    I LOVE the idea that Strong Bad's beloved first computer is actually Homestar's garbage❤️
    There is such a fascinating dynamic between those two characters--they practically define the term "frenemies".
    Plus, no matter how amazingly stupid Homestar is, or how often SB appears to come out on top, somehow Homestar always stays one step ahead of his "rival"...
    Strong Bad said it all in sbemail 124 "Secret Recipes":
    "It's like: even when we win, he wins..."

    • @andysokal1564

      It did indeed last 40 emails. However in email 34 he used the cheats computer because his computer exploded in email 33. He got it back to work in email 35 and it lasted till email 40 cause he threw it away in email 41 for the compy. At the time that was only 39 emails it lasted. However it came back in email 159 retirement for one last Email bringing the email total on the Tandy up to 40.

    • @robbiewalker2831
      @robbiewalker2831 4 года назад

      Andy Sokal At least it’s makes sense, because Strong Bad was borrowing the Cheat’s computer before using the Tandy again, in which he accidentally deleted an important email. And to anyone who saw the “Lady...ing” email, what if Strong Bad fabricated the entire email, because he’s too lazy to answer it himself? Not to mention, why answer the email in a wrestling ring?

    • @riverscuomo7140
      @riverscuomo7140 4 года назад +2

      Wait, didn't Strong Bad technically check 2 emails in "sisters?"
      HUGE EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION AND STATS:
      So in Email 41, the Tandy is replaced, making it 40 checked emails, right? Well, here are some stats on that.
      Strong Bad checks Homestar's response to his forwarding of the scam email in SBEmail 12, Credit Card. +1
      Strong Bad actually checks 5 emails in SBEmail 20, Spring Cleaning. +5
      Strong Bad doesn't check an email on the Tandy at all in SBEmail 24, The Bird, instead using Pom Pom's phone. -1
      The Tandy technically explodes in Gimmicks, email 33, which makes it 38 emails checked before it goes bust.
      There is one SBEmail before he repairs the Tandy, Weird Dream, on the Cheat's computer.
      Sisters contains 2 checked emails. Then, there's 5 more 1-email episodes, ended with Vacation, which is followed by Strong Bad replacing the Tandy with the Compy, which is 45 emails checked with the Tandy in all, not including the last email he checked on it, in the SBEmail "retirement," 159.

    When you think about it, it makes sense that Homestar’s smarter here. The style indicates this takes place during the early days of the site, when Homestar’s defining character trait wasn’t his sheer idiocy.

    You know since Matt went through the effort of trying to sound like the older version of Homestar Runner seen in the earlier shorts and cartoons on the site I always wondered why he didn't bother trying to have strong Bad sound like his classical self with the much more heavier accent. I mean he was able to do that with "Lady...ing" so it's not like he's incapable of doing that voice again so why not go full in in trying to capture the old style?

    • @Umprella
      @Umprella 3 года назад +1

      I wondered that too. My thinking is that Matt’s ability to perform the old SB accent had deteriorated by this point, and rather than turn in a poor imitation he thought it would be better to not attempt it at all. Not what I would’ve done, but it at least makes some sense - that accent is hard to keep up for long periods of time.

    Honestly, Melonade powdered throat closers is probably one of my favorite Homestar jokes for how it just comes out of nowhere, is treated like a normal thing, is never explained, makes no sense and I checked and it doesn't even seem to be poking fun at any actual real thing like you'd expect. It just leaves you with so many questions, like what the crap is a powdered throat closer? What does it do exactly? How does it do it? Did it just literally close Homestar's throat? What is the positive or enjoyable effect of it? What is the point? Is it meant to be like a drug? Is it medicinal? Why is it being produced by a drink company when they seem to produce zero other non-drink products? Why is it the only one of the Melonade products Homestar actually uses to demonstrate? What the hell is wrong with the Melonade guys? Did Homestar have to do it contractually, or did he just decide to just use it of his own choice? The longer you think about it, the less sense it makes, and for that it is quite possibly one of the most finely crafted throwaway jokes I've ever seen.

    • @drdca8263
      @drdca8263 3 года назад +1

      I think the idea is that it is like one of those powdered drink mixes, except you don't mix it, and just pour it down your throat . Like, some people might try to do that with the actual powdered drink mixes (like coolaid or lemonade mixes), and uh, similar results?
      But then in this case, that's the actual intended use of the thing.
