“ I want my grandchildren to be global”. The love of that mother to encourage her kids go far away for the experience and for her future grandchildren to be global. That is love and the mindset the whole world should have.
Agreed! As a mum of 2 young children, my husband & I, already talk to them about studying in another country, travelling on their own, experience new culture’s, learn language’s, ways of life & living. I’am a British Indian, my great great grandparents came to this country. We also keep a no subject off limit’s, no secrets policy because we’re a team. Our daughter is 10 & son 13, they already know how to be very independent. They know why we give them 1 day each a week to cook a meal for the family alone etc. as we want them to not have to worry about all that when they’re older teens. We never talk to them about university locally, we always say, “When you/you both love out for university. You won’t have to worry about standing on your own two feet, as you’ll be able to do most anyway. Just meet people, your surroundings, settle into uni, get your heads down & learn. Whilst being able to live a healthy lifestyle, because this is all you know.” As that’s all the kids know & we talk about it in a fun & exciting way. When they talk about university, they say things like, “wonder which country university I’ll go to? It’s exciting & not scary because we kind of already know how to do much more alone than kid’s we know.” There’s too many opportunities outside of our country not only for education, carer’s etc, who knows they’ll probably find a partner that’s from another country & as parents we’re here ALL for it. When they do things wrong they won’t be scared or lie to tell us, they say, “can we have a chat please?” So we sit down & he/she will say what they’ve done wrong & we just have a good chat that lets them go reflect & not repeat. Then me & my husband secretly say, errr I’d never tell my parents that & laugh 😂 I know it’s going to be hard, but as a mother I can’t hold my children back & stop them from flourishing because of my selfishness. So I totally understand & agree with what you’ve said 🙌♥️🧿
@@VK.x Your children are so lucky to have parents like you and your husband. Both of you are giving them every opportunity in life. I wish you and your family all the happiness in the world.
@@Brf111 Aww thank you for your kind words & message made me emotional. My father was 51 when I was born, I was the ooops baby, BUT they tried their best to be open & realistic with me & my siblings. They treated me the same as my brother’s. I went to my dad when I had a boyfriend who they’ve known since I was 6 as we went to same schools etc & never did I ever know we’d end up together. When my parents would say, “he likes you, he’s a good guy. We know your more into non Indian boys, but give him a chance!” So we went out to Mc Donald’s 😅 just the 2 of us & turned out I actually enjoyed his 1 on 1 company. I went back & told my parents, “Yes - ok it was good we’re just friends so I’ll tell you if ever there is more or if I like someone else! Right now I’am enjoying my job & life.” That night when I got back I thought wow parental instincts are strong, how did they know I don’t look at Indian boys & think, ewww? 🤦🏻♀️ Not long after we started dating, my parents talked to me about contraception since I was 17 & I didn’t even have a boyfriend. So when me & my husband started dating I told my dad & he said, “told you! Be happy, have fun, be you, be careful & as a dad it’s my job to keep it real with times & you need to go doctors to talk about contraception. I’ll chat to your mum if you like & can take it from there etc” I was still shocked like, omg he’s old enough to be my grandad, we are British Indian, very much in tune with Indian culture & roots, BUT they’re so understanding & accepting ways of life that are changing around them. I did go on contraception & at 18 I found out I was pregnant. I knew instantly what I wanted & my now husband said when I told & asked him 1st what he wants to do? He said the same as me & that we should go to 1st 6 week scan & find out all is well. Then speak to parent’s, I was so scared, but I told my parents at 8 weeks as my body was changing so fast & I had morning sickness, plus I wanted them to know. They were so supportive & asked me what I want to do. They also asked my husband it’s ok if he wants no involvement as he’s also young & if he changed his mind as he got older, 100% we would do everything to help him bond with his child. No pressure! Also addressing the issue that I was from a poor family & his family were more comfortable financially. So need to speak to his parent’s straight away, so they have time to adjust. Also you don’t have to marry our daughter just because she’s having a baby with you.” He said thank you, that he wanted the same as me & he wanted to propose if my parent’s have their blessings & hope I say yes 🥹 when we went to tell his parents with mine, they weee not accepting at all & they said how can you want a child with a girl who’s from such poor family? She must have an abortion! It was really upsetting & I felt so hurt to see my parents faces, but keeping a straight face for me. It wasn’t simple, I went through hell, but I eventually said yes 2nd time in my pregnancy when he proposed & said only if we try EVERYTHING to make sure before our baby is born, your parent’s are not cut out of your life. I didn’t break his family or give up. They didn’t hold my son until he was 6 month’s, but after wow their bond is so beautiful to watch. 