I’ve been researching air purifiers quite extensively over the last couple of weeks and wish I would have come across this video sooner. Very well done - thank you!
Excellent video, on a topic that is not covered as much as it should (my wife is allergic, as are many people). If there would be one suggestion, probably a comparison/summary table at the end would be the only thing missing. Thank you very much for your work.
Thank you and glad that you appreciated the models we covered - these were those that stood out to us as those that performed well in tests for performance, sound, energy usage and cost. Let me know which unit you decide to go with.
I noticed CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) was not mentioned whatsoever and is arguably the most important factor as no matter what unit you use it will need to keep up and beat the rate at which particulates and pollution are generated within an indoor space. It seems, without this metric, the review is only capturing an incomplete result. Your thoughts?
I agree CADR is super useful in identifying good air purifiers and our own testing is often used to check that this data matches real world performance. We have found a small number errors in the EnergyStar CADR database and some manufacters don't send their device for tests so we don't won't to only rely on that alone. But it is something we always consider as you can see in our reviews: ruclips.net/video/9cw8mRx0zHE/видео.htmlsi=_pdd_soLzCZfMb5-&t=312 I didn't go into too much detail in this video as it was already getting pretty long but will make sure to include this data in any tables we produce - we had good feedback from someone saying it would be good to have a table of data at the end to list all the information and CADR would be a good additon to here. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Thank you! I have a compromised respiratory system and I’m moving into off-campus student housing of questionable quality (moldy), so the discovery of air purifiers is really calming my concerns. Looking forward to the Nukit review.
There are specialist devices from Austin air and allerair but they cost quite a bit. >$600 a good budget option with washable carbon is the Winix 5500-2. Worth trying before going down the high end route .
Thanks Benjamin! Really appreciat you taking the time to comment. This message me inspires me in our next videos! Hope you subscribe to see our new videos :)
Hey this was software that we developed internally to connect with the PurpleAir API. We were thinking about releasing as open source if there is interest. Let me know if you need more technical details and I can speak to the developer who made it.
My coway 400 is awesome. My oldest cat hasn’t been doing so well so she’s in a closet. Needless to say, the coway is really helping with the urine smell.
@@paulmcqueen4749 not a good luck for Levoit as they shouldn’t have said it was hepa but I wouldn’t worry too much as the filters still performed well at removing tiny particles in our test and the Aham cadr report.
The key thing is to get a device that has a removable pre-filter as dog hair will quickly build up. Best without spending too much would be the Winix 5500-2 (US) or Winix Zero (UK and Europe) - they have washable carbon filter, pre-filter and plasmwave that will help with odors. Let me know if you have more questions.
Hi what purifier do you recommend for cigar smoking indoors in 100sqft room? I was looking at Winix 5500-2 and/or Leviot core 600s. Thanks for your input in advance.
Out of the two I would pick the core 600s as it has a much higher CADR but it’s unlikely to be enough for cigar smoke indoors. for this use case you might need investing in a device that uses electrostatic filters and have very high cadr and are classed they smoke eaters but they are not cheap staring at $1.6k. The consumer device that offers a similar function would be something like the Bluair classic range like the 605 but if you want to be able to keep a room clean when smoking indoors you will have to likely have to get one of the high cost specialist units. I haven’t tested any of these so can’t offer specifics but hope that is helpful.
Great video. I’m curious if there should be a purifier on each floor. I have two short hair dogs and despite swiffering daily I can see particles in the air. Total sqft 2000.
In general I recommend an air purifier for each room. But if this is too much one in the hall area and in the room you want to keep clean. Thanks for the kind words 🙏
For large spaces, did you test the Medify MA-112 and Coway Airmega 400 or even the Airmega Pro X? These score highest on other publications, and given the price and size one can see why... I'm always looking to compare the best combination of performance vs noise vs power draw - on basically all devices this is around the middle fan speed at most. I wish air purifier reviewers did noise-normalized performance tests on all these categories.
Not tested those buy very much want to test both the Coways as I like their other devices. Have reviewed a few Medify devices and I always found the genuine filters ridiculously priced but will also eventually get around to this device for testing. I also want to test and review the IQAir Atem X but $1300! Love your idea and have already started to test larger devices for performance at different speeds so will make sure to get the middle fan speed.
What do you think about shark neverchange. I was thinking about getting the Shark Neverchange for 300 dollars. It's for a house and we have a dog, 2 cats and a 5 year old. I plan on moving it between the living room and basement.
Have received a lot messages about the Shark Neverchange so will need to test soon. In all my years, most filters that’s promise that they don’t need to change usually don’t match up to expectations but will go in with an open mind. I did like the build quality of the shark hp102 but is generally too high cost for the performance to make it a device I recommend.
Hello! Thank you again for such a great review. My 2 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Lukemia, I was wondering if the Levoit was good enough for a large space even though it doesn't have a hepa filter. Or do you have any other recommendations?
Really sorry to hear abut your daughter. I wouldn't worry about it not being HEPA as we have seen that many non-HEPA grade filters can perform quicker at removing the smallest of particles from the air. If you share me the room size you want to keep clean and I provide a few different reccomendations for you to choose from.
For the rooms the kids are like 8x13 so 105sq feet ish and ours is 13.75 x 15.5 so 215 Sq feet. I am also looking to get one to put in our living room but it's open with the kitchen and has vaulted ceilings. He big open space in our living room is where I was thinking of putting the leviott 600s. I don't know about the other rooms yet
I've been using the Coway hepa filters for about 10 years now. Are they considered outdated and not recommended at this point? Should I consider replacing them with one of the units from this list?
