¡¡¡You Rock!!! You are a really practic person, I love that. Your students are very lucky to have you. :). And it's great you make a tutorials, casuse everyone has access to your tecniques and experience, like me. Thanks a lot
Recently was gifted some wool for felting but I haven't done any in years. Want to make earrings with small felted balls but not sure how to put a hole in a strongly felted ball. Googled & found your video and loved it! Your method looks really easy. Thanks.
I make felted wool beads in much the same way to do micro-embroidery on them. Usually, I tack the ball shape together with needlefelting and finish with wet felting. I roll them between my hands. I'm going to try out your bowl suggestion. It looks way more efficient. ❤
Lovely tutorial, just in time as I need some for Christmas packaging but in the uk they are not so easy to get hold of and I have a goodly selection of wool felt tops. Thanks
Great tutorial. I always wanted to make felt ball. They are so cute. They make a great embellishment. But I don't have woolen roving. I tried with woolen yarn. It came out somewhat good . I wanna make a video on that for my channel. I hope it will turn out good. Your tips are lot helpful to me. Thanks 😊 👍🏻
I have a long-haired very floofy cat: when I de-shed him I get so much fur that I started rolling it into balls, but I have never used soap. What does the soap actually do, and is it possible to get it fully washed out? I don't like using wool felted balls because my other cat chews them, I don't know how safe the dyes are, and they can come apart. The "hairballs" don't seem to, though. Both cats absolutely LOVE batting them around and chasing them--because they are so lightweight they go really fast and far.
another way is to put enough wool into a double side tea strainer and it into hot soapy water and shake a few times and it will make a perfect ball and no wet hands.
THANKS for the ideas I'm going to do it....in the past, I heard there is a technique to make felted balls in old panty hose tied in between the throw 'em into a hot was cycle any one else know about this? ?
That is for large balls, like dryer balls. We have a very old tutorial for that....back before we made videos...so it is just a few steps. www.livingfelt.com/freefeltingpatterns/FeltingBallsWashingMachine.html My dog was still a puppy then, so I used this technique to make dog toys...now he is a 16yr old grandpa :)
Why is the plastic bubble wrap helpful? One time I put cat hair in a plastic bag to save for felting one day, and my cat got ahold of the bag and gnawed on it for a while. I guess she got the clump wet too. It became very firmly wet felted together, I couldn't use it at all anymore.
Do you know approximately the weight of the wool it takes to make one ball? I’m looking at getting a set of a bunch of colors with 5g per color, and I’m hoping to make at least several balls of each color.
Ah! Ok! Kind of like white knuckling it, which I learned during pilot lessons because I was squeezing the yoke so tight in stress. ha ha Thank you. That makes sense.
Hi Lily, thank you for your note :) The wool we used to make the beads is here: feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Short-Fiber-Merino-Batts-19-microns_c_120.html
I love this tutorial but it would be helpful to not have people talking while she's shaking the felt balls. Or the opposite: not shaking the balls while people are talking. :-) Same difference - just a little hard to hear. Also, it would be helpful if you repeat the questions the off camera ladies are asking. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
Very cute. You are such a great teacher!
BEST CAT TOYS EVER!
I've learned several ways to felt balls. This is by far the very best and easiest way to felt balls. Thanks
We are so glad you found it useful and easy, Joan! :) Thank you for your kind feedback!

Thank you, Tracy! :)
I envy you guys for all the wool you have.... I always watch and wish that I had that much to use ...
Awe...we don't keep it all :) We are happy to ship it to our friends...where ever you are!
I wonder if you could do this in the washing machine with the right soap
This is great, thanks. I wondered why my felt ball has a line gap on it - any tips?
can you make felt balls out of acrylic yarn? I used to crochet a lot and I have lots of acrylic yarn. Can I brush it out and make them that way?

How about putting the beads in the cake mixer with dough hook? Maybe it might work... worth experimenting? ❣️🌹
Give it a go! You do need them to bounce around a bit
Thank you soooo much MY CAT LIKE NEEDLE FELTED THINGS ESPECIALLY BALLS AND I'M TOO TIRED TO DO IT BUT THIS SAVED ME THANK YOU SOOOO MUCHHH
Great technique. Must try :)

Yes! Wecshare this technique also..great for making a few beads and great for kids :)
That's a great idea.😊
What is vinegar soak ... & can we fast dry them in a dryer? ...

I LOVE your videos. I wonder if someone used a salad spinner.

Hi sister good morning
I am making this felt ball I am from Nepal where are you from
Do you know approximately the weight of the wool it takes to make one ball? I’m looking at getting a set of a bunch of colors with 5g per color, and I’m hoping to make at least several balls of each color.
Did you say you are "white nailing it here" when you were rolling that first bead? I listened a couple of times and did not understand what you said.
RoseThistleArtworks haha... yes.. meaning I am pressing hard enough to turn my nail beds white...
Ah! Ok! Kind of like white knuckling it, which I learned during pilot lessons because I was squeezing the yoke so tight in stress. ha ha Thank you. That makes sense.
Using a light fiber on the dark square would make it much more visible.
How do you determine how much soap you need?
Your water should feel "slick", not going for suds, just a nice, slick solution. Have fun!
where do you buy your roving wool?
We supply it... www.livingfelt.com ;)
Hi, I like your work. Where I can find that felt material. I am new in this. I want to learn. Thanks
Hi Lily, thank you for your note :) The wool we used to make the beads is here:
feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Short-Fiber-Merino-Batts-19-microns_c_120.html
Can we use soft felt pieces for this?
Very good video, now I'm gonna start making my own beads!!🙂 Thank you!!!❤🙂(Would have been nice if you lifted the camera a little bit up🙂)
Where’s a good place to find wool like that? I always have a hard time trying to find it!
Well, you can get it from us! :) feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Short-Fiber-Merino-Batts_c_120.html
You made it look so easy to roll the wool but I have an unravelling ball every time
That is a lot of work! They arent very expensive to buy already made
I’d like a tutorial regarding “repairs” aka oh crap moments in the middle of a project

Wonder if a salad spinner would work 🙂
Give it a go!
That is definitely not a salad spinner
