    I had a similar problem on my
    2.0 Di , same noise losing power etc , turned out to be the
    EGR valve , cheap fix and vans sweet again...👍

    Run a diagnostic. P1049 Fuel Timing Error will be the fuel timing solenoid

    Also interested in what the end solution/problem was? About to buy one that sounds like this. Mechanic says its a diesel pump problem. But it sounds to me almost like piston slap, or loose rockers.

      Matthew Dundon loose rockers 100%

    i bet the rockers have came slack! or timing selonoid. these engines are solid if treated right and can do over 300k miles if looked after

    Hello, did you solve the problem or find out what it was because mine is doing the exact same thing? Thought it was the EGR valve so I fitted a blanking plate but made no difference.
    Thanks
    2006 Ford Transit 2.4 diesel

      If its knocking and smoking. It will be down to a faulty injector. Also when you do an oil change cut the old oil filter open. You will know if you have an engine problem because once you cut the filter open you will see if theres metal bits inside. If theres none. Its down to injectors, injector seal

    can someone please tell me where the hose from the EGR goes. I can see that it goes to the firewall, but where ?

      Egr pipe goes round the back of the engine to the exhaust manifold.

    Did anyone find the problem

      Well I fixed the knocking by changing the harmonic balancer (crank pulley) but mine is mk 7 2.4.. still have not fixed a screaming sound and the smell of exhaust. I thought it was one problem but looking like it is two. Mine is not smoking

      Screaming sound when accelerating usually main bearings on con rod.

      Xxblondiful the turbo pipe will be off

    • @cashmeoutsidehowbowdah2749
      @cashmeoutsidehowbowdah2749 7 лет назад +1

      It would only be turbo related if its blue or white smoke. If its black smoke its an injector fault
