  • Mike starts the process of restoring a Halicrafters S-40 bought on ebay for 40 dollars. This unit has been uncared for and has sat for many years. Can we save it? Can it be restored? Tune in to find out if a restoration project on this old Tube radio is a go or a no go.

    You didn't mention what that errant wire was for. You said you wouldn't know until you get the front panel off. Please let us know in your next video. Just curious when people alter these wonderful radios.

      You are correct. I didnt include that. The blue twin pair cable I couldnt see till the front panel came off was attached to the sensitivity control. So, whatever he was using to monitor the output of the mixer may of had an AVC control output. Im thinking some kind of external SSB monitoring system. Who knows. Thats my best guess. :) Cheers

      @@vicmabus1532 I have lots of the smaller ones. But the big zinc ringed tuning knobs are starting to be harder to find.
