The best trivia from this film was that Paul Riser brought his mother to the premier, and she cheered when his character died. That is how well he played being despicable.
Thats a fun fact... Ive watched all of his stand up when he was younger on HBO.
"This is not my movie!"
I once played a little role in a short film. It was shown at a short film festival. And when I got smacked with a pan in the face on screen everybody cheered. I really liked it.
Can anyone tell me what is the name of these 2 movies? I cannot find them because i don't know their names or names of their actors. 1. First movie was from 1980's, 90's, its about aleins that came to earth and taking human form. Special agents with big silver guns searching for this aliens. I remember clearly this scene that scared me so much.. a girl sneak peeking in this school's classrooms, to see unusual behaviors, so she sees through a door glass.. a bald teacher writing something on a board, then turns his head and looks at her with a very scary look. This movie is not " Men in black ", not a " Faculty " movie either. 2. Second movie is about this guy that was made out of every human skin and organs possible, he had black skin, white, yellow, etc... he tries to escape from a big hospital-laboratory where his like in jail... a doctor that made him calls him Adam, beautiful creation. This man gets dreams and memories of different people, manages to escape from this laboratory. This movie is not a Frankenstein.
He did not die in that scene, he was cocooned in the Director cut
Sigourney Weaver certainly showed us that she earned her first Oscar nomination from this sci-fi sequel masterpiece.
After that, Galaxy Quest. Woman has range!
@@jowesterman6476Range = more cleavage
@JordanCesaroni add to that how rare it is for a sci fi performance to gain that type of attention ! 👏
the whole cast does a stellar job in what is still one of the best sci -fi /action thrillers of all time .
so glad Mr and MRS Movies watched this JAMES CAMERON classic again . great reaction as usual .
CHEERS . 😀📽🎬
Bill Paxton is one of those rare actors that make me love to hate a character in their arrogance then laugh my ass off and love 'em when they switch to panicking.
He was fantastic in frailty.
He plays the electronic warfare/intel guy. As a former electronic warfare/intel guy, I can confirm that he nailed the role.
A simple plan, Frailty, True Lies, & All you need is Kill. certified classics
"Game over!"
How about a greasy pork sandwich served on a dirty ashtray?
One of my favorite sequels of all time. The last 45 minutes are heart pounding and absolutely thrilling.
The rigs those guns are mounted on are actually steadicams. Which is cool and funny at the same time, those things don't come cheap, ultra expensive kitbash.
Fun fact: This was Carrie Henn's (Newt) only ever film performance. I'd say she nailed it and then thought "Done that" and moved on.
I was pissed what happened to her at the start of 3.
@@TheCrazyCanuck420 alien 3 underrated movie. You gotta get the right cut, think its special edition or something.
It’s a huge letdown to have the third movie undo the triumph of the second movie. It ruins the story. That’s why I consider all of the sequels to be fanfic and ignore them. This is the last movie in the series as far as I’m concerned.
@@oscardiggs246 watch the assembly cut. If you are a true fan, you will understand.
She was mostly done with acting…mostly
Fun fact: Vasquez is played by the same actress that played young John Connor's foster mother in Terminator 2.
Aliens is to Alien as Godfather II is to Godfather I. Think whatever you want about which one is better, but those are some damn fine movies and sequels.
You say: Still scarier than the original.
I say: Still a better love story than "Twilight."
true, but also the lowest of bars :D
That's not saying much
I chocked on my beer saying "TWILIGHT?!", WTF?
I love watching this movie over and over again and the Alien Queen's badass.
What a witty and original comment 🙄
Love Ripley’s beast mode in the nest at the end. She’s so fucking angry. Absolutely no fear left in her at that moment.
One of my favorite moments of this movie was when Hudson got a Big Brain moment when figuring out how the Xenos worked. He compared them to an ant colony, (though he got them mixed up with bees when he said 'hive' instead of 'colony') all working together under one Queen who gives them orders. Shows that he's more than just a soldier.
The worst part about the whole first encounter scene is that suppressing fire doesn’t work against an enemy that doesn’t care if it dies. The guy clearly was going off military academy teachings which were all human on human.
