Can we get a lesson on how to stop blundering pieces? Sometimes I get really tunnel visioned on what I thought was a good move and end up getting smacked by a Bishop on a long diagonal.
The way to stop blundering is a mixture of thinking ahead and playing good developing moves. Also don’t let yourself get super pinned by pieces where your forced to give up, if you feel the pressure move the piece back. I’m almost 1400 in lichess so I know some stuff.
Place pieces were they are protected or draw a + and × and Knight jumps before moving your piece, then check if there are enemy piece there that can threat your pieces, if he piece you want to move is a rook, queen or king be careful of x-ray attacks and knight forks. I guess you will have to play a 20 or 30min match to do this.
He's already done a video of this on the basic principles of chess. But simply, the lesson is just *'check what opponent pieces are attacking a square before you move to it.'* which anybody should be able to do really quickly once you know how all the pieces move.
Respect for taking the time and effort to apologize (though not necessary nor expected). I didnt think the previous video was clickbait, but this once again really shows how self conscious and humble you are as a content creator and that is always so refreshing. God bless bro! Great vid as usual. ❤
My guy, a loss is not embarrassing if you can’t learn something from it. You took it a step further and taught us something. Thanks for sharing! Love your vids
Nelson bro you dont need to apologize i watch you pricecly because you dont use click baity tactics on your thumbnails dont sweat it mate we all no whats up😊😊
I've been watching a lot of videos on this channel lately, your pacing and explanation of concepts really works for me. Thanks for helping me get better at chess.
After my move I'm not good enough to take my eye off the board I'm always thinking about what I can do and what he can do. I'm doing something right, caring is sharing ,to take is a mistake. I like these catchy phrases. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Teacher Nelson...my Chess Mato Like yours Think sharp...play Smart is my policy...Think twice...move nice....if I gain time by my opponent thinking I have a time advantage. My Father told me and HE WAS RIGHT. Great useful info....
I watched the last video, and while it was a little clickbaity, I also thought it was funny enough to forgive it. Thanks for the lesson here; I imagine this was not an easy game to show.
Thanks for this vid Nelson! The first video wasn’t really click bait but it was a little disappointing, I was expecting your regular educational videos. We know that this is still a business so i wouldn’t mind seeing you post those types of vids but just be a little more transparent in the beginning of the advertisement
That video wasn't click bait-y. There is another chess channel that is also click bait titles Not mentioning anyone by name but he lives in the same city as batman. 😊😊
MAGNUS QUITS ...drinking after two shots of whiskey after winning Airthings Masters 2023. Here is a picture. He doesn't have another tournament for two weeks, but he has to be very conservative about alcohol to stay in top form. Anyway, here are a couple games. I am going to say things like "Hello! Wake up! Nuh uh. KNIGHT. TAKES. E. SEVEN! Goodbye! Where are your pawns? What is your bishop doing?"
Yesterday also i took a lot of time thinking and wasted the time, althou gh i was up a knight and two pawns, i blundered and lost on time, from then i decided to manage my time well🎉
On a related side note, do you know what I find baffling in the modern world? The fact that, seemingly, many chess players seem to be completely unaware that chess can be played without clocks (at least in real life). In fact, chess was played just fine for _centuries_ without any clocks, especially casual chess. It almost feels like many people have the misconception that clocks are mandatory in chess. I'm not even kidding. Where I live there's literally no place, no group, no club, nothing at all, where people would play chess without clocks. I'm dead serious. I have searched and searched, and there exists no such place here. Also I'm not kidding or exaggerating when I say that when I have suggested at a couple of places if we could just play casually without clocks, I got looks like I was crazy or something. It seems to me that, for some very strange reason, most chess players cannot even comprehend the concept of playing without clocks. You can see this on youtube as well: Try finding one single video of people playing over the board without clocks. Good luck. You won't find it. (Well, at least I haven't encountered a single such video.) (Why am I ranting about this? Because I would love to just play chess casually in real life. Just play at a free pace, have a nice conversation, socialize, talk about stuff, no pressure, a nice relaxing situation, perhaps comment the game as you play it. No time pressure, no mistakes made because of low time, no clock ending the game when it's getting interesting. An overall enjoyable experience of playing chess casually. I would love to experience this, but it's just impossible. There are no people here who are willing to do this, and I cannot comprehend why.)
At 9:35, Ne7 followed by Nc8 was another option where both get queens. IF he takes the knight, your way is better; but, if he pushes the pawn, you lose.
I feel like maybe h4 might be good in place of Bc5, but idk what the engine thinks. I think the pawn is easier for the bishop to defend this way, it stifles the black king and pawn a bit. Bc5 was probably an ok enough use of one tempo in the position though. I could be wrong and h4 could be bad, but I'm not Stockfish.
2:31 When I was going to chess tournaments (a few decades ago), I wondered whether it was ethical to think while the opponent's clock was running. Glad to see that that's not a bad thing. (Incidentally, I can't recall any games where I lost on time.) 6:18 "The toughest thing to do in chess is to win a winning position."
I actually thought the click bait in the last video was very well done and tongue in cheek Unfortunately it seems to be a massive part of RUclips so you might as well joke about it
Nelson is like the last person I would go to for chess time management. - You play really slow in general, your clock in the rating climb is always WAAAAY behind your opponent. Partly because you're talking to us and over theorising the early moves, but a bit later on I reckon it will be a problem for you VS good opponents that have so much left on their clock that they can just run out yours.

He has made a video about this I think it’s pretty early in the elo climb series, the big one for me was to check every piece
Before moving

Great vid as usual. ❤
Me playing 5 min blitz: *premoves every move*
Also me: *times out with opponent having **2:00** on the clock*
Exactly

This is a great way of teaching and reinforces that I should be trying to learn more from my losses. Good time management tip too. Thank you!
10:25 dont worry nelson there was no way of seeing this with 16sec left on clock literally no way

It was pretty clickbaity, but it wasn't dishonest at all. I had nothing against it, but maybe it's because I like this channel.
You are almost gm advance congrats 🎉🎉 nelson 😉

Chess vibes...... The only channel I need

What do you call when Nelson get a deja vu moment while playing chess?
The Nelson Mandela effect
Pausing at 9:57 knight e7 and the king cant take because of the bishop.

Thanks jus what I needed thank u Nelson much love always happy to buy your courses and support this channel
Thank you so much for the content! :)
congrats on passing 2400, nelsi
Thanks for the advice. I play rapid or blitx usually and I play a tad bit slow.
I didnt know shifu was playing chess 💀
lmao and the background is perfect
the clock is a piece
10:00 Does Knight E7 work aswell?
Awesome video. Most of the games I lose is from timeouts. I think 70% of them are timeouts.

That's the trick? To not just sit there doing nothing whilst your opponent is thinking?

Hey, Nelson, clickbait is good marketing, specially if not mase on purpose xDD go sell those videos uwu
no it isnt, there's no need for it. his subscribers will watch the videos anyway, no need to mislead them.
