6:56 The Beacon Was turned off by another salvage team that got infected and recovered the Nostromo Blackbox and took it to a space station where Amanda Ripley went to recover in the Game Alien Isolation .But the colony was put there to find the ship anyway and not to terraform by the Company as they believed
The main point of hyper sleep is to keep the crew from wasting supplies. You would need months or years of extra food and if you find a broken down ship you would never be able to keep everybody alive till they get back to earth unless you are growing food on the ship which would require it to be massive.
Second, people going crazy or getting in fights, running down equipment, ect would all become problems.
Best for everybody to go to sleep and wake up an hour before you are needed to analyze and prepare for the operation then go back to sleep and wake up home with lowest amount of waking hours possible.
Even if the trip only took two weeks it would be better to have people go to sleep to conserve supplies.

On an Aliens reunion panel show (with all main cast members from Frost to Ripley including Bill Paxton and Carrie Henn) he said it was his sister who cheered his death and she hit him in the chest when Burke tried have Newt and Ripley implanted.

@@YouMeTheMovies Mr. & Mrs. be certain/sure 2 sometime play entire Alien Isolation game which is strictly single player that takes between events of Alien, Aliens in Alien Sci-fi Horror Franchise as well as play entire Alien Colonial Marines game which has multiplayer Co-Op story mode that takes place between events of Alien 3, Alien 4 of Alien Sci-Fi Horror Franchise! Plus in Alien Colonial Marines y'all can expand your weapons options by unlocking all weapons as well as upgrade either all of your weapons or some of them by unlocking various weapon attachments 4 them making them better than be4 that ch'all can even switch them (firearms & upgrades: firearm attachments) back & forth throughout the whole game after y'all unlocked them depending on what ch'all are up against/dealing with in each level/mission! And Alien Colonial Marines is a great way 4 Mrs. Movie 2 get back at/get even with the Xenomorphs after all the times they scared her real good!

@@jaredwiggins539 Alien Isolation is a masterpiece, the best sequel that Alien ever got. However, if this woman can't even handle watching Aliens, there's no way she'll get past the first mission of Alien Isolation. I'm a massive fan of the franchise and even I had trouble getting past some parts of that game, I've finished it 4 times now (twice on hard) but the first playthrough was rough lol. She won't be able to appreciate that game though

Lance Henriksen was supposed to do it on himself, but they decided to prank Bill Paxton by doing it on him, so his scream of terror is legit 😂😂🤣
However they DID speed up the film during that scene. You can tell by the people in the background at the table moving absurdly fast.

After watching a couple of your reactions, I must say how impressed I am with your husband's ability to watch a movie with you (that he's seen before) and refrain from giving anything away, quoting lines, etc. I lack that ability and I think his silence makes for a better first time viewing experience for you. He's just there to silently absorb your comments.

Actually the Extended version is the original version. A month before the movie was released, Fox told James Cameron to cut 40 minutes from the movie because they found it boring and the audience wouldn't like it. At release tgis movie became the best movie of all times and made record gains. About a month later James Cameron released the Extended Edition in theaters and people loved that even more.
Wow.. So Fox was right for a change?! :-)
Sigourney might've lost the Oscar she rightfully deserved because of the studio
The extended version was definitely better.
If you know the history of both Alien and Aliens behind the scenes then you know there ate times when a studio steps in to make changes for the better. Looking at you Ridley Scott trying killing off our hero at the end of the first film.

I know I’m reviewing this a year after you filmed it, but thought it was worth mentioning that I read that Paul Reiser’s mother came to the premier of this film. When Paul Reiser’s character was killed, his mother cheered and applauded. I love that.
I started laughing like a madman when Mrs. said "It's gotta be a little funny if Paul Reiser's in it" and from then on I was eagerly awaiting her reaction to Burke's backstabbery. Great video, guys.
Well the Marines have some great one lines so yes there are funny moments.
Carrie Henn's first ever role and did fantastically as Newt, she never did any other acting again until last year (which was voice work)

By how she reacted to Aliens, James Cameron's "True Lies" (1994) might be more up her alley. Not scary at all, but packs a punch with proper action, suspense and slick comedic elements with plenty of sarcasm and dark humour. It's a true family movie...in more ways than one! ^^

"Why would you leave if you had a daughter on Earth?" That's a good point. Did a little math and her daughter would've been eleven when the first movie's events took place. From what I recall from the dialog, space travel takes *months.* That's a long time to be away. I know
military personnel get long tours away from family, too, but it's still a valid point.

Romancing the Stone would be a good one if you guys haven't watched that one. I'm not a romcom fan but Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner are so good together in that.
Another great (and not scary or bloody) Cameron movie is "The Abyss". Definitely in top 3 of his movies.

After watching many of your videos over the months I decided to go back to the beginning and watch the ones that I had not watched before. I’m glad I did because this has been my favourite reaction.

This movie really dors give you a sense of dread and that all hope is lost. Alien and Aliens have brilliant execution when it comes to the fear factor.

