To me, the greatest part of this movie is that when Kyle Reese was wondering what Sarah was thinking of at that exact moment the picture was taken. Turns out she was thinking of Kyle. Lovers lost beyond time.
She reveals to John through time-captured cellophane that Kyle is his dad. "Otherwise, you could never be." Plus, the fact that John knew this from the time he reviewed those tapes that Kyle was his dad, but he'd have to send hime to his death, alone and naked. One day, I hope we NEVER discover time-travel because everyone's shit would get all fucked up. It would make 2022 look like a carnival.
@@jjkhawaiian time travel exists, but it only displaces you in time, not in space. and earth is rotating at tremendous speed. plus it orbits the sun at tremendous speed. AND the sun rotates around the galaxy at an even faster speed, and the galaxy itself is hurtling through space towards the andromeda galaxy. so when you go back in time an hour, you end up dying in the vacuum of space, because, again, it only displaces you in time, not in space. to where the planet was, in the universe to where it is going is radically different when you factor in all these variables.
I prefer the terminator over T2. This movie is more gritty and has horror vibes. t2 is abunch of big money stunts and corny lines.. But I will agree stop after T2.
Kyle said that whenever he looked at the photo he thought Sarah looked sad, and he always wondered what she was thinking about at the time. Then we see the photo get taken at the end of the movie and we see that she was sad because she was thinking about him. It's my favourite part of the whole movie.
Yeah I first watched this at a really formative age about 13 & that was a great poignant ending including the little Mexican kid who says "There's a storm coming" pointing at the clouds & weather. Sarah says "I know" solemnly ...not talking about weather! This movie had the similar effect on me as The Matrix which inspired me to watch this one even though it was old.- they really had a powerful effect on me. Now I'm 32 & movies no longer thrill like they do when you're in your teens...which is a bummer. 😁
"I'll Be Back." The first time Arnold used his now signature phrase. ... ... ... Kyle used to wonder what Sarah was thinking about in that photo. At the end of the movie, when the photo was taken, she was thinking of him. The ending has been altered from the original theatrical release. In the original, when she drives towards the storm, the scene fades back to the Terminator, it's red eye lit.
That jump and yell at the lizard. 😄 I've always loved Sarah's character development. She went from care free innocent, to damsel in distress, to actively fighting. And most importantly, it all felt natural. The character didnt do over the top stuff that she shouldn't know how to do. And Arnold... The man knew how to pull off menacing. Then there is Michael Biehn. The guy did so much in the 80s and 90s. Very underrated.
I love Sarah Connor, she is such a great main character. Movies today show female heroes as magical beings who can do no wrong, and one is more boring than the next (because they can have no real development, if they already start out perfect). Sarah is a waitress who has her day ruined by a ball of ice cream, but she gets thrown into this impossible situation and learns to rise to the occasion. THAT is a character that the audience can sympathize with.
And in the sequel, she knew what would happen and trained to be ready for it. Even if she was thrown in a hospital for mental patients, she never let her target out of the sight.
The only goid and decent and compassionate heroine in comic books is Dianna-wonder woman who was based on strong and caring women of Greek Mythology...just think "SPARTAN WOMEN"!
@@elenavonpavel-pitts3442 She's not compassionate in the movies, though. In WW84, she happily trapped a random guy inside his own body, so she could make out with her ex
@@Anthyrion And she knew for a fact that they would be back someday...Still, she basically pisses her pants when she's suddenly face to face to another terminator -which is realistic as well.
You'll want to see the sequel, T2, for sure. "The Terminator" was low budget (only $6.4m), but a great story. No real CGI back then, of course. I'd say his best film is "True Lies." You guys will love it. :) A few years before "The Terminator," we had the movie "Alien." I hope you're going to cover it. It was a very influential film. And it has a sequel, "Aliens."
T2 is typically said to be better but it's different so better might not be the right way to look at it. True Lies is a great film. Nothing like having humor piled onto tension! Alien and Aliens, yeah, some really bad a$$ery going on with those two. Both stand alone in greatness. Great reaction / review y'all. Be safe
@@ronb8500 You know, I wondered about that, but remembered wrong. I should have checked the dates. You're right, of course. "Conan" came before "The Terminator."
@@ronb8500 I always felt it was a box office mediocre pull and Arnold was still not speaking English well that some of it was obviously dubbed in. But, it's fame became and instant cult classic for fantasy and comic book hero movies. It was R-Rated and very occultic and pre-medieval warfare, so you lost families and most ladies, unless they're with their boyfriend/spouse or like those kinds of movies. I liked both Conan movies. But, nothing comes close to the Terminator series. I'd place Predator above Conan, too, but that's a close second.
