      They put some adhesive on the track, I think it's glue, so the tires don't spin when they launch. Me too I didn't expect them to be that fast! I was like WTF I can't even see the damn cars after the launch ! Lol

    Great Hobby. Used to be a book at my school about racing slot cars. The HO scale was popular when I was a kid. Have fun.

      I haven't either but I'm guessing it makes it more fair.. Maybe the air coming off the cars could mess each other up so doing time trials is the best option..? Not sure but good question lol

      Its bracket racing, a slow car can race a fast car and still win by being closer to their times!! The tree comes down separate according to their times which each racer gives the drag racing Marshall before each race. Hope this helps, lots of fun

    • @PurpleSpcaeCadet
      @PurpleSpcaeCadet 7 лет назад +1

      definitely not stock. when i was racing, my motors and chassis were heavily modified. back then we took it seriously. i need to find some tracks in NJ and bring my cars out again.

    • @buffsabres1234
      @buffsabres1234 7 лет назад

      yeah I can modify motor as well but when they are security sealed for special classes theres not much modifying you can do to them to increase performance

    • @southjerseysound7340
      @southjerseysound7340 7 лет назад

      You can still match the springs tension,center the mags with some luck and blueprint the brush hoods etc.But you're right the sealed classes are pretty limited although that's the point,thankfully there's plenty of non sealed classes.
      PurpleSpace Cadet-I posted a few on another video for you but where are you from in NJ?

    • @PurpleSpcaeCadet
      @PurpleSpcaeCadet 7 лет назад +1

      SouthJerseySound I'm in passaic county. close to the giants stadium.

    • @southjerseysound7340
      @southjerseysound7340 7 лет назад

      PurpleSpace Cadet-Speedzone is probably right around a hour maybe less from you and it's worth the drive.There's also The Race Place that has been around for 30 something years south of you (maybe closer) and then in NYC their's the classic Buzzy's Buzarama in the city and the legendary racers hangout of Port Jefferson out on Long Island.......I've yet to get to Buzzy's or The Race Place but I hear they have a little bit of character to them from having been around for so long(especially Buzzy's).Whereas Speedzone and Port Jeff Raceway are top notch modern facilities owned by racers.
      All are really great places to visit but for the first time out of the gate in a lot of years I'd recommend Speedzone and Port Jeff although I dont know if PJ has a drag strip.I highly recommend giving it a go again,my daughter loves it and so does my wife as it gets me away for the day lol. Also this time around I've met nothing but helpful friendly people from all walks of life.It seems the downturn really got rid of the A**holes that used to race so that is a bonus ;-)

    How are they stopping so quick?

    • @cameronstinson7447
      @cameronstinson7447 8 лет назад

      they cut the power off the tradk

    • @southjerseysound7340
      @southjerseysound7340 7 лет назад +1

      There's a traction compound called glue on the track that is super thick at the finish line and they also are probably using the motor as a brake too but some tracks dont use it.Essentially it's like regenerative brakes on a hybrid but simpler ;) When you disconnect the power the motor actually makes a small amount of dc current.Now if you short out the 2 wires it will use it and the magnets force to slow the thing down really fast.On the road race style cars they even have a adjustable brake on most of the controllers to reduce the braking force because its pretty high on some of them.

    • @codeman99-dev
      @codeman99-dev 7 лет назад

      What +SouthJerseySound said. Also, there is only one set of gears. No transmission means there is nothing to disengage. Last, remember that electric motors produce all of torque almost instantly, so the braking force SJS was talking about increases as you slow down.

    It's gotten ridiculous with the speed! You can't appreciate the cars like you used to, back in the '60's, and '70's!!! Sorry folks!!! I'm an old timer, 63, but when things become invisible,,, then what's the point?!?!?!?!?!

      TheMlc4life It's called bracket racing. It's a way for slower cars to race faster ones. Each car has what they call a dial in time which is how fast they can run. If they run too fast it's called breaking out and they lose. That's also why you see one guy get a green light before the other one does. I hope that helps you out.

      What's wrong with making the track more tacky, they do it in real life aswell. Ever walked across an in use drag strip? Your feet can get completely stuck sometimes.

    • @cagleracing8462
      @cagleracing8462 4 года назад

      Yeah but the whole damn track has glue on it, it should only be at the end to slow the cars to stop them, this is not drag racing its glue racing

      I see what your saying.......for me, it's about building the car...(I like hard plastic bodies from model kits n such)...you can enjoy it and admire the beauty as its sitting on the shelf, in the case, or on the starting line, but when the lights come down...for me anyway, it turns into the science of the race, the numbers up on the screen.......reaction time, 60 foot, 660ft, elapsed time....mph. and the win hopefully.
