I'm a little torn between the two... It feels very situational... Skateboard videos are everywhere and everyone can go out and try to do it after watching a couple videos... No harm.... Just the viewer trying or practicing what they saw... Those bleached strawberries... High harm risk as some kid would think it's okay to just eat them... I mean people were eating Tide pods and are currently going around licking shelfed ice cream... Back to the skating the risk comes when they do Daredevil stunts and the viewer trys doing some super cool trick off thier roof... Learning how to bake new and inventive snakes in the microwave no harm... Other then making it wrong and having to clean up... I don't know it just feel like they both should have a part to play... DIY/how to's Rules in place for RUclips to help sway the impressionable minds and worried parents... maybe some mandatory warnings on videos so The viewer knows not to attempt without parental guidance or proper materials and safety gear... I don't know just feels like they equally need to take blame
How To Cook That I think it’s both the platform that allows the videos and the creator who makes them. Both have responsibilities to keep dangerous videos off the platform and if the creator doesn’t care the platform needs to step in and do something and if they don’t they are responsible as well I know the can’t monitor everyone but the need to monitor bigger creators because they are more likely to be seen.
@@renhey9979 yea me too I would cry myself to sleep every night and id probably react even worse than others because I just can't deal with bad emotions and she probably was also extremely sad
the problem is that these channels ARE targeted at children with no warning or parental guidance, children are the ones who click on these things. Flashy colors and back to school hacks aren’t intended for grown adults and if this lady in particular doesn’t target kids, other channels like this do, and parents need to be more aware of what their kids are watching or doing when they’re alone
Now we have COPPA in place and I guess it sorta does stop this as anything with too bright colours or just generally targeted at children gets shoved down the algorithm or (if unlabeled as such) fined for 40k .
Cookie Craze The new guidelines have their own problems though, most notably that they seem to consider anything animated to be 'child-friendly', which is really not the case. The likes of Bojack Horseman and even Rick and Morty are getting labelled as suitable for children, despite really, really not being the sort of thing young kids should be watching.
@@Cheeseanonioncrisps I do know this and it is REALLY annoying that some of my favourite channels are having to cut down on what there uploading because it's "Targeting children" but it at least makes making a channel that actively endanger children or target them with fake 'tips' , which then make the child probably think there bad at something there not , abit less profitable . Edit : All it needs now is to be abit more refined so children don't end up watching a pickle man make a rat flesh body by ripping off rat limbs to fight another tiny man .
Thing is, since of these channels that target kids have disabled comment sections. Where are kids going to find out if these are fakes?🤔 Or dangerous, for the matter
Yo, I remember watching this RUclipsr recently who said that he'd get demonitized for saying "Coronaviurs" and like wot? Do you know why that gets them demonitized??
Alost Sohul YT does that in their attempt to stop the spread of misinformation or misleading info about it. Though as long as you don’t explicitly say COVID, Corona, etc you’ll be fine. (See 5 minute crafts or whatever channel that posted it on “how to sanitise and stay healthy, Anne talks about it in a video) cause YT can only care so much
Platforms are reluctant to take down videos that actually cause real harm because they make money off them. There was a certain video site that’s not for kids, where an underage girl’s abuse was uploaded to. They refused to remove it when she pointed it out to them and it took her posing as a lawyer for them to remove it. After it had already gotten millions and millions of views. Even more reason to hate those kinds of videos and its industry
Atsunome RUclipsr: *Shows a clip of lava hot ass caramel splattering all over the place with a beater that could give you 2nd degree burns* RUclips: Eh, I'll accept this Another youtuber: Says the word "fuck" Also RUclips: YOUR ASS IS DEMONITIZED!!!
I got a 3rd degree burn from hot caramel a few years back. It took forever to heal even after seeing my doctor. And it hurt so bad for three or four weeks. It took 2 months to completely heal. Don't mess around with hot caramel.
Yes, I once got a second degree burn from hot caramel landing on my clothes. It would have turned into a third degree burn if I hadn't immediately taken off the clothes that it spilled onto. Unfortunately I was babysitting at the time...pretty embarrassing to have to explain what happened when the parents got back 😅. Luckily they were really understanding of me, but they understandably did not hire me for any future babysitting.
The first person wasn’t responsible. 5-Minute Crafts, however, is responsible for all the damage it directly causes. They should be banned from RUclips, not #3 most subscribed.
I disagree. This is a completely open platform. Anyone can make a video here, because they just host the videos. I'm not saying what they're doing is right, and perhaps RUclips should have a disclaimer, but parents should probably teach their kids not to play with bleach, and fire. I seem to see a lot of parents that are letting RUclips raise their children.
@@jloayvs1869 You are wrong. This is not a completely open platform. And not anyone can make videos here. There are a lot of youtube channels which are deleted and people who are banned from youtube and can not ever post a video here.
@@ShamankaIlona my point is, that anyone can make a video. Even the channels that do get censored have back ups. There's no prescreening. Anyone can post, it only gets deleted if it is seen by the right people. There have been crazy changes lately I know. But since. I could right now post a dangerous how to video, it's not going to be screened before being visable.
@@jloayvs1869 The difference is that many of the censored channels are (by Googles standard) controversial in a way that may negatively impact ad revenue. They will have a fairly small following, but have a hard time reaching the millions of views that these channels get (and How To Cook That is one of the very very large channels). Many channels grow organically, by slowly adding a few thousand followers now and then, then growing to maybe 50k or 100k by providing high quality content. The dangerous ones roasted here are channels that need massive advertising to get viewers, and keep their viewers hooked by using cheap, fast fakes. They are mostly aimed at children (or at least teenagers and children make up a majority of their viewers) and they create tons of ad revenue, as the people watching are not the kind of person to use an ad blocker. But RUclips are more than happy to send everyone to these fake channels, because even if only a small fraction get stuck, it is enough to create more revenue. If RUclips were to ban channels that spread dangerous material without reasonable warning, or act on improper ad placement in the video in the same vicious way they allow the music industry to claim any video acting jury, executioner and claimant at the same time, these channels would never rebuild their following. These channels depend on brand name recognition and RUclips supplying them with a platform for their message.
RUclips rules are trash honestly. In my country, there was a guy confroting a youtuber adopting cats and then starving them almost to death just so he can fake multiple videos of him "helping a kitten he found on the street starving". Multiple people made aware of him and telling the viewers to report him. He didn't get removed tho... Instead, the people who called him out got a strike for "bullying".
