Happy to help! And welcome to Lightroom - it takes a little time to get used to it, but once you find a system that works for you, it's a great way to keep your thousands of photos organized!
This was very helpful, Chrissy. I like to use one main catalog, except for some that I create to use for teaching. I have been so frustrated because those new catalogs don't contain my presets, and have found it very confusing to figure out where they are, etc. This was great info! Is it safe to assume that if you uncheck the Store With Catalog box, and move them to the default, that after restating LR they will still by synced ok?
Very glad to hear that! If I'm understanding correctly, yes all should be back in order once you manually move the presets back to their default home and then restart Lightroom. My fingers are crossed! (P.S. Run a backup before you make any of these changes so you can always restore to the earlier version just in case something goes goofy on you - better safe than sorry).
This may be the solution to a problem that I have always had to fix with using Sync. I can make a preset for setting the Camera and lens and make the adjustments after I check the first photo for the set of photos for that camera and lens.
For me a hacking aproach to these options is missing. Only then I fully grasp the options. For instance to now and then check and uncheck ..: or have a small app that synchronizes these folders (incremental, or/etc.), ...
Outstanding. I'm fairly new to LR so your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you.

Indeed, very helpful video. I had a heart attack when I "checked the box". I soon discovered what I did wrong. Thank you Chrissy.
Whether you checked the box or not, the important part is knowing how it works and where things have been saved. Glad it helped!

Yes, that's a great reason to set up a preset.
if you accidentally delete all the standard presets, is there a way to get them back?
