Hello Alan! I just discovered your great "Alan Rosenberg Show" channel this afternoon! I actually started, at first with your episode of your13 favorite albums of all time, but thought that I would drop a comment here, on your most recent presentation! I really appreciate what you're doing and I really enjoy your channel! When I have the time, I will review ALL of your video posts, so far! I read one of your reply comments below that you debated doing this video.
    This was a great video.
I remember seeing all those magazines on the stand at 7-11 when I was a kid in the 70s. I was more into comic books at that point though.
I had most of those loss leaders when I put together a garage sale vinyl collection through the years.
I would see Schlagers and Big Ball and a couple others very frequently at garage sales.
Rock and Roll Alan Rosenberg Show!!

A fantastic and eclectic look at a comprehensive collection of debut albums. I had to watch this twice to take it all in. I've had and still do have many of these recordings in various formats. A vast majority I obtained in High school for home and car stereo. Bad Co. CTA, CSN, Graham Nash, The Doors, Elvis Costello were in heavy rotation. I've seen Marshall Crenshaw in a Bar and met him after the show. Great guy. The Smithereens is a band I absolutely loved after that first record. I've seen them many times and met the band as well. I actually had a great relationship with Pat Dinizio and he even invited me and my wife to a party at his house in Scotch Plains, NJ that we attended. Sadly he passed away. I'm surprised that they never made it big. Finally the hidden gem for me is Christie-Yellow River. That song was big in our house and when your the youngest of four, you hear everything. I completely forgot about that one. Thanks again for your presentation and knowledge of these great musical genre's.

First thanks so much for your amazing comments. Wow the Pat DiNizio story is amazing. I thought the were gonna be a really big band. Their first two albums especially are excellent.
“Stood just like Bill Wyman “. What a great line. And Blood and Roses is killer too. Yellow river is a great old album too. Still listen to it on occasion. Car stereo days. I had an 8 track in my car. Thought was the greatest thing ever. Thanks so much again

"Behind The Wall Of Sleep" is one of the best songs ever. Pat D told me the song is about a female bass player he fell in love with who was playing bass in a power pop lounge band in Boston. He went to see her a few times but it wasn't happening. He said he wrote the song on a napkin in 20 minutes on a flight from BOS to LGA. Had a ton of 8-Tracks in the 70s for the car but switched to cassettes in the 80's when they fazed out the 8-Track.

Wow I just saw this comment now. This is awesome as always. So great to see so many of my favorites, and deep favorites. But also so many I don't know of at all. Including your #1 and your #2 (well I at least have heard of City Boy). Robbie Robertson is one of my all time favorite albums ever, but I don't think I included it in debut albums (because of The Band etc....probably should have as it's an original work etc and he has a full discography of solo albums now). Teaser, Be Bop Deluxe, Nils Lofgren - so much great stuff for sure.

Great vid, lots of excellent albums here! You may be aware of this, but the debut album from the Allman's on Beginnings is a remix. The single CD has the original (and better IMO) mix. I don't recall all of the differences off the top of my head but if you haven't heard it in awhile, check it out. EDIT: I love the debut from The Knack, a perfect album. Also, funny to see Carla Olson here as I just listened to two of her records yesterday for the first time - the live record she did with Mick Taylor (Too Hot for Snakes) and the beautiful So Rebellious a Lover with Gene Clark. I'd like to dig deeper.

Actually those two you just listened to are my favorites. Too Hot For Snakes was my entry point for her and then So Rebellous A Lover - which there are different versions. There's a later version with the song "Jokers Are Wild". Jokers Are Wild, is one of my favorite songs by anyone of all time.