1 month after my son was born, I turned 19. People said ohhh they’ll break up etc, but we’re still together with also a daughter. Trying to work hard to make sure we have a secure roof over their heads, food on the table etc & make happy memories, but also teach our children the brutal negative facts in the world we live in & things they may go through, see or endure themselves. We don’t wrap them in cotton wool! So I have my parents to thank, for how I raise my children today. We even talk about 🏳️🌈 community & IF they felt different not to be scared to tell us. As long as they don’t do anything illegal we’ll always be by their side cheering them on from afar. If they’re in different countries flourishing. We don’t shower them with gift’s or material things. We shower them with love & remind them they can talk to us about anything small, big, negative or positive as it’s our basic responsibility to do that for them. They’re so on board why they’re learning to cook meals, because it will take pressure off them when they’re older. So they can enjoy life & it’s for their benefit. We do have family members who say, your too open with your children, but they also say they’re so well behaved, spoken, respectful & mature. So we say they’re not perfect they also have mardy moments, we’re not perfect parents, but having open relationships with your children & having the line that’s not to be crossed called boundaries is important. All families are different but supporting our children has so far worked for us. I’am now 33, it’s the best decision I made to have my son, because we’re growing, learning together with our children daily & learn from each other. It’s not true when people say when you have children your lives as a couple ends. You just have to find that balance & it works. We are lucky to have them as our children & I hope as a mother I don’t ever fail them in life. At 11 & 9 our kids were of age puberty kicked in, I took my son out to buy his own toiletries bag, aftershave & talk more about puberty in details & nothing to be ashamed of. Also talked to him a bit about girls puberty & changed to respect his female peers & that his sister is also going through puberty & 1 day when she starts her periods he should be thoughtful & supportive. I told my husband to learn & take my daughter puberty shopping to break that ice. So I’m our house it’s not a secret subject & they can & we can support each other. Our daughter came on her period not long ago & my son has been so supportive to her & we heard him ask her if she has enough pad’s or if she needs a chat etc. which was so lovely for us to secretly hear. She dealt with it like she didn’t even start a period because she was comfortable & knew it’s natural & nothing to be secretive or ashamed of. Me & my husband cried that night, our baby is growing so fast, it’s quite hard to sometimes accept they’re growing & soon we’ll hopefully be good parents & support them to fly for Uni no matter how much it’ll hurt. Thank you for your kind words it made me 🥹 I wanted to share more of my personal life with you. I hope wherever in the world you are, you are happy & safe 🙏🏼♥️🧿
It’s good to hear people are open minded, but I bet communication is the key that’s holding people back from going forward with dating foreigners. It’s understandable.
That guy said “blonde hair” as a reason lol. Anyone can dye their hair nowadays and plenty of Korean women have dyed blonde hair. So what makes it so special if a foreign woman has blonde hair? lmao.
@@maya_jones3411 Just because Asian women dye their hair blonde does not mean they can have a same mood, beauty, and charm as a blonde Western woman. What he's talking about would be a fantasy about blonde western women in the movies.
I think in a sense that's just an excuse because language barrier is something that can be overcome I mean if you're willing to learn a new language beacuse your favourite celebrity is a foreigner I think you should allow that same courtesy for a relationship
I am Indian and my boyfriend is Korean. We have been dating for more than 4 years but are still afraid to discuss the topic with our parents. I hope everything will be ok in the future.
I think I just fell in love with the two guys with the masks and glasses. It's incredible how open-minded Korea has gotten, with foreigners visiting and moving to Korea too maybe has influenced that. But at the same time I can understand Koreans wanting to be with people from their country and being comfortable with the people and society they're used to. Thank you for the interview Jin ❤️
Well, at some point It's important. If ONLY one of them is vegetarian or vegan, and neither of them wants to change, then it's not going to work unless they are rich, can prepare 2 separate meals every single time.
I’m half-german, half-greek and dating my korean boyfriend since over 4 years. We live together in Berlin, Germany - from the beginning his parents were so supportive. I know that it can be sometimes difficult with korean parents accepting a non-korean partner but my boyfriend’s parents just told him that the nationality doesn’t matter - they just want him to be happy.
Berlin is such a beautiful city! I had the chance to visit in 2017, I wanted to get to know my roots better as my great grandpa from my mom’s side was from Germany, they emigrated out during the great inflation of Germany in the 1920s. Sending my support to the both of you from Argentina 🇦🇷❤️
I'm Asian and my husband is Irish. We met in college (in the US) and got married 3 years later. There was definitely a culture barrier, in the beginning, as my mother disapproved and his parents also. 15+ years later, with two kids, we manage to overcome a lot through communication and support for each other. Both sets of parents have since come around.