Oh my god, that smirk the Mrs. gets when the xenomorph gets Burke! Scary!!! 😂
Funniest comment: "That's like you yelling for me to get in the car." I couldn't stop laughing. :)
They couldn’t claim salvage because a human being was in the ship, thus it wasn’t abandoned
Yes, the "Smart Guns" were mounted on a camera stabilizing rig called the Steadicam. Cameron was a tech/gun nerd in those days.
9:36 "I just dislike rain. Like _being_ in it..."
"Really? I like rain. It's peaceful."
"I like _watching_ rain. I like it when it rains and I don't have to go outside."
"Okay. You just hate _bein'_ in the rain?"
"Just... having to go outside when it's raining. It's, like, _cold_ and _gloomy._ I'd much rather it be snowing."
Ah. You have not yet experienced the rain in _Hawaii._ Curiously enough, it's warm. It's still gloomy, but it's warm.
Remember actor Bill Paxton is Colonial Marine Hudson in this movie. He's the one that says, "Game over man, game over." He was also in The Terminator. He was one of the punkers with the spiked hair. And he was the young hotshot detective in Predator 2. His characters get killed by an alien xenomorph, a Terminator, and a Predator. What a lucky guy to play these characters! Lol. 👏
Actor Michael Biehn plays Corporal Hicks in this movie. He also played Sgt Kyle Reese assigned to protect Sarah in The Terminator. 👍 -OG
Not sure if I put this on your other videos, but I love dropping this every time I can: Bill Paxton is the only person killed by a Xenomorph, a Predator, and a Terminator. 😀
In hockey terms, a Bill Paxton hat-trick.
@TheCrazyCanuck420 Dude....adding that to ALL future call outs...well played, my friend!
When I was little, I used to use my GI Joes to re-create this scenario, lol oh good times
This movie was so awesome on a huge screen with the loudest surround. I must’ve gone to see it in theaters 10 times in 1986. I was 17 and worked next to a huge theater in Manhattan. Surprised that they rereleased Alien several times, but this one hasn’t, near me anyway.
I always laugh at the price tag for the Nostromo! $42 mil??????? We have ships and planes that are way more expensive.
Great reaction! ❤❤
Quick Trivia: Daniel Spunkmeyer(co-pilot of the Marine Dropship) was played by Daniel Kash-- who among other roles also played unethical Earther Doctor, Antony Dresden, in the Scifi TV show, The Expanse.
"Yeah, Bishop should go, good idea!" 😂
Burke sent the colonists to the planet long before they found Ripley. If I recall, even in the first movie the corporation knew there was something on that planet, which is why they were sent there, and only Ash knew the truth, whereas the crew figured it was just a sudden detour.
Great sequel. "Get away from her you bitch!!" One of my favorite lines.
The best time I ever had with this movie over the dozens of times I’ve seen it, was talking with a girlfriend while she was watching the movie in real-time.
I could hear where she was in the movie, and without blinking an eye, quoted “Looks like love at first sight to me! Oh, he likes you, Burke!”
Seconds later, I hear the high pitched scream.
0:35 nice save mr! Lol
Never seen someone shove their foot in their mouth like that since.... my dad 😀
Fun fact: the oldest domestic cat on record was Crème Puff from Austin Texas who lived from 1967 to 2005 - 38 years!
Giving Ripley the nightmares issue is good writing, making it believable for her to go back.
I love how when Ripley goes down to save Newt the pipes are glowing red hot. It's such a thoughtful set design detail to show how the reactor cooling system is on its last legs.
25:09
"I want to introduce you to a personal friend of mine. This is my BOOM STICK!!!!!"
I love that Mrs. Movies has seen this before, yet the movie still makes her recoil at the alien scenes. :D
The steady cam was designed after this film. They used the body device that held the big guns as the inspiration. The cams on the helmets was an inspiration. Vasquez was one of the first female characters in a combat Marine squad, not as a joke but an equal.
The Hospital Corpman was also Female, as was the Pilot.
"Queen's pissed" - Well OF COURSE! It's under pressure. "dumdi-di-di-dum-di-di-du-ddum... under pressure"
When sigourney pulled newt out of the goop she really shredded her hands in the queen's lair. Tough lady
The thing to remember is, in the intervening years between the movies aliens and alien 3, The continuing adventures of Hicks, Newt and Ripley were already established and documented in the official licensed comics and novels.
