    Very cool and awesome analysis and review! Fun fact: I believe Jodie and Austin mentioned in one of their interviews that the actual Benny really did stalk Kathy and waited outside of her house. Talk about commitment and dedication! Hehe. And yes, Austin does have a great career ahead of him. I am hoping that Michael Mann did cast Austin. Nobody else can play Chris but him.

    Great analysis guys. Love the Top Gun comparison! Randomly came across your channel. 👍🏻

    I liked this movie I would give 7.5 of 10. Directing was very good. . I was nice to see Tom Hardy in a good role for a change and Michael Shannon transformation was Fricken increasable he wasn't this average joe guy at all my respect for him has went up a lot, Jodi Comers character was very much on the spot. As far as Austin Butlers act was he played a young punk how wanted to hang but in the end he didn't have the stomach. One thing you guys said insecurity about the having to be masculine and not gay but isn't that what being in a gang.

      7.5 is fair. Thanks for the comment!

    When Johnny was talking really close to Benny telling him how much he wants him to take over I was getting a little vibe....then it passed.....thankfully.

    A lot of those old school biker dudes were straight but they liked to kiss each other to freak out squares and cops. The movie was definitely missing that vibe, lol. The Goodfellas influence was clear, but the fall of the gang wasn’t thoughtfully done as it was in Goodfellas.
    I think Austin Butler was kinda one note but it worked because Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy were incredible and it’s really about them trying and failing to share him.
    Great discussion, definitely subscribing to you guys.

    Fellas , Top Gun was made by a gay man , the male character's were all beautiful and the camera is objectifying them in every frame.

    • @mostlywrongopinions
      @mostlywrongopinions  2 месяца назад

      @@patrickbarnes2707 Doesn’t that strengthen our argument? The characters were depicted as straight and the film makers trusted their audience to understand that these guys weren’t necessarily gay themselves.

      @@mostlywrongopinions its no argument from me , its just that you seemed to imply the gayness was subtext and I'm saying it was all TEXT... but you know i was high AF when i watch ed review. Keep up the good work .

    I'm going to pass on this one, as it seems very toxic masculinity/patriarchy/hyper-macho-violent, and I get enough of that in real life (here in the most conservative parish in Louisiana.) Instead, I've got a copy of "The American Society of Magical Negroes" to watch, which looks funny and entertaining, and may help me expand my horizons (always a plus.)
    Thanks for sharing your insights and opinions, as always, and have a great weekend!

      It wasn’t misogynistic or anything, I just think they kept sidestepping a conversation that would have made their themes stronger. But I don’t blame you for skipping. Let me know how the movie was! I didn’t see that one!

      @@mostlywrongopinions I hear you on the conversation. The American Society of Magical Negroes was interesting. I don't want to say much and spoil it, but I think generational change is indicated between the main character and his mentor (change IS happening, albeit slowly.) Definitely some funny stuff, but a lot made me sad, too. I related to it in ways, myself (as a neurodivergent person.) My husband and I both cracked up at the ending. Well acted, and worth a watch.
