well, the needlepoint wasn't what fixed Merida's curse on her mother. it was Merida finally admitting that the situation was her fault and accepting responsibility for her actions.
While the souls we see *are* going to Earth, one of the Jerrys mentions they'll take Joe to "the Earth portal," which kind of implies the existence of other portals to other places, which wouldn't be too hard to believe. I really doubt the entire great before is dedicated exclusively to Earth tbh
especially since jerry said they are the "coming together of *all* quantized fields of the universe." so bascially the pixar universe, of which onward is a part of.
Surprised you didn't have Boo on your list. In her search for Sully, she throws off the count by taking over the body of the old lady in Brave, a movie that takes place centuries before Soul.
She didn’t take over the body, that is her body. She goes through time a traveling door, one of the ones from the scare factory in monsters Inc. disguised to look like a cabin door so it would not be noticed, but can still travel through time over the course of the movie only having to go through a small space to get to the other door. Hence, the cabin.

Maybe Merida was actually travelling into the future when she entered the cabin, and the empty cabin she saw later on was the one in the present.
Here’s what I think: the count being off doesn’t ONLY mean someone who was supposed to die, did not. It could ALSO be, someone died.. WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE EXISTED. An EXTRA death! Was the old witch BORN that long ago? Or did she travel through time? If she did travel through time as the Carlin’s theory suggests, her death would indeed throw off the count.
@@claudiaciempka8781 It is as you can see that old lady is acutally Boo if you look closer at the stuff she has made you can see sullivan on one of the wood thingy
@@lilkittyashy9858 All that means is she knows Sullivan, or knows that Sullivan was going to be born. The brave movie takes elements from McBeth, and in Macbeth Scottish witches tell the future. I’m sorry, but I am a bit of a doubting Thomas when it comes to the concept of time travel in the Pixar theory. I believe most of everything else I hear in the Pixar theory [that all the movies exist in the same universe, and emotions and mentality having the power to strengthen or weaken things, depending on how they think], but until they make a movie that currently deals with time travel, it’s a bit hard for me to believe that boo and the wood carving witch are one and the same person.
ok, something I just realized about Brave. At the end of the movie, Merida has also reunited the four clans. Four clans = four brothers. Her father is the Bear King. I think she is actually descended from Mordu and by reuniting the clans, AKA the brothers, she also broke his curse as well. I know there's the 24 hours to break the curse line, but what if the spell happening again restarted that count for him as well and made him mortal again? just a thought.
I mean technically Merida DOES bring back her mother with her apology with confession of love, not with the tapestry. So that IS kind of like walle and eves hand holding.
I love the way that the Jerry’s responded to Terry telling them the count’s off. “Hey yo, fellow cosmic beings that don’t actually have a physical form but look however you’re perceived by the humans you interact with, I have come to alert you that someone literally cheated death, and are now running amok somewhere.” “.....ok and?”
This just made me think... maybe the Jerrys dismissed Terry when he said he would figure it out because he spent a lot of time last time the count was off trying to figure out who it was, but never could because he didn't really die.
Middle child here, I was treated as the youngest due to how high maintenance I was as an Autistic kid with ADHD. I usually got the most attention, although I never actually realized this until recently.
Michael Gillespie Autistic middle child getting the most attention too. Grant my younger sister is also on the spectrum, but when it came to the election our parents listened when I told them not to talk about the results. The younger sister was just as concerned and scared but it was mainly about my feelings and stressors. Same with January 6 where my older sister was concerned about my reaction more than my younger sister's who probably felt more than just laughing at what I thought was a Hunger Games recreation. (This is not a subject to discuss politics, I was basically using the most recent example of my family giving me more attention than my younger sister despite me being the middle child).
I never considered that, but if Terry seems to know about what souls are and aren't supposed to be there, wouldn't he know Jesus was supposed to come back to life? One of the Jerries pretty much confirmed the existence of both Heaven and "H-E double hockey sticks" when they told Joe he was in the great before. Therefore God *definitely* exists in Soul and it's possible he would have told Terry, one or more Jerries, or both about Jesus' resurrection.
@@jaydenmichael5188 Terry knows the count. Does Terry know anything more than the figures? I don’t think so. Then naturally the count would be off for Terry centuries ago (about 20) because Terry wouldn’t have known the resurrection plan. Terry isn’t too bright if the Jerries could rig the count so easily for Joe at the end. It could have been fixed that way before or some other more “divine directive” way.
I think that because Joe was in the zone right before he died, it made it easier for him to break through the barrier. A lot of people have probably tried to get out of the great beyond, but I think Joe was able to because of his association with the zone.
so how would Boo NOT throw off the count? if she is a time traveler when is she supposed to die? does she never die creating a similar situation as mordu??
The thing about time travel is that if it is possible to go backward, as the Theory suggests, it always happened that way. The past becomes the traveler's present. They were always going to go back, and so they were always expected to die in the past. Time Travel doesn't disrupt the count.
What about Boo? She could have lived after Joe, which would throw off the count when she dies, but she'd die in the Dark Ages. She would die before she was born, a soul, that hadn't even jumped.
Before Ben ruled out 'The Good Dinosaur', I was thinking that maybe the lack of a dinosaur extinction in this universe would have thrown off the count (but I get why Ben ruled it out).
Cross over theory time: The only reason Miguel could live in the land of the dead in Coco was because that was the exact same time the count was off in Soul.

