Superformance 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe - One Take
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 апр 2016
- This is a Continuation Series Shelby Daytona Coupe, built under license by Superformance and powered by a 550 HP Roush 427 V8 with all the goodies. At $185,000 as tested, it ain't cheap, but Superformance builds some of the highest quality recreation Shelby Cobras and Daytonas around, and this one has creature comforts like power windows, air conditioning, an independent rear suspension and upgraded Wilwood brakes. Suffice to say, it's an absolute blast.

The beast wants some fun
Getting a Daytona Coupe for 1/10 the cost of a real Shelby Dayton Coupe that is still basically a brand new car with some additional comforts and better handling than the original is a hands down win.
seeing all the complaints about how $165k could buy way better, i completely agree with you. if you're a huge fan of the shelby daytona coupe or really love to collect classics; this is a steal!
More like 1/50 or 1/100 the cost
DirtyD iiA
Needs the old roaring Ford v8 in it.
Indeed, but if I was to buy one, I'd want it in the original blue and white.
Sounds like a movie. Awesome sound. Can you imagine a road trip in this car. Every moment would be an event.
Personally believe that this is by far and away the coolest car you've tested!
I wish the red stripe on the hood lined up the whole way for 185k
Seriously.
+Trevor Puckett LOL, now it's all I can see.
+Trevor Puckett Can't unsee, unacceptable for 185K
+Trevor Puckett Misaligned hood give it that "vintage" feel ;)
+Trevor Puckett Which part doesn't line up? I'm not seeing it, lol.
Man that is one sweet ass looking car !
The guys who built it made it timeless and it will look amazing forever !!!!
That's a freaking dream car 😲
Sounds like a REAL car... I love the sound when Matt downshift it
Those downshifts are magical.
I think I'll run this video on a loop all afternoon, with just enough subwoofer to get the feel of the floorboards shaking. Love it!
I love my Factory Five replica. My son and I built it and painted it and have over 7000 miles on it already. Never been on a trailer! 550HP is just for car show one-upmanship, the Factory Five is just a little lighter than this one and runs great with 250-300 HP.
I love how you take your viewers for a ride. That's awesome!!
Side pipes are always welcome 😂
If I see one of these things in person I would probably lose my shit. lol.
They're just so beautiful, i really wanna make the factory five Daytona coupe but I'm just not there financially
Bilal Khan Yeah, they are gorgeous. Im no where close to being able to afford one of these. lol
Ive seen one on the freeway. Shit was lost. Lol
One of those videos I hit like before I watch. Awesome
I have so much love for these cars. I saw a couple of originals, and replicas, around the Nurburgring and Pebble Beach. So damn gorgeous.
I am a 70's kid, turned 18 in 1980. To this day there is nothing sweeter then the sound of an American V8 through a manual box to me, brings back so many memories of muscle cars I saw as a kid. They roamed the streets in packs then, especially where I lived...right outside of the Motor City.
+Aspen Look 18 years old 36 years ago, you figure it out Einstein.
What a beast! Can't help but love those Roush engines.. Old school mechanical power and sounds like it too..
Great review, love the car, one of my favorites when I was a kid along with Cobra's and GT40's. Huge props for the way you handled the cyclists on the road, thank you.
This is one of the best roads I'v seen you on. Absolutely beautiful. (The car too.)
Just to clarify...these are not "kit cars". The roller comes completely assembled, wired, plumbed and painted. Everything is done and ready to install a small block Ford motor and transmission of your choice to complete the car. By doing it that way the cars can be as original as possible and not have to comply with government safety and emissions restrictions. Many features of these cars have been improved over the 6 original racecars..bigger brakes, stiffer frame, better suspension, etc. Keep in mind Superformance worked with Peter Brock, the original designer of the body, the late Bob Negstad, suspension guru and Carroll Shelby himself approved of the final product giving his full endorsement. It is an authentic Shelby and cars are listed in the international Shelby Registry. There are some errors in the info stated in the video. I do own one of these and actually rode in this very car when considering a purchase back in 2012. With a pro built 427W and TKO 600 5 speed and choosing Voss Performance to do the install and completion of the car I have 140k invested, not 185 as stated. Also, these cars use a ZF IRS traction controlled rear with 3.46 gears, not 3.73 as stated. I admit to being "old school" in my taste in performance cars. These cars are not for everyone but if you like and appreciate a beautiful, unique car that is also brutally fast...check them out. Superformance tested one of these a few years ago in S. Africa, where they're built and ran a gps verified 204 mph.