No the Coway Ap15122hh which we reviewed housefresh.com/coway-airmega-ap-1512hh-review/ is still a good unit but is slightly beaten but the newer devices we have reviewed this year. I am keen to test the new Coway 200M to see how it compares to the newer units from Levoit and Winix. Coway is one of the better brands in the industry so wouldn't want you to think you need to replace.
Hi! I found your page from an article talking about Google SEO and reach. You guys make amazing contents! You have no idea how refreshing it is to watch honest reviews, among the many deceptive ads out there. Just a quick thought since I live in Asia. It occurs to me that there are some affordable brands over here that doesn't make it to the developed market, such as the Xiaomi air purifiers. And there are not many quality reviewers discussing about them either. So i was just wondering if reviewing these brands might improve your engagement, as there is big view traffic from the densely populated areas here. And if the performance of these brands are on par with the well known brands, maybe you guys can play as the distributor. Anw, enough blabbering. Thanks for the high quality reviews. I am better informed because of it. Cheers!
Thank you and I'm glad you found us! I have actually just produced an unboxing video for the Xiaomi Pro 4 that i was able to buy here in the UK for £209. Will be testing soon but on-paper looks great value. I did find it strange that this unit was not available in the US but smaller older devices were - but will dig in deeper when I review. So yeah, I do think this is a great idea and in a few weeks I will have our first Xiaomi air purifier review live. Thanks again for your kind words and taking the effort to share your idea.
Hopefully I get a reply back and thank you in advance! I’m doing resin 3D printing which emits pretty toxic fumes and VOC’s. I was looking at a puroair with a HEPA 14 filter would that be enough for those really small particles/ VOC’s?
VOCs and gasses in general are only removed by carbon. The best “cheap” air purifier with a good amount of carbon would be the Winix 5500-2. I would avoid any that use bonded filters that combine the carbon and particle filter as in your use case you may need to replace the carbon more regularly so won’t want to waste money/create waste by replacing both parts. Hope that helps, happy to answer more questions.
New subscriber here I am learning a lot of your channel. I need to ask you something please. I have a Dyson pure and cool TP09 in my living room and detects lots of VOC but it’s not capable to reduce them too much. Dyson is cool for the features but it’s not a great purifier. I am thinking to put another purifier in the living room. Which one would be better for VOC? Levoit 600s or Coway 250 or 300 ?.The doubt is because this Coway units have more quantity of carbon. Probably this high VOC levels are due that the house was painted 2 months ago AND there are 7!!! Yes 7 factories around,, and the biggest Methane factory in Europe. I have severe asthma and my health has gone extremely worse since I live here. If I had known this I would have never moved here but now I have no choice . I have purchased 2 Winix Zero pro ( using them with plasma off as you recommend) ,2 Levoit 300 S for other rooms and just ordered a Levoit vital 200s for my bedroom as you recommended me in another video. But the worse accumulation is in the living room so I need something extremely powerful to complement my Dyson but in a budget,,, I am spending a fortune in air purification units. Thanks in advance Pd,,, I don’t mind using multiple devices or concerned about noise levels,,, I am rewatching all your videos trying to find a solution but I thing u can help me better. The option between Coway or Levoit is because other devices you recommend are not available in Spain like the IQ air ( not even the Levoit 600s but I can order from Amazon Italy). Thanks for your amazing and informative videos mate I highly appreciate them 🙏
Both the Levoit Core 600S and Coway 250/300 have bonded filters which might create a problem as you may need to replace the carbon more often - same issue with the Dyson. What about using 2 more Winix Zero Pro in that room as they are available in your region with well priced filters and having most the same brand/model will make life a little easier when it comes to filter replacements? The big benefit for VOC is that you can swap out the carbon more regularly until its reduced without having to buy the particle filter as well.
@@HouseFresh Thanks a lot honestly I appreciate you take your time trying to help me. Ok I will do as u recommend and I will let you know. Thanks a lot 🙏🙏
@HouseFresh thanks, think I should go for winix zero s at 200 or airfanta 3 pro at 250? I probably want to get 4 or 5 or them and run them 24/7. So they would need to be quiet. But at the same time I know the airfantas don't have a sensor,... I don't want to be constantly worrying about turning them up and down! Id rather just turn on and forget.
What is the best pick for pet dander? I may have some allergies to pollen also but more so my girlfriend’s dogs bad dandruff. When the sun shines through our window I literally see particles floating everywhere. No one in the home smokes so I assume most the particles are larger. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the reply honestly! We have a couple of cats with long fur and it would be nice to have a bit of help from an air purifier plus to make it easier for visitors that have allergies. @@HouseFresh
Main thing to look for is a good amount of Carbon. Best budge option is the WInix 5500-2 as it has washable carbon filter with good amounts for the price. Right now I am using the Alen 45i with the Smoke/VOC filter and it works very well for my kitchen.
I'm working on this and testing a few versions that I was able to find at least in the UK. Not got a chance to test this but I expect it will be very similar to the Taotronics : www.amazon.se/Midea-MP-luftrenare-allergiker-H13-filter/dp/B08RPB3W7H/
I’m having a baby in September and looking for a good air purifier! We live off a dirt road and have two cats so it gets really dusty and stuffy. We have 2 small levoit air purifiers that just don’t cut it even with dusting and vacuuming. Hoping to find a purifier that’s got some power to it!😁
Congratulations on the new baby 👶 Air purifier brands don’t make it easy as they often exaggerate room sizes so makes it super confusing for consumers. One of my recent videos has some good general tips to help you choose: ruclips.net/video/nE3u-2EyW-s/видео.htmlsi=fhZMpduulnkPQ6vs
@@expressfashionman89 have tested a few here housefresh.com/car-air-purifiers/ I would like to try some of the more portable pc fan type designs soon as I beg they could be good and much quieter.
Would love to see a test on Ozoneair Purify, if you can get your hands on one. If they are as critically acclaimed as everyone says. Loved the video! Keep it up
Is it this device? shop.ntm.se/sortiment/hem-inredning/ozoneair-purify-120 I worry about the use of ozone but will certainly add it to our list of units to review. Thanks did the kind words it’s much appreciated.
@@HouseFresh yes but there are 2 lesser versions, 60 and 30 without ozone. And the ozone is not always on. And they recommend to leave the house and remove pets if you are gonna use it.