Alien 3's content can quite easily Be written off as a hyper sleep induced nightmare.
Can anyone tell me what is the name of these 2 movies? I cannot find them because i don't know their names or names of their actors. 1. Kudos to being the first I've heard ask this question: What would an omelet made from those eggs taste like? 🤣🤣
Being a mom I knew this one was gonna hit home for her.
"would the aliens ignore bishop?" Yes as a matter of fact they would! Theres a missing extended scene you can find on youtube where they talk about how in the novelization of this movie he does in fact have a run in with an alien while crawling through the tunnel. Basically what you assumed, but better explained in the books/comics/games later on. The xenomorphs see through a kind of sense of smell, humans and other aliens give off their own little aura. Non-biologicals do not, so they can see them and are aware of them but don't quite know what to make of them. Its not alive so they don't bother with trying to take it back to the colony but they also wouldn't ignore it if it was trying to hurt the colony. So, yes bishop was indeed the best and only choice.
In the game series (Alien vs Predator 1&2) while the humans sport a clearly bright and attractive aura color, the androids have only very faint blueish highlights around their bodies. The aliens can tell that androids aren't just pieces of furniture, but usually either ignore or destroy them without giving much more care.
Aliens is my all time favorite! Awesome thrill ride! One of the best squeals. I love the 80s!
Mine too!
Mom vs mom at the end. It's a Mother's Day showdown!
There is a sort of alternative Alien 3 sequel. William Gibson (the father of cyberpunk Sci-Fi) wrote a version of Alien 3 that was never filmed. But it was made into an audiobook on Audible. It has the characters of Bishop, Ripley and Hicks in it. It’s infinitely better than third film.
Added that to my Audible Library, thanks for the recommendation!
@@UNSCPILOT excellent. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
7:15 - cyberdyne not Hyberdine. PLUS... Great observation, Mrs Movie. The set designers created the weapons by cobbling together real arms with camera equipment.
Hyperdyne isn't the company from Terminator. Thats Cyberdyne.
Yeah. It's still a reference/nod to terminator. In in the original script they were supposed to be the same company.
@MrEridzid I thought they both sounded like toothpaste 🤔 oh that's Sensodyne !😅
@YouMeTheMovies dang that would be cool if they had a terminator and alien crossover like in the comics. Maybe one day will see a dred, terminator, alien, predator..
@@nawlsone586only because there is no originality anymore
I have read a theory that, the alien mother didn't immediately kill Riply, and ordered the alien drones to back off, because she recognized that Ripley was already infected (ref: Alien 3).
She was infected after she went into hyper sleep ....so
None of that ever happened, actually. The series ended at Aliens.
Bill Paxton, the only human to fight a Xenomorph, a Predator, and a Terminator. R.I.P.
This was the one that sold me on you guys. In particular starting about 12:10 in the first viewing vid from a year + ago.
I've sent that timecode to friends. "You gotta watch her freak out on this." Mrs Movies has thicker skin now she's been through the movie wringer.
Easily one of my all-time favorites!!! I love the creatures, lore and characters so damn much!! I don't know how many times I've watched the Alien movies as a whole not including the Predator movies which I've also seen multiple times throughout the years.
The paperback novels are just as awesome too.😃👌
Great reaction! The guy who plays Hicks is such a legend, was the love interest for both Ripley and Sarah Connor. PS the company in T2 was Cyberdyne, not Hyperdyne :p
James Cameron's pitch meeting with producers :
1 : He writes "ALIENS" on the blackboard.
2 : He changes it to "ALIEN$".
The directors cut movie has some additional scenes. One of them is automatic guns set up at the entrance going off until the ammo runs out.
Yep. And we watched that two years ago. 😜
It wasn't Hyperdyne, it was Cyberdyne from Terminator, but he did use the -dyne for that reason.
For me, this is was a non-stop roller coaster ride. When I walked out of the theater, my shoulders hurt from gripping both armrests too tightly the entire movie.
Got to see this with my dad and his beer drinking friends opening day at a mall near us. Remember waiting in line forever and then the movie had trouble and had a couple of technical issues they finally worked out ten minutes in. They gave everyone free popcorn and all was well. What an experience as it was nothing like what I thought it would be but in such a good way. Probably helped influenced my decision to go into the military in a subconscious way. Dad did me solid growing up with films.
