What really got me was the final act of the film. I thought the movie was going to end on a bittersweet note, but then the film goes INSANE and I loved it so much because it showed the two main characters' payoff for the development they've gone through the whole film.
I often have a problem with a main villain appearing in the last 20 minutes of a movie but this movie not only did really well with vontras screen time and explained both why it took her so long to get there and why the movie had to end shortly after her introduction because she was *ruthless*
@@shealupkes I do have a theory that she's going to play an important role in the sequel; since the sequel book does introduce Roz's origins and her creator. Maybe Vontra goes crazy and is willing to kill other humans if it means getting rid of Roz. (・∀・) Also, I've been craving a good female villain, those are sadly really hard to come by. (Good examples are Azula from Avatar, Ursula from Little Mermaid, Zira from Lion King 2, Mother Gothel from Tangled)
@@shealupkes That's why I think that's a Good Thing that the Main Villain appears at the Film's 3rd Act, because Roz has bigger things to worry about besides the Main Villain, she does take VONTRA's Warning into account and Bittersweetly says goodbye to the Animals she had befriended and all the growth she went through with them, only to inevitably go back to where she came from and I WAS JUST IN TEARS & AWE AT THE LAST 10 minutes of the movie, and No amount of people criticizing the last 10 to 20 minutes of the movie can change my Opinion that This Movie is a 10/10 or the fact that this Movie is a Masterpiece in general

This film was goddamn fantastic, I am utterly shocked at how good it was, one of the best animated films I have seen. I am personally gonna vote for it as the best animated film this year. I love the way the movie starts. Flashing lights, intense storms and the boom. You’re dropped in the unknown and basically learning along side Roz where she is and what to do next. It’s a fantastic non set up set up that instantly made me feel immersed into the movie ^^
The fact that Chris Sanders wrote and directed this movie excites me the most. He has been in the animation industry for decades and it truly upsets me how a lot of people still don't know his name. From Lilo & Stitch to How To Train Your Dragon to The Croods and now this movie, Sanders is easily one of the greatest artists working in the animation industry. I really hope this could be a bigger hit for him. He's such a gem in animation industry, i adore him so much
It was so amazing. I saw it in 4Dx and that was quite the experience!!! Chair moving like crazy, wind blowing and getting misted and sprinkled with water in the theater. It was such an amazing story and the ending gave a lot of closure!!!!!
I remember seeing the first trailer for this movie, the one without any words, and saying to myself, “this is just going to be a 2 hour version of the 5 minute overwatch bastion cinematic”, I could not have been more wrong. The fact that the characters talk adds a whole new level of complexity and depth and i absolutely love them all. Roz is also just a cool design, the grappling hook arms the vright eyes that can act as a lighthouse and the detachable hands adds up for great action sequences that don’t outshine the rest of the movie
Regarding the animal behaviours, one of my favourites was when Fink literally dove into the snow like Arctic foxes do when they hunt for food, (there's a National Geographic video that they probably used as one of their many references from nature documentaries) he used the same tracking skills a standard fox would have to find the island's inhabitants.
Went into the theater with a casual invitation from my cousins not even having an idea about this movie except that it may have been directed twords kids, but a movie like this is one that will be timeless and shape their futures and instilling quality values and wisdom in them similar to Bluey maybe. THIS MOVIE HAD ME SHOOK AND SOBBING REMEMBERING THE THINGS THAT ARE ACTUALLY IMPORTANT TO US ❤
Yes! Today´s children are very lucky in this regard imo, they have so many great animated films with so much love and great positive message in them. 🥰I was born in 1982 and the only animated film i remember was The Last Unicorn. Very nice film, but upon rewatching it as an adult i was shocked at how dark and sad it was. 😔
The best part about this movie is it is focused on not just appealing to the kid demographic, but adult viewers who want good storytelling and characters. I personally love it when a movie brings great and simple characters from books to life. When I first heard about this movie it actually made me want to read the book! You don’t get that with many book-to-cinema movies nowadays. Not to mention, the music director went *all out* and TOTALLY COOKED with the music! It made the emotions really shine in the characters and myself included! A total blast of an adventure to watch on screen! I believe this was DreamWorks last movie they made in house before they outsource to other companies. What a great way to close an era of DreamWorks Animation! If you haven’t seen it yet, I strongly suggest giving it a watch. You’ll be amazed by the animation, music, characters, themes, and so much more! Side note: I want to point out that I came out of this movie remembering almost all the characters names and personalities. If a film can do that, in my opinion, you’ve made a darn good story!

i havent watched it but i read the books and i had a feeling that people wouldnt know that the book even exists but ive found someone else who can appreciate the book
Something I really like about this movie is the fact that they talk about disability and dont pull the punches about it, talking about Brightbill being a runt and how he would have died without Roz being there to provide special one on one care. Because the fact of the matter is he is small, he has weaknesses in regard to his abilities because of that and without someone to protect him when he was vulnerable and give him extra attention to help with that he actually would have died. And if he did everyone else would struggle because his unique outlook and knowledge is really important for continual survival! New ideas are super important. As someone who was born with a genetic mutation myself that causes my body to be different than everyone else and makes it so I struggle a lot to do things that other people can, this movie really meant a lot to me.
I really liked this movie, but I can't help but think that a version where the animals don't talk to Roz would be superior. A little part of my mind was giving a sigh of disappointment when she translated their speech within the first 10 or 15 minutes of the runtime and I can't help but think this would have been better as a minimal dialogue animated feature.
there were moments where i couldn’t breath because i was so amazed at the animation. i was on the brink of sobbing and in awe. just a movie that touched my soul. nothing i felt since Everything Everywhere all at Once.