The burn treatment was scary. Just before Christmas last year I was cooking and a pan of boiling oil exploded all over my hands and splashed my face. I did the running water (shower) but went to hospital with an ice pack and a bag of frozen peas. Got myself a freezing icy water bath for my hands and some gel stuff for the few splotches on my face. It was awful but saved my life since I was also told to get my blood pressure checked. 9 months later, only one small scar on my chest which got no treatment because I didn’t know I’d been hit there too. You can’t tell I’d been burnt. And my blood pressure is now controlled. But damn! The idea of toothpaste? Nooooo!
5-Minute Crafts: Put Egg in Microwave for 10 Seconds and comes out as Pan-roasted pastry rolls, layered with an herbed tomato puree, a creamy blend of artisanal cheeses, and tender bites of aged salami.
Kitto the issue with putting that disclaimer is it’ll contradict with the whole “life hack: anyone can do this” message of those videos. They want to make it seem like it’s easy and makes life easier as well...
Annistar I like the “for entertainment purposes only”. The issue with putting “try at own risk” is people would still do it. That line is more for companies trying to prevent being liable for injury. Unfortunately it seems these channels don’t have to worry about that as there is no repercussions RUclips is inflicting as a result of their videos
Ok so Ask a Mortician has issues getting monetized and she is actually educating people. but these clickbait vids can ACTUALLY kill you and the get money. honestly
That's exactly what these content farms rely on. They expect that the people who watch are mindless scrollers who will think "Huh, that's a neat trick, I should try that" when they see it on Insta or Facebook and then never do. Fortunately, enough people have the common sense to call these out when they see them.
It's all three. You need to monitor your children, RUclips needs to monitor their platform, and creators need to be responsible for the content they produce.
How were they suppost to know that the TEENS (14 year olds) were gunna play with fire!? Shouldn't parent's be able to leave their teens alone for a few minutes with out hovering over them like babies?
@@BeDangerousSomeMore I don't stand over her shoulder, but her accounts are linked to mine and I do check them. I also talk to my daughter about safety including safety regarding things she shouldn't be involved with like guns, alcohol, fire, sex, and drugs. Teens do incredibly stupid things every single day and basically every teenager has done something dangerous at some point. Riding in cars without seat belts, riding bicycles without a helmet, drinking excessively, using fireworks without water and fire extinguishers, using the phone while driving, jaywalking, and a million other things are dangerous and cause serious bodily injuries and deaths every year to lots of people across all ages. Everyone makes stupid decisions all the time and that's a reality of life. All I can do as a parent is do my best to minimize risk and hope for the best.
The worst thing is that some adults are stupid enough to not see any problem with things like this as well. My mother was once helping me with a project for my biology class, and she actually had some ethanol that we used as a heat source. She actually tried to pour (slow pour from just above the bowl, may I add) more into the bowl of burning alcohol. I somehow managed to react instead of freezing up (which I do most times in situations like that) and push her hand away, but I was just stammered at how an adult could do something so stupid. She chose alcohol precisely because it's very flammable, and still almost burned herself with it. It's very chilling in retrospect after I heard that a girl actually died because of the burns she gave herself this way.
@@MaskedDeath_ it's unnerving to think about the thousands of times we have been in dangerous situations and narrowly escaped. One careless moment could be disastrous. We all love to think that it could never happen, but it happens all the time. Be safe.
I think RUclips should start taking requests to review a channel manually and show labels as “may be dangerous or contain pranks” when any of its videos are being viewed.
The only good thing twitter did was its community notes feature, and while I think it might just lead to people spoiling say story-based gameplay videos, it would be helpful for videos with illegal pranks or "hacks" Like imagine a blurb under the description like: "Viewers added context you might like to know: Ann Reardon is a food scientist and dietician. In this video, she breaks down 'X hack' from 5-minute crafts and shows not only how it doesn’t work but how to make 'X' properly."
youtube: *demonetize videos over a smallest of things like swearing* also youtube: *promotes content farms that could potentially be dangerous for children when they do the instructions incorrectly, or actually trying it* guy incognito’s comment is a joke, smh people.
As a parent, though it sounds horrible, I would rather see my child die than have them hear an unclean word. At that point I might as well retry with a new kid, anyway.
I mean...it kinda sounds like the kids and parents fault. She poured alcohol onto lit fire. And she also did this unsupervised. I feel a lil bad for her but ya...its pretty much the kids own fault
@@flameaker66 @bruh, the parents were actually around and were fully aware of what their kids were doing but they didn’t even do anything to help or tell them that it was dangerous. I agree with u, fully the parents’ fault.
edit: stop replying i get war flashbacks everytime i see the notification I feel bad for the first girl, it wasn't her fault that the death happened and the victim's parents should have been supervising her while she tried to do the hack. In this case, it wasn't the poster's fault, it's really just the lack of supervision and not following the video. PS. I am not blaming the little girl, I'm really not blaming anyone.
Rgoid That the problem of Life Hacks they don’t tell you warnings or saying Do Not tried at this at home or tell to wear safety gear. And that made me Livid because remember of the bleach strawberry. They never said do not eat it and a kid could’ve eaten a strawberry that have bleach.
The thing about kids like yourself, is that they tend to like doing things on their own, especially when they know parents might not approve. These RUclipsrs put out videos for kids without any concern for safety. They and RUclips has to hold accountable for harms their videos. Tvs and movies do that. Why won't they.
I like that when she made a video that was popular enough with her fans that even though they did it wrong, she feels that she has to take responsibility for not thinking hard enough about how people might try to copy her and get it wrong (especially kids). Now contrast that with 5 minute crafts and the rest of those content farms who do stuff that is dangerous when done exactly as shown, which has also maimed people and for which they take no responsibility whatsoever.
"Imagine that hot caramel stuck to your skin..." I don't have to imagine. I've been making homemade candy for decades, and I have received plenty of nasty burns from hot sugar syrup. It is essentially culinary napalm, and should be handled with care at all times. Thank you Ann for reinforcing this point and calling out the irresponsibility of these other RUclips channels!
I worked in a kitchen that was missing safety equipment and in my haste to keep up with the kitchen, a pot of hot liquid cinnamon sugar syrup spilled onto my left arm, leaving a second degree burn all along the underside of my forearm. Anything hot and sugary really poses more danger than, say, a pot of boiling water, which may scald you but it will not stick to you like melted candy would. I think that content creators need to be very precise and clear about warning of danger and who should or should not perform what is seen in a video, much the same way as a magician on stage will tell their audience that, "what I am doing is dangerous and should not be performed at home, without professional training."