I’m Latina (Puerto Rican but also born in the US) and my husband is Native American. Definitely were so many complications. Hispanic families can be quite xenophobic and racist at times so it took almost 2 years for them to approve. I had found out a year after that his parents had been saying racist things about me and my family so that was a hard pill to swallow (we are no longer speaking or in contact with his family, lol). Culture barrier is something I’m used to as I went down the same road during a previous relationship I had with a guy from Australia. It’s tough. Me and my husband still do have days where it’s hard, of course, but we’re getting there. We also manage to overcome these days with communication, etc. We got married last year and welcomed our first baby girl this month ! 🤍 Wish the very best for you and your family. :)
@@nilesc9184 I married a stubborn Irishman😍He was steadfast n told his parents he was marrying me no matter what. My mother predicted that the marriage wouldn’t last a year…well, guess who’s wrong! Now she tells me that I’m lucky to have met him. All I can say is we persevere and we were a unit. My husband never looked back. Yes, I am lucky❤️
@@casluvs Congrats on your baby❤️One thing we do is educate each other in regards to our cultures. If a situation arises and heated words exchanged, our different cultures were often flung at each other’s faces…that’s when we walk away from each other, cool down, and then talk civilly leading to an apology( most of the time😊). We try to tackle the situation with some resolution bc we don’t want that to happen again. Marriage is no joke and it is a give and take and some sacrifices. Both of us are proud and stubborn. But I have to give my husband a lot of credit for being steadfast! I’m very lucky.
The guy in the blue suit jacket may only be 20 yrs old, and set in his ways. 🤣 He has very strong opinions for a young man. "Food." "What if she doesn't like Korean food." "I am staying in Korea because I feel more comfortable in Korea."
@@ornellasigning124 food is an extremely important part in Asian cultures. I’m Chinese and for me if you don’t love food it’s a dealbreaker. Food is basically our life😂. I’m not even kidding.
I’m Mexican American and my husband is Korean American ❤ we met in high school. We have two beautiful girls and a third baby on the way. I never really thought about what ethnicity I would marry 🤔 I just dated whoever made me laugh, was respectful, respected my family, culture and religion. That was that.
Just found this channel and it’s very encouraging seeing guys would be open to dating foreigners. At the end of the day, we are all human. My dad is Irish/Russian and he married my mom, who is Mexican. ❤
I’m Kurdish from Northern Iraq and my husband is South Korean, and we have two kids and currently live in Australia. We are now back in Korea visiting the grandparents. ❤🎉
Dating and marriage are completely different things. If you are marrying someone, you marry their family too. You infuse cultures, languages, and traditions. It might be difficult at first but if you respect each other's individuality and compromises..the outcome will be much smoother. You need to be broad-minded and generous to embrace the changes. It's a bit tough though .
One of my friends cousin is getting married to someone from another nationality and for them it’s smooth sailing like it’s so beautiful.. so not for all but some it might be tough.. 💕✨
It's depends. A han Chinese can marry other ethnic minorities. Since they don't have much difference. Or even east Asians. But not on Indians, Americans, Africans who are totally different and had no relationship at all.
I watched a video on a similar topic on another channel. Both the male and female versions said the same thing. Koreans were not particularly negative about international marriage. However, the comments in the video were a bit different. People were favorable in the female version, but very critical in the male version. I don't think there was much difference between the two videos. Everyone had expectations and fantasies about foreigners, and wanted to date if language communication was possible. So I thought about what the difference might be, and in the end, I felt that people looked at women and men differently and empathized and criticized
I’m aussie and my husband is Taiwanese. We love the same food (very important) and love each other’s cultures. I am learning mandarin slowly! Its all about learning and opening your mind to new things, because you love them.
Jin it would be great to interview older generations because it is really interesting to see their perspective. The same way you did at the end in this video.
🥲 THE PARENTS ARE THE PROBLEM! I live in Korea for 5 years and dating my bf who is Korean for 4 years. We really match well and our relationship is a healthy relationship. Our future goals also match. BUT HIS PARENTS DON’T WANT A FOREIGNER, there is no logical reason, they just don’t want it. We never even met. And now they stopped talking to my boyfriend till he breaks up with me 🙃
Thats so ridiculous I have to say. Parents will always have a vision how they would like their children's lives to be BUT at the end of the day it is the kids lives and they should be able to decide what they want. I do hope though that all parents want their kids to be happy....but I dont understand why they make that sometimes so hard for their kids. I do get that some people feel more comfortable to be with people from their own or similar culture but I honestly dont see the problem why it couldnt be someone from a whole different continent for example. I think you two should just go for it :) Be together, be happy. At the end what matters is that you two love each other and you can imagine a future together. It is your life and no parent has the right to dictate who you can or cant love. It does suck when parents are against your partner, but they will have to deal with it. Also it is their loss not the one of your bf. Wish you all the best :D
I saw many international couple in youtube their parents are good. Sad to hear his parents are perfectionist. He should fight your relationship with u. : (
He does fight for me and our relationship but he’s just sad that his parents are doing this to him and he can’t just have the people who he loves the most together :/ I also really want to meet his parents and spend time together in Chuseok etc but they are not even willing to meet :/ Not like I can’t speak Korean or don’t know the culture either…
@@CatalinaJH Sorry for you. I'm glad least your boyfriend isn't the mamaboy giving up on his girlfriend because of his parents. The two of you have been together for 4 years and there is no problem other than his parents, so I hope you guys don't give up. In this situation, it will be important what the Korean boyfriend will do. He tries to convince his parents and if that doesn't work I hope he ignores them and decides that the two will get married legally and live happily. There are many cases of Korean international couples who ignore their parents and then become pregnant or after the birth of a child, their parents acknowledge it. koco couple
Loved the one-mindedness of everyone interviewed including the older woman who answered each question without hesitation. Being able to communicate and understanding each other’s culture helps to overcome hurdles in a relationship.