@@niklasfrisell5714 understood , I will stick to the non ozone version as my wife and son have asthma and I can’t risk any problems from ozone. This device wouldn’t be able to be sold in the US due to EPA rules on ozone release for air cleaners.
Trying to buy some to filter COVID aerosols and pollen, thank you! Subbed. Lovely channel Want to add, maybe add a use case next time for filtering viral aerosols? (like COVID). That’s why I’m interested mainly.
Thanks! According to Joey Fox, many respiratory aerosols are between 0.5 µm and 5µm, so our test does give you a good indication of how well an air purifier will remove these particles from the air. Great info here: itsairborne.com/hepa-filter-faq-4bcf084cb64e
Any particle filter above Merv 13 will work well. Just make sure you get the right cadr to provide at least 4.8 air changes for the room you are using it. Be sure to make sure that you have dealt with the original source of asbestos has been removed/dealt with.
I have a basement room with HORRIBLE dust and some mold from water seeping into the walls from my shower. Its slightly under 300 sq ft. Which one would be best for me?
I would make sure to deal with the humidity issue first with a dehumidifier and then look at an air purifier like the Winix 5500-2 or Levoit Vital 200S for dealing with any pollutants in the air.
Whats your opinion on smaller Levoit devices? I have small appartment with 18m2 living room and 9m2 bedroom. That Levoit 200s seems big for those rooms. I see in your backgroung Levois 300s I think, is it good?
For me the Levoit Core 300 size is the smallest I would go. Any smaller and the filter costs just cost too much for the amount of air you can clean. I am going to be putting out a video this week about the a device I found on Temu/AliExpress that goes into more detail about my reasoning for avoiding “mini” air purifiers. If the vital 200s is too big then you can look at the vital 100s which is all the same feature but in a small size. Got a review filmed, just need to edit!
@@HouseFresh waiting to see the video of vital 100s. Other thing that I am worry about, is that the filter for vital 200s and 100s are not available on official site of Levoit (polish site) and it is not easy to find them. I have to contact them and ask about it.
Great video! When talking about a small apartment/studio aprox 350 sq ft with open spaces, which option would you recommend? What about the IQAir Atem Desk and AirDoctor 2000?
thank you. For this space assuming you have 8ft ceiling you will need 224 cfm for 4.8 air changes per hour. I tested the IQAir Atem car model and it was the best we saw for the car but did feel very high priced for the low level of CADR so wouldn't reccomend for your situation. If you like Air Doctor I would look at the 3000 housefresh.com/airdoctor-ad3000/ as that would have enough CADR for your space and you could leave it on a lower fan speed for reduced noise levels. But you could also look at any of my top picks from this video like the Levoit Vital 200S and Winix 5500-2 as they are both suitable for this room space. If it was me I would go for a device with a higher CADR like the Levoit Core 600S or EverestAir as you could keep your air clean with a lower fan speed so less noisy but would cost more initially. Hope that helps!
@@HouseFresh Great thank you for answering! Now, considering I live in a small space, size and aesthetic do matter, so considering that would you still go for Levoit 600 S or EverestAir?
@@mariakuri1884 If asthetics matter, I would much prefer the EverestAir as it also has a removable pre-filter that makes it much easier to keep on top of cleaning the pre-filter. I actually have my review for this device coming out on Friday so keep an eye on that. The main benefit over the 600S is that it's cheaper.
Looks like a ionizer device that has a mode that could lead to lots of ozone. I don’t think it’s worth the risk to use as an air purifier. I don’t think any level of ozone is worth it and would stick to just mechanical filtration like hepa and activated carbon. Hope this helps, I haven’t tested it but this is just from the info I could see online for this device.
Thanks for the kind words! I will see if we can make sure to include UK links in this video but sadly many devices are not available so can be tricky. Feedback from you and others has encouraged us to create a video of the Best Air Purifiers Available in the UK - to be sure to keep an eye on that in future.
@@adelinechan4777 any that use activated carbon filter. I would go for something like the Winix 5500-2 if your not looking to spend too much and it has washable activated carbon.
@@HouseFreshwow thanks for your super quick reply! One more question - which is better for reducing VOC, formaldehyde & other harmful gasses, IQAir Healthpro 250 or Austin Healthmate?
@@adelinechan4777 I would choose the IQAir as it was much quicker at removing particles so higher airflow capacity than the Austin and still has large amount of Carbon.
Will a smaller or less expensive air purifier do anything for cigarette smoke? It’s the only reason I’m looking for one. Comes in from neighbours. Was looking at the Winix 5500-2 previously
It depends on how severe the issue is. It's likely worth trying a cheap device like the Winix 5500-2, which has the most carbon in a cheap unit, and using it with its Plasmawave. Hopefully, it's enough, but if not, then you could look at more specialist devices.
@@HouseFresh Thanks for the reply. It seems there’s a lot of misinformation online about purifiers. If I could ask, when it says carbon helps filter the odours of the smoke - does that mean just the smell is handled by carbon, and then the harmful particulates are filtered by the HEPA filter?
@@cadencedoherty9981 Yeah sadly it's full of people saying lots of very different things usually to sell you something overpriced! So just the gases that include VOCs (which cause smell) are captured by the carbon and then the tiny particles are picked up by the HEPA. So for cigarette smoke you need both but many small air purifiers have such small amounts that the carbon becomes used up very quickly.
What do you recommend for ALOT of dust particles for 1) living room/dining in a condo 2) 12 x 16 bedrooms in condo, with 8ft ceilings...thank you for all the info & care
Hi Lynne, you didn't mention the size for the dining room but assuming its no bigger than 350 sq ft, then I would get a device like the Vital 200S, Winix 5500-2 or Winix C545 for the living room and then for the bedroom I would choose cheaper/smaller devices like Levoit Vital 100S, Winix A230 or Taotronics AP003 (also called Lorell HEPA 420 in Walmart is $79 at the moment) I'm assuming you want best bang for buck with these choices. If you don't mind spending more money you could get more performance for less found with devices like the Levoit EverestAir/Air Doctor 3000 but they do come with a higher price with less cheap filters but are powerful enough to run on lower fan speeds and still keep your rooms clean. All of these options come with removal pre-filters which will make it much easier to keep on top of cleaning them - dirty pre-fitlers can really reduce performance if not cleaned regularly. Hope that helps and thanks for your comment!

