Hello professor i would like to thank you for teaching the way you do and uploading content for free! You are amazing i wish i had you as a teacher back in the day in dental school!
Thank you so much for the great lecture, I was just wondering how can a peptide hormone be water soluble 12:18? Thanks again for all your effort, you're the best!
So the overall effect of the GH on liver, general body cell and tissues and adipocytes can be summarized thus In the liver it would stimulates release of insulin like growth factors which would bring about growth in bones, increase in cell metabolism. And did you say metabolism would lead to amino acid uptake? Breakdown of lipid? And spike in blood sugar level? The latter confuses me. How is metabolism happening without energy? And what is the source of energy other than glucose? And how is the igf 1 supposed to be insulin like if it is not increasing glucose uptake?
Hello Marie Marie. As I am a scientist and not a physician. I cannot answer that for you. I can point you to the most recent guidelines from the Endocrine Society: www.endocrine.org/clinical-practice-guidelines/diabetes-in-older-adults

I am studying since last semester for my physiology exam and your lectures are a great way of revision. Your way of explaining ist just amazing. Thank you very much , you are really talented at teaching. With kind regards from Germany :)
When you talk about inhibiting and stimulating would that be the same as permissiveness, synergism, and antagonism? My professor wants us to know those three terms and what hormones do which ones. Thank you

Hi Laxmi, this set of lectures was for an undergraduate physiology class. I also have a site for my Anatomy students "Anatomy & Physiology Pro" that has lectures (mostly live recordings of in-class lectures) and anatomy tutorials. Good luck! ruclips.net/channel/UCJFfHao9_eFxw5ij0tkQ_Vw