I have nerve damage in my thumb, fore, and middle fingers on my right hand because of sugar burns. My rule is to always double glove so, if some tries to stick to you, you can take it off immediately and it will not have had a chance to melt through.
My mother received quite bad burns when she was a child due to hot caramel. In those days the instructions on tins of condensed milk called for it to be simmered for quite a long time in the unopened can. Mum went to check the water not long before the cooking time had finished and found that it had boiled dry. Unfortunately the movement of the now-dry pan and the overheated can inside caused the can to burst open and spray her with burning caramel.
In prison people have used molten candy melted on makeshit burners as a weapon because it not only burns but melts into the skin and keeps burning until it cools. That stuff is no joke.
I feel like Ms. Yeahs videos are not supposed to be taken as “tutorials” or “hacks” as she has never marketed them that way so I don’t think that the blame lies 100% on her. But definitely a disclaimer (for children especially) should be used in all videos like this.
When I was 10yo my French teacher got really badly burned on the leg that way, he was burning garden junk in his backyard and added gasoline when the fire was not big enough, he stayed in the hospital for a full month and got a really bad limp to this day
When i have kids I'm going to have a rule: if you hear of a cool experiment online or at school etc, you tell me about it and we do it together. Im all for kids being curious, especially when it comes to science or creativity. I've worked in childcare, if kids dont fear you saying no all the time, they will come to you. If its unsafe or questionable, I'll explain why with research and examples. That said, RUclips's response and attitude towards potentially dangerous videos is deplorable and they are absolutely responsible for removing said videos. It's a shame 5 minute crafs etc have so many views that RUclips doesnt want one of their best earners taken down. Yuck.
Exactly people should promote learning for their kids and safety as well it's very beneficial to everyone to have kids learning creative and scientific things and is very important later in life because they don't just blindly follow potentially dangerous activities without talking to the parent(s) first. Because if your child trusts you they will talk to you and generally make better decisions long term.
That might work... but not past like 10 years old. You can’t be watching them all the time, and they are going to want to be independent sooner or later. Better practice would be teaching them about how to do experiments safely, ie what chemicals are dangerous to use, how to use heat safely, and things like that.
The sad thing about the Ms. Yeah situation is that there isn’t really one person to blame. Ms.Yeah took about as much responsibility as she should have by saying that she would add more safety warnings and would pay for the girls’ medical bills but at the end of the day it wasn’t completely her fault. The video she posted showed a safe way of popping popcorn using a can. If the girls had followed her tutorial that accident wouldn’t have happened. However, you can’t really blame the girls, either. They are very young and at an age where they don’t necessarily understand how the world works and that for certain things you have to follow exact instructions or you will get hurt. There are grown adults who don’t know that flame travels up poured alcohol, so I’m not shocked that they didn’t know. As for the parents, you can’t really blame them either. I doubt they were around when the girls were trying something like this. I’m guessing they used rubbing alcohol or something like that which is a common household item used in first aid and cleaning. It’s not like there would be much reason to keep it locked away because they are past the age of trying to drink unknown substances (and it tastes too nasty to really worry about naughty kids trying to drink it to get buzzed). It’s just a tragic accident all around which shows that creators need to be a bit more on top of giving safety warnings whenever they use substances that could cause harm if mishandled. That won’t necessarily stop all of these kinds of accidents from happening because stuff like this can just happen cause kids will get it in their head that they know how something works when they don’t.
@arai I'm 15 and honestly me and my friends would have done something stupid like this, its honestly just a horrible mistake that shouldn't have happened
@@hadiakhan6658 The idea that a flame will travel up a liquid and in to the bottle of the flammable liquid isn't actually completely easy to believe at first. The flames jump. I mean it seems completely obvious but if you don't give a shit about science or don't think about it it's a mistake I can easily see someone make.
I mean, I can sort of understand. Strictly speaking, the video itself doesn’t posses any content that violates RUclips’s Term and Services, so there’s really no reason to take it down or demonetize it. However, I DO think that videos that deal with dangerous objects, chemicals, etc, SHOULD have warnings. Like it was stated, there are a TON of kids on RUclips (even though those girls weren’t really supposed to be using RUclips because they weren’t old enough). It’s important to keep that in mind when you use a platform like RUclips. This situation was just an unfortunate event, and I don’t think placing blame on any one person is the way to go. The uploader should’ve used warnings, the kids shouldn’t have tried to make this without adult supervision, and the parents should have been more attentive on what their kids were doing and with what. Everyone in this situation made mistakes.
Like creators getting demonetised because of the "kids content" rule which is probably being instituted because of people hurting themselves and lawsuits. Cosplayers, artists, interviewers, gamers... anything that RUclips is deeming to be something aimed at kids is no longer able to get comments or money.
@@gothicMCRgirl Warnings don't stop kids from watching, if anything they entice kids to watch more. These videos should not only be demonetized, but banned all together.
I really appreciate that even tho the video as exactly laid out wasn't directly what harmed the girls, she still took some responsibility and tried to fix things. A lot of brands/channels would just say "no it wasn't done like I did it so it's not my fault." Which may be technically true, but it's far less empathetic and hurts everyone.
I follow a creator who paints dolls (which are afterwards clearly pieces of art and not toys) and she's stopped showing the unboxing of the doll because that would class her as a toy unboxing channel aimed at children. She's also amped up the "this chemical is dangerous, don't use it" warnings which seemed way overkill to me but are apparently necessary.
@@saraseaman4657 actually that case was not the woman being stupid, the reason you think that is because of a targeted smear campaign by McDonalds. They were brewing their coffee at temperatures that burned all of the skin off of that elderly woman's thighs and surrounding area. She was stopped in a parking lot and she was the passenger. Go look it up, those warnings are never for the people using the product and are always there for the corporation to protect themselves.
If RUclips has decided “Yes, this video is acceptable/ doesn’t break our guidelines” and someone gets hurt because of said video, I do believe RUclips should be held accountable.
That's stupid. What if I saw a video on RUclips of a cliff diver and went to dive off a cliff without training and died? That is not the video's fault it's my own dumbass's fault. It's the same with those two girls.
