I've owned an MPC X for over 2 years, and watching this video is like discovering that your house not only has a basement, but that there's been a party going on and they've been waiting for you.
This is the best, most creative MPC related video I have seen on the internet. And I have seen an awful lot of them. Sadly most MPC users on youtube are using their MPCs the same way over and over - sample slices, drum samples, maybe some bass, done. That video is a proof that this things are powerful and versatile music instruments, and should be used creatively. I would love to see more videos about creative use of modern MPCs. Please keep them coming!
This is a re-upload of a previous video which i had to make some minor changes to. Don't hate! Nothing new here, although it is the best MPC video I've made in my opinion :)
@@philippebackprotips It's my favourite video and the best thing i discovered about the MPC - places it beyond the Octatrack IMO because it sounds better overall
@@TUBEDIGGA I want to try to emulate some of this but is will not be that easy. ruclips.net/video/eY-_dPFXijo/видео.html Still worth a try based on your insight!
Damn! Never thought of using the step sequencer for “audio destruction” like that. Perfect for some Squarepusher style junglism 🤖👍 I just got a MPC Live last week (have been using a MPC1000 since 2011) and your channel has made the transition much easier and more enjoyable. Big up yourself and keep on rinsin’ out breaks on the MPC!
I tried this to get that "Welcome to a higher state of consciousness" effect from Josh Wink's song of the same name. It got close to a "granulated" feel. BTW ... the menus choices you show have obviously changed with new upgrades. Anyway ... pretty cool. Thanks!
And + on LFO modulation page u have extra glitch effects when playing with the "velocity sensitivity" encoders ! It's simply mind-blowing game changer for the mpc ! No need of expensive midi audio vst effect's anymore! Yeah I'm happy
I still need to watch this video, but saw the thumbnail of this one and opened a new tab just to comment that "no YOU Tubedigga", are "the game changer in MPC technique"! It's also becoming more clear by the day (and even more productive nights) that I really can't see any way around it than to become a patron for the channel, which would make you 'my first' that I would do this with. XD
Check out this video, things are slightly different in the latest firmware but it’s essentially the same process: ruclips.net/video/c9ESHVBvpRA/видео.html
Man it's the best LFO you can have with this technique plus the other encoders u can use for getting LFO effects , i posted here before! Check it out mate it's mind-blowing
Brilliant. Truly incredible sample manipulation. Almost like a V-Synth. Could you do this with a Keygroup too?!?? If you could, could you not use this technique on say, a sampled synth patch or whatever and play it polyphonically??
Unfortunately keygroup programs don’t have the VEL-STA parameter - most likely because of the range of notes you can have in a keygroup program. 128 keygroups all with 4 sample layers spanning a range of 128 notes. If you were to hypothetically use a larger majority of those then the system would have a lot to deal with I imagine.
@@TUBEDIGGA ahhhh gotcha. Thanks for the quick response, and thank you for all the amazing content you've been providing. I'm gonna check out your webstore later today and maybe grab some Expansion packs.
yo mate :) thanks for this sick technique! is this possible to do with a 4 bar loop? for some reason I can't use this technique on a more than 1- bar loop
It can work for as many bars as you like (unless you want to use the preset automation shapes in the step sequencer, which only can be drawn over 1 bar) as long as you reduce all your note velocity levels to the lowest value. Then you can use the VEL>STA control/parameter to manipulate the start point but obviously in a freeform fashion without the preciseness of the preset curves.
@@TUBEDIGGA UGH...thats a shame. how about MIDI learn. im trying to get a Q-Link mapped to an encoder from my Digitakt. is THAT doable? id really like to get velocity start linked up to something I can hook an LFO up to. your vids are great by the way.
@@TRaddcliff If you can modulate the cc from the Digitakt with one of its own LFOs then yes. Go into midi learn on the MPC and set up a slot for vel>sta, activate LEARN then turn the knob on the Digitakt so the MPC receives the cc.

@@TUBEDIGGA so I got it working, but found that dropping the Ver down on all the triggers didn't have any affect. I had to set the Ver for each step a middle Ver, and then it werked. to bad we can't insert I micro Env in there to stop the pops of not hitting zero crossings.

Vel-str feature is missing in newer firmwares?
You find it under "modulation" in Program Edit mode, but it looks different than in this video.

I can't seem to find vel start anywhere on my mpc have they moved it or renamed it????
It’s on the modulation page of the drum program editor

Do you have reverb on the first part or is that just the sample? If you do have reverb which one are you using, it sounds amazing.
