    I kind of wish Kristen had seen the first Terminator beforehand. There are two major subversions in the sequel (Linda Hamilton being jacked, and Arnold being a good guy) that don't really register otherwise.
    Edit: Maybe the viewing would've also been more engaging if you'd see the first one beforehand. It felt like at a certain point pretty early on you both decided to disconnect from this movie, perhaps under the assumption that it wasn't going to make sense anyway.

      Yeah seeing Linda character going to an every day “normal woman” to a military “crazy person” and the terminator being the bad guy in the first one when everyone assumes he’s the hero. The first time Linda See’s Arnold and is so scared and then he says “come with me if you wanna live. Very powerful.

      There are many callbacks and references in T2 for T1 and you enjoy it more if you have seen T1. But Achara nipped it in the bud by saying T2 is better. Which i dont agree with because both need to be watched back to back.

    You should have just watched the first one first. It's a lot more fun expecting Arnold to be a badguy and then being surprised by the change up. Plus, the moment when Sarah sees Arnold for the first time, coming out the elevator takes on a whole new meaning when you watch them in order.

    I'm wholeheartedly against this for Kristen. At the end of the day, Terminator 1 and 2 are really Sarah's story. Part of that is the growth from being the damsel in part 1 to almost becoming a terminator herself to protect her son. Sarah in this movie means far less without seeing what she went through to end up here.

For example, Arnie gives the full rundown of how Dyson started all the research and later, when Sarah goes to kill him, they're like "How do they know about Dyson?" Also, Kristen kept talking about aliens and that they're from a different planet when Sarah explained everything in the opening monologue.

    There is one thing you miss by not watching T1 first. You would immediately think Arnold is the bad guy because of the the first movie and it throws you that he isn't the first time you watch this. The hand and the chip aren't prototypes - they were pilfered from the scene of the first terminator when it was "destroyed" and were being used for research. The problem with observing the sky today is ironically our technology, most places on the planet you can barely make out 3 stars in the sky because of light pollution when even 50 years ago you could see 100's of thousands of them by just looking up with no technology needed unless you had eye problems.

    • @Darkstar72SR
      @Darkstar72SR 2 месяца назад +1

      Not sure why your rant switched from T2 to stargazing but I felt a correction is needed. With the naked eye, only about 3,000 stars are visible from any point in the world and it doesn’t matter how far back in time you go. After all, the h human eye is only so powerful.

    • @spazbog123
      @spazbog123 2 месяца назад

      @@Darkstar72SR It was 7 months ago but I am assuming they talked about stars - go to New York tilt your head up and tell me how many stars you see, if you say more than 10 you are lying - light pollution is very much a thing that has only gotten worse with technology, maybe 100's of thousands was an overstatement but you aren't seeing 3,000 stars any where near any major city on the planet but get yourself in the middle of nowhere and you will see those 3,000 stars just with your own eyes. It is an interesting contrast - if you have only ever been in the city and were born 30 years ago you shrug your shoulders and say so what, if you have never been in a city you can't believe the city person doesn't think much of it - but 50 years ago even city people could admire the stars in all their glory due to less light pollution.

    Before Robert Patrick played the villainous T-1000, Rock star Billy Idol (Dancing With Myself, Mony Mony, Cradle Of Love, and LA Woman) was considered but got into a motorcycle accident, injuring his leg.
    Robert Patrick studied wolves and eagles to give his character a more sinister look as if though he was tracking his prey.
    James Cameron was high on Ecstasy while writing the script.
    He revealed this while promoting AVATAR THE WAY OF WATER.
    Originally, the opening scene where the Terminator and T-1000 arrive naked from the future was almost cut as the producers thought it was a remake, but when they learned that the Terminator didn't kill anyone in the bar, they realized he's a good guy, while the T-1000 was the bad guy.
    The film won 4/6 Oscars:
    Best Visual Effects
    Best Sound Editing
    Best Sound Mixing
    Best Makeup.
    It was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing, but lost to JFK.
    It's one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.

  • @loganmaximus2160
    @loganmaximus2160 10 месяцев назад +1

    Actually, the arm in the lab wasn't the first prototype. It was what they found from the first terminator in Terminator 1. When she killed that terminator, its arm was reaching out to kill her and she used the machine to crush the terminator, but his arm was sticking out of the machine and was not damaged. They took that existing arm (and the CPU from the terminator's head) and that was what they were holding in the lab. They were using the technology of the future to make advancements. Essentially, they were trying to reverse engineer the existing components that were created by advanced AI from the future.

    10:26 As for the timeline. The T-800 (Arnie) went back in time to May 12, 1984 and tried to kill Sarah Connor. He failed. NOW in 1995 The T-800 (Arnie) has come back in time to PROTECT Sarah's son, John Connor and the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) is now the terminator trying to kill John. The War (Judgment Day) happens on August 29, 1997. On the video that Sarah watched with her doctor, she said "It happens, I know it happens". By the sound of what you are saying here, you seem to think she said "It happened."

    The concept of Ai have been in popular media since about 1930s. A fairly early movie to explore this is the 1956 movie "forbidden planet".
    Terminator was actually sort of behind the times with the "evil" AI. What cames after was the victim AI explored in the 1982 movie Blade runner.

    Two pieces of trivia that make this action masterpiece even better:
    At 09:32 none of the camera crew wanted to film the scene, because they were too afraid of the falling debris.
    So James Cameron grabed the camera and did it himself.
    At 31:31 they really flew a helicopter under bridges, through a tunnel and into the rear end of a truck.
    No CGI, no wires, no models.
    Just keep that in mind, should you watch Terminator: Genisys.
    And now, you won't ever need to watch another action movie for the rest of your lives, because you just watched the greatest there is, there was and there ever will be.
