wow a truly unique product.
I get why posters here are saying this kit is gimmicky, but as long as the application of these lenses makes sense to the consumer, I'm not sure these are that gimmcky. I think for mirrorless street photography, these are pretty neat. I agree that the 3 focal lengths are really close. I, too, love love 24-28mm
Thanks. Exactly, if this appeals to you and makes sense, it's not gimmicky.
You can like gimmics but liking a gimmick does not make it less of a gimmick. These are gimmick toy lenses, nothing is going to change that.
Pretty clever idea and design. Unfortunately most modular things have not been very popular. I could see using this set for street photography if it also had a set for Fuji X-mount.
Thanks, Peter. For some reason modular designs usually don't gain much traction.
I didn’t even know those existed! Would be so difficult to change with gloves. Also, where do you keep them when not in use (to avoid scratching)? Great shots, Matti!
Thanks. In the video you can see the case and the little containers.
Hi Matti, it looks like a little Pancake lens, I'm saying that in a nice way. A different photo experience but it was a good Walkabout you had. I enjoyed looking at something new. Thanks Matti. 😊
Thanks! Something different for sure😀
@mattisulanto Your welcome Matti 😊
I can see the attraction for travel photography - especially with a smaller sensor.
It does remind me of the LensBaby Composer Pro series. The lens is inserted into the lens body in a similar way. Although the lens inserts are set up for various effects of blurring.
Thanks. True, this is similar to the LensBaby which I have almost forgotten😀
Very interesting indeed, yet I agree that 28 and 32 is too close. But having this as 21 and 32 in a small jacket pocket... not bad. I would even try it on my small 5100. But 400 Euro around is quite steep
Thanks. On APS-C you'd get roughly 32mm, 42mm and 48mm which sounds quite nice too.
I'm thinking it's an other point of entry for dust, and what does it do that a short zoom doesn't? On the other hand, can't deny the portability, and props to Samyang for trying something different. I wonder if this has any kind of manufacturing advantage or cost-saving, especially if they don't have to make an entire lens for different mounts?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Looks like Pentax 110 lenses!
They are selling for around $400US - mid-November 2024.
I would worry if the lens is not water resistant….
Yep, there is some resemblance to the Pentax 110 lenses.
Interesting, but I think I will stick with my Samyang 35mm F2.8 prime that cost only slightly more than half of this kit.
That would be my choice too😀
In the UK they are £336 including 20% VAT. I think that's expensive for something that I personally can't think of as more than a gimmick.
Are there any glass elements in the main part or is it just an empty tube?
Looks like the UK price is about the same as our Euro price. The main body has no lens elements but it's a bit more than just "an empty tube"😀
I think it's more useful if the focal length was 28, 35, 50, perfect range for street photography, its ok when it's come with more slow aperture lens, f4 or f5.6
Thanks. That would be the perfect street setup and who knows, maybe Samyang makes another version one day😀
It looks like a modular version of the Canon EF/EF-S 40mm/24mm f/2.8 lens surprisingly but with not that many focal length made for what is essentially a new mount system. The molecularity concept is kinda moot point but I'll give it credit for trying something different.
Thanks for sharing your insights.
I was looking forward to try this lens but I changed my mind when I saw the price tag. 399€ sounds too much for me.
Thanks. The price seems high for many.
That's pretty cool! But I agree, 32mm is questionable, 38-50mm would've been a better addition to those 2.
Thanks. Exactly, but maybe it was not easily possible.
The concept is very cool but I think is easier to change the whole lens in practice 😂
Thanks. The concept is cool indeed😀
When I saw this Lens system announced, I thought it looked good, but now when reading and watching several reviews, I do not think it is something that I want, as you say too fiddly, if it had been a bit larger and better built, so it was much easier to shift the Lenses, then it could be a nice thing to have in a pocket, maybe we will see a system like the old Tamron Adaptall-2 in a new digital version in the future, now we can see that is possible, it will be vert nice for those that have different Camera brands !
Thanks. Yeah, right now it's a bit too consumer grade but it could be really nice if it was better built.
@@mattisulanto I waited for you in the video to try and change Lenses with your gloves 😁
@@cameraprepper7938 That would have been a long video😅
Do we really need this product?
You could ask that same question many times each day when you see something new😀
Thanks!
Thank you!
Overpriced gimmick