"Never a dull moment" is right, this movie works as a sci-fi thriller, as an action movie, as a zombie horror movie, as a dark romance with themes of fate and loss and choice... it's just SO GOOD. The amount of care and detail that went into this is pretty extraordinary to read about (and their early thoughts on casting the Terminator are well worth looking up, trust me.) I think my favorite detail is that Arnold modeled the Terminator's gaze on security cameras. Every time he looks at something, his eyes rotate, lock on, and then his head swivels to match his gaze so he never loses the target. It's so subtle but drives home the robotic deliberateness he does so well.
My favourite detail is when you see the Endoskeleton from behind its shoulder blades are moving. That must have been really difficult to animate but they did it anyway, they were so great at their art.
Your reactions were the best part of this review. The jump scares and the screams. Asia's hands covering her face and BJ's "llllllllllllllllllook." when he saw something cool. It was all just too much. Great reaction guys. This was EXACTLY what seeing it in the theater in 1984 was like.
OH HELL YES!!! THE movie that changed sci-fi forever ☝️😁. This is a classic & even the sequel was just as good 👍😄 “I’LL BE BACK!” just isn’t the same unless it’s big Arnie saying it ✌️😎
@@ReelinwithAsiaandBJ … Mom & Dad… RIGHT BACK AT YA ❤️🤗❤️. It’s a movie I could NEVER tire of watching & I just finished watching your animal park Vlog too which I loved ✊️😄👍
I'd say this one and Alien changed Sci fi. Those two Sci fi thrillers gave us the new genre of Sci fi action like Terminator 2, Aliens, Stormship Troopers, Robocop, Total Recall, etc.
I saw this in the theatre with my best friend. 15 years later we saw "The Matrix" together too. Both movies were genre defining and awesome experiences.
"There literally has not been one dull moment in this movie." Exactly! lol Your reactions encapsulate why this film holds up so well almost 40 years later. Everyone involved, starting with James Cameron, really put their hearts into this film. The main 3 actors Schwarzenegger, Hamilton, and Biehn as T-800, Sarah, and Kyle were exceptional and even the minor characters like Sarah's friends and the cops and the psychiatrist felt completely real and lived in. You saw how Schwarzenegger walked like a robot/cyborg early on before knowing he was one, then realized he looked more robotic in appearance right after he got burned. The movie cleverly and slowly reveals his robotic nature as the movie wears on. It's fast paced action, yet somehow manages to give important plot details and exposition that doesn't slow the film. Not once did it feel like this film cheated or skimped on the viewer. And it was a very low budget of only 6 million dollars, which was peanuts even way back then. Low budget, high execution. EDIT: I'm going to be the dissenting vote and say that I don't think T2 is better than this. It is what it is, but I've always preferred T1. I had problems with T2, but had no such issues with T1.
Oh, without a doubt the original is best. T2 is a lot of fun, but is also a distinctly "Hollywood" film. The humor is less natural, as exemplified by the obvious use of one-liners. It was also a poor choice to make the Terminator "loveable".
This couple is adorable. I loved watching this movie with them, because I have seen it so many times, but it was like showing it to friends who have never seen it..
This is one of the best reactions to Terminator I’ve seen, you guys would love T2! You’d also probably enjoy Alien and Aliens (Aliens is directed by James Cameron who did the Terminator movies and features the actor who played Kyle Reese) ✌️
And the actor who played the street thug at the telephone booth is in both as well. He plays Hudson and has a few lines that became super famous phrases, the most iconic one I think being "Nuke 'em from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."
@@patrickbarnes9874 I think you've mixed up the characters. Michael Biehn - the guy who played Reese in Terminator said "Nuke 'em from orbit..." as a way of backing up Ripley after she suggested it first. Bill Paxton's ie 'Hudson's' meme classic was "Game over man, game over!"
It's great that young people today can still watch 'important' films from the past and get why they were so popular. Obviously there is 'baggage' associated with many of these films that come in the form of prequels and sequels which aren't a secret, but It's good to understand the source material so one can make up their own minds about the value of media that follows the originals.
I was born in 84. Such an iconic year: this movie, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles debuted, the George Orwell book, Dune, Gremlins, Transformers cartoon, the Van Halen album "1984", Prince's Purple Rain, the game "Tetris" released... the list goes on and on! ...and of course... me 😂
This was one of the best reactions to T1 that I've seen. The comments were on point, the scared laughter, the joshing with each other. You are totally comfortable with the camera and able to be your charming selves. Next up is T2. BTW, 'True Lies' shows Arnies action/comedy ability at its best.