I prefer Issac's theory that Boo disrupted the count by going back in time and dying centuries before she was supposed to, but this is still plausible. Maybe it was off twice at around the same time?
The soul could be Jesus, they had some saints so maybe they are making a reference to that. He rose from the dead that would throw off the count for sure.
Yeah, I completely agree with the whole, "How come no one else has jumped off the conveyor belt" thing. I mean, if you look at what happened to the souls, they appear to be LITERALLY HURLED INTO THE SUN AND DISCINTEGRATED. I don't know about you, but if I was on a conveyor belt and saw the people ahead of me seemingly being hurled into the sun, I would not want to follow them.
Terry tells Jerry that is isn’t possible for the count to be off because that hasn’t happened in centuries...Implying that they discovered that mordue was turned into a bear and trapped alive on Earth by a witch (Boo) but died after the curse was lifted (crushed to death). Terry says it isn’t possible for the count to be off...like either it’s not possible because it’s been too soon since the last witchy incident...or because they know that during this time Boo is not a witch time-spacey traveler, but a little girl being scared by the monsters in her closet. And maybe the witch boo is dead already?
@@killernyancat8193 i do not mind, but for starters a reason the witch or some might say boo might have sully as a statue is maybe due to the doors might beinh able to take you different places in time, maybe sometime after the movie they used a door and traveled to a certain place in time and the witch maybe spotted them and decided to make those sculptures for a reason and not because she is boo. I don't have much evidence on this theory however.
Terry seems to be able to keep track of the count regardless of where they are. As long as they can pull up the conveyor belt and their abacuses (abacai?). And probably keeps counting while searching for Joe. Remember these are superior beings (for lack of a better term) and are seemingly capable of doing several things at a time.
I think that when joe falls through the manhole, he almost dies, but is still alive, and they accidentally put him in the great beyond conveyer. Because they wouldn't put him into the hospital if he died, so he is still just barely alive.
I think the point was he was supposed to die. As he talks about in the video for Mordue, he was supposed to die but Joe changed his fate. At the time when Joe fell, he was rushed to the hospital because he was "dying" but he didn't actually die. Or, it simply is that Joe's fate was to actually help 22, so that she could become whomever she did (I personally like to believe she became either Ellie or Wall-E) and impact another change of events.
@@luvpugz6458 I do not think that is right. If that were the truth then someone who is saved from the brink would say there is a giant galaxy with a conveyer belt leading into it when they are brought back. I think Terry made a mistake and thought he was dead, this makes him an even dumber individual.
Additional theory: Darth Plagueis the Wise threw off the count. (I made a woopsie and forgot he couldn't save himself from death, even though he could save others with the force lol)
He died though, "he could save others from death, but not himself" and all that, now what he to Darth Venamis on the other hand, yes that would throw the count off
I know this is old but I'm really disappointed that boo wasn't the one that the count was off for. After all if she is the witch in Brave she didn't die in the proper timeline but she also created an extra count whenever she did die in The Brave timeline
Man, I just had this feeling that it was going to be Flynn Rider. He dies, Rapunzel has some magic moment with a golden flower, and then Flynn comes back to life. Duuuuuude how is that not it!?!??!! Still good theory tho. I can get on board
what if the "count" is referring to souls entering the belt and going to the great beyond so if someone dies and enters the belt he adds 1 to the count, and after they leave to the great beyond he removes 1 but joe entered the belt and got off, so 1 was added but not removed
I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the wall-e theory, as shown in the beginning of the video, the ambiguity of how “time” flows in soul led to confusion that was later justified as the Jerrys in the great before gazing upon the human timeline that moves linearly from an outside perspective, and it’s mentioned that the jerrys (and terry ig) are multidimensional entities that have only taken a form that souls could see. This implies that these entities have access to and/or live in at least the 4th dimension, which scientifically is the dimension of space time. This dimension would theoretically allow for the movement, forwards or backwards, through time. This all comes together to my point that, since these entities have access to the entirety of time, past and future, that they’re quoting of “the count hasn’t been off in centuries” could just be lingo for “the count hasn’t been off since a period of time centuries away from this period”, since they would be able to see all of time and move forward/backwards through it. This would remedy the one fallacy for wall-e being a candidate, which was that the terrys were talking about centuries in the past. Plus it was mentioned that WALL·E would be a perfect candidate otherwise. So that’s my theory
The problem with that one is the timing. Boo seems to live in a rather modern era, likely the same range of decades as Soul. Boo going back in time would disrupt the count at the point she travelled, not the point she arrived.
Why is it that even though I watch all of your videos in a random order, I somehow manage to perfectly alternate between brothers every video I watch????