Sigourney was the first actor in history to make One Million smackers and it was for this movie. I also think she got an Oscar for it.
🎬Marlon Brando made 4 million starring in only 12min of Superman '78 and Gene Hackman made 2 million as well. So many other actors made a million "smackers" long before Sigourney. Where did you learn about film history...

🎬At the time Brando said he was done w/Hollywood and the so called "white man's world" because of the way they had treated Native-Americans. He sent a NA to give his acceptance speech for BA via "The Godfather".
🎬At the time, he was the biggest actor in Hollywood (Box-Office) and Warner Bros. were desperate for a marquee actor to give some legitimacy to Superman, who unlike comic book movies today, was still viewed as just a comic book. Back then only B-movie actors touch that kind of material. The same kind of sweat even brewed over Batman '89 ala Jack Nicholson.
🎬Most of the 4 mil may have been from the sales. However, he was guaranteed, upfront, by contract one way or another. That payment structure wasn't unusual back then, it was rather common place. Besides, as I first stated, there were many other actors as well.
🎬If you know anything about H'Wood, there was no way in hell they would give a female actress (or black actor) that kind of payday without the expectation of opening a Pandora's box with regard to all the white male leads of the time. Just ain't happening!

Lol, dude you stressed the hell out of your wife with this great movie.
The Special Edition also adds the part about Ripley's deceased daughter, which many feel adds to the bond that develops between her and Newt. Another major addition is the automated sentry guns. While not necessary to the narrative, these sentry gun scenes add to the feeling of hopelessness and being overwhelmed by numbers, because dozens of Aliens or Xenomorphs must have been killed, but there are always more and they just keep coming.
Watching the wife slap the hubby.. priceless!
the part where Bishop had the knife, they didn't tell Bill Paxton that he was gonna do that. His Panic was real.

This absolutely terrified me and gave me night terrors as a young teenager. I'd be lying in bed sweating, staring at the ceiling imagining how it would feel to be one of those colonists in the walls, watching everyone I know and love die in absolute agony whilst feeling this thing growing inside of me.
Took me years to work though that.
Man, she's missing some iconic imagery closing her eyes every 2 minutes. Just power through it, it's not even that bad lol
I know right! Like to me, this is the greatest movie I've ever seen! Well as a matter of fact I'm a huge Sci-fi movie buff.........but even as a movie this is an absolute masterpiece!
That clip of the Alien coming out of the water behind Newt got a standing ovation at the Oscars, it was crazy for a technical category award.

You guys should revisit this movie. It is a masterclass in filmmaking, I have seen it over 50 times. My first time was from a hole through my blanket and between my fingers. I was 5 or 6, I thought it was happening inside a giant submarine.

The abyss definitely IS scary at points - especially for people who have a fear of deep water like I do.. It's not bloody or gory though. Still an amazing movie and gets my recommendation as well.
Michael Biehn (Hicks) excellent in that too & Terminator. Why was that man never given a really big role.

Ah! My favorite sci fi movie of all time!! Aliens! It is fantastic!!
When I saw this in the theater, I was sweating bullets! Great Noice from the crowd. Some movies would inspire a reaction.
Three comments:
1) The Newt acress is now a school teacher, having quit her actor gig. Sometimes she signs copies of the movie for students, parents etc.
2) Cameron wanted to film the military SF book Starship Troopers. When he couldn't, he made another movie about space marines against bug monsters - this one.
3) The sailor poker scene in the Sulaco was played exactly as filmed. Paxton's reaction was genuine, as Hendricksen was playing a very sharp knife between his fingers at that speed. I'm surprised that he didn't need to change pants after filming it. I would.
With regards to how she knows how to drive the loader, it's not a spoilers anymore but:
"Hey, Ripley you can't fly one of these too, can you?"
"Are you kidding? This piece of shit's older than me."

One the best 'director's cut' movies ever, the extra scenes do so much to build the universe.
This is my favorite movie. It has everything in it.
Coming back to this years later. I totally get it why you're still online. Wifey's reactions and comments are EPIC! In balance, I didn't hate this movie. Much like most of everyone else, I love it. It's an awesome, albeit petrifying, action movie. And Ripley is the GOAT.

Alien and Aliens were creepy for me as a kid , living in the woods , long sailing voyages pre-internet , pre-cell, knew your place vs nature. So the dangers of being stranded in space and a hostile animal seemed palpable to me + the unknown. Later on I was more fascinated by the retro-tech , gothic cybernism of Gieger , world building.

You also forgot to say Sigourney Weaver got nominated for Best Actress for an Oscar for this movie. That's a pretty huge detail to leave out before watching the movie
I saw this in the theater when I was in high school. I watched Alien the week before, and was a bit worried because that scared the hell outta me.

When if comes to James Cameron, always go Special Edition. This is one of the most intense movies ever.
You guys should watch the Hellraiser movies. The actor in Aliens who plays Gorman is in Hellraiser 2 which is why I’m mentioning it.
But the effects are great especially in Hellraiser 2