Raw, brutal, & unflinching. Tight story telling and incredible pacing. The soundtrack ads to that sense of panic & dread. The love story with the twist ending is also compelling. The best Terminator movie in my book.
My mom would go on buyer trips for her store on the weekends with her bestie, and my Dad would take me to Blockbuster for Arnold movies. Commando, Terminator, Predator, Red Heat, etc....we loved these movies and made caramel popcorn and bonded. I was only 12-14, and now I'm 47. Still no movies like 80's movies.
The 80's was all about action, sex scenes, stye, music, cool one liners, gore, violence... Studios often pursued at least an MA or R rating and the video box and movie posters wore it like a badge of honour. All the kids at school would brag about all the stuff they got to see over the weekend like Terminator, Predator, Robocop, Cyborg, Conan, Mad Max, Aliens, Rambo etc. I remember going around to my friend's house for play time and his mum had let him rent out this absolute pile of filth. One minute there were boobies everywhere and the next, people were getting limbs chopped off left, right and centre. My mum then picked me up and asked what we got up to LOL. It is kind of the opposite direction that films are going in these days. They're all chasing family friendly ratings and cutting out all of the visceral, exciting and realistic stuff. Don't get me wrong though, there are great movies of all kinds of genres from this era - but these were the ones the boys used to boast about seeing the most. People went nuts over horror too. I really pity the kids these days, as all they seem to have to watch is reruns of PG rated Marvel films that Disney churns out. Its like they're tapped out of imagination. The 80s was a really cool time to be growing up - so much happening on top of a backdrop of war and famine in a lot of places and the cold war. The Japanese were on the ascendancy and buying up everything, and this plays out in a lot of futuristic stuff like Blade Runner, Back to the Future 2 and Robocop. One thing I notice with younger audiences is that they often don't get the context of the time or the background themes and messages that some of the films are putting out. I often forget how many movies from the 80s stood the test of time and are there for another generation to discover.
Mr D: [Edited] And studios weren't afraid to try out stuff and give talented writers and directors a chance. And mixing genres was fairly usual. Like The Terminator was sci fi horror, the same as Alien/Aliens. But, it's so cool to see Michael Myers in the character of The Terminator. Even the part where he burned after the truck was blown up was almost exactly like Myers stumbling, falling, and burning at the end of Halloween II. So fun to see that reference as a Halloween nerd. Carpenter did the right thing using Myers as one of the templates for the villain. haha
Full respect to this comment. I was born in the mid 80s, and watched all the classics in the early to mid 90s. My parents were absolute legends for letting me watch all the things that they probably shouldn't have lol
Even the game industry is doing the same thing. Just look at Tomb Raider games every game since the original her bust has gotten smaller. Its just like the game Terminator Resistance, that was a great game and they put in two optional sex cut scenes in that was very Terminator like and felt like it was heavily inspired style wise from this movie. But the developers were told last minute to censor the cut scenes. Its sad cause I do not believe we will ever go back to those days where movies sought the R rating and games sought the sex appeal. Too many people ignorantly think you cant have nudity or sex and do it tastefully. All one has to do is look at this movie there was nudity but it went with the story and tied everything up with a nice bow. It wasnt thrown in just for the sake of having it.
"He Gonna Terminate!!!!" ^ that should have been on the rental movie poster back in the day Wow guys, my 2nd movie with you and was SO much fun, damn, wonderful reactions Thank you!
Arnold was in a few movies before this, most notably Conan The Barbarian(1982), but this is the movie that solidified him as a movie star, then came Red Sonja(1985), Commando (1985), Raw Deal (1986), The Running Man (1987), Predator (1987), and Red Heat (1988), Twins(1988) and etc etc, the rest is history 😂 and there’s actually 6 Terminator movies - The Terminator, T2: Judgment Day, T3: Rise Of The Machines, Terminator: Salvation, Terminator: Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate
His first movie is actually the documentary pumping iron, men in pursuit of the mr Olympia title! It was Arnold and Lou Ferrigno who went on to play the incredible Hulk in an 80s tv show
@@j.frankparnell I believe only Lou played the green-eyed monster from the pilot to the last show. They did a TV movie, too, I think. It was basically a longer viewing of a show. I think audiences were wanting super-hero movies at that time. There was Superman and the first Batman movies. Until the first Spiderman in the 90s, those were the only two mega production franchise features. Sure, they had TV shows and made for TV stuff, but not big promo type content.
You can see that the studio was introducing Arnold to Hollywood audiences gradually - selecting roles where his accent and lack of acting experience wouldn't detract from the movie.
