    ♥ Hi, my name is Lori and my goal is to teach, inspire and live off the land in style by knitting my own clothes, creating essential survival items and living luxuriously warm, dyeing fibre using bright acid colours and occasionally plants, fungi, muck and mud.
    When I began wet felting 10 years ago, there were only a few basic tutorials. On this channel, I want to share everything I know so so that you can easily begin upgrading your craft by creating remarkable fibre art more quickly. From illustrative conceptual ideas into beautiful creative work that is ready to repeat quickly using minimal tools and resources.

    I absolutely love the way you've figured out to keep embellishments onto the felt. Brilliant! Thank you!

      Thank you 😊 Lots of experimenting. So glad I found the nylon. Although some silks work really well too. That reminds me of another or a few other videos to do!

    The clutch is approximately 30cm x 31.5cm, 4 layers of uncombed Merino Wool, not brushed, it’s fluffier, and I love this wool because it felts less densely and has a more even, non directional finished look.
    Then I’ve added two crosshatched layers of the purple Combed silk Merino which makes the nylon difficult to attach… so I recommend not using silk merino and nylon, it took a long time for the fibres to migrate through. But definitely experiment!
    Once finished, it took on more of the nylon fabric colour then the purple underneath. Something to consider when using the fabric. Next time I would prefer purple fabric with the purple Merino.

    I like the magnetic hidden closure for this so you can see the sparkles. Love this tutorial!

      Same, thank you. I think I will work on a seamless felt clasp so it all blends nice. Will take a bit of extra work.

    Okay this is mind blowing and expansive just like your galactic design! I had know idea you could use nylon + beads... Or nylon itself!
    Did you use a separate piece of nylon for each side or did it cover both sides? Then you trim the nylon and felt loose edges on if any?
    Thankyou for all your creativity, advice and tutorials! So awesome! ✳️✨ I will be sure to tip and buy you a coffee/treats. Super cool project! I can't wait to try it! 💜💜💜

    That was SO much fun! I was hoping you would have found something like a miniature disco ball for the clasp.

      Yes 🙌 I do think it needs something quite shiny, quite flashy. I didn’t have anything suitable in my stash. So next time I’m in the craft store… Glad you liked it 😊

    Hi Lori ! Love the Videos! I have learned so much from you ! Thank you ! ❤️ i was wondering when you cut the nylon off and if it felted in easily at the edge ? Also what kind of sparkles do you use ? I couldn't make out the brand . I appreciate all the details you include it has been so helpful as I continue to learn and experiment!

    • @muffsmerino
      @muffsmerino  Год назад +2

      Hi Terry! Thanks for your encouraging comment. The cut nylon edge did end up felting near the end. You would never be able to find it. But for a while it was loose and hanging off the project. Next time I would fold it over so that the cut edge is on a flat part of the project and not on the edge.
      The glitter is "Sullivans'. Also, Aliexpress has some really nice glitter packs. You can also buy larger sized glitter so that it wont come through sheer silk fabrics ;)

      She’s shiny! The more I use the beads the more I just want to make felt things with beads. I can imagine there will be more beads applied to more projects. Bead hat, bead vest, bead bag, bead scarf 😂 Thank you for your lovely comment. Always so encouraging.

      @@muffsmerino I love the shiny!!! And,bead it all!! I got inspired watching this to do something with a carving technique and on the inside of where it's slashed have all the sparklies and beads like you did,if that makes sense😁

      @@jessicadanielson4543 Um Oh Yes!!! 🙌
      I completely forgot about that technique. Where you hide things in the felt then cut it open to reveal! Don’t want to steal your glory haha but I definitely will need to do a video on that one. Love that technique. I’m Inspired back 😆 too bad can’t post photos on here. Would love to see your finished work!
      Also, I sometimes wonder if I’m the only one that likes shiny wool.

      Hi Gabriela, somehow I missed your comment. 8 days ago now! I am so happy to hear that the videos are helpful. Are you making felted flowers? I wish photos could be posted in the comments. I would love to see them. So only naturally coloured fleece? Have you considered dyeing the fleece yourself? Keep looking! Sometimes it can be hard to find. I’m in New Zealand and sometimes need to go direct to small farmer, who might also be processing and dyeing the wool. But sometimes I don’t find the colours I want so I ended up dyeing it myself.

    What is the netting you put over at the end and where did you get it? Thank you this bag is beautiful!

    • @muffsmerino
      @muffsmerino  6 месяцев назад +3

      Hi Chris, the netting is a ‘sheer nylon scarf’ from the dollar store. I’ve seen them online from Aliexpress too. Maybe Amazon. Google sheer nylon scarf. It should come up. Make sure it’s nylon and not polyester.

  • @andreawager7476
    @andreawager7476 Год назад +1

    Wonderful! So, the mesh that you used, is that the same type of mesh that you would use to cover your piece before wetting? Only you leave it on and felt it in? If that makes sense....😊

    • @muffsmerino
      @muffsmerino  Год назад +3

      I think a lot of that netting is polyester. I haven’t used the netting in a long time. This is a natural nylon fabric. I bought it at an op shop and then It took me ages, years to figure out what it was and where to find it 😆 then I found it in a dollar store and the tag says “nylon scarf” or type in “sheer nylon scarf” this is the only way I can seem to find it online…
      Silk is much nicer and softer to use if you can find a tightly woven sheer silk but the nylon scarf keeps the tiny bits in.