@@HouseFresh You can't honestly say that after being around for only 3 years. Your site saw a peak for a 7 month period in which you got lucky. There's a tonne to improve, like proving to Google you're not just some content farm, since your parent company is Neomam. Try taking hints out of your successful videos, rather than posting random crap like 1 minute noise tests. "Testing" your content on Reddit probably isn't doing you any favours either!

@@HouseFresh BTOD do office chair reviews; they would be a perfect example of how your website should be structured. Their RUclips doesn't include any silly 1 minute chair spin tests. Stick to what's getting views or include it as part of a larger review. There's tonnes of review sites out there that do well, it annoys me when people take the most simplisitic view of SEO possible and then wonder why their site bombed. SEO has many moving parts and whilst you may tick the box regarding content, holistically Homefresh is lacking overall when it comes to SEO. You can recover from this, but not without some heavy restructing of the website and how content is produced for RUclips.
I installed a generic filter (almost half the price of a genuine one) into my Levoit 300S after 6 months of use. How efficient are these generic filters compared to the originals. Also I blew through my original filter with pressurised air like I do to my car air filter. Is it usable still?
I haven't had a chance to test many generic filters but I did recently test one for the Alen 45i with a filter from Pureberg and got the exact same result when we tested it in our test room. The fact that many DIY devices use non-HEPA grade fitlers and perform very well makes me thing that even if a generic filter isn't the same grade as the OEM filter it may still perform as well as single pass filtration is not that important with an air purifier. There is a great video on here that goes into a ton of detail on this: ruclips.net/video/gaQTYrisieA/видео.html I will do lots more testing with generic filters to prove this idea but my recommendation is that you should save your money and go with generic . For cleaning the filters, I would avoid using pressured air as it could damage the filter and that has been shown to effect performance, same with washing it. I would stick with new generic filters vs trying to clean existing ones. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment!
Hi, great video! I am wondering, I live in a 750 sq. ft. condo and my neighbor smokes and my unit smells like a smokey bar. Which would be better for cig smoke: The Levoit 200s or Levoit 600s (the IQ Air would be too much $) I can stands the smell no longer!! PS. I need something without the Ionizer..Thanks for any help!!
Sorry it wasn’t clearer the main thing we look at first is air cleaning performance, CADR and how quickly it removed PM1 from our test room. Will make sure this is clearer in next version. Thanks for the feedback 👍
Will add to the list! Im a little cautious as most promises of never having to change the filters over the years has been found to be untrue. But will be keen to put this device to the test! Thanks for sharing with me.
I work in a parking garage and there’s black soot from vehicle exhaust everywhere!!! I really need some help on what would help keep me safe in my office area. Please can you help. Thanks.
@@HouseFresh you’re the best! Can’t thank you enough. The washable filters should be fine or like an activated carbon filter? The soot is everywhere, pretty thick.
It really annoys me that so many air purifier brands overexaggerate room sizes. They use the fact that the device can provide one air change in this space, but you need at least 4.8 air changes per hour. For the Levoit Core 300, we suggest the max room size be 219 sq. ft., as that will give 4.8 air changes. You can see my full review of the Levoit Core 300: housefresh.com/levoit-core-300-review/ Thanks for your comment. I really need to do a video about brands using exaggerated room sizes. I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there using devices in spaces that are just too big for them and then wondering why they don't work.
Maybe but I have to say I am very impressed with these new devices that use PC fans - they can clean a lot of air and are super quiet. Be interesting to see what else happens with this technology.
Hi guys. What a minefield this world is! My 3 year old has an outrageous grass pollen allergy. Trying to find the best air Purifier to give him some releif. Biggest room is 24 metre squared. Dont care about price, just want the best one to clear the pollen to help him during the high pollen months! Thank you
Hey sorry missed this! You are right, its a minefield and its becase many of the bad actors in this space make it this way. Much easier to sell you overhyped underperformers when consumers are confused! If price is no issue then I would get a device like the Levoit EverstAir or Air Doctor 3000. Both of these performed super well in our particle removal test and you could use them on the lower speeds for reduced noise. If had to choose one I would likely choose the EverstAir as I prefer the look of it and it runs the quietest at its low speed but the Air Doctor has the benefit ofseperate carbon filters but this would be for odor issues rather than pollen. My full review for both devices are here: housefresh.com/levoit-everestair-review/ and housefresh.com/airdoctor-ad3000/ Got plans to create video reviews for both soon! thanks again for commenting.