@@Escapee5931 Actually Arnold was supposed to play Kyle Reese originally. But as pre production went on Arnold really thought he would shine as the Terminator and Kames Cameron agreed and they decided to make him the T-800 instead.
The fact that y’all have never seen these movies that I grew up with gives me a greater appreciation for the movie. I’m a bit biased because I have seen it so often. Y’all’s reactions are great
One of the best blind reactions of both of you to Terminator I've seen. I especially liked how Asia kept saying she couldn't look and start to cover her eyes, but never actually quite lost eye contact and couldn't look away. haha You definitely need to watch Terminator 2 & 3.
This film and the next, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is really the complete arc if the story, both directed and written by James Cameron. The rest of the Terminator movies are just franchise bs trying to sell popcorn. But DEFINITELY watch the next one. It's terrific
"The Terminator" is one of the all-time greats. It's a masterclass in filmmaking, showing you what can be done with a small budget and a whole lot of passion. The only sequel worth watching is "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" (1991). The rest of the Terminator films are garbage. Also if you want to watch another masterpiece from the 80s with amazing special effects then you need to watch John Carpenter's "The Thing" (1982). One of the greatest horror movies ever made.
I couldn't believe you two hadn't watched this movie before, but seeing your reactions showed that you hadn't. You guys were so much fun to watch as you reacted to different scenes; it made the movie, which I've seen countless times, even more enjoyable. Thank you both for sharing--you two are the bomb!
Great choice! Really looking forward to it. There's almost universal agreement that Terminator 2 is the best movie of this franchise, but it wouldn't make any sense without first watching Terminator "1". You guys are really smart, so your followers I'm sure are resting assured that you will include Terminator 2 in your lineup. : -)
Def almost Bc I Love The first Terminator movie more than 2. It was grittier and had that 80’s vibe on 11. I’m also a fan of Alien over Aliens so I’m that guy.
Agree with the last two comments that I prefer Terminator 1 to the sequel (even tho the sequel is still good). I find the sequel to be a little more of a family movie trying to appeal to all audiences, kind of a big blockbuster popcorn movie with some cheesy one liners and tropes, whereas the first was more original and smarter in my opinion. T1 is one of a handful of movies I could throw on anytime, anywhere and it just makes me happy (even tho it's dark and a horror if that makes sense lol)
Terminator 2 had revolutionary special effects, but the screenplay for Terminator 1 is untouchable. So it just depends what you like in movies (I strongly prefer the original).
My favourite scene is when Schwarzenegger's character gets into the cab of the lorry and says to the driver's mate "Get out ", the actor playing the driver's mate his reaction is so funny yet convincing, of course he wasn't going to argue with something with a half robot face.
The Terminator is fantastic, as is the sequel, T2. But if Asia's like this with terminator, I can't wait to see if y'all make it to the Aliens series, Predator, Event Horizon, and so on. Great stuff!! Keep doing what you do!!😀
@@meadmaker4525 I just thought of two others to screw with Asia. Nightmare on Elm Street and Candyman. Two of five movies that messed me up for years. I will slap the taste out of someone's mouth before they can say Candyman three times.
Regarding an the budget you realize: Holy moly..this is a stunning movie. State of the art then, storytelling and suspense factor is fantastic. We all could see it in your reaction. Pure fun.
John Connor sends Kyle back in time to save Sarah from the terminator. Kyle fathers John who sends Kyle back in time to save Sarah....... . A bit of a paradox.
Great love story. Warms your heart to know that when he had the picture of her he was wondering what she was thinking about and she was thinking about him. They’re thinking about each other across time. What a masterpiece.
I feel like I'm spamming your comment section LOL . But another fun fact about this movie is, Sarah Conner's room mate was famous aerobic instructor Bess Motta. She used to have her own Public Access Cable Aerobic exercise show
Hands down, probably my favorite reaction by you two. Asia had it figured out quick who John's father was, and both of you had me laughing the whole time. It was really fun.
💯 agree. James Cameron’s Special Editions always explain things that don’t need to be explained. Makes the stories drag and kills tension by answering a viewer’s questions too early.
@@andreadeamon6419 It's cool as a second watch or as extras on a DVD but it ruins the tension, especially the extended ending which isn't needed. The original ominous ending is better IMO. But hey let's not argue too much because we'll end up giving away spoilers. Both versions are good, but one is superior, is all I'm saying😁
Two things, one, who else was 'waiting for it' when they kept saying, 'She's with the cops, she's fine. They got 30 or so cops there, it's ok.' And two, b/c of this movie, I do fully believe Sky Net is gonna happen. Look at the world now and what we can do with technology. Hell! Even our phones! The Machines will take over in the future.
