Hey everyone, the video is particularly about URBAN floods, floods that impact our cities and towns. As our Bharat continues to urbanize, we need to build better cities that can withstand floods. The video was made with an overall look at urban flooding that happens in our cities and what solutions can be done to counter the urban flooding problem. These solutions are different from those in rural areas. Similarly, the solutions to flooding in hilly areas will be different. This video specifically focuses on why Indian cities flood.
We have previously made a video on Assam floods, and donated to the cause as well. We have also donated for Bihar floods.

This issue can be resolved - if the greedy politicians, land mafia builders actually use the funds to build the proper infrastructure. The current administration is busy selling the resources of India to his cronies, so he does not have time to solve real issues that people are facing. The solutions are simple 1) Dedicate large spaces to grow enormous trees
      2) expand city infrastructure with proper city planning - the basic drainage systems need to handle more outgoing water
      3) Instead of cutting down more trees to build new roads, figure out how to re-use existing roads and help re-route the traffic
      4) Provide excellent low cost public transportation so that more people can travel easily 5) Provide proper security, wi-fi and good bathrooms in the public transportation so that more people take public transportation
      5) Provide incentives to people for using public transportation, thus eliminating pollution.

Just as you both mentioned various solutions implemented in the other countries, there was one thing common in all of those, and that was utilizing the space in vertical direction. I think we can leave the lower ground as it is and all new constructions should be made at a defined height. In this way, a natural drainage will take care of all the flood related problems and we won't have to compromise with greenery in urban areas too.

As an UPSC aspirant what i get
0:54 - flooding in north india
    1.landslides,
    2. heavy rains are responsible for this disaster,
3.lack of planning seems to be responsible,
4.Climate change impacts the hilly region in three major ways
    A.Due to rising temperatures,
B.rains are more severe and in less time.
C.Melting glaciers increase the level of rivers,
    and reckless development
    ""Negligence is the main reason""
    2:10 - economic impact
1.loss of billions of dollars to the Indian economy.
2.Asian Development Bank has said, more than 50% of
India's climate-related disasters are only because of floods.
    3. problem is unplanned development.------ case study - -Vietnam
-->because its cities are well planned.. like indian velly civilisation .. where housing plan like a grid pattern..
4.slums throw all their garbage in the river, a result, the river gets choked.
5.need for awareness in slum areas--- because they suffer the most ,due to a lack of cleanliness.

@@mr.immortal476 The people who have money to build 50L-1Cr homes are not the once who don't have food or money.
      So you are Wrong.
Why people go to unplanned farmland?
1 - People want to own house no matter what, even if renting a house is cheaper. (People have lots of expectation from restate investment)
2 - It's easy to break building rules in unplanned areas.
3 - People want a bigger house than they need.
4 - Lack of taste - People who hail from backward areas, can not sense any difference between a well planned area & an upside down semi urban area...! (Infact, many people don't even know the meaning of registration when they buy a house)
5 - DK measuring contest with relative - Especially when relatives also hail from backward areas and don't understand the benefits of well developed area, locality, quality of construction...
      Example:
In city of Bhopal, most posh area are MP Nagar, ShaktiNagar, ShaketNagar & AreraCollony. And all these projects were very successful.
Based on which BMC, developed 2 new localities. AyodhyaNagar & Airport road. With perfect roads, water supply, sewage, new police stations, parks... and even Metro!
Price of plots are from 40L to 4Cr.
Very few people have moved there in last 2 years.
Believe me, engineer working in BHEL with 10-20LPA package can easily afford house in that location.
But now, all these Dehaties recruits in BHEL, settled in a place called Awadhpuri. Place with shitty water supply, poor electricity, NO sewage (build your own),... entire area is unplanned maze...!
      So that's how people are.
Stop defending stupid people. People are stupid.

Hello Abhi and Niyu😄 I hope you both are doing well. I am from Amritsar and currently residing in Toronto. I am the student of Civil and Environmental Technology. Last year I had read the multiple ways of conserving water and preventing floods in my program. We in Toronto have pits system under the roads with an open cage like structure. These pits try to store the amount of water fall in the form of rains which are further connected with lakes, ponds etc. I just have thought we can also try to implement and execute this same technique which can save our citizens from the severe problems like Floods and with the construction of lakes or water reservoir or with the parks around them can also solve the problem of water scarcity for our countrymen😊.

But the question is India's population is rising way more faster than any one else in the world . Also countries with huge number of population have enough land area to expand and make plans accordingly to solve the issue ...
But in India population density is very high due to which construction and buildings are made for for development and accomodation.
I think that population density is one of the major factor for this.