@@HouseFresh Thanks so much. I'll keep an eye out for your review of the Xiaomi Pro 4. The most common missing (or unobvious) part for me is around the carbon filtering. Most state an 'active carbon filter' but I know that it's all about how much carbon there is, correct? But they generally either don't state this or it's not clear. I don't want to just grab something and then find out a year later that it's been barely touching the carbon, which is our primary reason for getting it. Would the carbon emissions fall into the 2.5 or above category? Or are they smaller?
@@GrumpyStoic Be aware that each seperate room might need single devices for each. I would suggest a large device like the Core 600S near the entryway. Sorry for the delay in responding to this!

@@helenalovelock1030 Are you based in the UK? If so I would look at the Winix Zero SE as it has auto-mode and good performance to £ ratio. If you have a Costco membership they sell them often quite cheap there plus you get a years worth of filters with them. This also has a removal pre-filter which will make life easier with pets as you will find the pre-filter will get quite full with hair and dander. I would try just having one device and moving it to see if that helps and if you find that one useful then look into a separate unit for the bed room. Its fairly light so easy enough to move. Hope that helps but let me know if you need more info/options.
@@HouseFresh I’m currently using ALORAIR CleanShield HEPA 550 in my workshop and it’s pretty effective and cost me 490 USD and way more efficient than most Air Purifiers I’ve tried.
@@dreamsky05 I have that device but found it very loud so not really a good option for most peoples home. It was powerful for sure but I still found the Smartair blast mini to be quicker at cleaning my test room and much quieter and around the same cost.
We’re actually thinking about one of the pc fan versions (clean air kits) because supposedly they are as effective as more expensive purifiers because you can run them all the time since they are so quiet (compared to purifiers that are so loud you don’t actually end up running them on top speed). When are you planning on coming out with the review for the pc fan purifier? So hard to navigate all the bs marketing! Thank you 🙏🏻
It's great to get a comment about the PC fan air purifier! We just uploaded a video of the unboxing and build of the Nukit Tempest: ruclips.net/video/eRplRf2qrOU/видео.html . I'm testing it at the moment so the review will be live in a few weeks. We have the Clean Air Kits lined up for the next PC fan test.
Not had a chance yet but heard some negative reports from some. I am always wary of things like never change filters. Too many products have been sold that end up failing to deliver but maybe this is the one. Have you used?
@@HouseFresh yes i have it. And i agree the “never change” is a gimmick but it does say the hepa needs to change every 5 years, so that’s better than every year with most purifier’s. The scent pod thing is useless though. But the unit looks like R2D2 if you’re a Star Wars fan so that’s cool lol
Haha R2D2 sounds cool and I was a big fan of the build quality with try Shark HP102 - housefresh.com/shark-hp102-review/ Will add the new Shark to our list and hope to get around to testing it before the end of this year. Let me know if you have any issues with it that I should be aware of.

