Documentaries about the science/biological things are being gay or having autism and other things is fine, to make people who are like that get to know themselves better from an objective point of view, but people accepting who you are, you shouldn’t waste your time on those people, even if they are your best friends or family, and as long as no physical abuse happens from you coming out or whatever, you should just take all the verbal abuse, and let it fuel yourself in becoming stronger, and further owning who you are, even if you’re a kid/teen. Everybody has this in them, it’s just a matter of not thinking of other people’s reaction, and realizing, that just being a 100% good person ain’t gonna cut it in this world, you gotta make some difficult choices to achieve your goals, either your own, or for other people, which nobody can hold you responsible for, as long as your not doing anything illegal, cause within those limits, all you do will only fall back on yourself.

I hope that LGBT-community and black people will have better representation in future, because "in this remake we'll make main character of popular show black and gay" - isn't good representation, Pixar and Sony did it perfect in "Elemental" and "Spider-Man: Aross the spiderverse" - just made new characters

Disney seems to think that just saying the character is nonbinary is enough to be progressive. Also the film is about a heterosexual couple falling in love, a man and woman, and heterosexual is a sexuality. Since this is a KIDS MOVIE and not an ADULTS MOVIE, that should not have happened. I'm not saying that they should explicitly show and explain every sexuality and gender identity, but they shouldn't treat the LGBTQIA+ as something unique to add to their character to make them special.

No, it's not representation. Representation is when the main character is nonbinary and it's relevant to the plot. I'll come back when it's actual representation.
I don't want it to be relevant to the plot. I want LGBT people who can just be LGBT and not have it be a major element in their day to day life or the plot of the media. I want a person who happens to be LGBT. What media needs is representation that reflects real life. Showing that gay people do not need to have a "gay story" to "earn" their presence. That theyre just people who have full lives and stories, and gayness is a facet of them. I don't want another Moonlight or Danish girl. I want a real story.
Well having a character be nonbinary wouldnt even mean anything. Being nonbinary means nothing. Its just attention seeking. Being nonbinary will never be relevant to any significant plot. What, the movie will just be them constantly reminding people about their pronouns? That's annoying.

If they’re gonna do representation make it an actual character. I would prefer a side character who has 10 lines and 5 minutes of screentime over FIVE FRAMES AND NOT A SINGLE LINE
Queer people don’t want representation that lasts a single scene. We want _proper_ representation. Main characters who are more than just their sexuality/gender. Interesting characters that just happen to be queer, not queer characters that are uninteresting. Mitch from Paranorman. Gwen from Spiderverse. Valkyrie & Loki from Thor. Y’know, actually important characters that, if they were removed from their respective films, would be a massive loss. You showed this non-binary character for, like, a split second. Gwen? It’s not very good representation if I didn’t even know she was queer lmao but maybe they’ll delve into it in the future movies (or at least imply it somehow)
@@spook6394Why not? That's the goal? Isn't it? Having a gender/sexual identity just being there without it ever being an issue or even relevant apart from their dating partner.
@@XMaster340 because we exist openly. People notice. I feel like I should be able to notice my representation, otherwise what even is the point of it? Otherwise, it’s just a headcannon, which we do all the time anyways. Like “peter parker is a trans man.” No one really specified if he’s cis or trans, so many trans people headcannon him as trans. That’s not representation though, that’s just trans people seeing themselves in a character. I could do that with the majority of characters in fiction. Because unless they specify, it’s Shrodinger’s cat. Everyone’s gay and no one’s gay. How is that different from gwen? It’s not representation unless she is certainly queer to the viewer. If that is representation though, why do we want it? What value does it actually give us, when we could just do our little headcannons for every character and say “he’s gay” “she’s trans” blah blah. Or is that representation too? If so, we have plenty of that already, so why are we asking for more?
@@spook6394 Well, I don't think we'll able to agree here. Because it looks like the representation you're looking for are characters who's main (only) character trait is them being queer, trans, gay, diverse, whatever. Because how could a character who's only characteristic is their identity not suck. What we need are more characters with interests, relationships, fears and hopes, etc. who are also queer. But you don't get that by putting their queerness on a pedestal and shine a spotlight on it!
@@XMaster340 what made you think that’s what I want? Do you look at obviously (or intuitively) queer people and think their only personality trait is being queer? Do you think anyone who tells you they’re queer is making being queer their whole personality?

Wow let’s all give Disney a round of applause for doing the bare minimum 🙄
Studios can do whatever they want, and can just completely ignore all of this diversity stuff. I don’t understand, why seeing someone like yourself on screen suddenly changes everything, and you suddenly feel “allowed” to be yourself and come out, compared to before the fictional content was released.
@ncard00 "take the verbal abuse" WHAT?!?! LMAO you thought you ate, but honey, abuse is abuse. We being killed, harassed, fired, discriminated against. You wouldn't say this to a person of color who lives in a racist neighborhood. Verbal threats can be terrifying, constant screaming and posters and media and shit completely tearing you down at every step takes a toll. Yeah, everyone drals with their own shit, and sometimes we do have to take the hard stuff and turn it around. But that doesn't mean just taking it. That doesn't mean being a door mat and letting people trudge filth on you because "Welp, it could be worse" no rational, empathetic human expects that. Be a safe space instead. Foster kindness and acceptance. Don't say "It could be worse" to Every Fucking Sutuation ™️ because yeah, it can always be worse. What it needs is to be better. Stop accepting the bare minimum.

It said first non binary character in Pixar, the owl house is by Disney
Lumity: Hi, I dont think we've met.
Wow Disney really cares about representation!
Now lets take a look at the owl house season 3.
A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, just like their appearance in the actual movie.
These character exist and the movies they're in usually fail because those characters are boring a.f. And of course they are.