My favorite of the series.
Being a Former Marine. I like the action and how they interact as a team. Pretty right on. !!!
I was so scared for Ripley when I 1st saw this as a 10 year old kid when the alien was hanging onto her foot I thought her elbow wouldn't be strong enough and it would just break but thank god her shoe came off and the queen flew into space
I have never tied my laces tightly since.. just incase
The best ending of any movies, ever. It's simply perfect. Ripley is such a bada$$.
Great reactionguys. When I see the scene when Ripley is debriefing the board, I read what the woman says about "never before seen in over 300 surveyed worlds" as they haven't come across the organism that Ripley describes and not necessarily never come across a single alien life form ever. Still love this film!
Fun Fact : Mrs Movies is right! When Bishop heads to the uplink tower via the duct, the film novel by Alan Dean Foster has a moment where he passes 2 xenomorphs as a junction and is totally ignored by them presumably due to him being synthetic. 👍
My favourite part is when Mrs Movies is smirking as Burke is killed.
the machine guns are actually made from WW2 german MG42's mounted onto steadycam harnesses and the butt of the gun replaced with a motorcycle handlebar handle modified to function as a trigger.
"Almost like they're cameras" Yep. Those arms are exactly that; repurposed camera rigging.
Happy to see that the Missus now controls herself like a veteran, but still my most beloved part in the first watch (and for this channel as a whole), was when she punched Mr Movies, for him saying that "this one is not so scary". :(
Aaand guess who'll start blasting the ALIENS soundtrack just about... now? :)
This movie ranked at #35 in the 100 scariest movie moments on Bravo, cool reaction as always Mr. & Mrs. Movies, you both have a great weekend
I remember when Siskel & Ebert reviewed this, Gene Siskel actually said "there were just too many aliens." I remember yelling at the t.v. "well it's not called HUMANS!" :D
A company called Hacksmith Industries built a working version of the power loader. They gave it treads instead of legs, but the upper half is pretty much identical to the film version. You can find videos of them building and testing it here on RUclips. It's strong enough to pick up a car.
The arms for the smart guns are actually made from Steadicam hardnesses.
Regarding the pipe that Bishop crawls through, what was it for? They had to cut into the pipe for Bishop to get into it, so how does he get out when he reaches the other end? Is the other end just open? If so, where does it end up? I feel like any waste pit that it might go to would be placed a significant distance from the colony.
In the first movie, the face hugger melted its way through Kane's helmet with acid. Ripley's lucky that the one that jumped on her didn't use acid to burn her hands.
The film won 2/7 Oscars:
Best Visual Effects
Best Sound Editing.
It was nominated for Best Actress, Sigourney Weaver
Best Film Editing Ray Lovejoy
Best Production Design, Peter Lamont
Best Sound Mixing
Best Original Score, James Horner.
It made $190 million dollars ($703 million dollars today) against an $18 million dollar budget.
I remember Ripley catching the tail with the loader and snapping it off too. On the tv version.
The scene when the queens tail comes out of Bishops chest, for a split second when I saw this the first time, I thought he had an alien in him and it was some kind of hybrid hatching from his chest. :D
Bishop is also one of the cops in Terminator.
The actor playing Bishop (Lance Henriksen) has been in so many good movies, it’s ridiculous! He’s even got a tiny part in Dog Day Afternoon! I think I first paid attention to him in Johnny Handsome, with Mickey Rourke. I find his voice very soothing.
Man poor Ripley, you have to think she's the most unlucky woman ever. To survive the first encounter with one Xenomorph only to go back to a planet infested with them, only to [SPOILERS].
survive and escape again, to then crashing on to a planet for male prisoners and a new type of xenomorph and going through all that horror again, to finally die and be at peace JUST to then be cloned and brought back yet again to deal with more Xeno's. Poor woman lol
Talk about a bizarre dream to have while sleeping peacefully with Newt, huh.
IMO considering how smart they are and that they can work together make a lot of them much scarier.
What would one of those eggs taste like?
Like a crab omelet, of course... hahaha
The company in Terminator is "Cyberdyne," not "Hyperdyne." I always wondered though if Aliens was making a callback there.
