    They should have never discontinued this. The design is great and it seems like itd be a good competitor to the Vital 200. It just needed a refeesh with app support. Not a complete replacement. Bad business.

    I wonder why the third party Levoit brands don't separate the filters. I can see why Levoit would do it for their first party filters. They can squeeze more money out of customers but youd think someone would have figured out a way to separate the carbon and filter layers.

    This is an odd graph. 8:00. You have some values as being the same, but are different lengths. The media (TV news) does this as a means of deceiving people. Are you doing that?

    With the ioniser using so little wattage, how do you know if the ioniser is actually producing ions?

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 22 часа назад

      I have tested quite a few Plasmawave-enabled Winix models with and without the function and see a minor increase in performance, which would suggest to me it's creating ions.

    • @krana1
      @krana1 21 час назад

      Less than half a watt still makes me question just how much ions it's actually producing. Perhaps a test with an ion meter to compare the ion generation with other 'ion generating' purifiers would be worth considering. Until I saw your results on wattage usage (which tally with my Zero S model), I did wonder if half a watt would be sufficient to generate ions which would actually be significant enough to kill microbacteria in the air.

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 17 часов назад

      I do think that maybe at top speed the overall watt maxes out. At lower fan speeds the ionizer i do a see more power drawn when using ioinzer. An ion meter is great idea will look into adding for future.

    I bought the Philips 3200 for my bedroom, simply for the lowest advertised noise level of 15dB. Even that easily keeps me awake. So I can't image how anyone could sleep with over 30dB fan noise.

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 21 час назад

      Sorry to hear, I find the 3000 very low but we all have different sensitivities. It might be worth seeing if types of sound work better for you if the Philips keeps you awake. Have the 3200 got a sleep mode?

    • @Hans_R_Freisen
      @Hans_R_Freisen 20 часов назад

      Yes, sleep mode. The fan sounds louder but 'smoother' at higher speeds, with quieter but rougher fan noise in sleep and auto modes. Maybe I was unlucky, and the fan is spinning slightly off-centre.

    The Atmotube has an SPS30 sensor, which performed better on PM1 and PM2.5 in the field compared to the Purple Air Flex dual PMS6003 sensors. I see the Zen also has dual PMS6003 sensors. I'm curious why you consider the Purple Air zen more accurate?

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 21 час назад

      When looking at the AQMD data the Purple Air PA-II has PM2.5 R2 ~ 0.93 to 0.97 vs the Atmotube has PM2.5: 0.79 < R2 < 0.90. The Atmotube is good but the data from AQMD suggest the Zen is the better sensor. I also like how you can access data with Purpleair and it seemed to me that most widely used in academic studies. Will be sure to include more of this data in the version for 2025.

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 20 часов назад

      Just saw I was reading an older AQMD for the original PA-ii not the Flex which would be: PM2.5: 0.78 < R2 < 0.90 so the Atmotube is more slightly more accurate at PM2.5. I will still stick to zen due to ease of use but I do want to make it clear the AQMD data for people deciding which one for most accurace.

    Thank your for this video. My main concern is mold. Which air purifier worked well to remove mold in small and large areas

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 21 час назад

      The first thing I would say is to reduced the humidity with a dehumidifier as that can help immensely to stop mold being created. Most particle filters in air purifiers will do a good job so depends on what features/elements you happy to pay for. Make sure normal usage CADR is good enough for 5 air changes in your space. How good are these at capturing VOCS? I have the core 300 with the green toxin absorber filter. I sprayed a little bit of deodorant into the holes at the bottom that suck in the air. I then could smell the deodorant blowing out of the top if the air purifier for about 20 minutes. Are they any good at capturing VOCS because my deodorant test makes me think they're not

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 21 час назад

      The Toxin has 90g which is still not lots but should still work at removing odors in the air over time but much slower than particle removal. Anything sprayed directly onto the filter will still stay there as it will soak into the filter material. They do work for minor odors in the air but might be used up much quicker than larger filter sizes.

I have a large space with vaulted ceilings to a loft area so will probably need multiple machines. I have a Winix C545 but absolutely impossible to reach anyone with customer service to get their app to work. They have someone in US taking messages relaying to someone in Korea who provides basic suggestions with don't address the issue or fix the problem. App not required but very frustrating as it is a selling point and I would like to get it to work.

    I have just recently bought this and can confirm that it is officially sold and there are Levoit websites operating in multiple EU countries. This could be recent but I think makes it a much easier recommendation, as specially with warranty and easy access to OEM filters straight from Levoit.

  • @Zorta58nb

    I wanted to test how good the filter is at getting rid of VOCS. It wasn't a very scientific test but what I did was spray a little bit of deodorant into the bottom of the levoit. The smell of the deodorant instantly blew out of the top of the air purifier and I could smell the deodorant blowing out for about 20 minutes before I could stop smelling it. On top of that, I have the green toxin absorber filter. Because of that, it makes me wonder if these things really do filter/capture toxins etc. I think they're pretty good at capturing dust and things like that but VOCS I'm not convinced. What do you think, man in video? EDIT I have the same model as in this video.

      I think the unbonded filter gives more options but the bonded type provide better air cleaning compared to non-bonded in our tests. For air purifiers, Korea made has had a great reputation for build quality for air purifiers. Levoit are Chinese made and I also find their quality very good. The biggest difference in quality of air purifiers is with smaller companies that use off the shelf designs vs those that have put a lot of R and D into their own air purifiers/fan motor designs/motherboards..etc - both Winix and Levoit invest a lot and have many patents.