She didn’t take over the body, that is her body. She goes through time a traveling door, one of the ones from the scare factory in monsters Inc. disguised to look like a cabin door so it would not be noticed, but can still travel through time over the course of the movie only having to go through a small space to get to the other door. @@roastedlemon but she died in the past therefore they would be plus 1 a soul until her soul leaves to enter the body at birth.
@@raylop80731 this all assumes she dies in Mereda's time period. The idea is the Witch is Boo travelling through time looking for Sully. What reason would she have to stay in Merida's time if she's looking for Sully? @@TamTroll have you seen the cabin? By the looks of it shes been there for a bit. Yes its possible that she left the time period but its also possible she died there.

Here’s what I think: the count being off doesn’t ONLY mean someone who was supposed to die, did not. It could ALSO be, someone died.. WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE EXISTED. An EXTRA death! ok, something I just realized about Brave. At the end of the movie, Merida has also reunited the four clans. Four clans = four brothers. Her father is the Bear King. I know there's the 24 hours to break the curse line, but what if the spell happening again restarted that count for him as well and made him mortal again? just a thought.

Could the "count being off" just be a reference to Christianity's founding story (i.e., the death and resurrection of one special guy)?
I like this idea!
That was what I thought when I originally heard the line
I never considered that, but if Terry seems to know about what souls are and aren't supposed to be there, wouldn't he know Jesus was supposed to come back to life? One of the Jerries pretty much confirmed the existence of both Heaven and "H-E double hockey sticks" when they told Joe he was in the great before. Therefore God *definitely* exists in Soul and it's possible he would have told Terry, one or more Jerries, or both about Jesus' resurrection.
It's sounds like you're being held at gunpoint to not say the words "Bible" and "Jesus".
@@jaydenmichael5188 Terry knows the count. Does Terry know anything more than the figures? I don’t think so. Then naturally the count would be off for Terry centuries ago (about 20) because Terry wouldn’t have known the resurrection plan. Even though she time-travels, it's clear that she still ages, so she would die at some point in time, just not necessarily her own time.
That's a... Very good point.
The thing about time travel is that if it is possible to go backward, as the Theory suggests, it always happened that way. The past becomes the traveler's present. They were always going to go back, and so they were always expected to die in the past. Time Travel doesn't disrupt the count.

I’ll bet that when Merida eventually dies Terry just starts practically worshipping her for finally correcting the count after it was off for so long.

Terry seems to be able to keep track of the count regardless of where they are. As long as they can pull up the conveyor belt and their abacuses (abacai?). I think the point was he was supposed to die. As he talks about in the video for Mordue, he was supposed to die but Joe changed his fate. At the time when Joe fell, he was rushed to the hospital because he was "dying" but he didn't actually die. so if someone dies and enters the belt he adds 1 to the count, and after they leave to the great beyond he removes 1 but joe entered the belt and got off, so 1 was added but not removed