Like everyone has said, the sequel is incredible!!! Although I really love the original. It scared the shit out of me when I was a kid but I loved it!!!
I'm a 90s baby so I remember my uncle put me on this movie for the first time and I was just utterly surprised of how much action it was in this movie and don't get me started on t2 absolutely amazing keep the throwbacks coming
The really gorgeous thing about the love story in this is that he fell in love with her looking at a picture where she was talking about how much she loved him...
Couple crossover points for you guys from this one. Ginger's boyfriend was Rick Rossovich, who perfectly played Slider in the first Top Gun. Reese in this movie, played by Michael Biehn, played Johnny Ringo from Tombstone, 2 movies I know you enjoyed. Can't wait to catch up on your reaction to T2!
The reason Kyle was able to fall in love with Sarah wasn’t just the photo but because John knowing Kyle was his father talked to Kyle about Sarah. So Kyle got to know Sarah through John but never knew John was his son. In 1984 my late brother and I saw this twice at the cinema we loved it so much. Its great reliving some of these classics through reaction video’s. You guys are fun!
Thanks guys, can't tell you how much I enjoyed that! I was a teen when this came out, it was a HUGE hit, that had massive significance. No kidding, only yesterday, nrly 40 yrs later, I pulled up after giving my son a lift, and said to him in my Arnold voice as usual, 'Get Out...' They have no idea what I'm on about!
I consider this a perfect movie. Also AWESOME: 'T2', 'Alien', 'Aliens', 'Predator' and 'RoboCop'. All must-sees. Oh yeah, and 'The Road Warrior'!! Mind-blowing action.
You really need to watch Terminator 2 now so you can learn about John Connor and Sarah Connor! There are some really cool surprises! The first Terminator movie came out when I was a senior in high school! Asia you better bring your blanket again for the next Terminator movie! Have fun! It was fun watching you two scared out of your mind! Thank you two for your hard work!
"Close the door!...close the door!...close the door!...." You two are hilarious. "Terminator II" with Arnold again will surprise you. Wear seat belts & a helmet. The fellow who played Kyle (Michael Biehn) at that time also played a similar role in Aliens II (1979) with Sigourney Weaver. Another film where he played opposite a hero woman & supported her.
You guys are so much fun, you add immeasurably to the movie and bring it back to life, even though I've seen it a few times. I think you could both be in your own movie; I'd certainly pay for a ticket.
Before Schwarzenegger was cast as the titular cyborg, OJ Simpson was considered but James Cameron changed his mind saying, "He's too much of a nice guy to play the role of a ruthless killer." 😳🤦 Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, Lance Henriksen and Tom Selleck were also considered as well. Bruce Springsteen, Michael O'Keefe, Kurt Russell, Sting, Treat Williams, Christopher Reeve, Matt Dillon and Scott Glenn were considered Kyle Reese. Lisa Langolis, Jennifer Jason Leigh Jessica Harper Melissa Sue Anderson Rosanna Arquette and Lea Thompson were considered for Sarah Connor.
Outstanding reaction. It's obvious that the two of you are genuinely nice people and it's a pleasure to watch your reactions. I'm sure that you're receiving lots of suggestions for movies to watch but if you want to see another movie that has no similarity in story to 'The Terminator' but it is similar in that it will keep you on the edge of your seat in suspense and maybe have a few unexpected suprises then I highly recommend watching 'Alien' from 1979.
A few things. First, LOVED the reaction. Asia trying to hide from it was awesome! Second, Arnold put bodybuilding on the map, singlehandedly. He won Mr. Olympia (I believe it was) 7 times. His first movies, they dubbed his voice. Crazy. Lastly, I don't know if you saw it yet (I hope you react to it soon.) in "Top Gun" the guy who flew with Vla Kilmer, was the guy that Arnold killed at Sarah's apartment. Her roommate's boyfriend. Love you guys! Keep it up!
I love you two! I am a cinephile and love seeing your reactions to movies that I've seen many time but you haven't. I relive my first experience watching the movie through your eyes. So much fun. Thank you!
Fun Fact for you BJ and Asia: Michael Biehn who played Kyle Reese, Bill Paxton who played one of the punks the terminator killed in the opening scenes of the movie and Lance Henrikson who played the white police detective all costarred together in "Aliens" as the Colonial Space Marines Hicks, Hudson and Bishop respectively Bill Paxton also had a cameo appearance in "Commando" and costars in "True Lies" as well as appearing in Predator 2
A bonafide classic. I love this movie. It's an action film, a si-fi film, and a horror film, all in one. And yes, Arnold was Mr. Olympia, seven times! There are actually six movies in this franchise, but honestly, they should have stopped after T2. The first Terminator is great, but the second is one of the greatest films ever made. So the movies after that one could never recapture that magic. Especially since the director of 1 & 2 didn't direct the rest of them. Keep watching these classics. Loving the reactions. You two are on a roll.
