    The swimmer logo 🏊‍♀️ is cool. Harkens back to the original Casio swimmers with essentially the same logo.

      Nice, I did not know Casio had an original look that this watch emulated. I do like it though, something so great about those cheesy/corny retro designs I remember growing up as a kid.

      @@degenerateWA absolutely! I’m a sucker for that stuff. The swimmer and the snorkeler were the precursors to the G-SHOCK with the whole water resistance thing. #hugenerd

    Thanks for this review!
    So accurate and detailed, it made me buy one for me!
    A really nice piece: it feels
    So solid with the stainless steel case. And the bracelet is better than that of the Casios A-158 and 168.
    I unboxed an ARMitron Rubik on my channel.

    Great review, I just ordered one! I've always had a soft spot for the vintage Casio Marlin digitals and have wondered why casio had yet to reintroduce a solid stainless retro digital for decades (instead of sticking to the chromed plastic).
    Looks like Armitron beat them to the punch, and I gladly paid the $55. Casio probably would've charged $200 for some limited edition piece.

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  3 года назад +6

      Thanks for watching🤘. My biggest frustration with many digital watch brands is their refusal to use metal cases. I think it's safe to say it's what we all want. Stainless steel is dirt cheap and there's no reason for it to ever be expensive.

    • @piquetuk
      @piquetuk 3 года назад +1

      Casio do the A1000 in stainless steel but it's much more subtle with less text on the dial, one of my favourite Casio's. £70 ($100) in the UK.

    • @michaelw.6957
      @michaelw.6957 3 года назад +2

      @@piquetuk They did, and it's a nice watch, but the pearl face and lack of text makes for a much dressier feel, while the old Marlins were essentially steel-cased G-Shknocks (though they made resin-cased Marlins, too). The price isn't bad though!

    im so happy with the gold/red "griffy". scratched that 70's itch for 35 dollars, so glad I didn't waste hundreds on a fun watch. I just ordered this in this colorway, hoping it scratches that 80's itch and I'm sure it will.

    Is the Rubik's and Rogue's crystals really mineral glass ? Armitron's website shows them both as acrylic resin. Normally if it is glass the bevel on the crystal is normally opaque white, but photos shows it as clear which leads me to believe it is indeed acrylic.

  • @MotorCityMonk
    @MotorCityMonk 2 года назад +1

    Just got my Rubik today and it has the turquoise swimmer and a turquoise outline but otherwise the face is dark. Must be another version, still love the look was just a little surprised at the color change. Also, can't figure out how to "easily" adjust the band. Not in the directions or anywhere else.

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  2 года назад +1

      I like the version you have better. The bracelet is sized via the clasp. You have to pop open the retaining latch. I usually use a small jewellers screwdriver to open it. Once it's opened you can freely move the clasp up and down the bracelet depending on the size of your wrist.

    • @degenerateWA

    If you trying to copy somebody's style, just like Armitron tried to copy Casio F91 (Timex case shape, Casio's screen and crappy light) , you should try to avoid bad things, like that disgusting light, there's no difference if you produce a watch with a good backlight....also, why they didn't try to copy a Casio's price tag? That would be nice. Armitron should make a plastic crappy thing and put a triple smaller price. Visibility is great, accuracy is great very probably, so alltogether great copy....sorry, great job :-) :-). That's not a usual gas station watch, that's a luxury gas station watch....but it works, everything ok.
    Good video Simucom, you put a lot more effort to make this video than Armitron to make that watch.