Lord Ramuel yes but in this instance it's not common sense. These tutorials are made for kids, and when they see no warning labels or anything, they think something is safe, and they try it, and since the creator made a tutorial for kids, they intend the kids to do the very dangerous act, so no, it's still the content creators fault. If you advertise something as safe and easy to do (said by the titles of 5 minute crafts), then kids will do them, and if you lie about the safety of the dangerous act, you should be held accountable. Driving off a cliff is not the safe as spinning "harmless" caramel over a beater to make a cool dessert topping. It seems safe, easy, and delicious, so who wouldn't try the caramel? But unlike the cliff driver, it actually LIES about how dangerous it is, and doesn't show a person getting burned, or a label saying "do this with parent, or under parent supervision". Driving off a cliff and expecting to die is common sense, but seeing hot caramel almost solidify instantly and thinking that's real and safe is also common sense. However, it is not common sense to think the caramel is dangerous at first glance, and that the cliff is safe. So no, pretty different.
I'm against that. If I'm right in the pretense we will see shortly in the realm of copyright but if you make the platform accountable for things like this they will not want to take that responsibility and overblock heavily (aka anything that could be slightly dangerous would be blocked or disallowed). Also why is it that parents are seemingly never in the equation? Frankly if kids (little kids) have unadministered access to flamables and the means to ignite them in their own homes, sorry that is 99,99% fault of the parent's lack of supervision. My parents never asked or cared where I got a stupid idea from, I did the mess, I had to stand for it. "but xyz did it too" wasn't even an argument
Shinji Matou even if videos are meant for kids, it's not like you'd not put safety labels, plus, 5 minutes crafts is notorious for having kids content and still saying "no it's not made for kids" when it is. They are lying, and Ann readon actually talked about this in another video. They literally have a channel called 5 minutes crafts kids, and they still don't check the "it's made for kids" box. Also, fake videos or dangerous videos without warning shouldn't exist anyway, so it's not the parents fault for watching every single "kid" video with them. Remember, the major demographic of 5 minute crafts is kids, so wether or not it was intended that way, they have a style that kids watch, and it's not the parents' responsibility to expect a video made for kids to have "dangerous" acts with no warnings. Also, side note, 5 minutes craft showed the caramel being safe and you wouldn't burn, all you gotta do is get an egg beater, but Ann reason showed us that's fake. Is it the parents fault for not checking if a video is fake or not? Parents don't know what content farms are. Besides, the entire POINT of a recipe is supposed to be instructions, so if the video isn't real instructions and you have to do research on your own, then what's the fucking point of recipe videos? Same goes with life hacks, if you do a life hack that "works" and it doesn't work, then you shouldn't just not watch every single life hack or recipe. Content farms are outliers to the huge amount of legit and safe life hacks/recipes, so the parents shouldn't have to compensate for scummy businesses trying to gain money
I think it is important for parents to educate their children about the authenticity of youtube videos. We know that this is a public platform and has videos that may or may not contain legitimate content. By giving them the information to make informed decisions that keep them safe.
YES. I am a nanny for two little girls, six and nine. They can already tell me whether or not a photo or video has a filter on it and if a hack is just fun and silly or if it actually does something. Raise your kids to outsmart the clickbait and it will decline in value to creators.
Goleon Its for entertainment like if two people were fencing and people were watching for their entertainment. They're professionals they know how to do it. They're meant for entertainment and not do it yourself.
Goleon I’m sorry but did you even watch the video? A girl LOST her life, and the other lost a friend. How cold of a person do you have be to not have any remorse for them.
remember the time buzzfeed told people to engrave wood with a magnifying glass? I tried it with a welding mask because I knew better, even then it caused such a bright light it could have easily caused blindness. I really worry about these videos, nobody checks if they're safe.
@@Scrapegoat yeah i would see it in cartoons all the time and it looked so cool to me as a young child. luckily we didnt have any magnifying glasses lying around
I showed the first part of this to my 8-year-old, and we had a talk about not repeating things she might see online on her own. We're careful to keep the channels and content she watches supervised, but you never know what could be shown by friends or whatever. I feel it's important to talk about with kids and warn them of the dangers of trying experiments without adult permission/supervision.
When I grew up, the how-to craft channels on TV always said "ask a parent for help" when dealing with even safety scissors. Now even drills don't get that warning :/
Yes, that is something more people should do! The internet can be a great tool but disinformation is rampant because it gets the clicks. Also since we know in internet terms clicks = money the problem lies in content creators that just spout garbage for money and those who consume it believing it without researching it. That's not to mention the companies who allow these content farms to exist even though it is in clear violation of their own rules and policies.
if youtube thinks it is alright to tell off creators like codyslab who always uses disclaimers and explains scientifically what he is doing and why and how it is safe for him to do then they should also be as heavy handed with a channel that promotes bleaching strawberries. i also think it is up to a parent to explain to their children that if they want to try something they saw online that they should obtain adult permission and if necessary supervision too.
Thats a very good practice. A lot of parents don't realize how dangerous and misinformative the internet can be for children if they're left unsupervised. It's good that you're talking to your kid about that stuff.
well there are things that are just...you don't try them. Like stabbing yourself, throwing water at a burnind tv while it still has electricity on. Or putting alcohol at a burning thing, or putting water at a grease fire... But again i understand that some humans do not pay attention in class or they just don't learn it or just don't research it before. But i don't know... humans are sometimes dumb.
What i love most about ann reardon’s debunking videos is that she actually TRIES and EXPERIMENTS for us and shows us WHILE EXPLAINING the rationale behind everything.
melissa Ms yeah actually did have that in English and Chinese. But they ignored it. Ms yeah never claimed to be a life hack channel. But an entertainment channel. She’s a woman turning her work office into a kitchen with lots of love pets and funny antics and a silky guy always flirting with her. That’s nowhere near life hack. The curious creations of Christine McConnell is actually informative with real recipes but you don’t see people trying to live with a real werewolf do you?
@@InsaneLaughter01 you're right I don't think she shoulf be held responsible for this accident. What a shame that kid died but ms yeah isn't the one to blame.
lol this statement just brings me back to a childhood love of mine of watching mythbusters but i dont think its purely a responsibility of the content creator i think parents shouldnt let their kids do such things that are dangerous as well as should teach their kids basic common sense on if something would be safe or not as well as teaching safety practices