We have reviewed Coway AP-1512hh - housefresh.com/coway-airmega-ap-1512hh-review/ and Winix 5500-2 - housefresh.com/winix-5500-2-review/ - all the data should be on the site. Both were very good at cleaning the air of PM1 and have very fairly priced filters although they are a little bit more energy hungry than the latest Levoit models. I want to test the Nuwave Oxypure and Shark devices soon. Had not heard of the Kenmore but will add to list - thank you for sharing!
Pet dander can be picked up quite easily from any type of particulate filter. The main thing to look for is a removal pre-filter as it will make it much easier to keep on top of keeping clean.
Some pc fans are better than others, this has some great information: itsairborne.com/choosing-a-pc-fan-for-an-air-purifier-the-only-fans-guide-feaf497af20c
BEWARE: I'm seeing sellers now advertising CARD in cubic meters per hour (m³/hr) which are bigger numbers than the traditional cubic feet per minute ( ft³/min). Example; 380m³/hr is about 223ft³/min. This site then goes on to say; "The CADR rating reflects the volume of air in CFM (cubic feet per minute) ...". "REFLECTS ... CFM (ft³/min)". Disgusting.
I have seen this for quite a while sadly. They like that its a bigger number! Similar to when many brads will give the room size for only 1 ACH in amazon listings. Thanks for making more people aware of this!

