Braver man than me tackling that job with no lift. Kudos to you and your wife sir 👍🏻

Haha thanks. In retrospect I should have probably gotten some quickjacks or something before tackling such a big project.

Super stoked to see the outcome of this build! Definitely a future goal of mine to do this conversion!

Thanks for following along. Hopefully I can show what it takes so more people can take it on

This is a great example of why I hate working on newer cars.... Special tools for everything, and you have to remove everything to get to anything.

Yeah, its definitely more tightly packed than the truck was, but it so far has not been bad. Obviously having the engine on a stand makes it a lot easier though.

Considering how old, maybe if you havent considered, Carbon Clean it.

I checked it out and cleaned it up, but it was actually in really good shape. My guess is that someone had done it fairly recently.

It looks like your vacuum booster is leaking oil judging by the black on it. Pretty common. You can buy a rebuild kit here: rkxtech.com/collections/vacuum-pump-repair/products/rkx-audi-3-0t-vacuum-pump-reseal-rebuild-kit-b8-s4-q7-c6
Also, probably should have done the PCV and supercharger oil while you were in that far. PCV is extremely common to go bad. As others have said, test pipes while out would be wise as well so you have a reliable machine. If I had the engine out I’d probably consider resealing the timing chain covers and maybe replacing the oil filter housing gasket (really inexpensive). Why did you replace the oil pan?

The pan was dented from the crash. I will probably do the full tining chain set and stuff later on once the car is together and running. Dropping the engine isnt actually that big a job but I dont want to pour too much money into it before I am sure I can even pull of the swap.
Thanks for the heads up on the pump, I will look into it.

I'm actually looking for the metal coolant pipes that run down the front of the engine from the super charger to the heat exchanger. Would you happen to have a lead on one?