One of my reasons I fell in love with S. Korea. I was stationed there back 2000 and I really felt like I was among my own and I am black. The men adored my skin color, even the elders. They had so much respect for me and the Koreans were so welcoming and ready to share and learn. I remember Essence sent black hairdressers to our base to teach Korean hairdressers how to do black hair. Mannnn, they mastered that ish. We looked so good while we were there, like models in Arny uniforms. The Koreans have a way of learning other cultures and replicating it to perfection. I have plans to visit in May 2023. I cannot wait! I ❤️ S. Korea
Amazing, you had a great experience in 2000. It's 23 years, ahead. You have the mixture of the cyber and superficial generation. I'm not stating that those who are "more cultural" got "swept under the rug," so to speak. They're there as well. It's just so much concentration on other menial topics that does relate to superficialness. Idk😣🦊🐾🌺🦋 SMH.
I'm Russian and my wife is ethnic Korean from Uzbekistan We met in Russia and recently moved to Uzbekistan Yeah, both of us speak Russian as first language, but anyway It's cool to live in global era Cheers!
This was excellent Jin. Loved the bonus clip especially! I could see Korean people’s kindness and open-mindedness that I’m used to, mainly from Korean entertainment, really shine through. I know a lot of the other videos you have are extremely helpful to be able to discern & prepare for the possible negative sides of Korean/Foreigner interactions but I was honestly feeling overly worried about my upcoming visit until this video. 감사합니다!
Being in an international marriage myself, I can say that it could be difficult at times but mostly rewarding. You can see both worlds and is simply mind-broadening.
This was interesting to watch, especially the response of the lady at the end. I'm living in Korea and I'm currently in a interracial relationship (Black/Korean). Luckily for us, he's fluent in English and I'm an independent intermediate Korean speaker (b1/b2), I don't consider myself fluent yet haha. We do our best to be patient with each other , understanding that even couples of the same nationality will have communication problems at times. I was really afraid to meet his mother but she is so kind and funny. Unfortunately , I know many couples who had to break up because the parents did not want them dating a foreigner. But in general I think the view of interracial/ international couples is improving in Korea. There are a lot of elderly people where I live and most of them have the same view as the lady in this video. They even joke with me saying you should stay in Korea and get married here. I heard from another interview that spoke to mostly older people, their view of international dating change after watching the Korean program The Return of Superman (Sam Hammington's Family). So I think interviews like this and other videos showing those kinds of children and couples are really helpful.
I fell in love with my husband while he was here on a working visa. I let him decide where he wanted to live and was even able to discuss our options with his parent's. They worried I'd miss my family more than he'd miss them (he did 5 years army then moved to Australia) that they asked him to live in Australia for me. We are very happy with our choice but I would have been ok with anything. We are about to have our first child and the discussion on racism in korea was a topic he was quite passionate about. He said its still a delicate situation and it's easier in Australia. Very interesting topic.
No matter where you are from, I think it's important to know the language of a country you choose to live abroad in. If you enter a relationship with mix language you should both learn each others language. ☺️
Awe this is nice to see. My husbands mother is from Seoul and father is from Portland. They divorced by the time he was three due to her Korean family never accepting her American husband. He barely has a relationship with her, as she prioritizes her full Korean children. It’s nice to hear the mindset is changing.
Korea has changed rapidly in the last 20 years. Back in the 70s and 80s and up until middle of 90s, international marriage was not favorable for many Koreans. But now things have changed and younger generation and their parents are accepting the international marriage. Nowadays biracial kids are seen to be cute and beautiful to many Koreans.
I read somewhere that if you take away race, gender, and stereotypes, your viewpoint will be much wider, and loving a person wouldn't be so hard. Like, this makes me even want to date a foreigner.
in general it's certainly nice that many in this interview answered very openminded. But some things are a bit questionable... so because you see Vlogs with mixed couples you want that too because it is 'exciting' and you'd choose a nationality 'no one else has yet'. It sound more like 'who has the best and most exciting thing' than real interest in a specific person. The other guy was really cute having his emphasis completely on food =D If food taste differs, no way for a relationship =D
I love That guy who thinks the biggest problem is the different taste in food in a multiculturel relationship 😂😂😂 and the language barriers. There are millions of us who learn or already speak korean.
