Thanks! I've been eyeing this one as a comparison too. You hit all the points I was asking. There's so much beautiful and quality machining on this one - the case, bracelet and the back are all steps up from the A158.

I have never ever seen this brand in Australia, only seen them on youtube videos from Europe and the US.
However I'm glad you show cased this watch for us to see, it seems really nice and well made.
Very retro looking and I like the display font. Umm the backlight ...... wow that is dreadful

I bought it on Amazon us, and still, with customs and shipping, I paid significantly less than an alla stainless steel Casio.

Another improvement I like is the use of words for "Alarm" and "Chime". Much better and clearer than bell and waves symbols.
Right! They add to the vintage vibe.
Although I must admit that the wave and bell symbols remind me so of my old Casios…
Which brings me to the digits/numbers proportions (a topic we discussed about) : I like more those on the Casios F91 or W59 .

I just got this watch, and I'm quite impressed with it. The only gripe I have is that terrible backlight, like you mentioned. It's practically unusable.

I think that Armitron should spend more time listening to the reviews of the competing watches: the #1 complaint of the F-91W/A158 module (593) is how terrible the backlight is. How could they make it worse??
One of these Rubiks with a decent backlight, even at 5/10 dollars more would really be a winner against the a-158 ! ARMitron should really listen!
Funnily enough once the chronograph reaches 30 minutes the ‘ and “ turn off, the minutes get showed instead of seconds, and seconds instead of centiseconds, so that hours can be displayed (where minutes would originally be). By shifting them this way it can chronograph up to 9h 59m 59s compared to the F91W, A158W, W59 which is 59m 59s

This is a stunning looking digital watch in the vain of the digital heyday. BUT The led display isn't straight. Where's the quality control. C'mon Armitron you've got this half in the bag. Putting out sub pair quality this basic is unacceptable when the competition from Casio is ever present. For the price point its a class act but not addressing these issue will mean sales of product will always be trailing behind Casio even Timex & Lorus. Yeah!
Agreed: Armitron could work a bit on details, such as the one you mentioned and... The light! They have something really good going, with this all-steel models, they could be more competitive! Thanks for this comment!

Why do you use 24 hour time if you just convert it to 12 hour time in your head?
In Italy (where I’m from) people very often use the 24 hour system, so for
me looking at a digital watch with the dial set in 12 hours feels odd after 12-noon.
At the same time, though , I have no problem reading analog watches.
And analog 24-hour watches (those in which noon is where usually 6 is found) are a nightmare for me🤣.

I didn't learn how to use AM-PM until I was a teenager or adult. They don't teach it or use it in countries that don't have British influence. If I see 2:45 PM, I convert it to 14:45 in my head