That was fun watching you guys react to this. If you like action though, wait until T2 where James Cameron had a $100,000,000 budget as opposed to only $6,000,000 for this film. BTW, JC intended this to be more of a horror film with an unstoppable villain.
This video was so much fun! It’s always strange to me to see people who haven’t watched these before but I enjoy it so much. I know the movies inside and out but I can kinda relive those moments through this! You guys are great! There’s a lot of Terminator films now, while the later ones are questionable quality I still enjoy them all regardless!! New subscriber here. ❤
Guys, you actually made this movie even MORE FUN than when I first saw it! I have not yet joined anyone's Patreon, but I just might have to join yours! And just WAIT til you see Terminator 2!!! Personally, I won't say it's better, because I love this first one so much, but it IS EVERY bit as good as this one! It's one of the very best sequels I've ever seen, of any film genre. Thanks for a fun time, you two! 😎💞✌
I'm imagining watching a horror movie with Asia in the audience. I would just hear this cackling coming from somewhere in the theater during the scary parts. haha. :)
Great reaction, y'all! And I definitely recommend "Terminator 2" for a future reaction. Some people like T1 better, some like T2 better - there's no right answer, it's all just personal opinions - but I think 99.9% of people will agree that T2 is one of the rare times in Hollywood when a sequel totally lives up to (and, for many, surpasses) the original. Personally, I love them both and what's great about them is that, taken together, they tell a complete story. All the "Terminator" movies that came after T2 are cash-in attempts that have to do all kinda crazy things (like change timelines, retcon characters, etc) to try to make themselves make sense because they're unnecessary add-ons that don't really fit into the story. I'm sure there are people who like them and you could always take them as "alternate timelines" or whatever if you really wanted to watch them but, honestly, they're not as good and sort of dilute the completeness of T1 and T2, imo. So, yeah, my recommendation is definitely watch "Terminator 2" and then be done with the "Terminator" series. Maybe move on to "Alien" and "Aliens" after that...?
When you two say it took you awhile before you understood what was happening- that was by design. That’s part of the movie viewing pleasure is being kept in the dark. Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm so pleased that your generation is watching these iconic films from 40 years ago. Thank you. (Even if you did laugh your head off all the way through ! Lol)
The cop played Bishop the android in Aliens ... And the blue haired guy the terminator stole cloths from played Hudson in Aliens ... And the protector (Reese) played Hicks in Aliens
25:53 "God DAMN!" one of the best lines in The Terminator Series! Oh by the way, when you react to Terminator 2 make sure you watch the extended director's cut version of T2. It's MUCH better than the Theatrical cut.
This was a great reaction. Terminator and Terminator 2 are the only Terminator movies to me. They are masterpieces and the rest are sub par. Watch the theatrical version of T2. Don't listen to anyone telling you to watch the extended version or the director's cut. Theatrical version should be your first watch.
Wow! I loved your reactions to this, but I didn't realise the world had got so fast. Asia wanted all the answers right from the get go! 😆 You have to learn to let the story unfold Asia. You got all your questions answered 5 minutes after you asked them!! 🤣🤣 Still love you both ❤
My favourite part, and a sad fact, it´s when Kyle said that he always wondered what Sarah was thinking at that moment of the picture. And she was thinking of Kyle during that tape record. Lovers across time....
As great as this movie is, the best thing it does is set the foundation for one of the greatest sequels ever made. Terminator 2 is a must. It will blow your mind even more. Cheers guys from one of your Aussie friends. Keep up the great reactions. ❤️
The two of you are enjoyable and entertaining to watch. There's something so satisfying and nostalgic about watching you watch movies I've seen a million times
😀😂😂 loved it when Asia was cracking up everytime the terminator kept going. Lol. You gotta see the next one T2. You have to. 👍🏽 Nice job and fun watching with you both Asia and BJ.
18:46 one of the biggest glaring plot holes of this entire franchise…especially considering a scene we see in number 2 (which I know you’ve seen as I type this) But by all that’s holy…do they expect us to believe that in ANY number, terminator would go “oh shit, the cops” and run away?!?!?