I like this. There are lots of Korean people who fall in love with persons from other races and nationalities, but they feel kinda forced to marry people from their country to "keep the ethnicity". I respect that, but also love is love!
Love keep you together. The language you can learn. And religion is just your choice if you like to give up your own religion or not, don’t be forced for it. My daughter married also a guy with another religion and they are together for 11 years 😊
Wow! Very interesting! I know a little bit on this topic because my grandmother was Korean, and she married my grandfather who was German. My mom married an American guy. My mom would tell me all the time about how her mom was judge mental towards my father since he didn't know Korean culture. Plus, this was back in the 80s, so things were a little different. But it is great to see how perspectives are changing on this idea! Thank you for the video, Jin ;)
I just have to say what a great interviews! Korean guys and the grandma were so open minded. As long as both partners respect and love each other and their cultures and religion l don't see a problem with this. Also as long as you and your own/ extended family are positive about being mixed children and love them unconditionally there'll see the love regardless of others prejudice and ignorance. 💯😎
Back when I was in grad school, the Korean guys said straight to my face (nicely) that they must marry a Korean girl. Times are changing I guess. And this is great for love 💙 But on the flip side, I have many Korean-American friends and half Korea friends, and they say they feel VERY outcasted and shunned when they go to Korea. They're treated as foreigners, but worse. So they feel sad about this, like they aren't accepted or don't belong. Maybe this is the downside.
As much as love does transcend borders, it really helps to respect the culture of the country you come to live in. Including making an effort to learn the language. If I end up dating a Korean girl, and meet her parents, I will make sure to be well prepared with my Korean beforehand. This will ensure that I can fit in the best possible way.
Jin Myeong gives the answers that in my opinion all people should give, especially when it comes to placing importance on different ideologies instead of different nationalities! 진명씨, 고맙습니다!!!♡
I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I enjoyed the content you presented in this video. I live in 🇺🇸 and I'm an African American who loves diversity. I was quite impressed with the answers some of the young men gave on marrying a foreigner. And even more startled by the response of the older woman (70 yrs.)seeing that she's of an older generation. Yet more importantly you were quite specific in your questioning on the race/ nationality issues. You did a great job asking the questions that most people want to hear. So now I am a subscriber to your channel. Looking forward to watching your other video vlogs. Take care! 10/16/2022 America 🇺🇸
when he said russian blond hair i knew where it was going “as you know we have this fantasy” yeah it’s called fetishization….just treat women like humans pls…he was giggling about it like yeah you should feel embarrassed😟 anyway the lady at the end was sweet 🥹
@@yooj4012 so cuz theres girls that fetishize korean boys, suddenly korean men fetishizing blonde, east european women, isnt wrong? make it make sense.
That was such a nice video 😍👍🏻 Love the chosen guys and their nice open mindedness along with the last woman and the way the video was shot and the two random cats and the way the interviwer talks, everything was lovely and chill 💕👍🏻
It was nice to hear guys' opinions on this. (This is clearly more targeted for foreign female audience.) Tho' as a guy I'd like to see what Korean girls think of marriage with a foreigner as well. To have both sides covered.
Hai buddies I'm an INDIAN. All counties have their own way of living. Within the country like India we differ in many ways. Just it's my opinion one who loves from bottom of one's heart selflessly nothing matters. What u see outside u believe. What u see inside is important. No person shows their true self unless situation arises. Don't believe in onscreen videos, vlogs etc please, they are just for showoff real life is different. How u support each other is very important.🥰🥰
Met a Danish man in my hometown and moved to Denmark in 86 got married in 88, have 2 children and love it. Learning Danish was a bit hard but love the food. I travel home to California every year to see my family and friends, which is approximately an 11 hr flight, so mixed marriages are great.
This is truly beautiful. You love who you love and that should be it. As long as the couple is willing and wants that relationship I don't think anything can stop them.
As a woman who lived as a foreigner in Korea from Canada, this makes me happy. There is this sort of rumour amongst foreigners that Korean men would see us as tainted and they would never want any serious relationship. Glad that's not as common as people told me. :)
The first time I moved to Korea (2013) international couples involving foreign females and Korean males were not so common at all, but now it is almost trendy for both sides I feel like! I am French and my fiancé is Korean (together for 6 years), and I have several female friends from France and the US who are also in long-term relationships with Korean guys.
