Ha, ha, thanks! I'm aware it's possible to buy for as low as 2000 (in ultimate talkie) but it always struck me as odd that they went to the effort of letting you negotiate him down that far - after all it has zero impact on the rest of the game...
Yeah this version has a lot of tweaks like let you play with the new music in the old version as well, spiffy the dog close up etc. Not to mention you can run it on pretty much any platform you want.
Thanks for the quality upload, had a very specific question. At 3:30 when your talking to Spiffy and it has the original close-up! Where can I get my game to look like this because in the Ultimate Talkie patch with SE I always get the graphic from the new art style. Its a minor detail, and I know they had to cut the close-up in the original release to save disk space but I always wondered if there was some method of re-adding it?
Long answer... This is provided in Ultimate Talkie. You can use CTRL+p to toggle between the two Spiffy portraits. You can also use CTRL+a to toggle the narrator voice and CTRL+q toggles the subtitles between original text and match voice acting. However there's a big BUT... ScummVM has a long-standing bug where key combinations don't actually work. :( This has been broken for over 2 years: bugs.scummvm.org/ticket/10644 So if you are desperate to this this in action, you'll have to download an older version of ScummVM: 1.9.0. This is the last version before the bug was introduced. You can get it at downloads.scummvm.org/frs/scummvm/1.9.0/ Hope that was helpful!

You can actually screw yourself over in part 2 of this game. If you use every item that you can in the pot. Then when you need something to burn the rope of the cannon with, you'll be stuck in limbo. Still, not quite on the same level that Sierra would screw you over in their games though.
There's actually a way out of that situation. Guybrush won't burn the dancing lessons/treasure map or let you put it in the pot. But once you reach Monkey Island, he will let you burn the dancing lessons with the unique dialogue "On second thoughts they're only dancing lessons" I'm not sure if that was a fix introduced in the VGA version, or if it was always the case.
I always wondered what would happen if you managed to randomly guess the combination for the safe and pick up the note of credit before the part of the game that it was needed, then get the storekeeper to open the safe later on in the game. Or, if you could get the combination from the storekeeper of a particular play-through, then by going back to a previously saved file of the same play-through, try using the same combination. It would probably just glitch the game out or something.
My guess would be the game doesn't generate the correct combination until you ask for the credit note for the first time. But an interesting experiment!
@@THESCUMMBAR I tried it out as I was curious lol. You can actually get the note before it's needed in the game.