Excellent video, on a topic that is not covered as much as it should (my wife is allergic, as are many people). If there would be one suggestion, probably a comparison/summary table at the end would be the only thing missing.
Thank you very much for your work.
Great idea and will add to future versions. Thanks for your kind words .
Great review. Really like the models that are not usually reviewed.

Is there an air purifier that works good for voc or has activated carbon?
There are specialist devices from Austin air and allerair but they cost quite a bit. >$600 a good budget option with washable carbon is the Winix 5500-2. Worth trying before going down the high end route .
Fantastic video, very well put together. Thank you!

Should we care about the HEPA rating being stripped from the 200S, should we rather look at HEPA rated units?
@@paulmcqueen4749 not a good luck for Levoit as they shouldn’t have said it was hepa but I wouldn’t worry too much as the filters still performed well at removing tiny particles in our test and the Aham cadr report.
Impressive video. Thanks for sharing the information. Which make and model would be the best for pet (dog) allergy stuff?
I’m surprised that philips isn’t mentioned here as it purifies air from smoke in less than 8 minutes in a room full of heavy smokers !
I bought the Philips 3000i and plan to test and review it soon. Is this the model you have?

Haha I can't beleive so many people have watched and liked! I do hope you are right though and it will continue to grow.
@@HouseFresh Glad to hear it, thanks!
Thanks in advance
Pd,,, I don’t mind using multiple devices or concerned about noise levels,,, I am rewatching all your videos trying to find a solution but I thing u can help me better.

@HouseFresh thanks, think I should go for winix zero s at 200 or airfanta 3 pro at 250? I probably want to get 4 or 5 or them and run them 24/7. So they would need to be quiet.

Hi, I'm just about to buy a greentech pureair 3000 but would really appreciate your opinion please.
Looks like a ionizer device that has a mode that could lead to lots of ozone. I don’t think it’s worth the risk to use as an air purifier. I don’t think any level of ozone is worth it and would stick to just mechanical filtration like hepa and activated carbon.