Nationality doesn't matter as long as you are in love, even the language you can teach one another even the food as well you can try to taste different foods🍲
For me being with a Korean guy was the hardest dating experience ever :( I always felt like I had done something wrong, and cannot truly be myself, especially because of his parents. Maybe I met the wrong guy when I was living in Korea….
The important thing is that both want the same thing, that is, to have the same mind, no matter what country or nation it is, when you fall in love you fall in love, period.
Thank you Jin, you literally covered so many topics out of which you could have made many videos but you didn't you really did go in depth and covered many topics and questions that people usually didn't previously
the words "fantasy", "experience" or even "curiosity" some of them used kind of make me uncomfortable, who would marry someone for experience or curiosity?
@@awuramma6222 maybe curiosity when it comes to simple dating, but marriage... also when they talked about "blond haired women", it just shows how they fantasize about foreigners. i don't think anyone would marry someone else just to fulfill their fantasies, if so then that would be some type of fetishism, same thing goes for foreigners wanting to marry korean people only because they're korean
@@sarah-fc6tt well yeah. When you start dating, isn't it all about curiosity at first? Dating is getting to know each other isn't it? Then if you're satisfied with what you've realised about the other person, you can think of marriage. Also, is it termed as a fetish if you're interested in that specific group of people because of their specific culture?
@@awuramma6222 i think everyone has different conception of what dating is, but personally i would date someone because i love them and like spending time with them, not because im curious about the country they're from. also yes fantasizing about "blond russian women" and wanting to marry them because of this specific reason is fetishism. it's okay to want to make friends with people of different nationalities to share your cultures and all, but marrying them only because they're from a specific country and have specific physical traits is weird..
I kind of love how most Korean (or Japanese, or Chinese) say that they don't think of marrying a foreigner "because of a language barrier". But when the interviewer swings back at them "what if she/he is fluent in your language" and suddenly they are gagged and make up some more obstacles on the spot :P
Seems that even though there are differing opinions, Korea is much more open-minded then in the past. It was interesting how one man mentioned he wasn't racist, because I've seen other videos where the concept of racism was foreign to some Koreans. As always great video :D
I don't believe in date and I don't like dating. I believe in marriage because marriage is halal relationship and it's strong relationship as compare to dating. When you like any girl and you know this girl is so understanding and nice person so you get marry with her and make halal relationship with her. My point of view it's good thing. By the way this topic is so good Jin. Nice video I appreciate your work. Lot of love from Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️🇰🇷
I think it's not about race but more about having good compatibility and understanding. I'm from Europe but I also think it would be hard for me to date a Korean man because of the language barrier and because I don't like spicy food. I can't eat kimchi or any other spicy food because even a little spicy is too much for me. But I can see myself dating a Japanese guy or Chinese one. Because I think I would adapt better to their culture than with Korean culture and even though it would be hard to learn the language I think if I put my mind into it I can learn it. I agree with the guy that says the food taste is important since most humans actually socialize better when it's food around so if one person doesn't like one type of food can be a problem for the rest of the group right? That's why I think I can't date guys that come from a culture that eat spicy food like koreans, Indians, Mexican and some African people. 😂 I love food with a lot of flavor but not spicy, like Japanese food have lots of flavor and Chinese food too and Italian food French food. And those type of food aren't spicy I can eat perfectly. Also I think it's important for me to have a culture or a ideology I can actually adapt well so I don't see myself dating muslin men or extreme religious people because their culture/religion would be too different from mine.
I am indian and my boyfriend is korean ...and 1st I thought he was doing time pass with me and then I stopped talking with him for 2 days and he kept texting me 2 days and when I replied after 2 days he was like..forget every thing and lets get married within next year lol..he said he can't live without me haha..plus the time when he was talking about marriage we both were doing video call 📞 and now we are engaged and gonna marry next year hahaha..🤗
I'm a black American woman and I married a Japanese man. I love his parents and family but his aunt and grandmother hate me just because I'm foreign....it's so surreal
It's nice to hear opinions on such topics. Although I believe that distance isn’t a big factor in a relationship. Communication is. #jin you’re doing a great work #love from 🇮🇳
At the end, all that matters is love and how the couple handles their own ideologies. Not forcing the partner to like or not something, not forcing religion nor anything else on each other. Just, mutual love and mutual respect.
I was prepared to be disappointed, but glad to see open minded people. The guy who kept stressing his love for Korean food was funny, though. If he introduces her to Korean food, more than likely, she'll LOVE IT. ...but he should also be open to foods of other cultures and, if she's a good cook with a wide repertoire of foreign recipes, it could be like traveling all over the world without even leaving home! 🤣 Btw, I loved Unnie's (Eomma's?) responses. She was very loving and open. 😍
I prefer to date my own race.. a lot of ppl feel this way because of the shared values and culture. It works for most but I'm not closed minded to the fact that ppl marry outside their race.
