I got mine yesterday. The all black. I'm madly in love with it. Couldn't believe the quality and aesthetics. Everything is so crisp. The bracelet is killer and so comfortable. I love that the dial isn't cluttered with text. Just the Seiko and Prospex logos. My only small gripes are the depth of the date window, the width of the clasp and that the end links don't exactly look designed for this case, though they do look cool. But those are minor things I can live with. On the whole, it's a fine watch with a unique character that I feel is worth the money. And it is a strap monster!

The Daytona wasn't a wholly original design when it was released, and so many three-dial sports chronos could be dubbed a Daytona homage. If you love it, job's a good 'un!.

@@simonbailey2151 I have had the PD version for about a year. Like many PDs, the bracelet isn't great and I swapped it out right away and I like the watch quite a bit.
I think it's a case of most B&W, three-dial, sporty chronographs looking similar, at a glance. It's the details that set them apart, and the Seiko Speedtimer obviously has a different enough design from the Daytona. You do a good job of pointing out the differences. I do appreciate the nickname "Seitona, though. Any little jab at the Rolex crowd is OK in my book. 😁

The watch is okay, but only after buying it I found out what problems this watch has with water resistance. Will be my only Invicta. And the Seiko in the video is certainly of a different quality than Invicta.
Once in a while A watch nut comes across a watch that occupies his thoughts and he can’t sleep at night until he gets one, like my seiko baby tuna, or my Seiko SPB187 and the flight master SNA411 and NOW this SSC813 it’s a vicious cycle and there’s only one way to get over it 😀 I’m a new subscriber and I’m glad to have found your channel thanks for this review

I like it I am also cheap so maybe it will go on sale somewhere? Sbpy119 seiko spirit smart is my only experience with a Seiko chronograph. For sub $300 you get solar, sapphire and a comfortable but nasty folded link bracelet.

Nice review. Of all these new Speedtimer's it seems this one is the star. Though I prefer automatics, I don't have a solar in the collection, and this watch would be a good addition. The only design-related question I have is why is the date window not evenly positioned between the 4 and 5 o'clock indices?

I've got the sb031. It's pretty similar and I think it was 120 bucks. And it has the meca quartz. This new one is pretty cool but it's not 5 times cooler than the one I already have.
it suits your wrist so well... it looks kinda top heavy, a bit tall... but question about the bezel - is it pvd/paint or is it some ceramic coating on it? in a long run i think that would be the first thing that takes the day-to-day beating, especially with cut slope shape...
Good video...San Martin has just released their version of this...offering a white or black dial. If I were to choose I'd go with SM just given Seiko's QC issues...

I watched the entire video hoping to see the chrono second hand moving. Not to be found except during the lume shot where is is not easy to tell the type of sweep. You also did not mention the action of the chrono pushers.

So that hand is completely adjustable when the crown is pulled so that you can get it perfectly centered. If it was off in the video it was from me playing with it. It's perfect now.

Not pointing fingers, but these comparisons with Daytona as a homage or something seem so superficial. What Daytona has to be so special except for a normal style and utterly weird price tag?
I'd like to see this one side by side with a Bulova Lunar Pilot. I have a 7.25 inch wrist too, and the way my Lunar Pilot wears, I don't see 5.5 mm difference in width (and 6.6 mm difference lug to lug), compared to this Seiko on you. The Lunar Pilot has the tachymeter ring under the crystal, the dial is all black, the case is quite rounded off, and also the lugs drop away very quickly. Maybe those all make it wear smaller. (Both have 20 mm lugs and both are the same thickness.)
Of course its not a Daytona rip off. Thats just silly. At this point Seiko has pretty much done all designs there is. But IF you would compare I think an older referense like the 6263 Daytona is more suitable. Last but not least watches get hype way too easy these days and often for the wrong reason.
The mocking dorky voiced "spec sheet checklist" in the intro was a nice touch--suppose that it isn't always important--better to throw one's money away on "awesomeness" (cue mocking dorky voice) at least once, right?

As I anticipated, the secondary market is already heating up on this piece. There's currently 1 US seller asking $1600, (and don't forget to add the $10 for shipping)--completely bonkers
if u wanna homage to daytona , maybe ok to get this but there are other chronographs by seiko who can function better with a hour chronograph subdial and not just like this with 24 hour indicator (not really for time measurement) but just to tell PM or AM . alot of chronographs also cannot measure more than 1 hour , which render them practically useless after 30mins or 60mins. some rolex homages are also rip offs and not really functional as chronographs. the subdial for minutes dont even have individual minute markings! but 5 min interval markings.!
I saw this in person earlier, as a Seiko fan and a Rolex owner, this speed timer is for me an easy pass. Not because it’s looks like a homage watch but because it’s too thick for a 39mm case size. I’ll stick with my spb149 with for me the best modern seiko watch made.
This is in no way a Daytona homage or replica. They’re nothing alike. Sounds like the Rolex fanboys need to justify the existence of the overpriced status symbol that is a Daytona. This Seiko is worth every penny of the price having a good solar quartz movement, good bracelet and clasp and finally a sapphire crystal. Can’t wait to get my filthy hands on one of these….

Not in this case, regular quartz chronos can run multiple ticks per second. The giveaway here is the lack of flyback reset.

I saw this in person earlier, as a Seiko fan and a Rolex owner, this speed timer is for me an easy pass. Not because it’s looks like a homage watch but because it’s too thick for a 39mm case size. I’ll stick with my spb149 with for me the best modern seiko watch made.

Why so thick for a quartz?
This is in no way a Daytona homage or replica. They’re nothing alike. Sounds like the Rolex fanboys need to justify the existence of the overpriced status symbol that is a Daytona. This Seiko is worth every penny of the price having a good solar quartz movement, good bracelet and clasp and finally a sapphire crystal. Can’t wait to get my filthy hands on one of these….

No matter what anyone thinks ,...its a daytona ripoff.period.looks nice but anyone buying this is wishing for a rolex if they are honest with themselves.