Great reaction to an excellent low-budget movie. This was one of James Cameron's first movies, so the studio didn't give him much of a budget to work with, which was among the reasons why the special effects and music were also done on a shoestring budget. And yep...as I understand it, even for 1984 the sound effects and special effects were obviously low-budget...but the audiences fell in love with the storytelling and the great writing. So, after the surprising commercial success of this movie, James Cameron basically commanded more of a budget for his following movies. 'Terminator 2' (T2) from 1991 was a big-budget movie with top-notch special effects at that time, along with a better musical score. Btw, Linda Hamilton who plays 'Sarah Connor' was married to director/producer James Cameron. Anyway, you should definitely check out Terminator 2 (1991).

Yeah, for what is effectively a Futuristic Zombie, Sci-Fi/ Horror movie, it sure does end on a touching, romantic, heartfelt moment.
If you guys liked this movie, you're gonna LOVE Terminator 2, an even better movie than the first, and one of the best sequels ever made!
Better special effects
Great film, obviously. Better? na
Both were great, but I recommend stopping there.
I prefer the terminator over T2. This movie is more gritty and has horror vibes. t2 is abunch of big money stunts and corny lines..
But I will agree stop after T2.
@@josephamoraz7990 T3 is watchable, but in no way anywhere near the first 2 movies. Beyond T3, you're just wasting your time.
"I'll Be Back."
The first time Arnold used his now signature phrase.
...
...
I've always loved Sarah's character development.
He got the role of Hicks because of Terminator. He wasn't the original Hicks- he was a replacement.
And, empathize with
And in the sequel, she knew what would happen and trained to be ready for it. Even if she was thrown in a hospital for mental patients, she never let her target out of the sight.
The only goid and decent and compassionate heroine in comic books is Dianna-wonder woman who was based on strong and caring women of Greek Mythology...just think "SPARTAN WOMEN"!

A few years before "The Terminator," we had the movie "Alien." I hope you're going to cover it.
Be safe
Aliens
Sorry but the 2 Conan movies are popular and made good money and they came out before this,
@@ronb8500 You know, I wondered about that, but remembered wrong.
Asia: "He walks like a robot" Everyone that saw this before: "Honey, you don't know how right you are"
"Never a dull moment" is right, this movie works as a sci-fi thriller, as an action movie, as a zombie horror movie, as a dark romance with themes of fate and loss and choice... it's just SO GOOD.
My favorite type of movies!
It's more like a slasher horror than a zombie horror.
Your reactions were the best part of this review. The jump scares and the screams. Asia's hands covering her face and BJ's "llllllllllllllllllook." when he saw something cool. It was all just too much.
Great reaction guys. This was EXACTLY what seeing it in the theater in 1984 was like.
ROFL. The way Asia's eyes went real wide when a naked Arnold stood up. Made my day, girl.
I was waiting for the dong shot reaction.

@ 21:48 This is why the phrase "I'll be back" became iconic! 😁
OH HELL YES!!! THE movie that changed sci-fi forever ☝️😁. This is a classic & even the sequel was just as good 👍😄 “I’LL BE BACK!” just isn’t the same unless it’s big Arnie saying it ✌️😎

Unless you ask my kids😅

In case you did not know. Michael Biehn { Kyle Reese} is also Johny Ringo in Tombstone .
What I learned from this episode of Reelin' With Asia & BJ:
BJ can say the word "LOOK" 30 times in
a row in 5 seconds or less. 🤣👏👏👏
Carpenter did the right thing using Myers as one of the templates for the villain. haha
THOSE , were the good ol' days of the 80's. Im glad I got a chance to be a kid in the 80's :)
Now they're pushing all this "woke" crap! 🤢🤮
“ he really gonna be back … he just needed to figure out how he was going to get to that glass” I was rolling !!😂😂😂😂

Arnold was in a few movies before this, most notably Conan The Barbarian(1982), but this is the movie that solidified him as a movie star, then came Red Sonja(1985), Commando (1985), Raw Deal (1986), The Running Man (1987), Predator (1987), and Red Heat (1988), Twins(1988) and etc etc, the rest is history 😂
and there’s actually 6 Terminator movies - The Terminator, T2: Judgment Day, T3: Rise Of The Machines, Terminator: Salvation, Terminator: Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate
You gotta mention Total Recall(1990) and Kindergarten Cop(1990) and True Lies(1994). Those are all his classics.

This film and the next, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is really the complete arc if the story, both directed and written by James Cameron. The rest of the Terminator movies are just franchise bs trying to sell popcorn. But DEFINITELY watch the next one. It's terrific
@@SavvyNinja , it's not bad., but it's wholly unnecessary. It just feels like a product, like a soda adding a flavor like Cherry Coke or something.
