Justin of Tool playing bass on a Stool
And that’s just Cool
@@ajanaya8055 too cool for school
He was picking up fuel on a mule, when he met flea on the way and they had a duel.
@@sponger516 some dude yelled, “TOOL DROOL!”
So I beat that fool.
With wool
This guy is the reason I bought a bass and also the reason I sold it!
😂
@@amoore5461 I had to read it 3 times to understand lol
Same, sir. Same.
🤣
This guy is the only reason i want to learn playing bass
Do it! He is the only reason I started playing and now I play tool bass lines solo at an open mic. Trying to start my first band now.
Leo bass covers on RUclips is one of the best places to go for learning tool bass lines.
That’s a good reason
@mustafaalkotobe7741 Same! I still haven't picked up a bass though...
@@pushmethrough yea same i haven't picked up one yet
I love to see people talking about playing bass! He was one of my first inspirations to pick up bass guitar. Its the instrument Ive played the most on stage 100%. No one ever wants to do it, but people like justin show it can be just as important to the overall sound of the band. Still my favorite instrument to this day.
Rick Grimes is killin it on bass
exactly what i thought 😂
Never realised the intro to Lost Keys required Justin to move closer and further from the amp to get tonal variation in the feedback....I now love this song even more
I think he is using an EBow Sustainer and when he leans in he's using a pedal to change the pitch. Lost keys is a beautiful song to say the least. one of my go to favorites. Especially if you play it really loud before bedtime. It's a mood thing...
@@rayneysdad4069 and then "well, alrighty then"
@rayneysdad4069 some online forums claim he had an additional smaller pedalboard next to the amp during those tours, if i recall, an additional guyatone tube tremolo, sansamp gt2, and boss geb-7. i think he tweaked the settings to get that insane feedback, no e-bow to my knowledge.
this vid needs a part 2, its unhealthy how much ive watched this...
Yes! I've always been a bad influence on the health of those around me, so I'm glad it's continuing. This video is a result of 15 years of watching Tool videos. It may take another 15 until I see enough quality videos of Justin ripping...
I have been playing the bass for 30 years and for 27 of those years, Justin Chancellor has been one of my all time favorite bassists. His mastery of not only being that solid bridge between the rhythm and the melody, but also his amazing ability to layer sounds to add depth and texture to TOOL's music is completely unique to the way he approaches playing the bass guitar. Not to mention that the way he EQ's both his Wal and Music Man Stingray basses so that they punch you right in the gut, is just kick ass!! Spiral Out 🌀
well said! He really knows how to smack a bass around
Absolute perfection!!! 🌀
No one compares to his sound, technique and effects.. he’s the greatest bassist all time to me
There are few bassists that can transcend how the bass is traditionally played. Justin is one of them.
He's worthy to play with Danny. The shift from guitar driven to bass driven after undertow was phenomenal.
Awesome bassist
yep the best for sure no questions about it
Justin Chancelor, bass player for the band Tool, playing bass in the band Tool in which he is the bass player who plays the bass for the band Tool, playing the bass (bass solo)
to play bass you need to have the skill to go into the hypnosis state of mind. Justin has it all
For me, the bass is an incredible instrument to listen to on a good sound system and is translatable to just about every major genre of music. Popular modern guitarists are more associated with rock and metal bands but bass players seem to straddle more genres.
Justin is so essential.
Justin - DUDE! You got the best gig in the universe. Both for you and for TOOL. Thanks for your artistry.
Tool albums feel like fever dreams to me. That’s the beauty of it.
It looks so cool at 1:35 when that fog comes in right above his headstock. Looks like his bass is smoking lol
Orgasmic happy birthday Justin!
blezzingz to yov for pvtting zo mvch work into thiz video! may not be important to many bvt thiz haz inztantly zhot into my favorite videoz ever. Long live the king!
I made it because I couldn't find any compilations of the king! Glad you like it
Legend
"Its time now.. my time now.. give me my.. give me my wings!"....
Pass the God dam butta
Passe luh...uh..de..le beurre
that down scale riff fading out at the end, might be the best part....
2:00 - Wedding ring that doubles as a mini guitar slide?
To me. The bass has always been there in music. But kind of in some aspects as buried. He is very unique with the affects. And his style. You gravitate to him. Take notice of the bass. It doesn’t hurt that he has a really killer tone too.
steve harris and justin are my favorites
We all need to start a prayer chain that TOOL puts out another album. Or sacrifice something. Yeah …. uh, baby Jebus and all the saints plus abracadabra …. either way Justin needs to jam on. Some of the extended jams on Fear put me in a trance. Just raucous harmony man, like full on banging my ear holes dude. But while kissing my neck. Yup. Thanks Justin!
I know! I really hope we get another one.
@@pushmethrough we’ll get 2 more
... and Justin for all.
So glad I bought a Wal bass years ago because of Justin. Those things cost more than most used cars now.
0:10 Totally sounded like the intro to Pink Floyd's "Run Like Hell"
I always adore the pretentious sanctimonious dicks that say Just sucks or "isnt a real bass player" because he uses a pick, meanwhile its clearly shown here he does both and using a pick certain times on bass gives it that crisp tone he gets, and i personally think its perfect.
I also like when Flea of RHCP plays music for the RHCP
Absolutely beautiful.
Justin Chancellor using his fingers instead of a pick?? 😳😳 that's the first time I've seen that, I always thought he used a pick exclusively
I think he only throws out the pick for 10,000 days.
Mr. Justin Chancellor...if you had to describe the bass sound in one word or two what would it be?
Tasty licks and harmonies. I can see why much of the footage he's sitting down. He's bent over like a old man while playing because having the bass so low while standing makes it so much harder to play.
I think he only sits when he plays 10,000 days. The other clips where he is sitting are part of the "String Theory" video of him in studio.
Does anybody have the tabs for that first little tid bit at the beginning? I'm sitting here trying to transcribe it. I will try harder
Hey! Sorry it took a while to answer, but here is the link: ruclips.net/video/nbAzcRz404E/видео.html
I DIDN'T KNOW HE PLAYED WITH HIS FINGERS
For wings he does, I don’t think he uses fingers for much else
This guy did to many younger bass players what Steve Harris did for us older folks.
I wonder what his practice regiment is like
Justin doesn’t practice bass, bass practices him
Justin went to my University
What is the name of the very first song? Like the intro playing? 💯
It is their new version of Opiate, just called Opiate2
That’s the opiate2 intro
Yep! It's so good. Opiate2 became one of my favorites, but maybe because it is still new
@@entertainmentgaming8738 no, this intro is an additional bass intro added on to the original bass intro
@@sarahsanchez-shores8865 not saying anyone is wrong nor trying to be elitist, but there are a lot of new fans. Just making sure people know about the original if not. Different time period and style of music, but definitely a good listen
1:27 you missed one of the best bass solos
haha I know, I'll save it for the next video
Just can tool bass of play
what song was the last one?
The last one is Wings for Marie (Pt 1)
song name at 0:47 ? please
10,000 Days by Tool, enjoy!
Justins a tool that plays in tool
sT00L 0:46
Weird style
My favourite bassist... in second position John Taylor and in third Flea/Tim commerford
This is the least bass playing I've ever seen in a bass playing video.
Don't act like you don't love it
@@pushmethrough never was a major tool guy. Metallica, Zeppelin, Rush. I suppose Rush is a pretty close relative.
