Most people say they wouldn’t have a robot in their house after seeing this, but in reality, people are easily convinced. Look at mobile phones and Alexa. 25 years ago people would have said they’d never be tracked 24/7 and have their conversations listened too covertly or have their information harvested and shared without their knowledge. All it needs is a gimmick and people will lap it up.
Its inevitable just as the large switch from radio to tv, from analog phones to smartphones and either you can be one of the rare people who live in a house with no tv, computer, cellphone etc or just join in with the masses
Honestly though, cars are getting close to this. I got a new car recently and the “smart system” is super sensitive and goes off for seemingly no reason. First week I had the thing I was getting off a roundabout and the sensors suddenly started shrieking at me because I got slightly too close to the curb and it made me flinch pretty hard, but not enough to lose control just a slight jerk. For a moment there I thought a vehicle manifested out of nowhere that I was about to hit or something. The curb is really rounded though and nothing would have happened, I’ve cut way closer in the past. I found out it was just a certain side of the roundabout that set it off because the whole thing is slanted at a bit of an angle. Like, why did you make such urgent sounds that made it sound like I was about to have a serious accident. Seriously, this is why I prefer older cars 😅

Have y'all seen Big Fish? It may be Tim Burton's best movie that's basically his Forrest Gump about a man hearing his father's fantastical life (young him played by Ewan McGregor')'s story as he & his family prepare for his passing. Powerful flick
Isaac Asimov wrote a truly terrifying story, and the movie told it as it was, with a little emotion. "I, Robot" may be Will Smith's best movie performance, even though a lot of it was against a Green Screen.
This film was based on one facet of Asimov's writing. If you'd like to experience a more complete adaptation of his work check out Foundation, it is excellent example of well thought out sci-fi (imo)

If I saw a robot doing that when I wasn't expecting it to, I'd get so freaked out! Like a messed up version of Darwins little fish that crawled up on land Lol
Did you ever read his robot series starting with The Caves of Steel (1953) and ending with Robots and Empire (1985)? They're all great books and based off of his 3 laws of robotics. I did a book report on I, Robot in 8th grade (1983) and quickly devoured the other books as soon as I found them, except the last one, which I had to wait to be released before I could read it. X) Highly recommend them all if you've never read them. :)
Another great Sci-fi action movie about robotics technology is the 2009 film Surrogates starring Bruce Willis. Basically people are virtually living their daily lives through robots. Bruce Willis's character is a detective investigating the murder of a man who is the son of the person who invented the technology. It's a great movie!
Shia Lebouf is in the first couple of Transformers movies! Before that it was Holes and Even Stevens. He's in a great action "computers are trying to take over" kind of movie of his own called Eagle Eye. Really good.

So many things I love about this movie I personally think it’s super underrated I love just how much emotion went into this even though it’s more of a fun action packed ride. Few things I loved... 1. Spooner wasn’t wrong but he slowly realized his bias was pointing him towards the wrong robot and he has to accept sonny isn’t the bad guy. 2. They don’t reveal right away his dream we get to piece it all together and understand his hatred, robots no matter how new go off calculations vs emotions a person would’ve went for the child then spooner. 3. I like the doctor is a polar opposite of Will his guard is up while she’s more trusting of the robots which makes sense her job is to make them more human. 4. Sonny CARRIED I know it’s a robot but they did a great job letting his emotions show especially when will is questioning him and he gets mad, and when he understands V.I.K.I pov but he also knows it’s a heartless solution and it’s not right. 5. I gotta give it to V.I.K.I because I love the car chase scene with the robots and in that moment we see Spooner actually had a whole arm and shoulder repair. 6. The use of a childhood tale I think was simple but smart 7. I love the call back from spooner “Calvin’s fine save me” you also get to see the difference between sonny and the rest of the robots.
Cool reaction. For more somewhat similar Action Thriller movies I'd recommend "Enemy of the State" (1998) another Will Smith film and "Eagle Eye" (2008) starring Shia LaBeouf (who's also in I, Robot)

This is another movie proving that AI is a bad idea. 2001 and 2010 Space Odyssey movies from the 70s, Terminator movies from the 80s and 90s, and then this movie all explain exactly why we should not be creating AI.
In the end, even in this movie AI wasn't a "bad idea"... but it was implemented badly because humans in their greed and insecurity made sure of it. With just a little bit of self-awareness, AI could be the same way. If we'd just treat it with some respect in the first place, then the worst outcome would probably be that it ignores us.
Since you mention "I am Legend"(2007), this movie is a remake from 2 previous movies. There was "The Last Man on Earth"(1964), with Vincent Price, and "The Omega Man"(1971), with Charlton Heston.
The "last man on Earth" concept has been around a long time in films. Vincent Price starred in the B&W 1964 classic "The Last Man on Earth," followed by the 1971 film "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston, whom you saw in your "Planet of the Apes" watch.
Both of those films were relatively close tellings of the original science fiction story "I Am Legend." The Will Smith story changed the concept considerably. The human race had been replaced by the vampire-like "new people," but that last man killed them during their sleep. The last man became the "bogeyman" of the future horror stories they'd tell their children.