If you love someone with all your heart mind and soul that is true love there should be nothing that would stop you language barriers can be solved together. Love is so great no matter who you are and where you come from!❤️
I'm not fluent (or close to fluent) in any language other than English but if my husband was foreign I'd make it a priority to become fluent in his language, no matter where we live.
Thank you, I enjoyed this interview. Made me think of how folks in Hawaii are (mostly mixed races) vs some parts of the Mainland who do not accept interracial relationships.
Jin Myeong seems so open minded and well cultured. He did a great job giving his opinion while still being so respectful. I think I have a crush on him now 🤭
I love the fact that more Korean men are open minded in dating foreigners.🙌🏼 Maybe it’s just me, but I never hear any interest in Latin/Spanish women just European, Eastern Asian etc .. type of women. 🤔🤭Anyhow, I truly enjoy watching your videos! 🥰
I realized that too. It depends on what type of other culture (media) the person has been exposed to. However, I do hear a lot of EU, EA and USA or even Australia.
@Walela I’m almost certain that favorite celebrity most likely would be Jennifer Lopez or Shakira would be my hunch... I could be wrong but what man of any species not love these hot Latinas🔥😍😜😉🤗
@WalelaHmmmm, this is exciting. The two that came too mind are Carol G and Anita (probably wrong again, lol). Either way Kudos to your Chinese friend for liking this Latina celebrity!🙌🏼🥰
@Walela totally agree...I've said the same on this post and others We're in the 21st Century, and it's long OVERDUE for the need to get away from the old Colonialism...Capitalism Gaslighting and Racial stereotyping Myths that were put in place to create divides and power.
that married guy is so level-headed, composed and sure of his place in life... Thumbs up! And the food-guy... to be honest, I understand him completely. One of my biggest requirements in a partner is that they can't be picky eaters XD
This was nice to see and hear. The one guy is basically basing her relationship around food. My opinion is he has a lot of developing maybe maturing to work on. Im in Japan now, and it’s my second time here, different part though. I love the food and enjoy trying a variety of different things. You cannot be a foreigner in another country and not be open to learning and trying different foods. Your basically closed minded not open to change, and whoever marries him good luck. That’s probably why he’s been in only two relationships.
That guy’s obsession with food is amazing. 😆 He knows what he wants, and you can’t fault him for that!
He wants his Food period ❗😄
He's the poster boy for "love goes through the stomach" 😂😂
I understand him, he must be of Taurus 😂😂😂 only thinking about food
I was thinking the same. He's really cares about food 🤣

This should ALWAYS be the mindset.
This almost made me cry 🥹
South Koreans are so racist and their racism is very annoying.
So true 😊
It's not about nationality , it's more about geography
Absolutely...even though it is the hardest thing to be far away from your children no matter how old they are
This made my heart sing! That was so beautiful to hear...Thank you...💖
It’s good to hear people are open minded, but I bet communication is the key that’s holding people back from going forward with dating foreigners. It’s understandable.
They are open minded but their parents are not.

I might be going through the same thing. What advices would you have for us? :(
I’m Latina (Puerto Rican but also born in the US) and my husband is Native American. 🤍
Wish the very best for you and your family. :)

Indian girls crying here coz Korean guys don't mention them
I have met many Koreans (even parents) who are really great and open to other races and nationalites. This is a great video. Thanks Jin! 👌👌
Maybe it has to do with the public of the channel too. People are being very nice and positive in this comment section
I've read so many comments and I have read a single negative comment all positive si far.
I’m aussie and my husband is Taiwanese. We love the same food (very important) and love each other’s cultures. I am learning mandarin slowly! Its all about learning and opening your mind to new things, because you love them.

And now they stopped talking to my boyfriend till he breaks up with me 🙃
That's really tough. I would just say screw it and just marry whoever I want regardless of the consequences. It's my life.

감사합니다!
It’s beautiful! My husband is Korean, and our family is very open about our marriage ^^~~
It's truly a wonderful thing to see how open they are to experiencing dating a foreigner.
@@홍유식-v2w not they not accepting...
The other guy was really cute having his emphasis completely on food =D
If food taste differs, no way for a relationship =D
Also, not sure if it's the translation but when they kept saying fantasy...it was kind of off putting.
I love That guy who thinks the biggest problem is the different taste in food in a multiculturel relationship 😂😂😂 and the language barriers. There are millions of us who learn or already speak korean.
He's just using that as excuse to stay in Korea. I guess he love Korea, so he prefer his foreign girl or wife to be in Korea.
@@CoolNumber1 oviously...who care foreigner...you are married different communities problem not overcome...so better married same communities
U r beauty
I like this. There are lots of Korean people who fall in love with persons from other races and nationalities, but they feel kinda forced to marry people from their country to "keep the ethnicity". I respect that, but also love is love!