"The Terminator" is one of the all-time greats. It's a masterclass in filmmaking, showing you what can be done with a small budget and a whole lot of passion. The only sequel worth watching is "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" (1991). The rest of the Terminator films are garbage. Terminator 2
This one is great. Part 2 is almost a family film and not as good IMO. Then they really get stupid after that one.
Yeah it's super subtle comic relief in a serious situation. Chef's kiss movie making right there.

You guys are so much fun to watch! Please do Terminator 2 next but the theatrical cut (it's better than the special edition).
💯 agree. James Cameron’s Special Editions always explain things that don’t need to be explained. Makes the stories drag and kills tension by answering a viewer’s questions too early.
Nah. All the twins, the smile and removing the chip gives it something special
@@andreadeamon6419 It's cool as a second watch or as extras on a DVD but it ruins the tension, especially the extended ending which isn't needed. The original ominous ending is better IMO.

Arnold was "Mr Europe" for a couple years, then "Mr Universe" for like 3 years, then "Mr Olympia" for 6 consecutive years. A true legend.
The 4 beat sound when the Terminator appears is his heart beat, which beats in a 4 beat rhythm.
Before Schwarzenegger was cast as the titular cyborg, OJ Simpson was considered but James Cameron changed his mind saying, "He's too much of a nice guy to play the role of a ruthless killer." 😳🤦
Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, Lance Henriksen and Tom Selleck were also considered as well.
Bruce Springsteen, Michael O'Keefe, Kurt Russell, Sting, Treat Williams, Christopher Reeve, Matt Dillon and Scott Glenn were considered Kyle Reese.

Keep it up!
Lou Ferrigno did it before Arnold

Thank you!
Fun Fact for you BJ and Asia:
Michael Biehn who played Kyle Reese, Bill Paxton who played one of the punks the terminator killed in the opening scenes of the movie and Lance Henrikson who played the white police detective all costarred together in "Aliens" as the Colonial Space Marines Hicks, Hudson and Bishop respectively
Bill Paxton also had a cameo appearance in "Commando" and costars in "True Lies" as well as appearing in Predator 2
🎉🎉🎉 I think this was my favorite reaction to this movie. 😂😂😂👍🏼👍🏼 You guys are so much fun! 😘
Thanks ❤️❤️
This video was so much fun! It’s always strange to me to see people who haven’t watched these before but I enjoy it so much. I know the movies inside and out but I can kinda relive those moments through this! You guys are great! There’s a lot of Terminator films now, while the later ones are questionable quality I still enjoy them all regardless!! New subscriber here. ❤
Hey, Thanks Serena!!! Welcome In, glad you’re watching with us! We appreciate your kind words & sub!!
You guys are so hilarious. My question is: How Did You Miss All These Movies Growing Up?!
Even if they haven't seen it, they would at least know vaguely what the movie is about and what a terminator is.
It's like doing a reaction to The Passion of the Christ and pretending that you don't know who Jesus is
Guys, you actually made this movie even MORE FUN than when I first saw it! 😎💞✌
Aye ❤️❤️ Thanks Michael! Think you’d like the full movie reactions in Patreon, but glad you’re watching with us either way
I'm imagining watching a horror movie with Asia in the audience.
Your scary movie reactions are priceless and so entertaining, especially those "Aliens" movies lol
When you two say it took you awhile before you understood what was happening- that was by design. That’s part of the movie viewing pleasure is being kept in the dark. Glad you enjoyed it.
I sure did enjoy watching the two of you watching this. Handling fear with laughter. I look forward to more.
Thanks ❤️❤️
The same actor who played Reese played Johny Ringo in Tombstone.
This is my favorite movie. Watched this 100 times since it came out.
This was a great reaction. Terminator and Terminator 2 are the only Terminator movies to me. They are masterpieces and the rest are sub par.
Watch the theatrical version of T2. Don't listen to anyone telling you to watch the extended version or the director's cut. Theatrical version should be your first watch.
directors cut and theatrical are the same version
@@flexydex8754 whichever one has the deleted scenes and the alternate ending. Whatever that one is called. Don't watch that one.
Thanks James, much love! 🍿
18:46 one of the biggest glaring plot holes of this entire franchise…especially considering a scene we see in number 2 (which I know you’ve seen as I type this)
But by all that’s holy…do they expect us to believe that in ANY number, terminator would go “oh shit, the cops” and run away?!?!?
This is one of my favorite films along with The Thing 1982 and Perfect Blue 1997. I'm glad you two got to experience it.