Love the reviews of the not so obvious cars like this. Thanks. Nice video. Love the old school sound!
love the sound that car makes on the downshift. Very nice, well done video Matt!
Thanks for this vid Matt; this is my absolute dream car. My only gripe: I actually wish the car was a little louder because once you hear a *real Daytona you wish everything sounded like it.
Always loved those cars. I remember seeing one as a kid cruising down I-26 between east TN and Asheville, NC. Beautiful cars.
Saw one of those 2 years ago on its way to Gumball 3000. Being European, i didn't even know about the history and rarity of this model... but it's presence got me questionning the owner, thank god i have !! Incredible car in the flesh.
And the sound is absolutely godly. Cheers Matt
Looking forward to your video''s everyday, always enjoyable to watch keep it up Matt
I would drive and not stop just to hear the sound of that car.
FINALLY :D Ive been wanting one of these for myself back here in South Africa and now i get to see my favorite reviewer drive it.
+TACTICALOPERATIONS10 How much do they go for?
Hey Matt, big fan. Seen every single one take. Please never stop doing these, they're my favourite style of car videos
One of my dream cars. Love the look of that back end and the history/story behind it.
awsome sound and gorgeous looking!
Two amazing Shelby's in one day. You are one lucky guy Matt!
I like how you are patient with your gear shifts, careful and intentional, not rushing things.
Amazing car great video. Love the one takes Matt. Looking forward to this weeks podcast!
Thank you for the ride.
The exhaust tone is pure mechanical music...deep, rich and melodious - wonderful!
That was fun. Thanks a lot for the cruise.
You are officially the luckiest man on Earth. Keep up the great work.
This car is so damn cool!!! Thank you sir!!!
the scenery looks amazing
I really like your reviews - keep it up.
Didn't expect the price to be so high, but it has all the goodies. Would love to build a Cobra or a Caterham one day. Thanks for the video Matt.
It is a charmed life you lead, my friend.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone at the SMOKING TIRE. Thanks for sharing a AWESOME SHELBY DAYTONA!! VAROOM!
Matt, thank you for making this film. Again, it's a joy to watch you so thoroughly enjoy driving a wonderful machine. This model is a serious contender for a future purchase. I wonder if they could put a Voodoo in it. I would need the Tremec DCT due to a disability I have in my left leg. Your observations are incredibly helpful.
Rich Farah is my favourite natural driver
+Dominic Bradley Rich 427 V8 is my favourite naturally aspirated engine
+Dominic Bradley reviewed a kia forta koupe turbo, gotta confuse the viewers right babe?
+Andrew Mckay yep.
+Andrew Mckay left babe
+manufaktur
I thought that would be the GT350 engine.
Awesome review, I'm going to get one!
I don't usually like cars like these, but DAYUM!
+jamakasis18 Only six cars in the world, with one in a museum, then the museum closes.... man its pretty though upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/59/Shelby_Daytona%2C_1964.JPG
this has always been ONE of my favourites.
what an absolute gorgeous machine! almost as beautiful as matt
This is by far my favorite car you have driven.
Real cool car! Great video!
btw thanks for the tweet bruh, I looked and looked for this video.
Type 65... Holy Grail. Beautiful color combo and setup. Ferrari Berlinetta, meet your maker!
Holy smokes Batman! That car is awesome! Great video +TheSmokingTire
now this is my type of car, old school muscle love it!!