I think there is a difference here: Ms Yeah did something possible in her video, but when you are young and unexperienced, many things can go wrong, so i'd call this a tragic accident. However, things are different for the 5 minute crafts channels: first, they also have a specific teen/kids channel in which they upload super dangerous things. Second, their "hacks"are just clickbaits that won't and can't work, so, in this case, RUclips should at least demonetize them or force them to put a disclaimer in their videos, otherwise they should close.
RUclips: Demonetizes videos with swear words Also RUclips: 'we won't intervene with children being instructed to consume bleach' What has happened to common sense?
@Noah Cliff Ann probably said it best. It's about the money, specifically how much money Google is willing to invest into RUclips. It's probably easier to moderate out swear words using their algorithm than it to moderate out a good chunk of the harmful demonstrations being shown. Heck, RUclips even tries to do that and they get it wrong because videos such as those that demonstrate scientific experiments not meant to be repeated by the viewer have been taken down or demonetized despite disclaimers being made. @TheKyubiisaan No kidding. I'd be set for life if I got a nickel for every time I've seen a comment about how evil liberals are like the one Mr.Skyppy SDK made.

I just have to tell you after working with hot caramel and fudge and a lot of deserts with 30 years in the food industry, You have given the best answer and shown people without just telling them oh no this will burn you. I Have seen the video you are talking about where they spin the caramel like that. I took one look at it and new that it would burn the crap out of you, As I am sure you did as well. Kudos to you though for taking the ultra high professional road and being such a great teacher knowing that people would not believe it just if you told them it would burn. Just the temperatures that you show before you do the experiment. And for any body who has never been burnt by caramel you do not want it. I repeat you do not want it. It is terrible it scars quickly and skin sloughs off quickly. I love your channel. God-bless you and keep cranking out the videos. You are an amazing talent
Agreed, the only reason why my hot caramel burn wasn't as bad was that the caramel landed on my clothes and I immediately took them off. Still got a 2nd degree burn and possibly scarred the kids I was babysitting for life, but overall I was extremely lucky.
They need to add an additional button. The dislike button dont mean shit. Add a #clickbait or #needsreview button then the platform can review. Platforms dont review dislikes. Viewers have no voice
You can report the channel and the video. but unless it is copyright they do not care. And it probably has to get at least a 10% report/view ratio to be considered.
@@57thorns RUclips seem to care about videos "for children," if them spamming my inbox with warnings to tag the videos I don't have with "for children" markers is any indication.
When Bieber’s videos got 80% dislikes and became trending, as well as Ghost Busters, and many videos, it became known for years that the people clicking dislike does not bury the video, but pushes it to trending the same as the like button. That’s why the science channels tell viewers to click either like or dislike, because both helps the video.
@@cilantro_4839 but the same ad companies are totally fine with putting their ads over videos showing "don't try this at home" content with no warnings... smh
@@aaronmarcus6976 Yeah that's true. And I think it's because they put ads on so many things which makes it impossible to know what content is actually being shown. When it comes to demonetization, it's all automated. The software detects sweat words. But a software can't really detect whether information in a video is harmful or not. It's an incredibly flawed system.
@@cilantro_4839 Well, you know if there's a scandal like the one with the two girls in America, there will be certainly a new ad-pocalypse with a lot of brands quitting youtube ads and youtube being more harsh on monetized content :p Although, I don't see how they will detect harmful tricks ^^'
The final thing that nobody has mentioned for blame in the girl's death is the school system/teaching of fire safety. I can still remember talks from the fire service about *never* pouring flammable liquids onto an open flame. Of course they might have known and just had a temporary lapse in judgement, but if I was the authorities in that case I'd definitely be looking into whether kids are getting the incredibly important lessons on fire safety that could actually save their lives. And the information should (and hopefully has) be updated to cover these types of online videos.
RUclips really needs to pay attention to these stupid “life hacks” instead of throwing all their attention to videos with curse words, copyright songs and stuff.
5-min crafts: Posts dangerous "hacks" that can badly harm or even kill an impressionable child RUclips: Meh. A RUclipsr: says a swear word once RUclips: *NOW THIS IS AN AVENGERS LEVEL THREAT!!*
Seriously a dose of reality here adults make mistakes like that and have accidents, kids do these things all the time and don't die, how does a 14yr old not even know how flammable alcohol is. It should be more like useless life hacks which are dangerous to anyone, all kinds of people try these things.
as a new father to a 7 week old boy and already worrying about his future, and I know this is probably not the popular opinion, but I feel the responsibility falls on the parents. As parents we should be teaching our children critical thinking and also being aware of the content they are consuming. As much as we want other people or entities, like RUclips, to protect us from stuff like this, it doesn't change the fact that we will always deal with misinformation, and sometimes that misinformation is intentionally dangerous, and it can come from any source. And in the example given in this video, the events might have been a lot less tragic if the girls had made their parents a part of their project. I would want my son to tell me if he wants to try something like that, and then I can research it and figue out if its safe, and then use that as a nice practical learning experience.
I see why is unpopular opinion because thats saying they should be helicopter parents constantly monitoring every little thing their kid watches 24/7 which is not humanely possible, they have to cook and clean the kitchen and do laundry or work, and plus youtuber is actively teaching your kid how to do this so responsibility is on them actually
@@macromicro3609 Rather than helicopter parenting I'd say it's a matter of trust and properly parenting your child. Fostering trust so that your child knows they can ask you to do these things with them. So they know if it turns out it's not a good idea or dangerous they won't be mocked or scolded. Instead they know their parent will help them find a safe way to experiment. It also means letting your child know not to believe everything on the internet and that it can be dangerous not only for the child but for others. For example, "I see you want to follow this tutorial. Let's do some research together and if it's safe we'll get the supplies for it." or "Unfortunately this tutorial isn't safe. We can find a similar one that is or an entirely new one, what do you want to do?"
I think the problem is when the parents dont know much of the internet. They dont know how much of it can be dangerous. They dont know how to use electronics so they also cant see what their kids are watching.
Also once caramel cools it can be very sharp, i once impaled my finger with caramel and it got stuck, but luckily it's caramel and will break down if you lick it. Conclusion - Caramel can burn and cut so be careful.

