’s why they get the % that charge
I worked in resale for 10 years and sellers have come to expect us to basically work for free.
That is so crazy to me. I’ve been seeing this “low ball offer” arguments for YEARS 😩 and it’s so annoying. I've sold a few bags to Fashionphile and did they low ball me, yes they did but I didn't mind because I value the peace of mind. The preloved market has definitely changed and it's a buyer's market. Kicking myself should've waited a year or two instead of buying in 2021 - 2023. So many luxury items with great prices nowadays.

Yes ma’am…….Periodt….When you request a buyout you receive a lesser offer than a consignment offer (which is once the item sells the reseller pays out ). The reseller offers you a little more. But you will never get what you paid for it unless you sell it yourself…and just sometimes “ain’t no body got time for all that drama!”

Great video!!!! Love the truck chats. I saw this exact post in the Facebook group as well, and I thought $4800 was a great deal for a seasonal flap bag. People have been told so many times that bags are supposed to hold value. So when it’s time to sell, it’s perceived that you should get top dollar, and unfortunately that’s not true. If the bag is not a limited addition or in crazy demand, you will lose some coins.

That's why I don't buy retail anymore and definitely not Chanel at retail....so if I'm bored I'll sell and almost get what I paid. In my experience Fashionphile gives higher quotes than Yoogis closet and.....the Real Real is a no go for me seen too many horrible stories about getting fakes from them ...Ive been selling on ebay for years..I love it . questions come with the territory 😂😂

I think it was a lowball. Also that bag is a highly sought after seasonal bag. If they can sell it for 10k then I’m expecting about 70% of that considering selling costs would take approx 30% which is already a lot. I think that’s fair, no? lol

Fashionphile quoted me 4k the first time. I was hesitant on selling bc I wasn’t sure I wanted to let it go. I never followed through with the offer. Submitted again for the next year and they offered me 3K. Um no maam. Go play with someone else. It’ll sit and wait.

Drives me crazy too! It is a business, not a charity. They have to pay a lot of expenses and take all the risk. Sure, a private sale would net you more, but time is money, plus not having to worry about scammers is a huge plus. It is quick and easy, but quick and easy comes at a price.

I loved this video 😂 Soooooo true! Fashionphile buys it from you, it’s not consignment and yes they are a business and need to make a profit. Depending on what the item is, yes it’s seems like a low offer and you can do better selling it yourself, but most of the time truthfully they are ok with their offers. Another nice thing about Fashionphile is if you buy from them and 6 mo down the road you don’t want it anymore, they will buy it back and you are only out a tiny bit, their buy back is actually a good thing. I’ve purchased, sold and had them buy back from me, I love this company! As you know I collect Y2K stuff so yeah I’m pretty much stuck looking for preloved.🥰

Guurrrl! Can not agree with you more. Fashionphile pays you up front and there is no guarantee any bag they buy from us is going to sell for their estimate. I basically go to them knowing they will sell the item for double what ever their offer is. They are running a business and have all the risk and expense of trying to sell your bag. You can always sell the bag yourself on EBay and forgo any commission. People please wake up…..handbags are NOT an investment period. Only buy bags you plan on keeping…if you are playing the bag flip game…wearing a bag for a few months or a year then selling it you will loose $$. A few exceptions..certain Hermes bags…and an occasional hyped bag…but please know these are not investments. If you want to invest put your money in the stock market. Those are my two cents.

Honestly I have never seen my bags as an investment. I buy because I love them because I know at any moment their value can plummet!! When I sell something I actually get sad because I didn’t love it as much as I’d thought! 😂
Same. I have to love the bag to buy it. I don’t see my bags as investments. I know they possibly could be, but that will NEVER be a reason to buy one. Investment bags will never be a guarantee.
Everything is a market. It is a low ball offer compared to their competitors, but you have the option to sell to their competitors or sell it yourself like you said. Handbags are assets not investments

Preach, Rakeedah! In life when you buy something from a retailer you have a window of time to return it to the store. Once you buy something that money is gone. If you can resell it, that's just a bonus. If the quote is unsatisfactory, keep your bag.

I've submitted the same bag to fashionphile 3 times over the last year and a half. First they offered 1400, didn't take it bc I felt it was too low. Months later, they offered 1200. Didn't' take it bc it was too low, and lower than the first one. Just now I submitted this bag and they quoted me $700. What a joke! I get that we all have rent to pay but that made me want to not even buy from Fashionphile in the future. I wish I could go back and take the 1400 before the resale market crashed. That was more than half of what I paid for it and now I'll have to sell on ebay to ever see that again
The market is bottoming out, they aren’t getting what they used to and are now not offering as much, and they are flooded with inventory. I had the same thing happen to me. I should have taken the first offer, but….. I couldn’t decide if I really wanted to sell. In the end, I am so happy I didn’t sell, so it worked out for me. Hopefully you will fall in love with your item again too 😊

I get your frustration. A think their quotes are weighted by a couple different factors, the demand for that item, how many they already have, and the spending market.
Luxury retail and spending period have slowed down significantly due to the economy. So they have slowed down on buying new inventory and they are not as confident that they will sell it as fast or not at all. Those factors dictate the quotes.

Same. My first quote was $1500, then $1400… i just kept it. But I’m curious what it will be if I resubmit 🤔 that was a few years ago, maybe I’ll get a new quote but I bet it will be WAY lower. Their “buy back” offers are becoming comically low.

I love this video. I have always argued that if I can get 50-75% of the price paid then you are doing great. Even if the bag has been sitting in a dust bag and is in new condition it’s still a used bag. And, you take a hit by using a platform like Fashionphile. If I sell something myself on a Facebook group I am thrilled if I get 80% of my money back. And, I have to pray I don’t get a return, someone doesn’t do a charge back, send back a fake, etc. Fashionphile is convenient so if I get a quote for 60% of retail then it’s an automatic accept. And if I don’t like the quote i can and have sold things myself. It’s all about, as you pointed out, is what risk I want to take. Fashionphile is easy and convenient and there is a cost that comes with that.
Most people over estimate what their stuff is worth anyway. Fashionphile rarely sells items for what they originally list the item as anyway. Often they discount it multiple times to shift it.