My son in the States married a wonderful girl from South Korea and I now have 3 stunningly beautiful Korean American grandchildren!!!
And this is great for love 💙
But on the flip side, I have many Korean-American friends and half Korea friends, and they say they feel VERY outcasted and shunned when they go to Korea.
Take care!

This video was very special to hear the support that they all have from their parents ❤ I love this
when he said russian blond hair i knew where it was going “as you know we have this fantasy” yeah it’s called fetishization….just treat women like humans pls…he was giggling about it like yeah you should feel embarrassed😟 anyway the lady at the end was sweet 🥹

That was such a nice video 😍👍🏻
Love the chosen guys and their nice open mindedness along with the last woman and the way the video was shot and the two random cats and the way the interviwer talks, everything was lovely and chill 💕👍🏻
It was nice to hear guys' opinions on this. (This is clearly more targeted for foreign female audience.)
Tho' as a guy I'd like to see what Korean girls think of marriage with a foreigner as well.
To have both sides covered.
This was such an interesting video! I enjoyed hearing the different perspectives.
Agree 💯
Met a Danish man in my hometown and moved to Denmark in 86 got married in 88, have 2 children and love it. Learning Danish was a bit hard but love the food. I travel home to California every year to see my family and friends, which is approximately an 11 hr flight, so mixed marriages are great.
Jin, thank you for this "docu". It was interesting and eyeopening. You have a beautiful country with open minded loving population.
This is truly beautiful. You love who you love and that should be it. As long as the couple is willing and wants that relationship I don't think anything can stop them.
I knew from your first video, you were a great content creator. Please keep going on with these amazing videos ❤
I love how open minded and respectful the guy who said “Nationality doesn’t matter if you love each over.” was.
As a woman who lived as a foreigner in Korea from Canada, this makes me happy. There is this sort of rumour amongst foreigners that Korean men would see us as tainted and they would never want any serious relationship. Glad that's not as common as people told me. :)
클럽같은곳을 방문하니까 이상한 남자들을 만나는거죠 99% 남자들은 건전합니다.
All valid points. Language, culture, religion and food is all important. 😄
I think only common language is important. Other than that it is about two individuals if they fit together as personlities or not.
Thank you for a very thorough interview where you digged deeper than what is usually the norm.
사람은 저마다 다르잖아요.... 한국남자 대표로 미안합니다.
Yeah it made me uncomfortable as well. Fantasies won't sustain relationships. At least curiousity could be an ok start.
@@sarah-fc6tt I meant curiosity about their dates. That's why people ask questions on dates, don't they?
ngl when he started with 'I have a fantasy...' I got scared
This is so nice ...
I'm totally open to interracial relationships and marriage
I agree with you 😊 from Somalia 🇸🇴 ❤😊🇰🇷
But don’t you have to date the person to get to know them and see if they’re worthy of marriage?
@@Riaaonline I think it because this person still depend on their religions.

This video randomly showed up and it was very interesting! I’m a k-pop fan and ira always good to learn new perspectives from Korean people
It's nice to hear opinions on such topics.
This is so interesting and really positively surprises me
This was sweet 😊 감사합니다 for sharing 💟
I was prepared to be disappointed, but glad to see open minded people. The guy who kept stressing his love for Korean food was funny, though.
If he introduces her to Korean food, more than likely, she'll LOVE IT. ...but he should also be open to foods of other cultures and, if she's a good cook with a wide repertoire of foreign recipes, it could be like traveling all over the world without even leaving home! 🤣
Btw, I loved Unnie's (Eomma's?) responses. She was very loving and open. 😍
I'm glad to hear that people are so open minded
I think it depends on each person cuz everyone is different so u never know ;)
I prefer to date my own race.. a lot of ppl feel this way because of the shared values and culture. It works for most but I'm not closed minded to the fact that ppl marry outside their race.
That food oriented guy makes me laugh. Who cares about love when you have a stomach to fill?
If you love someone with all your heart mind and soul that is true love there should be nothing that would stop you language barriers can be solved together. Love is so great no matter who you are and where you come from!❤️

If that one guy just does all the cooking, then the problem would be solved right? 🤣
Thank you, I enjoyed this interview. Made me think of how folks in Hawaii are (mostly mixed races) vs some parts of the Mainland who do not accept interracial relationships.
Wow! That one guy was super obsessed with food.

After viewing all these types of analysis videos on RUclips, SK seem to crave fair white skin and blonde hair....the fairer the better
@Walela totally agree...I've said the same on this post and others
We're in the 21st Century, and it's long OVERDUE for the need to get away from the old Colonialism...Capitalism Gaslighting and Racial stereotyping Myths that were put in place to create divides and power.
What's most important for considering international marriage, in my opinion it has to be language.
that married guy is so level-headed, composed and sure of his place in life...