I'm rewatching your videos because you have such a calming voice. Especially today, when things seem to be falling apart, watching you debunk "hacks" somehow makes everything seem alright. As if an unjustice is corrected.
This is the first RUclips recommendation video that actually added value to my life. I am an adult who loves to try making different desserts. I came across that caramel video on Instagram last week and I was definitely going to try the electric whisk poor. Thank you for saving me from myself and a fraudulent video.

The content creators should definitely put safety warnings and disclaimers in their videos, at least in the description. If RUclips doesn’t change their policies, yes, they should be held accountable for the damage that the video has caused.
What really shocks me, is that I am an adult and probably would have followed that caramel-tutorial. Now I will think twice before I follow any of those „recipes.“ Thank you!
It's still on their Facebook, they're promoting it now and then, with the catchy phrase; 'Oohh lovely for spring' or something. This year, that was. Lots of comments from people ready to try it and tagging each other, but *also* (luckily) lots of people linking them to this video. However, some started saying; 'If you don't like it don't watch it' and 'ugh leave them alone, they're just being a great channel, jealous much xD?" and *those* profiles looked fake, so I think they have their own made-up-fanbase as well and promote their content with their fake profiles.
Those 5-Minute Hacks people need molten candy dumped on their tender bits every five minutes... There are somewhat dangerous things that are fine with proper care taken and at least warnings to be careful if attempted... those despicable criminals demonstrate items like this as perfectly safe and no warnings and get paid for it...They are the true culprits and You Tube is complicit by paying them. Since You Tube won't take responsibility for these actions, time to go after the advertisers... if they are getting attacked for promoting dangerous acts, they will stop advertising and the money dries up.
RUclips just recommended me this video and I am so glad that you make these kinds of debunking videos! There are too many videos where content creators don't put the proper amount of warning information (if they give warnings at all) and it gets ignored by viewers. You showing the real dangers and flaws in these videos is highly appreciated and I thank you for the hard work you put into making these videos!
i honestly feel some of these made purely for the intention of entertainment as in reality making most of these wont only cause property type damage like pans etc but physical, imagine your stood with your little son or daughter and you spin up the whisker full of molten sugar and it whips all over the kitchen across you and a small child? there is zero way that video was made to actually show people how to do it and i can only think they'll hope people never bother doing it. but then why call it like 5 min crafts which is an indication they are trying to show tips on crafting or cooking etc. im probably looking way too much into it.
5 minute crafts shows to put your hand into a plugged in blender to grab a handful of crumbs in a follow along recipe. No warning, no get your parents if you're a child. There is no care for safety whatsoever.
The platform MUST be held at fault when they promote dangerous content, otherwise it will never stop. RUclips MUST be held LEGALLY responsible for every single injury that arises from any content they promote and profit from.
no...its the user's fault. if you want to make youtube responsable then you'll need to follow that logic across the board in life. any harm done using any tools the manufacturer is at fault. all vehicle accidents, manufacturer at fault etc. you cannot blame the creator cause you cam easily prevent your kids NOT to replicate youtube content. i have 3 daughters it isn't that difficult.
@@dusklunistheumbreon uh no... we literally have classes to race cars etc. and we showcase racing on TV. there are lots of videos out there where kids csn copy them. in addition to video games and toys. should we cancel production of toys and video games due to violence? try again...
Wait. The bleached strawberry video is still monetized?? WTF RUclips? A video that uses mild profanity or has someone drinking beer gets demonitized but a video that tells people to do something that's going to kill them doesn't? Nice priorities there. As for responsibility, I think the creator is obviously at fault, but I think that if RUclips's been told "Hey, this video's going to get someone killed" and refused to do anything about it then they are also at fault.
@@tyronepatrick8690 That is a valid point but I want to know how old the kids are. Maybe its just me, I was always a paranoid kid and still kinda am as an adult. But have these parents not even bothered to educate their kids about not consuming it? The creator of the video is not completely at fault. They made the video for entertainment and to show the cool things you can do with some chemicals. I doubt they told everyone to eat the bleached strawberries(unless that was the whole point of the video, if it was food hacks. Which, why? You don't eat or drink Bleach!! Why are you telling people this?) This creator has only part of the blame really, because the parents should have been supervising their children and the kids should have been smarter. But if they knowingly put out the video, without any warnings whatsoever knowing someone not so smart is gonna do it and try eating it, then they hold a big part of the blame. Kids make dumb decisions all the time, but a big part of it comes from the fact that no one bothers to teach them against something because they don't believe it would ever happen. A parent shouldn't have to be worried about their child eating a *bleached strawberry* of all things. But if they have bleach in the house, the children need to be taught that bleach isn't something you can consume. I do believe that perhaps that video should be taken down, if it is not full of warnings and DO NOT DO THIS kind of stuff with the creators voice. Otherwise kids will be, "Oh I can do this, he did it so easily in the video," (This has been edited to an extent because I found out just where the video with strawberries came from and I was not happy in the least. But still, what I said still holds true, the parents and kids themselves both hold some blame as well as the creator. I believe all parties are at fault if measures are not taken to ensure stuff like this doesn't happen.)
I agree. RUclips shouldn't be blanket responsible for everything that's uploaded on their platform, but if multiple people have brought a dangerous video to their attention and they make an official statement that "actually this is fine" then they are just as responsible as the uploader at that point.
The only time I've ever requested a repost of my art be removed from a platform was because someone had taken my photos of custom gummies made for a cosplay and attached a fake tutorial on how to make them involving pouring molten gummy into superglued acrylic or glass Christmas decorations and then shattering them when the gummy was cool. It was extra mind-boggling because I already had a tutorial attached to the image including ingredients, how I made the mold using food-safe silicone mold media, and even where to buy the specific silicone. It was super weird, and the reposter/fake tutorial maker had a whole tantrum over how unfair it was.
The reposter refused to take it down, but Tumblr took it down for me. I had even offered to let the reposter keep the images up if they removed the fake tutorial or replaced it with the real tutorial but they refused so I had to go nuclear with it.
@@undeadmeats That's crazy and I'm glad that Tumblr sided with you! Thank you for being aware and taking action, even when you got pushback. Responsible creators who make awesome stuff are the good side of the internet, right alongside corgis, of course. 😉😆
I think it should be the responsibility of the channels to ensure that anything they recommend doing is safe for people, especially their target demographic. However, it should also be the responsibility of RUclips to monitor things that do not follow this rule. The lines are blurred in these scenarios because there are things shown that should not be tried at home but should still remain on the platform. A video of a guy falling off the roof in a funny way should not be remade, but it should not be taken down, either. I believe that if they advertise the video as "inspiration" or as a "DIY", they should have to follow more rules that ensure the safety of those performing it.
A few years ago, I tried to make a five minute craft bracelet from their channel, and to do so had to melt straws. I now have a huge burn scar on my knee from when the plastic was on fire and dropped on my knee. Nowhere near as bad as this though, I hope that poor girl can find peace.
Its so frustrating to see. I wish RUclips would do something about fake DIYs. I remember doing tasty videos and they always worked and the fake videos inflated the market and I was just a teenager so it was so disappointing to learn the hard way that the fake DIYs took over the internet. Thank you for doing these videos. I have three young nieces who love youtube and I love to show them creators like you!
I've done a few DIYs myself, including some soldering, I always stress the importance of protective gear and purposefully don't edit them for a genuine video, they've had a total of tens of views because of content farms It's impossible to make it as a DIY content creator these days
syeda rizvi i once tried making caramel candy with an adult and the candies were very hot even after becoming hard and leaving them for half an hour to cool afterwards
The caramel part was scary, imagine if you do this, you'll get hot caramel on your skin, clothes, hair, furniture, etc. Lesson is: don't do it, otherwise you end up in hospital or get property damage.
My friend made her own caramel once. She got distracted briefly and her hand dipped into the hot caramel. She had 3rd degree burns and coultn use her hand for over a month. And she has permanent scarring and nerve damage
I love this series. It's sorely needed. Though I do have to ask where the parents were. My kids and I do experiments like this but we do the research together to do it safely.
It seems like something kids would do while alone at home. Yes while leaving kids alone at home isn't reccomended, it still happens because of how busy parents are.
My parents worked long hours and I was often left alone at home, or with very little adult supervision. I can 100% see how I would attempt those hacks and hurt myself. I never hurt myself in my past, but I definitely tried all sorts of hacks I saw on the Discovery Channel Kids when I was young. Including one that said to mix water, flour and sugar and freeze it to make candy (surprise, it didn't work). Children are gullible and they don't always ask for parents permission, specially if they are absent in the first place. And parent absenteeism is not necessarily their faults either. There are multiple reasons behind that. Single parents, long hours, expensive child care, workplaces that don't accommodate parents... I'd not blame the parents on these. I'd blame the platform for not withdrawing this video from children's pages and the creators for creating it in the first place.
@@WickedPlaysChannel but the parents should have taught them already that you shouldn't play with fire.. and how did they get alcohol? If you leave children home alone you should put things like alcohol, medicin and chemicals away.