My all time DREAM CAR is the Superformance Daytona Coupe! I know a lot of people would say i'm nuts, but I absolutely LOVE this old school machine. That exhaust sound is incredible. I would dare say, there are few cars, even modern cars of 2018 that would give you the pure sense of JOY just from hearing the SOUND of a motor vehicle as this car does. Yeah, I know you can put on a stupidly loud exhaust system on any modern car and get it to sound like this, but there is just something about this recreation of an American racing icon, the Shelby Daytona Couple, that does it for me. At $165,000 (in today's money, with everyone of them probably INCREASING in value from this day forward), I know it's way too far a reach for me to even get being close to retiring now, but I can always dream. Maybe somehow, someway, someday, the stars will align correctly for me, and I'll be able to acquire a Superformance Coupe exactly like this one. I even love the red color and the silver stripes. Great color combo on this particular car. I'll keep dreaming......
I could see me drivin' that baby! What a beautiful road to eat up on a test drive. I'm jealous!!!
I'm actually completely in love with that car man damn
So... So beautiful...
No pops and cracks like new cars. Sounds so much better this way
One crazy cool car!
Right in the feels with that exhaust note.
That thing is dope af
Wonderful video! I might have to bring my Factory Five Daytona down when I finish it to see how they compair.
My favorite car of all time. So beautiful.
So beautiful!
Definitely a car on my dream garage list. One day...
Yes bro, long time, miss your vids...let's go!
Sounds excellent.
That's a gorgeous car.
Amazing car and scenery
Gorgeous car sounds amazing 👍👍👍😎😎
The exhaust note is prefect
Its nice to see cars being driven fairly normal, being able to hear and see how they perform. Too often we get shaky passenger cam of a car being thrashed down the road with crap sound and not being able to see much. Good job man!! LOL
sounds really cool
ooooh been waiting for this since i saw it in the background on another vid...!!!!!111one.
I'm gonna smile a lot, not just a little bit. Especially if it's dark blue with white stripes.
damn, this is badass! i love how it looks!!
Aspen Look lol savage!!
Wow, ive not got time to watch this now but I cant wait to get 15mins to have a look.
Some of the best sounding Race cars ever made . Just look at the blue one on RUclips racing down the track that’s an original Shelby car, it frickin Roars down the track .... Epic
when someone asks me if my cobra is real, I usually say "Aren't they all?"
sounds incredible.
Well that was a sick review.
the shelby cobra roadster is my dream car
What a soundtrack. Just beautifully, lazily climbing up the revs. Just like a world class musician picking up their instrument and leisurely playing by themselves.
Very very nice car and sound. Indeed, not a lot of sacrifices to do in order to enjoy it as a daily car (except the price). Thx Matt
Beautiful car! With it having side pipes I thought it would be louder then it is.
Hey, like the commentary, the driver was modest in his remarks and didn't go out to show how fast he could drive.
i saw one of these at cars and coffee a year ago, amazing car
That thing makes music.
Nice soundtrack!
OMG what a car and what a road!
@Matt Farah I see you got your GT350! Congrats and keep up the great work. love your reviews.
That engine burble though!!! Exquisite!!!
I want one of these so freakin bad! And of course an AC Cobra from Superformance. As well as the gran sport. But the daytona... Damn that's the one.
This is a pretty awesome car. Sure, 185k is a bit steep, but I easily see how it's worth it. Looks like a great GT car for those who want a vintage feel w/o vintage performance/reliability. They really did a good job here, love the creature comforts like AC, very bad-ass. Very cool car.
Wow really tough job you got there .
Stylish ride!
That Daytona coupe is one sexy beast.
Matt, I do have to chuckle a bit at folks criticizing the work of Superformance & Jack Roush over quality & price. There are many shops out there building nice custom cars but if you're lucky, you get what you pay for. The reputation is built upon Engineering expertise and years of slogging through the work establishing that reputation. There's a very valid reason that some products cost more than others... if you're discerning enough, you can get what you pay for.
