      @@mrbartuss1kind of, I have a background in long-distance running back when I ran XC competitively in high school so my mile isn’t too far off from 5 minutes, it’s just my deadlift that needs work, I’m at 405 rn and I don’t know how to train it more often without having it bleed into my recovery from running

    Working for a firm in the same ‘GS’ industry. Typically leave house at 7am and return at 8pm. Did the Omnia strength and half marathon program last year and I would say I completed 75% - 80% of sessions. I still totally benefitted from the program but just had to be easy on myself when I had to skip a session here and there. Being easy on yourself whilst still maintaining discipline is easier said than done though.

      Spot on mate great to hear, consistent pattern is the 🔑 and acknowledging when it can be wise to take the foot off the throttle.

    Definitely an odd question, but when it comes to double training days and showers, what’s your best advice e.g. shampoo both times, etc

    Great video!
    Let me share one tip that works for me (that may not work for others). I schedule the things I have to do on my own for the mornings (run, ride, gym, etc), and leave the evenings to things I do in a group (class, group rides, group runs, etc). Having the "I have to let them know if I can't go" responsibility helps me a lot.

    Another really good take, due to the gym opening times I have to do my runs in the AM and train in the PM, try to limit doing lower body strength on those running days and have a set day for that. Usually an upper body session in the evenings after running in the AM, running has been the focus but just finished my first ultra and trying to recover up before hitting running again while going for some more strength based goals.

    Can't offer a reliable track timetable, but have used these principles along with suggestions from other vids of yours to good use - PR'd all 3 big lifts this year and completed 5 marathons in 5 days just yesterday! Thanks and now looking at bigger challenges, because the only way to know what's possible is to give it a good old try!!!💪

    My double sessions allways happen in the morning due to work.
    Maybe not allways beneficial but needs must. But organisation the night before is key.

    Whenever I lift weights before running I’m almost always brutalised by doms in the legs, glutes and lower back when I go for my run.
    Whereas when I run first my body generally feels like it’s been under less stress than if I was lifting, although this only really applies if I’ve been lifting for legs or OHP.

    In your Omnia programing you recommend back to back sessions being the preferred method, rather than an AM/PM split. Whats the reasoning behind that?

    Asking myself if double sessions in favor of 1-2 more rest days is better than several sessions in a week just once a day with only 0-1 rest day in terms of recovery and prevent from overtraining?

    Great insights. I've been looking into doing a double day for run + gym once per week. If only doing 1 double day per week do you think it's optimal for recovery purposes to do gym on the day you have a hard effort run? (If for example I am running 6 days per week + 1 complete rest day).

    • @ferguscrawley95
      @ferguscrawley95  4 месяца назад

      Requires more context for me to comment on optimality I’m afraid.

      Speak for yourself. He does it to take on his own health and fitness goals, and so he can (and continue to) interact with his kids without physicality/age limiting him.
      You can choose the above, or you can choose to be cynical… I know which I’d rather 🤷‍♂️