Thanos - The Raisin With Anger Issues Alcohol container exploded, showering her in burning alcohol. Very difficult to rub or wipe off, it essentially just has to burn off. Stop drop and roll would be the best bet but it can only do so much, especially given the floor was almost certainly on fire too. Not to mention the sheer panic of the two young girls
@@coolboy2153 this sounds like a literal hell. where the heck were their parents? why were two youngsters left alone with access to matches and alcohol? i just can't imagine being this useless to protect your children.
Rebecca A. I don’t think it’s very great or you to go after the parents. It’s not like these girls were young enough that they should have been under constant supervision.
Sarah Rogers Maybe they meant helpless to protect your children, rather than useless. After all, if I had a teenaged daughter and her dejen sleeping over and they wanted to make popcorn, I probably wouldn’t think twice unless I knew they had an interest in these DIY videos. Better supervision could have saved these girls from this pain and suffering, but no kid wants that much supervision. Just a tragedy all around, I don’t blame the parents (at least legally speaking there’s no pot to piss in there) and I definitely don’t blame the RUclips creator behind that video in particular. That bleached strawberry one, however, is knowingly dangerous and potentially lethal. I feel like the only leg they have to stand on is to claim the strawberries are for display only, which they don’t say, or to emphasize that it’s a joke (IE the meme of bleach being used to kill oneself, which isn’t funny just something that’s been around on the internet since the one girl attempted suicide a long time ago). That strawberry video needs to be taken down or age restricted and given a disclaimer
Seriously? I really can't really blame Ms yeah for this when she uses a safe and controlled alcohol burner, and these kids start playing with fire unsupervised.
It's a mixed bag of blames. Ms. Yeah for showing the DIY, the kids for not following what she did correctly or not waiting until a parent could get home, and the parents for not being around to supervise. And then RUclips and Facebook and Snapchat for not banning these sorts of videos or putting a warning to begin with.
@@BrokensoulRider If you think any fault falls onto Ms Yeah you're brain dead. That's like saying if somebody uploaded a normal video of them cooking, a kid tried to recreate it, did something wrong, and in the process burned their house down its the uploader of the original videos fault. Nah.
The more I watch this channel, the more inspiration I get to experiment with custom recipes and figure out if my recipes are edible. So far I have 5 edible recipes :3
Just quickly: a minor burn should be run under *room temperature* water. The cells have been burned and are going to be more sensitive to temperature, so room temperature is actually better for a burn than cool water. Like you said, cold water can cause more damage to the burned skin, but so can cool water. It should feel relatively neutral on unburnt skin, so before putting the burnt skin under the running water, you should always test with your uninjured inner wrist, if possible. Let the water run over the burn for 20 minutes, again, if possible. Never use a cold pack or ice. You can cause tissue damage or cell death.
Kimberly Elliott Room temp water IS cool water! Plus if it’s coming from the tap it’s ground temp which doesn’t often get that cold. Anything colder than your body temp (or the burn site) is “cool” in relation. If you’ve ever had a quick infusion of room temp saline, it’s enough to make you shiver.
Good advice, but people should not fiddle with the water temp while they are being BURNED BY HOT CARAMEL. Obviously, ice water is not a good idea, but the point is to get whatever's burning you off ASAP. Also, part of the purpose of the water is to reduce inflammation immediately after the injury, not just to cool off the burn.
I think for videos like these, it's the creators fault. However, if RUclips is notified about the danger of the videos, lets it stay up, and someone gets hurt, part of the blame also gets added to RUclips
not only are children vulnerable to seeing this and trying it themselves, there are a lot of adults out there who don’t know how to cook or just lack common sense who will want to try these too, they’re really trying to get everyone hurt huh
Just heard about a guy who didn't know oven mitts were a thing and just accepted that he had to remove the pan with his bare hands whenever he cooked. I could see him trying something dangerous from one of these videos.
You should collaborate with Legal Eagle to talk about this! He’s a lawyer who talks about real law cases, including RUclips’s recent legal controversies.
Hot caramel is like napalm. It sticks to the skin, is very viscous and is extremely painful. I sadly have seen multiple cases of aweful caramel burns as an interim( i think that's the word for a student nurse getting work experience in a hospital). Because of it's stickiness/thickness it almost never gets removed completely before they arrive at the ER, and when they arrive there it is already too late because it keeps burning the whole way to the hospital. I myself had an accident with caramel in the kitchen and it was one of the most painful experiences I have had. If you do burn yourself with caramel number 1 thing is completely removing every single drop of it and the clothes it came in contact with, it might hurt at first but it wil save so much more pain than you can ever imagine.
Caramel is sugar. Sugar sticks to the skin. I remember an ER episode where a couple used melted gummy bears instead of wax for their "playtime" and hoo boy. Fun.
@@Rudenbehr Think of sugar as like a barrier. Especially when it's burnt. Cold water can't really do much. It will burn and continue burning until your skin is basically more fucked up than cereal with no milk.
Stumbled upon your channel and I gotta say, I super super love the content! Love that it's not only all about cooking and baking but the safety awareness. Props to you, madam.
I, too, think that it should be the creator’s responsibility, but RUclips needs to take action and deal with its bad actors. I’m sure it’s not easy, but the report function should have SOME effect. Great video Ann!
If a video is reported, they review it and decided if it violates any of their policies. They currently have a policy that says "Content that aims to encourage dangerous or illegal activities that risk serious physical harm or death is not allowed on RUclips." support.google.com/youtube/answer/2801964?hl=en. But the bleached strawberries was not deemed by multiple reviewers to be dangerous, or not dangerous enough??
When I was growing up (pre-internet), my parents always said, "don't believe everything you see on tv!" The point was to think about whether what you saw or heard makes sense. The internet is no different. Ideally, no one would deliberately put a tutorial out there that is flat-out dangerous. But ideally, people would also have common sense not to do something just because it was on a video.
I agree with you, but what if the information that formed your common sense was overwhelmingly wrong. It’s easy to pick out a few things that don’t make sense when most of the information you receive is correct. To do it the other way around is much harder. As adults, we’ve already developed common sense that we can base our judgment on and did it in a time when the majority of information was correct, but the world today is different. There’s a greater amount of information (including misinformation) of a greater complexity. Today’s generation seems to lack rational thinking, which may be true but a higher level is also required of them than previous generations. They need a little more help to develop the “right” kind of common sense. There’s even an increasing amount of adults who believe in “fake news,” so I say we cut the kids some slack and give them some guidance if we have the chance.