Hi Lynne, you didn't mention the size for the dining room but assuming its no bigger than 350 sq ft, then I would get a device like the Vital 200S, Winix 5500-2 or Winix C545 for the living room and then for the bedroom I would choose cheaper/smaller devices like Levoit Vital 100S, Winix A230 or Taotronics AP003 (also called Lorell HEPA 420 in Walmart is $79 at the moment)
I'm assuming you want best bang for buck with these choices.

@@HouseFresh I replied, seems my comment was deleted.
There is a great video on here that goes into a ton of detail on this: ruclips.net/video/gaQTYrisieA/видео.html
I will do lots more testing with generic filters to prove this idea but my recommendation is that you should save your money and go with generic .
I’m confused, all this was a review for sound and power usage. What about actual purifier results? Did I miss it? I’m confused.

@@HouseFresh you’re the best! Can’t thank you enough. The washable filters should be fine or like an activated carbon filter? The soot is everywhere, pretty thick.
We have found the Levoit 300 to be good for your living room, but not an entire apartment of say 750sq ft, despite their claim of 1130
It really annoys me that so many air purifier brands overexaggerate room sizes. They use the fact that the device can provide one air change in this space, but you need at least 4.8 air changes per hour. For the Levoit Core 300, we suggest the max room size be 219 sq. ft., as that will give 4.8 air changes.
You can see my full review of the Levoit Core 300: housefresh.com/levoit-core-300-review/
Thanks for your comment. I really need to do a video about brands using exaggerated room sizes. I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there using devices in spaces that are just too big for them and then wondering why they don't work.
Wow based on 4.8x I would need many units for my open basement 1630sf 😮
@@shaolin95 yeah that’s why I don’t like when they give the size for 1 ach as it gives consumers the wrong expectation of what a device can do.
I don’t think any air purifier is beating IQ Air. And they haven’t updated their units in years.
Maybe but I have to say I am very impressed with these new devices that use PC fans - they can clean a lot of air and are super quiet. Be interesting to see what else happens with this technology.
@@HouseFresh what is a pc fan?

My full review for both devices are here: housefresh.com/levoit-everestair-review/ and housefresh.com/airdoctor-ad3000/
Got plans to create video reviews for both soon! thanks again for commenting.

@@GrumpyStoic The main thing to look for is a large air purifier as these can be used on lower fan speed for reduced sound but still clean a lot of air. I haven't tested many devices available in Australia but I am testing the Xiaomi Pro 4 which might be a device available to you. A good general advice video for you: ruclips.net/video/nE3u-2EyW-s/видео.html
What is the best air purifier that can also be used as a fan in the summer at the same time ?
It’s not the fastest air purifier but is a good fan is the Dyson TP07 - housefresh.com/dyson-purifier-cool-tp07-review/ I did try a cheaper knockoff version but was much worse as both a fan and air purifier - housefresh.com/ultty-cr-021-review/
In most cases better to have a separate powerful fan and air purifier as combo costs much more.
@@HouseFreshthank you so much for answering really appreciate it. I agree I’m going to get a separate purifier for house all year round and then a separate fan just for summer.

We’re actually thinking about one of the pc fan versions (clean air kits) because supposedly they are as effective as more expensive purifiers because you can run them all the time since they are so quiet (compared to purifiers that are so loud you don’t actually end up running them on top speed). Did you test the Shark Never Change Max?
Not had a chance yet but heard some negative reports from some. I am always wary of things like never change filters. Too many products have been sold that end up failing to deliver but maybe this is the one. Have you used?
@@HouseFresh yes i have it. And i agree the “never change” is a gimmick but it does say the hepa needs to change every 5 years, so that’s better than every year with most purifier’s. The scent pod thing is useless though. But the unit looks like R2D2 if you’re a Star Wars fan so that’s cool lol

BEWARE: I'm seeing sellers now advertising CARD in cubic meters per hour (m³/hr) which are bigger numbers than the traditional cubic feet per minute ( ft³/min). Example; 380m³/hr is about 223ft³/min.