    I bought the taotronics back in 2022 for $75cad, without watching a single review video. It was my first air purifier purchase and I just did my standard research via user reviews and ratings. I got quite lucky in how great the unit turned out to be. Fast forward 2yrs, and due to severe allergies, I'm now in need of a 2nd unit for my bedroom. I was originally thinking of going with one of the smaller units until I stumbled upon your channel and started watching some reviews. I then decided I would try purchasing a 2nd taotronics until. Impossible. I can't find that thing anywhere. I considered the winix 5500-02 unit, but it's $300cad, and that's far out of my budget. The 100s and 200s are also north of $200cad, which I wasn't really feeling either. I decided I would do a search for all of those alternative taotronics units, manufactured by other brands. Most weren't available in my country, but I think I may have just got lucky. I found a retailer offering one of them on sale for $99cad. I pulled the trigger and hope it comes without issues. If it does, I owe a huge thanks to your videos for all the help. I will post back soon!

    Been watching several of your videos (amazing and informative!!) and so far the winix 5500-2 seems to check my top priorities (true hepa, activated charcoal filter, decent noise under $250 USD) but my room size is slightly larger than recommended for this filter. Working with a large open space, 32ft l x 14 ft w x 8 ft h. Using the calculator on your site, it's recommending 276 CFM where the qinix comes in just shy around 240 CFM avg Would I still notice a difference in air quality with this model? Or any other recommendations sub $250-$300? I feel I'm hitting road blocks meeting my priorities/room size within my price range. Thanks in advance!

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 20 часов назад

      You could look at a larger models that can give you close to 274 cfm at lower sound levels. The EverestAir can give 205 cfm on a speed lower than 45 dbA so a little under your target which will mean less air changes per hour but out of budget at $499 but you could wait to pick up on sale next prime day - $345 on sale price. For $310 can get you two Winix 5500-2 and you could run both on a fan speed less than 45 dBA and have 274 cfm which is very close to the target. Best option would be the Clean Air Kits - luggable XL7 as a kit which provides 259 cfm at 38.8 dBA which shows the power of the new PC fan kits when accounting for CADR at lower sound levels and is $227 so under the $250.

    Hi, is the only difference between the SE and the S version the colour? Do you still get the 4 x Carbon De-odorising Filters with S version? Just starting to learn about this stuff and I'm keen on the Merv 13 high CFM approach. I live in a typical British 3 bedroom house. Can I get away with a couple of these, maybe one upstairs and one down? Or do I need one in all 5 rooms (lounge, kitchen-diner, 3 bedrooms)? Brownian motion suggests pollutants should even out. But has it been tested?

      Generally reccomend getting devices for each room but really depends on the layout on your home. I have larger devices in hallways that provides support for the middle of the house and then smaller sized ones in the rooms. A more open plan layout could benefit from less units but I like to have one in every bedroom that are used as doors are often closed.

      @@HouseFresh thanks for the tips. Maybe something like a Clean Air Kits Exhalaron would work for smaller rooms.

    I have measured the PM0.3 removal efficiency of IQ Air Health Pro 250, Smartmi P1, Phillips 4000i + IKEA Förnuftig. Running them with a surrounding particle concentration of PM2.5 12+ MICROGRAM/ sq M and only IQ air was able to filter 100% ( and I was impressed). Phillips 4000i was about 98,87% efficient, IKEA Förnuftig about 98,4%, Smartmi 99,82% Only IQ air and Smartmi have HEPA13 filter. I used Temtop Airing 2000 handheld particle counter to measure the efficiency. However moving just 3-5 cm away from the air purifiers particles are present in the air.

      Interesting experiment were you looking at measurments over time or just the the air that is leaving the device? It does make sense that you would see such high % with the IQAir as it has very good first pass filtration levels.

    To have such a massive drop in performance without the ionizer the filter efficiency must be terrible! Merv 13 filters have around 75% efficiency at 0.3 microns but they still clear the air quickly. I dread to think what the efficiency of Blueair filters are. 🙈 To me it feels like Blueair are cheating.

      Can you test a Coway Airmega 400? They have been as low as $342 here in the USA.

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 5 дней назад

      Yes it must be a combination of a much lower grade filter so they can increase air flow. I know that many other brands felt that they were cheating as they felt CADR unfairly benefited this approach over more mechnical filtration.

    Hello, thanks for the detailed review! I can see that your have a clean air kit unit on one of your shelf. I don't have any purifier at my house and researching right now, debating between a kit with merv filters above 13 and a "regular" air purifier. I have seen multiple videos and read reviews, and I get different opinions all claiming to be true, of course. I like the idea of a silent air filtering system and I'm not quite sure HEPA is really necessary to filter fine particles (particularly aftermaths of wildfires, asbestos, lead, etc). I live in LA, and even thought I'm 17 miles from the fires, I know my lungs are sufferings, not necessarily from the smoke but of what is left in the air, ergo fine particles. We are all scared here, not sure how long those particles will stay in the air. Would you recommend a winix 5500-2, or the new 5510, or a luggable 5 sickleflow kit with merv filters (they are more expensive then a winix so I'm not sure what to do). I have a 1 bedroom bungalow, 600 sqft , and hoping to use my unit in the living room, during the day and in the bedroom during the night to avoid buying two for now. I also have jealousy windows so the house isn't completely airtight. Help! You seem to know what you're talking about. Thank you!

    • @HouseFresh
      @HouseFresh 5 дней назад

      As it's your first air purifier go for the 5500-2 its should be cheaper and has really good value filters. I'm a big fan of the Winix 5500-2 so I am sure it will help you a lot - I have a review on here if you want to check it out: ruclips.net/video/2REsGL_5TEU/видео.html I also updated our web review today: housefresh.com/winix-5500-2-review/