Both have responsibilities to keep dangerous videos off the platform and if the creator doesn’t care the platform needs to step in and do something and if they don’t they are responsible as well I know the can’t monitor everyone but the need to monitor bigger creators because they are more likely to be seen.

the problem is that these channels ARE targeted at children with no warning or parental guidance, children are the ones who click on these things. Flashy colors and back to school hacks aren’t intended for grown adults and if this lady in particular doesn’t target kids, other channels like this do, and parents need to be more aware of what their kids are watching or doing when they’re alone
Yes you are right about it
Now we have COPPA in place and I guess it sorta does stop this as anything with too bright colours or just generally targeted at children gets shoved down the algorithm or (if unlabeled as such) fined for 40k .
Cookie Craze
The new guidelines have their own problems though, most notably that they seem to consider anything animated to be 'child-friendly', which is really not the case.

@@jloayvs1869 but the argument from the original comment is: they should be banned/held responsible

Nooooo!

What happened to the “Don’t try this at home” disclaimer everyone used to put on videos back is 2010?

Annistar I like the “for entertainment purposes only”. The issue with putting “try at own risk” is people would still do it. That line is more for companies trying to prevent being liable for injury.
Be safe.

N R have fun telling the hospital you licked burning hot caramel!

Yuck.
Nicola Hooy preach it. Can you say it louder for the owner of youtube in the back.
Agreed...I have two curious little boys...we do experiments, bake and make all sorts of things from slime to crystals to edible decorations etc
Nicola Hooy oooo

I found almost insulting that YT screws over so many content creators with demonetization. But this kind of videos are still able to have monetization

It’s interesting that this is allowed when they are about to try to restrict craft channels and art channels as being “kid” channels.
RachelLynn Creator seems like this death might be one of the triggers for these changes...
Well.....it's the same reasoning behind the hot coffee warning on your McDonald's coffee cup. Someone was stupid.
@@saraseaman4657 actually that case was not the woman being stupid, the reason you think that is because of a targeted smear campaign by McDonalds. If RUclips has decided “Yes, this video is acceptable/ doesn’t break our guidelines” and someone gets hurt because of said video, I do believe RUclips should be held accountable.
i would say youtube and the content creator

I showed the first part of this to my 8-year-old, and we had a talk about not repeating things she might see online on her own. We're careful to keep the channels and content she watches supervised, but you never know what could be shown by friends or whatever. you're a very good parent!

When Bieber’s videos got 80% dislikes and became trending, as well as Ghost Busters, and many videos, it became known for years that the people clicking dislike does not bury the video, but pushes it to trending the same as the like button. as a new father to a 7 week old boy and already worrying about his future, and I know this is probably not the popular opinion, but I feel the responsibility falls on the parents.
Preach 🙏
You certainly do make a good point.

However, some started saying; 'If you don't like it don't watch it' and 'ugh leave them alone, they're just being a great channel, jealous much xD?" and *those* profiles looked fake, so I think they have their own made-up-fanbase as well and promote their content with their fake profiles.

RUclips just recommended me this video and I am so glad that you make these kinds of debunking videos!
I think the parents are also at fault because WHY IN THE WORLD will they leave their CHILDREN unattended with BLEACH
Otherwise kids will be, "Oh I can do this, he did it so easily in the video,"
(This has been edited to an extent because I found out just where the video with strawberries came from and I was not happy in the least. But still, what I said still holds true, the parents and kids themselves both hold some blame as well as the creator. I believe all parties are at fault if measures are not taken to ensure stuff like this doesn't happen.)
Whats wrong with the video? If you eat something covered in bleach you deserve to die from natural selection. Its obviously not for eating.

Did they take it down, or did they get away with it?

It was really dumb and unsafe to do that.

@@HowToCookThat I concur. Common sense seems to have begun fading.

@@BrokensoulRider It's not Ms Yeah's fault at all.
Failure Bee from what I understand it wasn’t even really a DIY, just for entertainment
@@BrokensoulRider If you think any fault falls onto Ms Yeah you're brain dead. That's like saying if somebody uploaded a normal video of them cooking, a kid tried to recreate it, did something wrong, and in the process burned their house down its the uploader of the original videos fault. Nah.
I blame all parties c:

Just quickly: a minor burn should be run under *room temperature* water. The cells have been burned and are going to be more sensitive to temperature, so room temperature is actually better for a burn than cool water. Like you said, cold water can cause more damage to the burned skin, but so can cool water. It should feel relatively neutral on unburnt skin, so before putting the burnt skin under the running water, you should always test with your uninjured inner wrist, if possible. Let the water run over the burn for 20 minutes, again, if possible.
Never use a cold pack or ice. You can cause tissue damage or cell death.
Kimberly Elliott
Room temp water IS cool water! Plus if it’s coming from the tap it’s ground temp which doesn’t often get that cold. Anything colder than your body temp (or the burn site) is “cool” in relation.
If you’ve ever had a quick infusion of room temp saline, it’s enough to make you shiver.
Kimberly Elliott OH FU-
@@Chemeleon15 if it's coming from the tap, then it's not called "room temperature"
I personally apply a bit of honey on the burn and it does a good job of soothing it and taking away the redness.
Idk if anyone will get this but she’s like the cooking Jarvis Johnson and I love it
You know him too

Why is this so accurate
Makes sense
oh my gosh your right
I think for videos like these, it's the creators fault. However, if RUclips is notified about the danger of the videos, lets it stay up, and someone gets hurt, part of the blame also gets added to RUclips
not only are children vulnerable to seeing this and trying it themselves, there are a lot of adults out there who don’t know how to cook or just lack common sense who will want to try these too, they’re really trying to get everyone hurt huh
colleen ryan *stares in american* I agree
Just heard about a guy who didn't know oven mitts were a thing and just accepted that he had to remove the pan with his bare hands whenever he cooked. I could see him trying something dangerous from one of these videos.
My sister loves 5-minute crafts and has copied a few of their hacks. I pray she never tries the cooking ones
Well if some so happened lacks to "just lack some common sense" its there fault.
Why are there 3.8 k dislikes on this video
You should collaborate with Legal Eagle to talk about this! He’s a lawyer who talks about real law cases, including RUclips’s recent legal controversies.
Ikr
absolutely!!! great idea!!! I love LegalEagle and this would be an AWESOME video
omg yesss
Okay, now I'm scared of caramel....
Its scary thk god I don't like Sweet becus I mgt have try it
Caramel is sugar.
Sugar sticks to the skin. I remember an ER episode where a couple used melted gummy bears instead of wax for their "playtime" and hoo boy. Fun.
Why can’t you put it under some cold water?
@@Rudenbehr Think of sugar as like a barrier. Especially when it's burnt.
Cold water can't really do much. It will burn and continue burning until your skin is basically more fucked up than cereal with no milk.
Stumbled upon your channel and I gotta say, I super super love the content! Love that it's not only all about cooking and baking but the safety awareness. Props to you, madam.
The safety awareness is what attracted me, glad I'm not the only one who appreciates it
I, too, think that it should be the creator’s responsibility, but RUclips needs to take action and deal with its bad actors.
I grew up with the same info hammered quite often by my parents that everything shown on TV doesn't translate to real life
Kids don't have deductive reasoning like adults do.
Majority of People don't have common sense
@@AD-jq7ow ain't that the truth.
Here is a popcorn hack....
It's called microwave.
I don’t have a microwave. I use the nice controllable heat source known as a stove to make popcorn.
There's no single scenario I can think of where you would only have a can, an alcohol burner and popcorn and nothing else.
Or even....
A popcorn maker.
Mine works really well and the popcorn tastes really good. Although you have to melt butter of you want it and get salt.
Yeah and air poppers aren’t that expensive
