- Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor of Tool join Primus onstage for the last night of the Tool/Primus 2016 tour to have an extended jam on the Primus song "Southbound Pachyderm." This was the only show of the entire tour where this collaboration occurred!
Live at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA on January 31st, 2016
Justin: "Sure, I'll jam. What key are we in?"
Les: "Yes."
The rhythm section of my most favorite band, jamming with my (very close) second most favorite band, on one of my most favorite songs!?!?! I would've fuckin died...
I would pay good money to see Primus, The Lennon Claypool Delirium (Sean Lennon), and Tool all on stage at the same time... please make it happen
Somebody really smart once said "Everything is vibration." Well they tapped right in to something here.
bantamfedor my old boss told me that once. He said friction though
I wuz here, wish I could remember tho.
The CDC recommends dropping a hit of LSD and watching this video.
Thanks for posting this, ‘twas a fun show!
Epic.
I'm kind of confused about this cuz I saw tool in New Orleans in 2016 Primus didn't play with them they didn't do a collaboration and then I saw Primus played a smaller theater for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in New Orleans 2015 and then two years later I saw him for desaturating seven, 2017. At the same theater I don't remember Primus ever playing the Smoothie King Center. That's Tim Alexander on the drums. But this is at the Smoothie King Center I would havegone to the show if I would have known they played their but I don't recall it. Both Primus shows were played at a smaller theater for both tours I don't recall this at all I'm not saying it didn't happen but Chocolate Factory came out in 2015 desaturating seven came out in 2017. This was in between that. But I had no idea Primus played at the Smoothie King Center. But I did see tool in 2016 at the Smoothie King Center. And this looks more like Primus show.

This is sick.
amazing :)
he's got to be the two greatest drummers of the nineties and there were a lot of great drummers from the 90s and they're the most influential drummers in my life but I got to say Tim Alexander's better. I'm not knocking Danny I love Danny the one for either one of these guys I probably wouldn't have kept playing drums they really inspired me. But I'm a little more partial to Tim Alexander than I am danny
Use a word like "better?" Psh, that's ridiculous!
yeah preference doesnt equate to skill level, technically danny is on another level to tim, and that is in no way a disrespect to tim and his playing
Was Jay Lane on drums for Primus for these shows?
Definitey Herb. I couldn't miss two of my favorite drummers play on the same night!
Herb
This is cool in theory... but it kinds sounds like sss
Claypool's bass tone blows Justin's away honestly
More like the other way around...
@@bassman3235 Nah, that claypool twang, and those whammy bar tricks make this jam feel so alive.
@@connorsimpson4542 are we talking about tone or playing here?
@@bassman3235 Fair point, whammy bar tricks don't count as tone. Still, I prefer Claypools tone as melodic and twangy.
@@connorsimpson4542 I guess it Al just comes down to what kind of music is in question.Primus would sound weird without Les' awesome tone, just as would Tool without Justin's tone.Someone prefers one, someone the other,I like both a lot lol.