Seems too likely to be accidental, and the timing certainly makes sense
Iirc a ship has to be completely abandoned to be eligible for salvage, when the crew in the beginning finds Ripley alive, it means they're not allowed to claim it. To answer the question 'can't they still salvage the ship?' in the beginning
14:43 - In fusion reactors (like the one they say they have in the movie), the reactor will just shut down if they shoot at the coolant tanks (or in general if any of the condition for the fusion are disrupted) so they could've kept their ammos.
23:04 - After the director's cut she should know that they can turn people into egg so as far as she knows, that's how they do.
24:42 - They would probably attack it and destroy it. If humans can't recognize androids I doubt xenomorphs can.
38:17 - Ripley is so badass that she's immune from decompression sickness.
In the Alien vs Predator game series you can play as an alien and "see" the world as they do. Humans have very bright and distinct colorful auras, while androids have only a vague blueish outline around them. The xenos can tell actual living beings apart from androids, with the latter being useless to them and thus ignored or destroyed.
the company from The Terminator you mentioned is Cyberdine Sysytems not Hyperdine
21:32 I like how they actually did put Newt in charge. lol
Mrs. movies is on the money about the smart guns being like camera tech, those are steady cam set ups.
Seriously, all they really needed to do for Alien 3 was slightly change the opening so that only Ripley was ejected from the Sulaco onto the prison planet. Hicks and Newt could have just kept on sailing homeward and had their own happy ending, and that film would've been probably much more readily accepted.
Fun Fact: The Aliens franchise is actually in the Blade Runner universe.
.... I'm listening
That would be a pretty neat mix
I find the theatrical cut better because you don't see Newt and her parents earlier so when you first see Newt (when they almost shoot her) it's a bigger shock and reveal. And that earlier scene makes you wonder, How did Newt get back to the settlement? Did she walk? Did she drive the vehicle with her parents facehugged inside? Did she throw her parents out? It's just better with Newt being introduced as she runs across the hall and into the vents.
Her mother didn't get facehugged then. She brought her husband and called for help.
@@VBSuper Oh, ok Thx. I guess I've only ever seen the deleted scenes during reactions and missed that. I still don't like the early reveal of Newt though. And I'm not crazy about the Ripley's daughter part. I understand what they were going for i.e. maternal motivations for Ripley but I just don't think the story needs it. It's paced so much better with quickly getting Ripley and the audience onto the planet and into the action. If you clutter up your first act with a bunch of characters that are never seen again it has the potential of being a Chekhov's unfired gun. But I understand why some like it.
@@robertanderson6929 Well, for pacing, i guess the theatrical is better. But for better understanding of the characters, i like the deleted scenes. For example, we understand why Newt knew so much about navigating through the air ducts. Apparently, she and the other kids used to play there a lot. Yep, both versions have their merits. The Director's Cut is recommended AFTER the theatrical if people want to know more.
One of the greatest sequels ever - equal on par with the original and the stakes only increase with all its jam-packed action and horror. Stan Winston's work is amazing - Queen Takes Bishop *chef's kiss*
This was the first Alien movie I watched and when I went back to the first movie it was good but not as fun as this movie. I watched this way too young, this movie was nightmare fuel 😀
@@TheCrazyCanuck420 I watched Aliens first too.
That being said I had watched it dozens of times before Alien and I had never been scared watching it.
By comparison I was a hair from hiding behind my sofa watching Alien the first time.
I would call Aliens a great action film for sure, but the horror is far too diluted by the action to have anywhere close to the same impact.