Unfortunately the movie here is not very well regarded by fans of the books. I think the movie is fun as a story but it is certainly not in keeping with the source material. I really would recommend that people read Asimov's work to understand how it's shaped our understanding of science fiction.
Real robots that are close to Sonny, is Kirobo. He’s not human sized, but he gives tours, dances, all kinda stuff. They were giving them away with Toyotas in Japan back in 2012 I believe. Kirobo was also the first robot in space
I loved reading Isaac Asimov's robot books growing up. He was so intelligent, insightful, and a great futurist. This movie is a wonderful adaptation of his stories into film. I'd love it if they'd turn his Robot series into a series of movies, but I doubt that will happen. You should read them if you have time; they are a wonderful read! Loved y'alls reaction to this! All your comments about never letting robots into your house had me LOL, and I feel the same way!! X) This was so much fun! Thanks for the joy!! :D
The movie in and of itself is very good. It has little to do with the collection of short stories contained in the book of the same title written by Isaac Asimov.
Will Smith. Great actor. He played in a lot of good movies. I'm a Legend, Man in Black, Enemy of the State, Independence Day, Hancock. Started in the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Love this SF action movie. Good one-liners in it from Will. Keep on going with your good reactions.

You guys should also watch the movie Defiance with Daniel Craig & Liev Schreiber. Ooh and Bruce Greenwood from the movie Double Jeopardy with Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee! Okay y’all gotta watch all of these mentioned!!
Asia I agree - never in this lifetime will i have a robot in my home. Trusting tech is a bad idea...Terminator movie told us that decades ago!! And just in case nobody said they love you today, I love you both😘
It makes so much sense the only the Dead Scientist would be able to estimate what the robot technology would do in the future so he built Sunny with special adaptations to fight the war .
You need to check out "Ordinary People" (1980). Intense drama, won many Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Great cast, music, writing. You won't be disappointed and your fans will love rediscovering this often forgotten classic.
When I was a youngin' in the late 80s before the internet, we used modems to connect our computer over the telephone lines. There were two main modem companies, Hayes and US Robotics. Everyone knew, if you wanted the best modem, go US Robotics. They were worth the higher price.

Have you guys seen Disturbia 2007
Unfortunately the movie here is not very well regarded by fans of the books. I think the movie is fun as a story but it is certainly not in keeping with the source material. I really would recommend that people read Asimov's work to understand how it's shaped our understanding of science fiction.
Real robots that are close to Sonny, is Kirobo. He’s not human sized, but he gives tours, dances, all kinda stuff. They were giving them away with Toyotas in Japan back in 2012 I believe. Kirobo was also the first robot in space
@Tessmage_Tessera I’ve seen it, don’t care much for them. Unless they’ve update since last I looked.
Top 5 Will Smith Movies IMO:
1.) Enemy of the State
2.) The Pursuit of Happyness
3.) i, Robot
4.) Independence Day
5.) King Richard
Bridget Moynahan the costar of the movie, was pregnant With Tom Brady's kid when he started dating Giselle. Always been a big fan of hers!
Even if you don't like will anymore, you gotta respect his work
Enemy of the State is great! I forgot Shia LaBeouf was in this movie!! He was good in the movie Lawless. Ooh and that’s Bridget Moynahan from Blue Bloods! You guys should also watch the movie Defiance with Daniel Craig & Liev Schreiber. Ooh and Bruce Greenwood from the movie Double Jeopardy with Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee! Okay y’all gotta watch all of these mentioned!!
Define ''Irony'': a commercial advertising AI in the midst of a reaction to this movie! Lol!
"how can i be of service"
Start with getting the hell outta my apartment lmao
Specifically speaking, the human looking machines are actually androids, the machine that destroyed Dr. Lannings house was a robot.
Hancock is a movie you might want to check out
I have those black Converse Will Smith wears in the movie. Converse released those shoes when the film came out. They're my favorite pair of Chucks.
Y’all gotta watch Animatrix: The Second Renaissance Part I & II. Same concept but darker….
Almost Human was a good show along the same vein as I, Robot.
Your lucky BJ i was about to question your maths skills when they mentioned the year 2035, but you corrected yourself, so you get a gold star 🌟
I personally prefer *"A I. Artificial Intelligence"* (2001) Directed By Steven Spielberg... people sleeping on it but it's actually pretty good
This is why I don’t like self driving cars in general
A good Shia Lebouf movie (besides Transformers of course) is Peanutbutter Falcon
You guys are a lot of fun to watch movies with. Please do Tron & Tron legacy someday please.
Yes, Asia, that's why we don't need Alexa lol. Nice reaction guys. This is a good movie. My favorite Will Smith film is Enemy Of The State (1998).
Shia Lebouf was good in Disturbia. Not sure if you have seen that one.
You need to check out "Ordinary People" (1980). Intense drama, won many Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Great cast, music, writing. You won't be disappointed and your fans will love rediscovering this often forgotten classic.
"And this is why we don't need a Lexus" Lol got to be the best thing said in any reaction ever. Love and peace you two.
"Alexa"
When I was a youngin' in the late 80s before the internet, we used modems to connect our computer over the telephone lines. There were two main modem companies, Hayes and US Robotics. Everyone knew, if you wanted the best modem, go US Robotics. They were worth the higher price.
It could be just that way! The next 11 years is full of...promise, and stuff...
He’s the one standing on the hill because he’s the first one to have sentience so he will be the leaders to the others that will develop the same functions as Sunny in time.
Awesome! I love when you do a flick that I know so I can spend time with you watching it. This will be fun! Thanks for all you do!
The real question is how often do the batteries in those robots go up in a fire that you can't put out, without special equipment.
Also how we didn't see any degenerates trying to kiss them xD You just know there's always somebody trying to do something that isn't in the instruction manual.
Yes it was a younger Shia LaBoaf in the movie.
You might like the Tom Hanks movie Greyhound and an older movie from the 1980s called TAPS. Or the old classic Westworld.
Imagine watching this when it came out, I thought know way this will ever happen! Now I'm like.. Did you watch Irobot!! Yep!
I love watching movies with you guys!
