Hi Raymond, I appreciate this video because it is what i lived in my wet/dry center. I started bowling at age 40 and head first in buying for thousands worth of bowling balls over a 10 year period of bowling (36 balls).Only to find out that i had many balls drilled the same or had the same look on the lanes but from different companies. Then was over 16 years without bowling because of a personal medical condition ( sick). I restarded bowling 3 years ago now and it took me that time to build up a 10 ball arsenal that covers all conditions and especially understand them. I chose Hammer balls from Brunswick and i am proud and happy to share them with you and your viewers. My Spare ball is a White Dot Polyester Label drilling and a Stable finish. My 1st ball out of the bag is a Black Pearl U 78 D Urethane drilled 45×4×35 finished 500 SIAAIR Strong/ Smooth. If not enough on a Sport or Heavy oil cond. I take out the Extreme Envy 45×4×35 1,000 SIAAIR finish Strong/Smooth. If i keep the Black Pearl and the first game goes fine then i take out the Black Widow 3.0 65×4.5×50 1,500 SIAAIR for the 2nd game which is also Strong/Smooth but can play further inside. On the 3rd game i go "ball up"with the Effect 70×4.5×20 2,000 SIAAIR Stong/Sharp reaction(flip). On house Medium conditions i start with a Hazmat Hybrid 65×4.5×25 2,000 SIAAIR Medium/Smooth then switch to Scorpion Strike on transition 4" Pin also 2,000 SIAAIR Medium/Sharp. For late read i use the Artic Vibe 65×4.5×30 3,000 SIAAIR Weak/Smooth then switch to the Anger 4inch Pin Weak/Sharp. Went i encounter Scorched lanes i use the Black Raw 3 3/8 leverage drilling Stable finish. Happy Thanksgiving!
This really true for me about a THS….since i keep track of my games and what balls i use…looking back over the last 5 years….the 5 balls i have thrown the most games with all land average wise within 8 pins of each other…i can take any ball i have to the lanes and hit the pocket area with it on a house shot…it takes some challenge/sport shot tournaments that i’ll do a few of during the summer to see what a ball can or can’t do…(my biggest issue being 61 is just now my speed and rev rate have dropped enough to make carry problematic at times).
I have the pleasure of bowling with some guys that start whining about "dry" lanes by the second frame of game two. hahah. They start swapping out balls, they start kicking the ball return, throwing their hat or towels on the benches. "This effing house never oils the same".. meanwhile, I rattle off another 245 game. Why? Because I am willing to move, or adjust my hand, or my speed. You know, those little things that bowling practice on dry lanes teaches you. In fact, last Jan.2023 after 30 years away from the game,(I'm 66 now) I watched every coaching vid you had, and retaught myself how to bowl. I went from 120s in Jan, to Oct when I joined my first league to 178 avg. But what changed my game was learning to "hook" the ball by using dry lanes. Just being able to see my ball curve the way I wanted it to on fresh oil, taught me how to adjust myself and my targeting to get into the "dry". If not for dry lanes who knows how long it would have taken me. Now in Nov just under two years later, I'm a 220+ avg bowler.(I practiced nothing but ten pins for a month straight) I can play all over the lane now. And I owe it "first" to you, and second all those hours and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of games on dry lanes. Learning to move my self, and my ball. I now roll in a sport shot league where I maintain a 210ish avg. We lay out as many PBA shots as possible. A group of us, toss the owner some extra cash to pay for the oil, so he is happy to put out whatever shot we want. Just last week I won my first solo tourney. I've finished second or third in it half a dozen times each. But when the lane broke down, I was so comfortable moving 15 boards left from where I started, it was the difference maker. Dry lanes can be your friend. I tell all my "buddies who suck at hooking the ball" ..lol.. to keep practicing on dry lanes to learn to curve the ball. As for my teammates who whine about transition.. I just take the "pot" money each game, and root them on.. lol.
I bowl in a center where the carry can be a bit tough. So regardless of our league pattern making it generally easy to hit the pocket, you don’t string strikes unless you make decent shots. Still, I agree w you, so it would be kind of cool if they mixed up our house shot w less and more oil or length. Like keep the house shot but change it a little so at the least we can use different equipment, speeds, angle.
Bowling late at night after league is a good option. But, if I come out after a full day of open play, the back ends will have a ton of carry down. I doubt I would ever see a pattern with that look. Especially, with the heads having zero oil left on them. There may be a very narrow, but weird, line I could practice on.🤔
I wish I had a house shot that was consistent every week. My house puts out challenge patterns for the good leagues and either forgets to change it back or doesn't strip the lanes properly for the handicap "fun" leagues and senior leagues.
Since last month i've always bowled on patterns with 10+ ratio, then i tried something more challenging (3 ratio) and i loved it... i do not like house shots, there's just not enough oil for me
The good bowlers in my league would quit if they had to bowl on sports pattern. They would be on suicide watch if they had to bowl on a different sports pattern every week. 😂😂😂😂
The shot in our league is terrible. They oil the day earlier and then 2 leagues bowl on them and I know for sure in one of the leagues almost everyone in the league throws plastic. The show we get is burned up outside of 12 or so tons of carry down and if you try to throw inside around 4th arrow the ball goes straight or on the nose and if you do hit the pocket it’s 10 pin or 4 pin.
Ur bowling alley is Garbage if they don't offer 10$ to run a pair of lanes, it costs less than 2.00 to run a pair. out of touch owners and lazy mechanics

Good info for all us 'regular league' type of bowlers. I like the idea of testing ball on balls not-fresh lanes. Good job!
Great information here. Really accurate, and essential in order to understanding your arsenal.

Where i practice at never oils. So bowling on dirt does help. It's helped me realize a lot of things
you have a wonderful Thanksgiving
Cool video talk tech bowling Jr Raymond

My league always has a different sport pattern each week.
The league I bowl in here in Corpus Christi Texas , use a different pattern every week
The good bowlers in my league would quit if they had to bowl on sports pattern. They would be on suicide watch if they had to bowl on a different sports pattern every week. 😂😂😂😂
@ that’s how you get better tho but I understand
When are you going to restock the pro sect
My house oils but the machine seems to never really strip the back ends properly and ball reaction is un predictable
That new blue Theorem is actually a pearl, not a hybrid. The red one is the hybrid. Also it’s asymmetrical not symmetrical.
I bowl on a Monday 1 pm 55+ senior league . They oil the lanes Sunday night. Most of the oil has dried up.
PITIFUL. 120 bowlers. SAD .