There is something to be said for the Hitchcockian style of 'less is more' when showing monsters - the more you show, the less monstrous they become, and Aliens shows us far too much
Btw all the ships the colony had were specifically built to be dismantled upon arrival to help build the cities/terraforming equipment. Kind of ingenius. Although you'd still think they would have one on standby for emergencies XD
Interesting facts about Aliens (1986) (1) Lance Henriksen caught a dose of food poisoning from the milk and yogurt combination that he had to spew up when his chest was pierced by the alien queen's tail. Having this lactose combination sitting around under hot studio lights created a bacterial breeding ground. It started to smell so bad after three days of filming that most crew members got hesitant to go near Henriksen (who reportedly endured the smell and never complained even once). In contrast, the crew of the first Alien (1979) film opted not to use milk for Ash's "death" scene (where he also spews the milky substance out of his mouth) as they recognized a fluid made of milk would go sour under the hot lights. (2) When they have landed and deployed in the troop carrier, Apone tells the Marines they have 10 seconds until they arrive. If you count from here until the first Marine jumps out of the carrier and his boots hit the ground, it really is ten seconds. (3) The full-size queen puppet was actually too big to fit into the elevator. For the shot where she is seen there, her tail was removed, and yet the back of the elevator still had to be opened to accommodate the prop; smoke effects, dark lighting, and a black curtain at the back obscure this. (4) To bring the Alien queen to life would take anything between 14 and 16 operators, since the head, neck, body, legs, face, lips, jaws, and tongue all had to move independently. Stan Winston constructed a mold from fiberglass and foam, which was subsequently dressed with black garbage bags and moved by two puppeteers inside, in order to shoot a test video as proof that such a large creature would be feasible. The fully built animatronic creature was so convincing that Steven Spielberg later enlisted Winston to construct the full animatronic T-Rex for Jurassic Park (1993).
I think Newt was already implemented by a face hugger before Ripley found her sticking to the wall. The illusion was that a face hugger hadn't gotten to her yet when you saw the egg open up with a face hugger. You are led to believe she's still safe. Ripley's mommy instincts preferred to believe that. Then Alien 3 happens. -OG
Take another look at "Alien3" (1992) again, specifically Newt's autopsy. The "doctor" had to cut her skin to "check out the internal organs." No Alien present nor Chestburster action seen, as far as I saw. Turn back to the early part of the movie, where we see what looks like a split-open egg case attached to the bottom of a bulkhead. Newt and Hicks didn't survive planet fall, but it is interesting that the Facehugger was a serial Xenomorph implanter?
@@Otokichi786 Yes, my memory could be faulty. Admittedly, it's been a thousand years since I last watched Alien 3. 🫤 -OG
Mrs. Movie was right on the money in regards to the "Smart Guns". They were built with a modified MG42, mounted to a steadicam harness
This definitely rivals Empire Strikes Back for Great sci-fi sequels.
Agreed, a great time for Scifi in general
On my top 10 list of best movie's of all time Bill Paxton stole the show RIP 💙🙏
Fun fact, Sigourney Weaver detest firearms and needed to be talked into using them, action hero indeed.
I maintain they should have sent a larger unit on the sulaco or at least a dedicated crew for the ship.
Even though I've seen this a lot. When they are closing a pressure door to seal, I know nothing's going to happen but I still expect at least one to pop through the door.
Mr and Mrs movies, have you ever seen Carter burkes (Paul Reiser's) deleted scene? Where you kind of see what happens to him towards the end of the movie. Found it a couple of years ago, was quite interesting.
I just found it & its bad ass maybe if they release this in 4K they can put in another extended cut or something..☮️
Ohh that would be perfect, I wish they kept the scene in the film
@@lucien839 Works better without it. Pacing, plus you already KNEW he was a goner without being explicitly shown. Also, the timing of a chest-burster "birth" doesn't fit. The reactor would have blown LONG before that. Either way, Burke's been emphatically removed from the next census.
They also had good lighting in dark scenes like the first. Which they never done in later films.
If you ever do the third one I recommend y'all watch the assembly cut
The cat would have raced to the litter box, then had a big feed after all that time
You should be in Tucson in the summer when it rains. It's wonderful. Life giving. I used to live in a 4 season state. You take it for granted. 24:25 the first time I saw the movie I thought she forgot her line. I still do. "It's pretty cool they can self deploy these things." This ship is only in orbit (well, not really), we are talking to Perseverance and Ingenuity, which are on Mars, right now. 😁 I'm old and this is IMO one of only 2 sequels that are better than the first. The other being T - 2.
I love all your reaction guys keep it up 🎉 also your wife’s the pale queen 😊
"it's like you yelling at me to get in the car" LOL!!
In the old Aliens RPG, the resin the xenomorphs used to build their hives had electrical signals they could communicate by touching the walls. In the comics, it was more about pheromones for communicating.
"Going HAM on those eggs." LOL
I saw that first reaction. Technically, I don't know if you could say she saw it, with all the Turning of the face and hiding.
